Since he won the election, I thought Bush could nominate whoever he wants.

Then there must be an up or down vote.

I heard that line from many right wingers who were waiting in gleeful anticipation for the kind of extreme nominee they salivated for. The Roy Moore-ten commandment-constitutional candidate. Enter Harriet Miers. Apparently that isn't really the case.

(Update): John King says that Bush is at war with his own party. Will he stab them in the back and nominate Alberto Gonzales?
