Colbert Pulls An All-Nighter With the Senate
By SilentPatriot Tuesday Jul 17, 2007 9:16am
While you were sleeping last night, Colbert stayed awake and followed the Senate's all-night debate on Iraq. Check out what you missed..

Colbert: ....this is an opportunity for Republicans to stand up for what they believe in. Keeping us in Iraq no matter what!
I think it reflects quite poorly on our national media when Stephen Colbert better understands the mechanics of a filibuster than they do.

I was expecting a lot more than that.
I have nothing nice to say, so I'll say nothing at all.
Hysterical! I loved when Colbert got all chocked up and asked that these boys be brought home now. LMAO.
Thanks for sharing. Back to work now. :-(
It cut off before the end. Was that a blessing? I only ask that because of the first two comments.
Gee CNN, FOUX, NBC, CBS, ABC, Why won't Republicans vote up or down?
personally, i think it's well time to drop the civility. political comedy is more than okay as long as it's pointed and pointed harshly. at this point everyone in the public eye, anyone who has a public platform needs to voice his opposition to the war and to this administration. only by doing that will the gravity of the situation be brought to light. the american public must be pummeled with the anti war stance and impeach bush rhetoric at every opportunity. It's durned hard to make an impact with the middle america trailer park dwellers. i've been there, i've camped with them, i've talked with them over late night fires. they are resolute over their misguided support of the war and bush and their feeling that in doing so, they are supporting the troops. nothing could be farther from the truth and it's hurting us all. if and when we are attacked again, it will be because we were made vulnerable by the diversion of our attention. any plebe in the military academies across the nation could plan a better strategy than the great decider.
pissed off patricia.
I made my above comment because, to steal a line from Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al", I don't find this stuff amusing anymore.
But then you assume there still IS a national media and not just a giant corporate/military propaganda machine.
The truth is that the people in the media have internalized the process so thoroughly they do not even know they are mere mindless cogs in a larger and ominous corporate/state machine.
Sound doesn't work, why do some videos (esp from Comedy Central) have sound that does not work on my Mac? Am I missing a codec?
phew, another mac person...I too could not get the sound to work...oh well....Stephen and the Daily show have kept us sane and grounded...and the MSM has let us down too much for too long.
Hawk @ 5:
Personally I believe this particular angle of broadcast intentional and calculated...
Sad but true....
no sound on this or the stewart clip for mac
It reflects much poorer that a comedy show on a comedy network understands what's happening in our government better than our TV media (especially Diane Sawyer) and print media.
All nighters???? Hurrumph...Fuckers should have been pulling all nighers for the last four fucking years!!! Not impressed Harry, get the fuck out and back to the drawing board... until you can come up with something better than sitting around all night wringing your hands about what you can't get done because the mean old president won't let you... IMPEACH the motherfucker and maybe you can get something useful done....And don't forget to get rid of Cheney the puppet handler too...dammit..JD
I Colbert spelunking his left nostril?
Jack Damage @ 15:
That's the spirit. Finally someone with balls. That's what I expected to see on comedy central. I expected these lazy comedians to come back from vacation emboldened. I expect them to break the bounds of sensibility and good taste. I expected them to become touchstones for the national psyche, pounding the drum beat to the march on Washington. This needs to be the rallying cry. This needs to become the national mantra. IMPEACH! IMPEACH! IMPEACH the fuckers! NOW!!
Repeat that with a million of your closest friends marching down Penn. Ave.
I honestly believe the corporate media has been compromised to the point where we need to pull the plug on every one of the news channels. People in this country would be better off with zero information than they are with useless, one-sided propaganda.
Fuck these assclowns, let's kill 'em all.
I agree with the three J's! Enough softcore political comedy. Take off the pussy gloves and tell it like it is. Those weazel Democrats are too gutless to start impeachment for both the Dick and his Bush. All-nighter? What a joke. Do these lazy, treasonous corrupt bastards even know what work is? All-nighter?? Who coined THAT one? Republics and Democrats royally suck! They are an embarrassment to us all. What we need are real Americans to set an example for all other countries. Right now we are the laughing stock and despised because of these clowns we voted in. Money talks. It sure as hell wasn't the votes! Obama's an empty suit, Billary should have been behind bars, Edwards is a pansy boy with a pedicure, Guiliani is nobody's hero but big business, McCain is broke and Romney has spent more campaign money that a drunken sailor in port and will soon be broke like McCain. No doubt if Ron Paul made it in, he's have them all executed as traitors. (well I would anyway)
Stevie Do-Gooder @ 19:
Interesting how you describe the leading Democrats as criminal, empty and a pansy but your primary complaint about the Republicans is that their "broke". Your colors are showing.
Let me clarify that never in my lifetime have I ever seen a more corrupt administration than the current one. At least the previous administrations didn't suspend habeas corpus and throw our Bill of rights in the shitter and throw us into a police state. Military Commissions Act? (like THAT was really called for)These people in office are NOT true Republicans. They've hijacked the name like they've hijacked our once sovereign nation. My point is that both parties have shown that they're just a dog and pony show. Do not even begin to play the "one party has more faults than the other" game. The globalists use both parties to keep us distracted from the REAL issues. We all know that just about everyone running on both sides will have favors to return (except Paul and Kucenich) Yes, Guliani IS a criminal! His conflict of interest is out there for everybody to see. I was a flag-waving, red state Republican (now shamed to admit I even voted when those savy engineers figured out a way to rig the voting machines) Cheney is the puppet at this time (a dangerous one) His true agenda is not in alignment with what it means to be an American. HE IS A GLOBALIST totally unconcerned about our sovereignty. He is BIG BUSINESS. Our fortune 500 company CEO's are in attendance at Bilderberg! The candidates I see running all support BIG BUSINESS and they will all owe favors! Yes, I think the writing team at Comedy Central can sharpen their pencils and come up with some side-splitting, stake-through-the-heart sketches.
This shit has got to stop.
Conservative sheep elect Republicans to "kick the bums out" when the Democrats are raping and pillaging.
Then liberal sheep elect Democrats to "kick the bums out" when the Republicans are caught raping and pillaging.
Meanwhile the moderates are left out in the cold, and just flip a coin and vote for some perceived "the lesser of two evils".
And every 2 years, it's wash, rinse, repeat.
The only people with a respectable and informed opinion anymore, are the ones so sick to death of this charade that they gave up voting.
All you liberals and all you conservatives - SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP. Your inter-tribal warfare bullshit has gotten us WHERE WE ARE TODAY.
Vote for an independent! Vote for a true maverick (like Ron Paul!) Vote for Bill the goddamn Cat if necessary, but STOP SUPPORTING BUSINESS AS USUAL!
There's one truth no politician dares speak - no matter how bad the misdeeds of any politician, in the end all blame - corruption, laziness, greed, stupidity - belongs upon the shoulders of WE, THE PEOPLE. We dont get the government we want - we get the government we deserve.
Daily we surrender so much of our money and our rights, while taking so much shit from our "elected officials" and our "public servants", that it's like some big sick joke.
Im subject to laws for which I wasnt even ALIVE to vote on. Why?
I pay $45,000 A YEAR IN INCOME TAX while others pay $20,000, yet I still only get 1 vote - why?
If 51% of the country wants to illegally invade another country, why do we send 100% of the military? 49% should stay at home!
The US had NO income tax until 1913, and even then it was only 1% - now we pay 25% to 33%, and still we're going deeper into debt every year - WHY?
If we stopped paying income tax today, Washington would still collect enough from corporate taxes, sales tax, licenses, fines, fees, and permits to equal the entire federal budget for 2000. So why am I still working HALF MY DAY for Washington's benefit?
What I say, or read, or smoke, or eat, IS NO ONE'S GODDAMN BUSINESS yet a few pills bought over the internet or a bag of pot over an oz will get me RAPED IN A STATE DUNGEON BY SOME CAREER CRIMINAL, and everyone just snickers at this?
What the fuck happened to this country?!
Van says: "Conservative sheep elect Republicans to “kick the bums out” when the Democrats are raping and pillaging.
Then liberal sheep elect Democrats to “kick the bums out” when the Republicans are caught raping and pillaging."
BRILLIANT, Van, that is so true! They are really on the same side--against the American people. The more of us wake up and see that, the more chance there is for a change.
Ron Paul is as much a libertarian as a true conservative. His message is freedom, abolition of the IRS (!) and many taxes, non- (or extremely selective) intervention abroad, and BRING TROOPS HOME IMMEDIATELY! Everyone here that is pissed off with the status quo should check him out--google him and watch some videos; visit his website and see what he stands for. With his leadership, we'd have a chance to be free again.
VOTE RON PAUL!!!!
Very Well Said, Van! Support Ron Paul! For all those folks who say that he doesn't stand a chance, it's people like you that helped fuck up our country!
Colbert's interview with Ron Paul was a riot. It was true Colbert style! It's time for Stewart and Colbert to get NASTY! I'm sure they would if they didn't get so much pressure from the owner (Neo-Con)
Hey Van, Believe it or not, you still have some dumb-asses out there that think the income taxes paid in go to fund government services. These are the same people that sit on jurys and convict their fellow American patriots of tax evasion. Thank God for our internet! McCains an asshole. If he had his way, we'd all be subscribed to the governments new "Internet 2" (wow, let's follow China's lead) Colbert's team should write some material for some REAL issues.
I loved reading your comments that are totally fed-up. I was with CBS-TV during the first Gulf War and saw first-hand the lies and cover-ups way back then. Nearly everyone called me a traitor, liar and at best, I was insane.
Now, so many of you are finally seeing the false left-right paradgm and the complete treasonous acts of the media whores (we in the industry called them "Twinkies") and the whores in government.
If we don't elect Ron Paul in 2008, I believe we will be faced with an armed revolt to take back our nation before these demonic lunatics in both controlled parties burn-down the planet. The Sheeple must awaken.
