RNC attacks Harry Reid...for being honest
Republican National Committee's (RNC) Chief Smearmeister Robert M. (Mike) Duncan, (sent) out an e-mail to his lemming-like followers yesterday and accus(ed) Reid of what Republicans would consider unpardonable truth-telling. Specifically, they call him on the following statements about George W. Bush:
- "Reid Called The President A 'Liar.' CBS' Bob Schieffer: 'You like him just fine, but you think he's a liar?' Sen. Reid: '[H]is policies--well, Bob, if you--I don't think we need to dwell on that, but I call them the way I see them.'"
- "Reid: 'He's violated the rights of the Constitution in many different ways. He's been here as part of a culture of corruption. ... [H]e's spying on Americans. ... [T]he Justice Department is now a hiss and a byword.'"
- "Reid Previously Called President Bush A Loser.' 'Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid called President Bush 'a loser' during a civics discussion with a group of teenagers at a high school on Friday. ... 'I think this guy is a loser.'"
OK, and all of this is a problem why? Anyone who still thinks Bush is anything but the worst president in U.S. history is probably so jacked up on thorazine that they can barely stand, so the judgment that Bush is a "loser" is probably a mild way to express the way most Americans feel.

...-
Reid is dishonest?
It was only last week that the beloved GOP talking point "up or down vote" was officially declared dead. Its demise was little noticed in the aftermath of the Senate Republicans' successful all-night filibuster to block the Reed-Levin bill seeking to begin U.S. troop withdrawals from Iraq. "Up or down vote" was killed by a desperate Republican Party trying to obstruct Democratic accomplishments at any cost in advance of the 2008 elections. And so far, the GOP seems to be getting away with the crime.
For the details, see:
"Up or Down Vote: Death of a GOP Talking Point."
The funny thing? Ya put damned near any other Republican in the White House and Reid would support that person maybe 2/3 of the time.
Harry's no lefty.
Fristy
Wish they were also criticizing him for having a spine.
This just in - Harry Reid says the sky is blue.
That's no spine, it's Cheney's arm stuck up his colon.
The RNC, bedwetting morons, just "Can't handle the truth."
To say that Bush is a cancerous polyp is being too generous and kind.
Reid's tepid tiptoe through the tulips is rather benign compared to the reality and the language that should be used to describe such a massive, destructive and criminal failure.
Let's see: Bush is a corrupt, lying loser?
Yep, I think that pretty much covers it.
Why would a Republican bring these things up. Why focus attention on Bush? Why can’t these ass hats get it? The last thing I would want to do if I was Republican is draw attention to George W. Bush. I would try to go hide him in the trunk or something not remind people of how idiotic he is.
Reid is going to snap one day. When he does, the truth will rage hell fire in the capital like never seen before.
Ack! Off Topic but ahhhhhhhhh! Robert Novak on CNN's the Situation Room just said that he thought Bush was a real Texas conservative but it turns out Bush is a... (you may want to sit down and take a deep breath for this one) Connecticut LIBERAL! If you put your head between your knees the feeling will pass.
bush=liar
bush=dishonest
bush=corrupt
bush=worst president in the history of the USA
bush=deceitful
bush=slacker
bush=awol
Considering Harry Reid's position, he should definitely know better than to say something like that in public.
As an honest, hard-working and patriotic American, I hearby DEMAND that Harry Reid apologize.
Losers have feeling too you know and their integrity was attacked by Reid's comments. Associating them with bush, deplorable.
The GOP is workin' off of the Bolshevik model.
The Bolsheviks didn't go after the Tsarist/White forces- who held dialctically oppsed positions to the Bolsheviks- first, they set out to destroy the Mensheviks/Socialists to consolidate their power on the left. Then they went after the right. Once Bolsheviks started exportin' their brand of Communism ya saw the same happenin' at all points on the map that they touched. Poland, Czechoslovakia, Greece....
The GOP is just workin' it from the other end of the spectrum. First they go after those politicians who, though conservative, aren't slavishly loyal to the Party. Once all the conservatives who are left are Republicans(and Republicans only), they get really vicious with the left.
So fer all my fellow lefties out there: Support Harry Reid! He's a true and loyal ally even if he takes stands to our right.
dadams @ 14:
You forgot, LOSER!
For repugnacans having an opinion is a sin, it's shows independent thinking and that's not allowed.
MOOOOOOOM!!!!! HARRY'S SAYIN' BAD THINGS 'BOUT THE PREZNIT. MAKE HIM STOP.
I think — and I am serious about this — Reid ought to send a public thank-you letter to the RNC for their help in spreading the truth about Dubya. "It takes a lot of courage for the RNC to recognize that a Democrat has been consistently right about our President's mendacity and incompetence, and your courage should be applauded." Spin that, Smearmeister.
Wolf Blitzer says that if you have an obese friend, you have a higher risk of becoming obese, even if that friend lives far away.
Thats it. Dennis Hastert has no friends in congress except Ted Kennedy.
What gets me isn't the fact that the RNC is going after Reid. That I expect. What really gets me is that these Republicans continue to bend over backwards to defend Bush at every turn even though they see the poll numbers indicating that the public sees him otherwise. Bush is an anchor weighing down those Republicans. I just do not see the logic in defending Bush when in the end he will take those Republicans down right along with him.
Norbet Gruber @ 21:
This might shock you but the reason that what Woffie says id true is because more than ½ of the People in the US are obese. What a dumb fuck statistic.
Loser-Liar-Bush should send red-neck-in-your-face-Darth-Cheney out to hunt for this bunch of idiotic-Republicans now!
Really, Harry is being way too kind in his assessment. Bush is an evil fuck-tard.
But dontcha STILL want to have a beer with him?
Repuglickcans need thorazine alright. They've got to be trippin' 'n buggin' with the way they think. How else could someone hallucinate and see the things they do, in the way that they do if they weren't doing some kind of psychedelic drug. Then again, maybe they are high on the One True Savior Bush to the point of having lost touch with all reality.
P.S. I'm sorry for disparaging psychedelics.
I heard that a while ago smoke was coming from the senate building, maybe Reid blew.
Memo to the RNC reich-wingers: The Majority of America thinks dubyah is a lying loser.
Now you know why you are in the minority.
Bush and Cheney = Political Mafia
... and Watch out for those republican front groups, bribers, and other family media frenzy distractions...
According to an editor at Wiki ...Harry Reid can handle alot.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Reid
--> Jack Gordon, the manager and future husband of singer LaToya Jackson, once tried to bribe Reid. Reid allowed the FBI to tape Gordon's attempt to bribe him with $12,000."
Reid served as Nevada state gaming commissioner from 1977 to 1981, a post that subjected him to death threats. Reid's wife once found a bomb attached to one of their cars. A character in the film Casino played by Dick Smothers is based, in part, on Reid. Jack Gordon, the manager and future husband of singer
I wonder what Senator Paul Wellstone would have to say about all of this if he was still alive?
He certainly would be standing up to all of these criminals running our country.
--> His first speech in the Senate was against the 1991 Gulf War, and his defiance earned him a famous sobriquet from President George H.W. Bush, who asked: "Who is that little chickenshit?"
Hopefully a peaceful solution will come of all of this.
But as they say - no justice - no peace.
I wonder what Willie Nelson is saying now..

I wonder what Willie Nelson had to say about the state of our country... back in 2002..

Honest?? He's already lying by calling Bush a liar. No proof!
John, it’s off topic, but you have to read this! Just in time for Congress summer vacation!
Republican fundraiser to feature machine guns
BOSTON (Reuters) - A planned Republican fundraiser in New Hampshire aims to promote gun ownership in America by letting supporters fire powerful military-style weapons — from Uzi submachine guns to M-16 rifles.
The Manchester Republican Committee is inviting party members and their families to a “Machine Gun Shoot” where, for $25, supporters can spend a day trying out automatic weapons, said organizer Jerry Thibodeau.
“It’s a fun day. It’s a family day,” said Thibodeau of the August 5th event. “It’s quite exciting.”

I just sent Reid a thankyou email. Told him I agree.
Bob Schieffer still has Dubya's cock in his mouth, I see.
Oxycotin, not Thorazine. You are getting ahead of yourself. Oxycotin is the koolaid kids drug of choice.
They need to be thrown into the looney bin and put on Thorazine, with a side of Stellazine, though.
harry should wear it like a badge of honor.
the junta and their proxies are getting Scoliosis from stooping so low
That's nothing, you should hear what my teenage daughter and her friends call him? Looser would be a compliment compared to their opinion of Dear Leader....
Reid was going easy on a man who has probably gotten more innocent people killed in a lie based war that Saddam and Osama combined. Killer and warmonger would have been less charitable, and perhaps equally accurate attributes, Senator Reid could have used to describe The Decider.
According to the wingnut right, telling the truth is a lie, crime is OK as long as those doing it are Republicans, torturing prisoners is a moral obligation, wiretapping Joe Sixpack's phone is a matter of national security and if Joe complains he's being unpatriotic and subject to even greater scrutiny or harassment, only sissies believe that global warming matters, starting wars is the duty for those elite neocon intellectuals but fighting in the wars is for the lower class.
When will everyone wake up and realize that the Republican party is populated with political (and actual) pedophiles and they see the American public as their own private kid farm. Bend over America, and let your compassionate consevative daddy stick it in all the way.
There, that wasn't so bad, was it?
Exactly where was Reid wrong?
* “Reid Called The President A ‘Liar.’ CBS’ Bob Schieffer: ‘You like him just fine, but you think he’s a liar?’ Sen. Reid: ‘[H]is policies–well, Bob, if you–I don’t think we need to dwell on that, but I call them the way I see them.’”
* “Reid: ‘He’s violated the rights of the Constitution in many different ways. He’s been here as part of a culture of corruption. … [H]e’s spying on Americans. … [T]he Justice Department is now a hiss and a byword.’”
* “Reid Previously Called President Bush A Loser.’ ‘Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid called President Bush ‘a loser’ during a civics discussion with a group of teenagers at a high school on Friday. … ‘I think this guy is a loser.’”
Everything he said is an OBJECTIVE fact.

This is just the daily helping of red meat to keep the GOP faithful in line ... and perpetually spun up at their enemies. It is a neat trick that enables the GOP to accomplish three things: (1) always be on the attack, and (2) always aggrieved, no matter what happens, and (3) avoid any introspection or discussion of their own screw ups and failures.
Quick! Over there! Look! Oh, the outrage! A partisan Democrat criticizing the President! In a time of WAR, no less!
Let me begin by saying that your site is one of the few that I know I can rely on. Though the words in your report on the tactics used by Republicans to attack Reid may be true, I find it disturbing that you use the same kind of language tactics that piss me off when I take in my 3-5 minutes surveilance of Billo or Rush or Hannity (5 minutes being my absolute max before I explode). I wish you'd aim a little higher: "Chief Smearmeister", "lemming-like followers" doesn't do justice to your argument. If you remove those words the point is just as well taken. If we're going to tone down the rhetoric and really go for the issues, this would be a good place to start.
YES! Reid was only being honest. And mildly so at that. I've been using much, much harsher langauge for years now concerning bush and truth be told I too was trying to be polite.
Peter Feldstein, I agree with you some on that but it would be prudent to note that the words you find offensive are from Bob Geiger NOT C&L!
Tim in Japan @ 15:
Thanks Tim!!!! You sure got that right!
Bush and Cheney are destroying the Republican Party.
Its happening at the local, state and federal level.
--> Crime doesnt pay.
The people now know.
--> Bush and Cheney and RNC = Political Mafia
...And Watch out for those republican front groups, thugs, bribers, and other media hit men.
Andy K @ 3:
Kindly substantiate that claim.
Norbet Gruber @ 21:
Leslie (wolfie) Blitzer is a disgrace. He will read anything pushed in front of his nose. I don't even think he knows what he is reading on the telepromters most of the time. Go hide under your desk wolfie. Dennis the Hut ate all his fat friends and now he might feel like "wolfing" down something light.
Just came in the wire Bush disapproval rating is 66%, a point shy of Nixon ratings, and top his father's disapproval ratings by 2 point. And disapproval of Bush admin is
.
So senator Reid, don't be afraid to say f*#%!@ you to the Republican noise machine.
Say that, and you will have my trust and vote for your balls is definitely bigger than Bush.
If Reid apologizes I will be furious. There is only one thing to call someone who lies. That is a LIAR. And George Bush, Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales, and all of the other neocons are LIARS, and that is giving them the best of it!!!!
GEORGE BUSH IS A LIAR. DEAL WITH IT.
Angry, sad, democrats. Harry Reid is a jackass. I give a shit if Bush is wire tapping me, my neighbor or any of you freaks on this site. No car bombs have gone off at the train stations I live near. NEWS FLASH.................... ALL POLITICIANS, LEFT, RIGHT, MIDDLE, ALL OF THEM LIE!!!!
John @ 53:
That's why we're fighting them in Baghdad, so you don't have to dodge car bombs here at home (that's what the president told me any way.)
John @ 53:
So, criminal behavior is OK, because everyone does it? Fine. I encourage you to apply this rule to your daily life. Have fun.
As for the fact that YOU don't personally care whether the President is incompetent or breaking the law so long as your train station doesn't get bombed ... well, good for you. As Benjamin Frankin once said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Thanks for your time.
Why is it "news" that the GOP is attaking Reid?
Come on, the GOP is the minority party: They have no option but to attack the Majority for being honest: The GOP find this so. . . opposing!
I actually feel a little sorry for those who feel the need to defend Bush. Here he is one of the most unpopular presidents in modern history with a long line of f ups under his belt and I just feel badly for those who have decided to circle the wagons on this turkey.
Bush is not only the worst president of all time, I mean Nixon wiretapped a hotel room, Bush wiretapped an entire nation. Warren G. Harding sucked, but he never lead us into war. Same thing with Grant, Hoover, Pierce. But Bush might be the most infamous man in American history, up there with Benedict Arnold, Nixon, and John Wilkes Booth. He's definitely in the conversation and probably did as much or more damage than any of the above. I just hope that the democrats defeat Giuliani in '08, because we need to reverse what has happened and move forward. I'm afraid if Rudy wins, it will only get worse. He certainly doesn't have the best record on civil liberties himself.
dadams @ 14:
Don't forget sociopathic, dry drunk, bully, all-around piece of sh*t.
Bob Roberts @ 49:
From Congresspedia:
Reid's voting record has been moderate. He has opposed most gun control legislation; voted for the partial birth abortion ban; voted for both the Gulf War resolution of 1991 and the Iraq war resolution of 2002; and protected mining companies from environmental regulation.
He also is an opponent of tort reform and is a leading opponent of a national asbestos liability trust fund. On fiscal matters, Reid voted against the balanced-budget amendment and opposes the tax cuts passed since Bush took office.
He does not approve of same-sex marriage, but is against a constitutional amendment defining marriage. He has a mixed record on gun control, voting against the ban on assault weapons and in favor of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, but in favor of the Brady Bill and background checks at gun shows. Reid is a strong supporter of the death penalty, having voted in favor of limiting death penalty appeals and executing criminals who were minors when they committed their crime.
Has also supported the proposed amendments to ban flag burning.
Seems pretty conservative to me, Bob.
Andy, you didn't mention that Reid:
Voted YES on comprehensive immigration reform. (Jun 2007)
Voted NO on declaring English as the official language of the US government. (Jun 2007)
Voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Apr 2007)
Voted NO on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on reducing oil usage by 40% by 2025 (instead of 5%). (Jun 2005)
Voted YES on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives. (Mar 2005)
Voted YES on repealing tax subsidy for companies which move US jobs offshore. (Mar 2005)
Rated 84% by the LCV, indicating pro-environment votes. (Dec 2003)
Rated 100% by the AFL-CIO, indicating a pro-union voting record. (Dec 2003)
Voted YES on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes. (Jun 2002)
Voted YES on funding smaller classes instead of private tutors. (May 2001)
Voted YES on expanding hate crimes to include sexual orientation. (Jun 2000)
Voted NO on prioritizing national debt reduction below tax cuts. (Apr 2000)
Voted NO on increasing penalties for drug offenses. (Nov 1999)
Voted YES on setting aside 10% of highway funds for minorities & women. (Mar 1998)
Voted NO on limiting product liability punitive damage awards. (Mar 1996)
These are not positions that "damned near every other Republican in the White House" would support.
Cmon, silly democrats, do you really think Bush lied??? So did Bill lie about WMD's? Hillary, Teddy, Nancy, Algore, etc???

There are some honest members of both houses but they are seldom heard from
Every President has had his detractors, even Lincoln with all his problems had to deal with a wife who was less than helpful. Our effort to gain independence was finally won when the complainers in England demanded that their Navy be returned from America. No sane person wants war with all it's death and destruction, but what are we supposed to do when a group of barbarians announce they intend to destroy us?
Time to stop bashing our President.
