Another day in Iraq
A suicide bomber apparently targeting a meeting of U.S.-allied Sunni sheiks penetrated layers of security and blew himself up in a hotel lobby on Monday, killing four tribal leaders and at least eight others, police reported---The attack was among five suicide and other bombings Monday that killed at least 45 people across Iraq. In an unrelated incident, the U.S. command reported a U.S. soldier shot to death Monday in south Baghdad or its outskirts....read on

C&L appears to be jazzed about the death and destruction from herr dubyah's war
~Bill-O Reilly, June 2007
Oh well, I wish they'd keep the noise down. I can't hear freedom ringing.
Just another day in Bush's War.
There is a great hearing on c-span 3 right now about the air quality in NY after 9-11. Christy Todd Whitman is on the hot seat now.
As to the Iraq bombing, how the hell did that bomber get into such a secured area? An insider perhaps?
I'm sure the reich-wingers will claim this latest explosion is a sign that the "surge is working".
Liberal AND Proud @ 2:
Yep. Sad, isn't it?
"It was a great breach of security because there are three checkpoints, one outside and two inside," said Saif al-Rubaie, a 28-year-old hotel worker who saw the blast."
Do ya think??
We see this so much we may get desensitzed to it all, but think about it. These people are so commited to something they blow themselves up on a daily basis. Bam, dead, no more. What would get you or me to do that hey?
oddly enough I just posted about this article on carpetbagger and think progress
I have noticed that AP reports have two versions of the same story sometimes.
The links below, of the same story, the Yahoo one that this thread links to and the one on one news now demonstrate this. "Suicide bomber" is replace with "homicide bomber" or vice versa.
This happens several times but what particularly stuck out was when it happened when "quoting" Police officer Baha Abdul-Sadda
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070625/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_070623171409 the story from this thread
http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/06/homicide_car_bombings_in_iraq.php one news now
It would be interesting to find out if the author of the article makes these changes depending on who the article is sold to or if the change is made by the editors of the publications.
Another day, another billion, give or take.

I'd cry. IF I wasn't so pissed off about it.
And of course faux

The 41% r's will look at this like it is the "death throes" of the Iraqi Resistance. America is more split and fragmented now than ever in my lifetime.
I'm 70 years old and remember when parents "wanted" to have their kids learn science. A lot of changes have happened since then, most of it is wrapped around Religious ideology, which makes me sick. They all act pious and pontificate about their belief system, but as soon as they turn a corner they are pedophiles and hate-mongers calling people faggot etc.
America may not survive this religious revolution in this country, at least not the America i grew up in. I feel so sorry for the youth of today having tro live in the world being created by these idiots.
If there was a real god he would surely have done something to stop their onslaught.
Their not dancing the corporate jig?
Impeachment off the table = let the bodies hit the floor.
any questions?
and while our eyes are turned towards the iraq debacle, the supremes are removing more of our freedoms....what a wonderful world we live in
Believing in the whole Constitution is becoming a revolutionary act, it seems.
Bic @ 13:
Bush soars in the polls?
We've been hit with the Right (Bush), then caught off guard with a Left (Pelosi) and I would bet that we've got an uppercut coming from Cheney.
Those freshly-painted schools are worth it, though.
And there's also the hidden stuff.
United States War Wounded Troops Scandal ...
Rusty Shackleford @ 18:
Yes... freshly painted with blood.
in a related story, McCain who hitched his wagon to the neverending war...
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/McCain_could_pull_out_of_race_0625.html
I understand the freshly painted schools aren't open the whole day due to lack of electricity for air-conditioning or fans.
They also lack water, so there's rarely flushing toilets or working water fountains.
Here in America toilets are usually only plugged with freshmen's heads.
To say nothing of the depleted uranium filled atmosphere -- which both side have been living in for God alone knows how long. Long after this chaos is completed, the horrendous and inescapable consequences will be suffered - in America and elsewhere. For example, wholesale spontaneous abortions, so many severely disabled, disfigured and malformed babies being born -- and much, much worse.
Pandora's box was indeed opened - and opened wide - by Bush & Blair Co when this nightmare first began.
And don't forget the mentally wounded. Imagine how many seriously 'deranged/demented' souls are set to (eventually) return home -- to do what? All I know is that I wouldn't want to be around any of them. 'Strewth! I shudder to think what it's going to be like for their familes, friends, neighbours and plenty of others..
a guy @ 21:
If McCain was a real man, he'd remove his shoelaces and hang himself.
Gave away his soul, have away his integrity. What a loser.
nigel @ 7:
Cut off the funds! I like it. One aspect of this I haven't yet seen mentioned is that Cheney seems to think he's part of the Executive branch when he claims executive priviledge. As far as I know, the Veep doesn't have any authority to do that, but I believe he's argued that he can make that claim under the president's auspices, no?
But the lead story this morning's NBC news broadcast was Paris Hilton.
