Cheney Pushes Bush To Act On Iran

Oh dear god, they really are trying to bring on Armageddon, aren't they?

bushrice372ready.jpg The GuardianUK: (h/t SPK)

Although the Bush administration is in deep trouble over Iraq, it remains focused on Iran. A well-placed source in Washington said: "Bush is not going to leave office with Iran still in limbo."

The White House claims that Iran, whose influence in the Middle East has increased significantly over the last six years, is intent on building a nuclear weapon and is arming insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The vice-president, Dick Cheney, has long favoured upping the threat of military action against Iran. He is being resisted by the secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, and the defence secretary, Robert Gates.

Last year Mr Bush came down in favour of Ms Rice, who along with Britain, France and Germany has been putting a diplomatic squeeze on Iran. But at a meeting of the White House, Pentagon and state department last month, Mr Cheney expressed frustration at the lack of progress and Mr Bush sided with him. "The balance has tilted. There is cause for concern," the source said this week.

Nick Burns, the undersecretary of state responsible for Iran and a career diplomat who is one of the main advocates of negotiation, told the meeting it was likely that diplomatic manoeuvring would still be continuing in January 2009. That assessment went down badly with Mr Cheney and Mr Bush.

"Cheney has limited capital left, but if he wanted to use all his capital on this one issue, he could still have an impact," said Patrick Cronin, the director of studies at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

For God's sake IMPEACH.

If they attacked Iran, hmmm, I have to say that would stun me. I dont think they have it in them but if they did... I dont know what to say about that.

Darth Cheney's preparing his final and fatal move. I can practically hear his insane laughter from here.

Don't you love how they're both sporting the Obama look?

Oh my God!! They shrunk Rice!

A well-placed source in Washington said: “Bush is not going to leave office with Iran still in limbo.”

Yes, why leave it for the next guy to deal with when you've got a perfect record of fucking up every fucking thing you've tried!

Condi hangs her head in resignation - "Why, oh why, did I ever come to DC?"

Say it with me....Most foreign fighters in Iraq are from Saudia Arabia!

I didn't think Darth Cheney had any political capital left, let alone junior. If they do try and attack, they should be impeached, if not overthrown in a coup.

Mr. Cheney is frustrated by a lack of progress toward what end, exactly?

I am just baffled as to why this man does not go and fuck himself.

US botches Afghanistan and Iraq; idiot-boy Cheney wants to go for a hat trick with Iran.

Gort @ 5:

Oh my God!! They shrunk Rice!

Get her in some water!! STAT!

If the site monitor is reading this... I HAVE to know where that image is from...

Its just SCREAMING to be photoshopped!

=)

Dear Lord....Help us all.

So all it takes is you and your frickin' capital to start a war?! How frickin' obscene is that?!!??

Is it me or are we all in Bizarro World?!

Makes no sense in view of this story which received little notice: "VIENNA, July 13 (AP) — United Nations nuclear inspectors, banned by Iran earlier this year from visiting a heavy-water reactor, will be allowed to inspect it before the end of July, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Friday.

The agency, which is based here, said Iran had also agreed to answer questions on past experiments that could be linked to a weapons program.

LET'S ROLL

Is it just me, or does it seem that the MSM is subtly trying to "steer" the public into a pro-war opinion? Maybe even "Invade Iran" popularity?

I keep getting that message somehow.

He should take himself hunting.

I'm no military expert, not by a long long shot, but if we bomb Iran, aren't they going to send their large army into Iraq and our soldiers will be toast caught between the people who are killing them now and the Iranians. Please tell me I'm way wrong.

Would this have to be approved by congress or can they do as they please in the name of fighting the war on terror?

congress didn't close the purse strings what do you expect. Cheney will take all he can.

The vice-president, Dick Cheney, has long favoured upping the threat of military action against Iran. He is being resisted by the secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, and the defence secretary, Robert Gates.

... along with any and all life forms still remaining in the world who retain the least shred of dignity, decency and anything but the smallest, most tenuous grasp on reality.

Cheney is plain crazy ! There's no other explanation to his desire to attack a country with powerful allies who can hurt the US like Russia, China, and even Venezuela. And I do think that an unprovoked (on legal terms, not on third grade terms) US attack on Iran may destroy NATO and every single US alliance, even with the UK, or Australia.
But if he wants to transform the 99,999 % of muslim that aren't terrorist in deadly enemies of the US to settle its own dictatorship in your country, why not ?

Is Darth about to trip over his lip?

I can't say this enough: Impeach, Impeach, Impeach.

It never fails with these power drunk War Pigs. Whenever you think it can't get any worse....then BAM. Something happens and you feel like you've just been sucker punched in the stomach. If Congress let's it happen...GOD DAMN every last one of them. Then they will truly deserve to burn in Hell along with the War Pigs.

Au contraire, now it makes perfect sense. We've got to attack them before this last thin justification is removed!!!

Can't cheney be stopped by law from attacking any country he pleases? Where is it written that the veep can declare war on any country at any time for whatever reason he feels is necessary? Of course if the prez was sane, he would stop him. Big "if" there.

So ... a few days ago Iran switched to taking the Yen from Japan.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20670001&sid=aLaColVYu5LA

Sadam moved to Euros and he got invaded. This is a petrodollar war and Iran is VERY VERY close to the rubicon. Iran is already 50% non dollar oil trading. There is only so much Cheney can take before he initiates an air strike.

So should the attack, Iran has promised it would retaliate against Israel. It has hundreds of missiles aimed at them. Would they go into Iraq with tanks & planes or would that just be suicide with America's superior firepower? Would any other countries support Iran?

Also since there's no plausible moderate leader (afaik) to replace Ahmadinejad, what would the endgame be?

Saddam allowed the weapons inspectors to come into Iraq, and you see what happened after they said they could find no wmd. Bush hurried the war to begin before the American people actually listened to what was being said. So if the death duo want to start a war with Iran, this seems a likely time.

“Cheney has limited capital left, but if he wanted to use all his capital on this one issue, he could still have an impact,”

He has no capital left!!!!

Yeah, the hat trick, three strikes you're out. Armageddon=Neocon circle jerk, this is what they've always wanted and probably know its their last chance.

The second most powerful man in the U.S. isn't even elected on his own merit...

Somebody take the keys away from these guys...PLEASE!!!!

Eamon @ 29:

Endgame? Why, spreading liberty, of course! (That is why they hate us, you know)

Herbert @ 33:

The second???? Ever hear the term "back seat driver"!! Cheney was born(is he human?) to be that person

Cheney wants Armageddon ASAP, Ken Lay is really causing a ruckus surfin the lake of fire.

Well we have no alternative but to invade Iran. Anyway, thats what CNN wants me to think. However, I know its just a Cheney propaganda push.

In the picture above, is that not Condi Rice walking a respectful Arab six paces behind the men?

I keep hearing the same talking point that Islamist movement is spreading fast in the world and that they will eventually try to take over America, and yet I also hear many people say they are spiritual but not religious. Could it be that Christianity in most people's eye are the aggressive one? Christian dominated nation were the first to have nuclear weapons! If this nation wants to spread Democracy and the Christian movement, why not spend more time practicing what they preach at home?

What are we doing in Iraq? what is there in Iran?

All of a sudden, we have sources and insight into the innerworkings of the white crib?!!?!

Iran was a foregone conclusion. Now that it's "official", what will be done to stop it?

"Go fuck yourself" is a fucking pig! Somebody ought to put a spit through him and throw him on the roaster.

this president and vicepresident are the only
enemy combattants of the United States of American

IMPEACH THE BASTARDS !!!!!!!

the man who drops the first bomb on iran due to hitlers er sorry cheny bushes orders is a traitor to his nation and deserves the death penalty !

Curious George and the man with the yellow pacemaker don't care how many people die. Cheney bought a 2.6 million dollar vacation home in Maryland during the Iraq war God knows how much graft will end up in his coffers for Iran

According to the LATimes only 45% are from Saudi Arabia. That would mean that most foreign fighters are NOT from Saudi Arabia. Still they are the largest contingent though.

The moment we attack Iran is the moment that our economy will collapse. Millions will be penniless and it will make the Great Depression look like a ride in the park. That's what they want. They have always wanted access to Mideast oil and a feudal economy in the US.

Welcome to hell.

OMFG! When will Cheney disolve the Imperial Senate??

if they try, it is an impeachable act.

The picture looks like an out take from Planet of the Apes

Cheney wants Armagedon....one way or another. He is old, sickly and he can't shoot straight anymore. He just wants to make his life meaningful.

I hope Cheney/Bush does it. There will be an American revolution. No war for Zionist Israel! We are the people too, we are fighting to be free, we only want justice for the third world war. Dubya Dubya Three!

The third largest oil reserves and the second largest natural gas reserves. Iran is a large country, around three times the size of Iraq and would be a very difficult effort considering the overextended nature our military currently. Unfortunately what we're gonna see if these madmen get their way is bombing a lot of innocent people to destroy their effort to make weapons.

There is only one solution to this dilemma.

Buy duct tape and plastic wrap.

Lots of it.

Can they at least wait until AFTER I get the hell out of this repressed, fucked up place???

What a country.

Ask your self this: When did Congress declare war last? How many 'conflicts' have we had since then?

There's your answer. Those that are above the law now control our military, and we the people are the thin line between fascism and populist coup.

Impeach them before they ignite the whole Middle East!

These goons never saw a war they couldn't profit from. Now they're trotting out the most pathetic excuses for evidence. Capitalism eating it's own children.

its time to tell the zionest pigs in israel who pull the strings on their puppets cheny and bush to go fuck theirselves , its time israel did their own dirty work , dam chickenships!

Iran should pick up their country and move to the borders of Afghanistan.

They'll be safe there.

Here is some more

About 45% of all foreign militants targeting U.S. troops and Iraqi civilians and security forces are from Saudi Arabia; 15% are from Syria and Lebanon; and 10% are from North Africa, according to official U.S. military figures made available to The Times by the senior officer. Nearly half of the 135 foreigners in U.S. detention facilities in Iraq are Saudis, he said.

Fighters from Saudi Arabia are thought to have carried out more suicide bombings than those of any other nationality, said the senior U.S. officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the subject's sensitivity. It is apparently the first time a U.S. official has given such a breakdown on the role played by Saudi nationals in Iraq's Sunni Arab insurgency.

He said 50% of all Saudi fighters in Iraq come here as suicide bombers. In the last six months, such bombings have killed or injured 4,000 Iraqis.

The situation has left the U.S. military in the awkward position of battling an enemy whose top source of foreign fighters is a key ally that at best has not been able to prevent its citizens from undertaking bloody attacks in Iraq, and at worst shares complicity in sending extremists to commit attacks against U.S. forces, Iraqi civilians and the Shiite-led government in Baghdad.

The problem casts a spotlight on the tangled web of alliances and enmities that underlie the political relations between Muslim nations and the U.S.

I'm not seeing Iran in there (although I am sure they have a presence), but then they aren't our ally, Saudi Arabia is. This is typical wingnut foreign policy.

This is not surprising since the U.S. is no longer a government of, by or for the people.

You mean like when they tell us there is "growing evidence" that Iran "has a hand in" harming our troops, but don't tell us where when or how they got the evidence, or what the evidence even fucking is?

If so, then yeah, me too. It's 2002 all over again. "Growing evidence" about WMD that is never questioned or examined thoroughly; if the administration says it, it MUST be true! No way would they ever lie!

what truly chills me to the bone about this quote is that it can be interpreted in more than one way:

A well-placed source in Washington said: “Bush is not going to leave office with Iran still in limbo.”

who wants to place bets that there's another terrorist attack inside the U.S. before the '08 elections, which "forces" BushCo. to declare martial law and postpone the elections until the situation is in hand?

even if it can't be traced back to Iran, the american people will be ready once again to "kick some middle eastern ass" and they'll sail right into the conflict they're fantasizing about.

We had an election in 2004 and this stupid country voted these killers back into office (I realize that there was a lot of fraud, a large portion of the country still did vote for these fascists and the rest of us did little to nothing about that fraud other than organize freaking e mail campaigns) and, as a result, we all own this. When we drop the bombs on Iran, and their young democratic movement dissapears and is replaced by a rabid anti-American fundamentalists, they won't notice the difference between you and and I and a Bush supporter. We will have all did this to them in their eyes.

The majority of foreign fighters in Iraq are uhh duh U.S. Occupation Troops. The Iraqi Resistance is uh Iraqi!

Cheney has capital left?? Maybe he's got dossiers; better than capital; he can blackmail and strongarm. I'm sure all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes is hair-raising, even more than any Hollywood thriller. Since he's shot his friend in the face during an argument (we don't know this as fact, but haven't we all connected the dots this way?), I'm sure he has no problem disappearing people, even friends, to secret prisons in Eastern Europe for... "extraordinary rendition." (Still trying to figure out the semantics of that phrase/term.)

He is the rottenest f#$k to ever set foot in Washington.

Please, PLEASE enact the draft!!!

The thing that really gets my goat is that Bush has been massively hypocritical & selective in his prevention of nuclear proliferation.

The NPT calls for signatories to "pursue negotiations in good faith on effective measures relating to cessation of the nuclear arms race at an early date and to nuclear disarmament".

Bush has instead focused on developing tactical "mini-nukes" to be incorporated into conventional weaponry. He hasn't reduced the US stockpile very much. And finally & most shamefully of all, he has legitimised India's secret nuclear weapons building programme. This has blasted an Indian sized hole in the NPT. Iran has every right to feel it can have nukes if we are so selective

Far from occupying the high moral ground, BushCo wallow in the Mariana Trench - the deepest spot in the oceans.

I leave you with this quote from Bush in 2002:

"We cannot put our faith in the word of tyrants, who solemnly sign non-proliferation treaties, and then systemically break them."

One thing is for sure, if the Bush Administration orders this stupid attack, whoever strikes Iran first (I.E. fighter pilot on an attack run..etc) that strike will probably turn into a suicide mission. Bush, Cheney and the rest of the neocon bozos have given Iran more than enough warning and time to prepare. Hell, every ship in the Straits of Hormuz is more than likely targeted constantly by Iranian missile installations.  As soon as the first sortie of aircraft or missiles launch the Iranians will retaliate.  The Bush Administration is already losing or even lost two conflicts and now they are talking about going for a third lose.

Lusmu @ 59:

Impeach them before they ignite the whole Middle East!

Bush isn't just igniting the Middle East. He is also re-igniting the cold war. Russia is backing away from previous treaties and I can't say I blame them much. They are looking at us and seeing this administration making a bid for global dominance. I don't think that the Kremlin likes that very much.

The neo-con agenda is world wide dominance. This won't happen because one, they are idiots and two, the rest of the world will rise up against us.

Bush and Cheney:
Nihilists for the New Millenia

Dick Cheney is merely acting on the fear of his own mortality. He knows his battery operated ticker (cold and decrepit) is about to give out and he's going to take as many people as he can with him. This is how all cowards act towards the end.

Added to this is the fact that 200,000 Turks are poised to cross the Iraqi border sometime after July 22 (elections), after which the Kurd's emnity will have been earned. What a swell party this is turning out to be.

Barbara Starr on CNN reported a little while ago on the 'reported' increase in attacks by Iran. She suggested that something big would happen BEFORE the report comes out in September.
It was a short report and I haven't been able to find anything anywhere else. They are seriously ramping this up. I think they don't want anything or anyone to stop this progression until they accomplish their goal which would be taking out Iran.

I agree. We are already seeing a lot of resistance to the neocon agenda (and rightly so because I feel the same way) from many nations around the globe. In addition to the Russians, the Chinese also will not like it much considering that they hold a lot of our debt. Plus, they have a large and moderately advanced military as well. Here is a clip of some of their drill. Never have I seen troops march in such perfection.

"Follow the Saudis"

or is it...

"Follow the oil?"

If this happens, I'm taking up arms and heading for DC. They've hijacked our government, and we need to take it back by FORCE if necessary.

Let's give Bush/Cheney the Mussolini Treatment.

Go back 5 years ago and you'll see where Iraq was selling most of their oil in Euros. This weakened the American dollar. Now, if you look at "Press TV", the headline there is, "Iran and other countries want to sell in non-dollar".
It's about oil and money and who cares what the AEIA says. You don't want to be messing with Dick's piggy bank.

I wonder what the Joint Chiefs think of this. There should be a campaign to convince them to resign before attacking Iran.

What do we have to do to stop these people? The war is costing us our gold and soldiers life treasure. Even now the price of everything is going up..........

What are the American people going to do? I dare them.....to defend the Constitution. I dare them!

By the time Bush and Cheney get done, forget about shopping malls, must-see TV and the latest fashions. Most families are going to be struggling just to put food on the table.

I agree and this to is part of it. One needs to only look at the dollar and see that it is devaluing against all currencies around the world. Those that hold those dollars (I.E. OPEC, China, Japan...etc.) know this. Already I have heard that Russia is now trading oil in Rubles, I saw the Iranian report on Press TV, and many OPEC nations are thinking about doing the same thing.

This administration will find it easy to start another war to cover up the badly mismanged ones in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am wondering if the American people will sit around this time and allow this president to take us into another war. The American people needs to figure out if this country can sustain THREE WARS, (3). at the same time.

I saw a movie about 8 years ago called "ARLINGTON ROAD" and it was the scariest CIA-Gov't movie I ever saw. These people (who we trust to keep us safe) can plan anything to look like anything and with the media in the shape it is (controlled) we should be damn scared of what they can do and the threat it will have to our future.
It took only 19 guys to do what they did on 9/11. Imagine 60 and this time they have 6 years of becoming really pissed off!

This seems to be the only way we can stop this madness NOW before they take us over a cliff by bombing Iran, and then Congress can work to bring back the checks and balance of government and once again prove that our Constitution works and is worth fighting for - before this Administration breaks it beyond repair.

Go for it!

Not to worry, the Catholic Church officially deauthorized the concept of limbo.

I think the neo-cons will start any conflicts just to cover their ass in Iraq. It won't be surprising if they intentionally to stir up troubles with Iran. Then our attention will be shifted, and by the time they leave, the successor will have to deal with two messes. The Bushies will claim now they are in total control of the mid-east and have the successor to smooth the whole thing out. These are a bunch of blood-suckers! They must be stopped, yes impeachment is the only way out now !

From the pipedream category: If George W. Bush ever thought he wanted to be remembered as something other than a clueless empty-headed proxy front figure for other Machievellian shadow figures pulling his strings... If he ever wanted to really establish that he is in fact the president and that this position is in fact a greater power in our government than the position of vice president, he could always tell Dick to shut up on pushing for military confrontation and allow deplomacy to work... I know, I know, like I said its a pipedream..

It presupposes several things that has never been in evidence.. One of which is that Chimpy actually has a spine of his own... Which is not to be confused with his bull-headed ignorant stubbornness which HAS been on full display from day one...

Still someone really needs to tell Dick to shut the fuck up and sit down!!!
I really hate that fat old Nixon crony... ALmost even more than I hate the entire Bush clan... Ummm nah, on second thought.. It's all about the same... I hate em all. And that hatred thing? Totally their fault and the results of watching them wreck this nation...JD

And demand they charge Harriet Miers with "Inherent Contempt", have her arrested and brought before Congress and forced to testify. The President can't stop this. It is LONG past time to get to the bottom of all of this corrupt behavior and Executive overreaching. We must start to put back together the pieces of our Constitution and restore the integrity and oversight strength to our Congress, restore our checks and balances of government, and restore the trust in our government being able to work as it should. This MUST happen BEFORE these guys leave office so that it doesn't set the precedent for future Presidencies. If they don't do this nobody in the Executive will ever submit to oversight again. Our laws and our Constitution will be rendered useless, meaningless.

Can they at least wait until AFTER I get the hell out of this repressed, fucked up place???

What a country.

Run far and run fast!!!

Remember, anyone can go to Bahgdad, real men want to go to Tehran....

Isn't it interesting that the White House claims that Iranian influence in the region has increased in the last 6 years, which is the same amount of time that Bush has been in office. I guess they'll also claim there's no connection to the two, that is, when and if they figure out what they said. Sorry guys, you just made the connection, live with it!

right on! @ 101:

paranoia @ 39:

I keep hearing the same talking point that Islamist movement is spreading fast in the world and that they will eventually try to take over America, and yet I also hear many people say they are spiritual but not religious. Could it be that Christianity in most people's eye are the aggressive one? Christian dominated nation were the first to have nuclear weapons! If this nation wants to spread Democracy and the Christian movement, why not spend more time practicing what they preach at home?

What are we doing in Iraq? what is there in Iran?

Petrodollar Warfare: Dollars, Euros and the Upcoming Iranian Oil Bourse by William R. Clark

"Why would the Vice President instruct the U.S. military to prepare plans for what could likely be an unprovoked nuclear attack against Iran? Setting aside the grave moral implications for a moment, it is remarkable to note that during the same week this "nuke Iran" article appeared, the Washington Post reported that the most recent National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) of Iran's nuclear program revealed that, "Iran is about a decade away from manufacturing the key ingredient for a nuclear weapon, roughly doubling the previous estimate of five years."[12] This article carefully noted this assessment was a "consensus among U.S. intelligence agencies, [and in] contrast with forceful public statements by the White House." The question remains, Why would the Vice President advocate a possible tactical nuclear attack against Iran in the event of another major terrorist attack against the U.S. – even if Tehran was innocent of involvement?
Perhaps one of the answers relates to the same obfuscated reasons why the U.S. launched an unprovoked invasion to topple the Iraq government – macroeconomics and the desperate desire to maintain U.S. economic supremacy. In essence, petrodollar hegemony is eroding, which will ultimately force the U.S. to significantly change its current tax, debt, trade, and energy policies, all of which are severely unbalanced. World oil production is reportedly "flat out," and yet the neoconservatives are apparently willing to undertake huge strategic and tactical risks in the Persian Gulf. Why? Quite simply – their stated goal is U.S. global domination – at any cost."

NOTE: This article was written back in 2005 but still relevant to current events.

“Bush is not going to leave office with Iran still in limbo.”

F#$k limbo. They're planning to send it straight to Hell.

"The White House claims that Iran, whose influence in the Middle East has increased significantly over the last six years, is intent on building a nuclear weapon... " (emphasis added)

Let me think now, who's been U.S. president during this six-year period...?

Not Saudi, or Afganistan, or Pakistan. No, let's go to Iran.

The echos of Nixon and Kissinger in Viet Nam. They were convinced they could bomb the North into submission and instead ended up in Laos and Cambodia and we still lost. They also did not care that they killed another 20,000 of our troops on their watch and pro-life Bush is even worse. Cowboys should never be given this amount of power

If this administration attacks Iran - we need to take to the streets.

I don't know if anyone has commented on This, but Condi has cancelled an African trip to 'remain in D.C. to concentrate on Iraq and the Mideast'. Hmmmm.

And for those jingoheads out there who think it's a swell idea to attack Iran,CHINA gets it's oil from Iran and They DO have The Bomb. Think quietly about That for a second.

Afghanistan: Mega prisons
Iraq: OIL
Iran: OIL

Now let's look at other nations in immediate area. Kuwait, owes the US (snark), and therefore OIL. Saudi Arabia, owes the US for turning the other cheek on the REAL origin of terrorist insurgents and 911 terrists. Conveniently has oil. Darth Cheney, has contacts with Halli-screwthetaxpayer, which has ties to OIL. Bushie has ties to OIL. CondomHead Rice, has ties to OIL.........anyone see a pattern? So attack on Iran? Not so improbable. How dare all those nations sit on OUR oil!?!

[Edited. Please don't post in all bold. Thanks-Sitemonitor]

AND think This out,Jarhead. This year,China did what every Defense 'Expert' said was impossible- China knocked out an orbiting satilitte with a Ballistic Missle. Feel better now? 'Let's rool' indeed.

Simultaneous impeachment of the President and Vice-President seems to be this country’s last hope of averting disaster.

Iran just dropped U.S. oil to 20% to shift to the Japanese yen and away from the devalued u.s. dollar. That's their prerogative is it not?

In fact, wouldn't it be wonderful if the ENTIRE middle east, so weary of death/destruction/grief/occupations of the u.s. would all get together and go for the far more sound euro, eh? (then again, the u.s./halliburton probably deals heavily in euros since they contributed to devaluing their own dollar).

I don't know anything.

Looks like we are on the verge of Oilmageddon.

No, You know plenty. It starts to add up,eh?

All those US soldiers over their getting shot up and blown up thinking they are fighting for democracy and freedom instead of for Halliburton and Big Oil.

Look at that picture. Everything with this administration is backward. Even that Oreo cookie.

Bush: "You're in Crawford now Condi. you gotta walk behind the white folk"

This is why IMPEACHMENT is so important to bring back on the table. NOW!

Pelosi is more concerned about elections that saving our country from these bastards.

IMPEACH them all!

NOW!

Here's the rub- Feel Lucky? You wanna have Our Thugs try and steal China's thug's Oil? You wanna piss off someone who Isn't trying to build a bomb,or threatening to build a bomb or perhaps think about the bomb,BUT a Couple Billion Chinamen who do? Hmmmm Choises,Choises. Tick Tick tick

These madmen must be stopped NOW!!! Put the heat on your representatives to IMPEACH!

I think it has a lot to do with oil dollars. The urgency with bombing Iraq ramped up as Iraq switched their oil dollars to Euros. Iran is switching their oil dollars to Euros as well. I think that is the urgency in bombing and disrupting their oil supply now before this causes the dollar to bottom out and our economy to collapse. Especially with our enormous increase in our National Debt and the hundreds of billions that have been poured into this Iraq War (and the war in Afghanistan).
I found this article interesting and informative:
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Iraq/Iraq_dollar_vs_euro.html

I'd like to comment honestly about the most direct, commonsensical, complete, to-the-point, problem sol-ved solution to the world's troubles. You know, the one everyone here and around the entire world is thinking about that can't quite understand why it hasn't actually happened, say even 4 years ago. But then, I'd be on a slow torture boat to Turkey.

RIGHT! Great minds think alike!

NWmuse Ok. Now bring your argument to it's logical conclusion. Who holds a majority of U.S. debt?

I haven't seen Condi in the news lately. I wonder what...you know, I really don't care.

nwmuse@127, I think they'll bomb their own pipelines before they'll let us have it.
If we are so foolish, the joint will jump in a way QUITE unlike Iraq. They won't be sitting ducks. We'll see ME reactions we haven't expected. Add Israel and Saudi Arabia to the mix and we've got quite a little cocktail, fresh outa' the shaker!

Okay.. I cheated and looked it up. The top 4 are Japan, China, UK, and Oil Exporters (Oil exporters include Ecuador, Venezuela, Indonesia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Gabon, Libya, and Nigeria). Hmm, Nigeria. Haven't we bombed there recently? Did read something about building US bases there too??

Bingo

Now which one of Those would You want to piss off The Least?

You know, as of 2006 Iran was #3 and Iraq was #4 in the world's largest oil reserves.
(Proved reserves in billions of barrels)
1. Saudi Arabia 264.3
2. Canada 178.8
3. Iran 132.5
4. Iraq 115.0
5. Kuwait 101.5
6. United Arab Emirates 97.8
7. Venezuela 79.7
8. Russia 60.0
9. Libya 39.1
10. Nigeria 35.9
11. United States 21.4

Another interesting tidbit. I read this last week that Putin was making a landgrab for the Artic North Pole which holds enormous potential for oil and gas (and diamonds). You haven't seen that in the US press..
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_ar...
So much for Global Warming and the melting polar ice caps. If you can't beat it, you may as well take advantage of it..

David Hawes@134, Maybe Chinese as a second language might appear in public schools?

Yeah, that's Proved Reserves Russia has potential for Trillions

cravylove-That assumes anyones left to speak.

The House needs to began an impeachment inquiry immediately and make it perfectly clear to the Pentagon that there will be no money or authorization for an Iran adventure without its prior consent. Anything less is an act of malfeasance by failure to exercise constitutional diligence.

DH, well put. Though I suspect the american people again, are the losers from our own gov't and abroad as well. Either way. I swear this is THE crisis that goes far beyond cute little protest signs and jingles, and time for us to be hands-on for future generation's survival and the world they'll face.

got any spare plane tickets? or perhaps a raft might do in a pinch.

Too late, The Thugs have any and all authorisation to begin military operations as They see fit in The War On terra.

crazylove-I'm 54. I prefer booze, baseball and good music. My influence is Gone, and my kids think I'm The Crazy one. Although a raft on Tampa Bay-where i live- IS a great idea.

By the way, CrazyLove was a great song.

Site monitor? You here? Could you preeeeeeeeetty please tell me where that pic came from?

=)

Doh, never mind, would help if I actually checked the link to the original story...

OK Let's review, kids. The Thugs want to 'punish' Iran who ships oil to China who holds (shhh The Real Bomb) a large portion of Our National debt. Hmmmm. Good night and Good Luck

About what you would expect from war criminals. They all should hang at the Hague.

Impeach these assholes before they start WW III.

every fucking dem in the senate voted for liebermans anti iran bill last week,, everyone.

So while the oil theifs, the Cheney/Bush cabal focus on Iran, a nation without Nukes, the Taliban is winning the war in Afghanistan and when Afghanistan falls, Pakistan will be right behind and then the Taliban will have possession of the Pakistan nukes along with their missles. Hummm... wonder where the greater threat lies...
