Countdown: Dick's World - Fun With Dick And Dick

Countdown-Wolffe-Cheney On "Countdown," Keith Olbermann does his best to cover the absolutely bizarre dog and pony show being performed by the White House and the right wing noise machine, regarding the recent revelations surrounding Vice President Cheney's assertion that he's not part of the Executive branch.

frist (again)!

Does anyone believe these crooks are going to leave peacefully in 2009? IMPEACH NOW!!!

Cant fire my employee, hmm

i would like a camera on cheney 24/7. i want i camera on him in the senate. when he leaves his home. when he goes to dinner. when he stops at a stop light, i want the images from that traffic light camera. he is my employee and he has not been performing his job. i believe he has been embezzeling company funds. i think he is moonlighting too. i also think he is doing favors for my competitors.

i dont feel safe while he is in the shop.
please keep tabs on him.
please stop him.
before he kills us all.

Dick’s World - Fun With Dick And Dick”

I think it's Dick THE dick

any "democrat" who does not support impeachment is as guilty as BushCo

http://www.queensryche.com/releases/operation-mindcrime/

In other news the bizarre murders of political and religious leaders that have shocked this city over the last month seemed to have ended as suddenly as they began. No terrorist groups have claimed responsibility for the slayings, but police have a suspect in custody under observation in a state hospital. His identity is being withheld pending further investigation.

I agree with Wes. There is no way they can turn loose control of the government at this point. Things have gone too far, and they are on the hook for treason and war crimes if they are no longer in power. There is far worse to come. I fear for Sen. Obamas safety, among other things. If he becomes the Dem. nominee, I think American history clearly shows what will happen to him. I say this with the utmost sadness and regret, and weep for the tortured and debased soul of our country. Bad, evil things are just around the corner, and the "majority" of american citizens will never see it coming until it is too late. it may already be too late. It probably is.

This guy needs to be impeached, along with the rest of these criminals!

It doesn't matter how "difficult" it is, or how impossible it may seem to get the votes....doing what's right is often quite hard, or seemingly impossible.

But impeachment is right because it is right. And, it's about restoring the Constitution and the rule of law.

Some reading:

If we weren't caught up in this forever nightmare we could wake ourselves up and laugh at the possibility that something like this could ever happen. It wouldn't have, in the world we used to live in.

Since the justice dept. is just as crooked as the white house, I don't know how we're going to make everything right again. Pretty fu*king depressing, isn't it?

As usual, KO is the only journalist who will go into depth on the workings of the crooks in this administration. If he didn't take the lead in stories such as this, the silence from other {sic} journalist would be deafening.

Funny how nothing much has changed and it keeps getting worse and worse.

I'm afraid you may be correct. Seriously, now, BEFORE the national nightmare of DubyaCo, did you ever believe this could happen? EVER? 10 years ago I felt so hopeful. Never, in my wildest imagination, could I have imagined what our country would be like in 2007. Living in Texas, I KNEW what a piece of garbage Dubya was, but I simply could not believe that he would get away with stealing the presidency and utterly destroying the U.S. Constitution.

Molly Ivins tried to warn people about Dubya. Few listened. And because we allowed the obscenity that is DubyaCo to happen, Karma is gonna be really PISSED OFF when she comes for us.

:(

What a dick.

To put it lightly, Cheney has embedded himself in the colon of justice like a giant festering malignant tumor. What a monster.

I am scared of the day when I head over to C&L and it says "Site not found". If you see the same thing across all of the liberal websites, then we're really in trouble.

That won't happen. The internet is to effective a tool at keeping people under control now. Kind of like voluntary house arrest.

Given all of the secrecy surrounding Cheney's office this is one time where I would approve of illegal wiretapping.  Use it on Cheney's own telephone.

I met a very intelligent elderly gentleman via the internet when I first began to write on another bloggers blog. When we first began to correspond he would tell me that things in DC would get better. He said our country always pulls through all problems. But as time went on he started to doubt his own words. He said in his eighty plus years on earth he had never seen anything like this administration. He became more and more angry at what he saw and heard. He passed away last year after a long illness. I still think about him every day and to be honest I am glad he isn't here to see just how bad things have become. I sure do miss his knowledge and wisdom though.

I can honestly say that I think cheney should be impeached.
Hey what can they do to karl rove is there anything?

after all this and people still cant believe Cheney was behind the 911 attacks.

WR @ 24:

after all this and people still cant believe Cheney was behind the 911 attacks.

And don't forget the attacks on California during the energy crisis days. Silicon Valley was the symbolic Baghdad. (Cut the power first)

I've thought the same thing myself, but then that would make me one of THEM. These guys are completely contemptuous of the law. Cheney sees himself as the law and simultaneously above the law and, if he has his way, we are all guilty with no chance of proving our innocence.

Sanity can only be restored by following the rule of law and we have to do it before he corrupts our democracy beyond recognition, and clearly, he is well on his way to achieving that.

It already is corrupted beyond recognition.

If it wasn't for Keith telling it like it is, I might have given up by now. xoites and I decided something had to be done and created a blog (click on my homepage) to get something started. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Phuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheney is playing the senate and executive branch. He is worthy to sit on any.

He has a lot to hide; wars, halliburton, BAE and no telling what else.

While assholes defend this nonsense, he is destroying more evidence.

Meanwhile, Chris Matthews is playing footsie with Ann Coulter . . . Whores.

Allow me to say something childish here: A DOOOOOOOY

People have been saying this for a while now, but WE were the nuts.

Just anticipating the "event" that will occur after the summer of 2008 that will "allow" the cheney administration to assume the role of an announced dictatorship. It is currently just as real a dictatorship, but it is as of yet unstated by the cheney White House.

Little georgie bush is obviously complicit in this as well - but only as a spectator like all the rest of us.

Wonder what delicious facts cheney has been holding over bush for the past 6+ years? Are all the rumors on the "internets" about bush's drug use, military service dodging, gay activities, etc. and the bush crime family's Nazi ties more than just words?

Prediction:

Nothing will happen to Dick Cheney. He will finish his term, go into the private sector and continue to screw America in ways only Dickhead Cheney can and make more millions. He has mastered The American Dream....

Dr Felch, you seem not to know much about American history.

King and Malcolm, along with the Kennedy brothers were killed by the government, not some willy-nilly 29%er.

Hell yeah we should kick them out. Keeping them in power only further their corrupt cause.

You got it. Right on the mark. The American Scheme. I mean Dream.

Somebody ought to interview a doctor about the kinds of prescription medications someone in Cheney's condition would be taking, and then go into the side effects of those medications. I bet a lot of the paranoia and irritability comes from those drugs, plus a guy who is probably evil to his core anyway.

KO is not the only journalist who will do so. That is absurd. He got all the key details that he discussed from the Washington Post reports on Cheney. It was actually the Washington Post Journalists who did all the heavy lifiting on the Cheney investigation. KO did not investigate it, so why is he supposed to get all the credit. I like his work, but let us not make him into something that he is not.

....

Keith very eloquently makes the point that I've tried to make...VERY badly.

Without a TRULY independent AG, who is the top cop in the USA, there IS no law. Our laws apply to EVERYONE, including the President and VP. The AG's job is to uphold the LAW, and apply it to everyone...including those at whose pleasure he serves.

It's the Constitution, dummy.

Cheney must feel some sort of desperation to cause him to claim the things he's claiming now. This bs about which branch of the govt. he's in, is either desperation or insanity. I don't think he's insane but I do think something is about to happen and he's desperate not to be found out. He has something big to hide and he's doing everything he can to keep it hidden. I think it's bigger than his Halliburton deals. I don't know what it is but he is too smart a man to be making the claims he's making now about his role in the govt. Sounds like a last ditch effort to me.

We wondered why there have been no comments. Hmmm.
I'll tell him when he gets home. Thanks.

This may be the turning point of it is played correctly. Cheney dug a hole for himself and legally speaking, painted himself into a corner. He can claim that the laws don't apply to him, and he can claim executive privilege, but he can't claim both at the same time. He need only be asked one more time to turn over the info on all of his 'extra curricular' jobs and failing to do so could result in a charge of contempt of congress - this is an impeachable offense. If this (which it can and will) be tied to Scooter Libby, Cheney will be impeached. At the same time, Gonzales can be impeached as AG and Rice as SecofState. Cheney is horribly unpopular and both Gonzo and Rice are seen as incompetent, even by the GOP - impeachment of THEM is highly possible and Rice would most likely resign to save her beloved George's reputation. Gonzo is a wild card on this one because he doesn't take a shit without W's help. That leaves Cheney and the GOP in a huge pickle - do they side with the Republic, or with Darth, who seems to only be liked by Scooter, Ron Christie and Kristol. I have said before here and on DKos that patience was in order and all the people calling for 'impeach now' were wrong as it would be meaningless back in January, Feb, March, etc. Cheney, not Bush is the problem. He is the cancer, the blight, the fungus that continually grows and infests our government. If we can shine the sun on him, he will burn, like the vampire he is and he will take his whole loyalist crew down with him. That leaves Bush all alone with Laura and Barney.....can you say checkmate?

My problem with the WAPo on this article is that they put it in such small print over the internet it was difficult to read. It's almost like theey wanted us to pass over it. They still carry a lot of water for this administration. EXTREME RIGHT WING MAIN STREAM MEDIA. (ERWMSM)

HillCountryGal: It's weird, I was just thinking the very same thing last night. During Clinton's administration who would have ever believed the country could be in such a state in seven short years? I see Dodd's out on the trail claiming impeachment would be too much of a distraction. He didn't think that when Clinton had a nooner in the oval office!

I really do think the Dems are a party to all this evil stuff, otherwise, why don't they act and why are they supporting Orwellian bills that will hurt this country very much?

I just keep hoping there won't be a "too late" and liberals will still be able to get out of the country. Why would they want to keep us?

Radian @ 1:

[You know, you could ignore it. A nasty comment like this just makes you look petty-Sitemonitor]

Their arrogance may get us all killed. I just want to shout this out to any complete bumbling fools who still drive around with those black "W" stickers. It's not "our freedoms, especially freedom for women", it's a forceful, EVIL, foreign policy, RUDY!!!

I think i've reached a point with these crooks/treasonists that I'm left speechless.

Cheney leaked Valerie Plame. It was done by his command. He knew she was covert, and he knew it was Treason. They are using all these smokescreens to avoid accountability. That is why Chris Wallace asked Cheney (out of nowhere, out of context) if he could declassify information and Cheney said "there is an executive order to that effect". They are criminals covering their asses. Gonzo is there to prevent oversight. That's why you could show video of Gonzo humping a baby harp seal and the president would still have great confidence in him.
Someone needs to get some backbone and stand up to these bastards. Show them that they don't get to write their own laws and their own constitution. The dems should fight even if they don't have enough votes. Fight on every front to raise awareness, because its the right thing to do.

I'm tired of that stupid excuse that impeachment would be bad for the country. What the hell could be worse than what they are doing? Same cast of crooks in both the Nixon WH and the bush WH and both times it's bad for the country?????
What's up with that?

If anyone thinks that anything will be done about Cheney's lawlessness, they have not been paying attention to what has happened to the US over the past six years. In spite of the Washington Post's coverage and some other (small) media attention to these high crimes, no one will do anything. It's over folks. The bad guys have won.

I hate this new format ALMOST as much as I hate Bushco.

If I were in the House or Senate, I wouldn't pass any bills that would favor this administration. I would be very concerned about their motives. They have made my case for concern.

So do you serve impeachments in cream?

It will be interesting to see if Bush's approval ratings go down and Cheney's ratings "GO UP" with these right wingers.

I have a novel idea.

Impeach him.

Yes, it would be a distraction.
Yes, Congress would grind to a halt.
Yes, the uproar from the right would be deafening.

On the other hand, we have something called a Constitution.
Dick Cheney has violated that Constitution - in numerous ways.

What, ultimately, do we care about?

Upholding the Constitution? Or allowing a rogue VP to violate the Constitution with impunity because he knows no one will lift a finger to stop him?

If we aren't going to do anything to stop him, I suggest we stop talking about Cheney, because all this complaint without any action is utterly pointless.

In framing one of his questions to Wolffe, Olberman describes Cheney's hatred of leaks from his office and cites the Plame leak to make his point.
Not so. The reverse is true.
Cheney purposely leaked Plame's status and, at the time, was not the least bit upset.
The point that the piece makes is correct, but Olberman should have used a more valid example.
Progressives must strive to be rigorous in all aspects of our thinking.

Gore, Kerry AND Bush kept out of the Office of President.

If they started impeachment proceedings today, they might be able to shave a few months off Cheney's term. As a practical matter, it's probably not worth the effort.

Politically the Dems would be better off using investigations to dredge up as much muck as possible about Cheney between now and Nov. '08. Let the Repukes spend the next year and a half defending the indefensible actions of their VP. Between the deteriorating situation in Iraq and the disturbing revelations that no doubt would come out about Darth Cheney, the GOP is going to be in for an even bigger election disaster than last time. My guess is that by this time next year, you'll see some desperate Repukes begging for Cheney to resign.

I rather think of him now as an enemy combatant

Wow - not sure I like the changes to this site.
All this talk about impeachment when we all know that no matter what these thugs do it is "off the table". I'm so ready to see some anger from the Dems at the very least. This is getting so wierd that you have to wonder why the Dems won't stand up and yell crap when they are standing in a huge pile of it compliments of these lying criminal bastards destroying our country.

senator ted kennedys one wild and crazy guy! and i do mean crazy time to retire this once great senator before he makes a bigger fool of himself then he allready has!

That tactic may not be so far fetched. In fact, by doing so the Republicans could, to save their own political hides, impeach them both if the stuff the Democrats brought up where embarrassing enough.

yes and i go back to the good old days long ago , when i was a kid ,i saw the old men and young men lined up outside the mans factory fences hopeing theyd get picked for a days work even though they worked for peanuts and still had to kick back some of their pay to the man, kennedys one of the main boosters crying for the amnisty bill that bush and these corporation pricks want , how great is this guy when hes willing to take us back to the thirtys , fuck him their are others waiting for his job,

what wine is best served with impeachment?

IMPEACH his ass already!

Impeachment!? These guys deserve life imprisonment!

Forget impeachment! We need to call for nothing less than life imprisonment!

Oops! Shit! I didn't think that first comment went through! :-)

[It might not have. I just had to clean out the spam filter-Sitemonitor]

Sadly, the U.S. political system is so corrupt that Cheney and his minions will suffer no negative consequences for their many crimes. In 2009, Cheney and his cronies will be living in gated estates, writing their memoirs and serving on the boards of the dirty corporations they helped to enrich.

But these are NOT recent revelations. That's one of the most bizarre aspects of this story.

Mark Silva reported for the ChiTrib in May 2006 on Cheney's fourth-branch claims, and Steve Aftergood has been tracking them since 2003 at Secrecy News. Some of the rest of us have been blogging about it for a year or more, taking our cues from Steve.

So why did this scandal suddenly break into the corporate media last week?

He should have already been thrown out of office. For America's sake, IMPEACH him, Bushie, Rover, and Gonzo...immediately. it's the ONLY way that the Dems can win. If they don't at least impeach Gonzo, then they can kiss the '08 election bye bye!!!

A Dick and a Bush......heh we all get Ducked..........Ashes Ashes All Fall Down........

Impeach IMPRISON and EXECUTE NOW!

START a LETTER writing campaign followed witha PHONE CALL Operation 24/7 till the IMPEACHMENT starts with IMPRISONMENT and EXECUTION this will put the CUT and RUN COWARDS on the RIGHT in a Tissy

And yet, all of the reports about it, are all based on the Washington Post series of articles about Cheney. KO got his information, as did many others from the Washington Post, so they are entitled to full credit for having done the extensive digging, and reporting, on the subject. They made the revelations not KO or any other news outlet. So Kudos to them. I see no validatity in your conflating of gripes which have nothing to do with the fact that they exposed the whole Cheney abuse of power. By the way, the same paper was the one that exposed how badly the Wounded and maimed were being treated at Walter Reed. Credit where credit is due. That has been some fine reporting. It has provided the Talking Heads with some great material, which none of them had bothered to get off their lazy arses and uncover for themselves.

....

Mr. Olbermann, does he even read the comments on C&L or Huff Post? If he did, he might have an immediate heart failure.

Mr. Olbermann, why don't you call him on your reality show and address some of the blogger's concerns and comments?

No one in this country will amount the courage to bring this mass murderer to justice.

I wrote The International Court of Justice today. I am so FED UP!

Do your deed and reach out beyond this "Do Nothing" Congress.
The rest of the World is angry enough to do something about it. Now that the BAE corruption is being uncovered is the perfect time. The World has nothing to lose. They hate this Government.
Who wouldn't?

The Democrats are just as much of a bunch of two faced corporate-cronies- MSM brown-nosers- too afraid to lose their sponsored "Election". Yes "Election". If there was such a concept nowadays...

Write to ICJ and beg them to start investigating Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Horowitz and all for all their crimes against humanity: 9-11, Iraq, BAE, Halliburton.... there's plenty more where that came from....

The democrats should bring the business of government to a grinding halt until
some light is shed on the doings of this incredibly evil entity called Dick Cheney.

Repeal the last 140 years.
corporations have no rights except those they steal from
"We The People"
stop constitutional amendments.
return us to the bill of rights.

congress spends its time fixing what is not broken.
and the government creates problems by not enforcing the laws on the books so they can pass new laws that fuck things up more.
It's Problem, Reaction, Solution where the have the solution and the create the problem so it can be implimented.

I'm halfway through keith's excellent piece, but I have to stop. I cannot take any more of this. We're not quibbling over a fucking blowjob, people. This is a discussion about whether or not George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney are subject to the provisions of the law that creates their offices. I'm about ready to fucking throw up. Let me know when the riots in the streets begin. Rule of Law has been officially suspended in the person of one nitwit Dana Perino.

FUCK!!!

I do not agree that Cheney should be impeached. He should rather be sent to prison as an enemy combatant. And then left there to be forgotten until he rots. He is the Hitler of the 21st Century.
