It's off topic, but...
Did ya'll see that Texas gov Rick Perry, a Republican, just named a creationist to head the state's dept of education?!
http://defconblog.org/2007/07/creationist-to-head-texas-school-board/
I just watched this over at Atrios' website. I think it's pretty funny. Lol!
I think that pretty much says it all.
iirc, the twenty somethings were supposed to be the difference in 2004. Too bad the polls didn't have wet bars.
Swashbuckler @ 1:
Yip. They don't watch YouTube.
Ok Ok.....I'm, for Ottoman marriage too.
I laughed, I cried, I drank when I saw the American Flag!
I'm tired and maybe not in a good mood or something. That just seemed silly to me. :(
"But, I ask you, if you know that, why do you not bestir yourselves, why do you allow these men who are in power to rob you step by step, openly and in secret, of one domain of your rights after another, until one day nothing, nothing at all will be left but a mechanized state system presided over by criminals and drunks?"
1942. The piece was scathing in its criticism of every-day Germans who sat back and did nothing to combat the Third Reich.

Afraid I'll have to agree, but then again, US humor sometimes is a bit "excessive" to us.
We can only imagine where things would be if we had youtube on --> January 2000.
Too bad the comedy channel didnt have a portion inspiring viewers to activism
--> like flooding congress with emails and faxes and calls before the votes.
More young people are going to get the news on a "ComedyCentral"...
now there is...
ComedyCentral Germany
ComedyCentral Italia
ComedyCentral Netherlands
ComedyCentral Poland
Whether bad or good I dont know if it was good...
--> Viacom bought out Comedy Central's Time Warner's half in April 2003 for $1.225 billion.
House Democrats pass contempt citations
AP - 1 hour, 1 minute ago
WASHINGTON - The House Judiciary Committee voted contempt of Congress citations Wednesday against White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and President Bush's former legal counselor, Harriet Miers.
Let the games begin.
Good.
Bring it to a full vote..
Constitutional Showdown.
Just dont let it get to the supreme Court..
BumpnGrindnVote
cheesesauce @ 2:
I think it was pretty vulgar. :(
Norse @ 9:
Yes...and Anderson Cooper's gen-x low IQ humor was profoundly present during these so called "debates" also.
Whomever asks the questions, YouTube, Jack cafferty, or Mr. Magoo, the only way you are going to get revealing answers, would be to put each candidate in a room where they can't hear each others answers to the same question....tell them they have exactly "so many seconds" to answer, then turn off their mic PRECISELY at that time.
Anything else is just show and tell.
as ol jake the farmer used to say , we got a bumper crop , of fucking stupid dildos who get picked off utube to fucking ask really stupid questions , and cnn sifted thru the worst and managed to fuck up the debate! hooray for the corporate whores !
L.A. Confidential @ 11:
it would be easy if these guys were selling impeach buttons to arrest them!
If they don't go after Harriet and Bolton, the congress would basically be saying, if you are subpoenaed show up if you want to and if you don't, that's okay too.
tyree @ 17:
Well we'll see we're dealing with Ruthless Old Men and Women.
Age and Ruthlessness versus Youth and Idealism. Not a pretty picture.
L.A. Confidential @ 19:
Idealism? Seems to me our youth is specifically LACKING idealism if the youTube "debates" are used as an example.
Youth In Asia was the name of a Christian outreach.
Call me a big silly, but if I were an Asian parent (and I might be if I ever get a letter from Springer), I'd be nervous about a campaign that seems to suggest massive suicide.
TASTELESS!!

straight shooter @ 3:
that's the problem, straight shooter, we *were* there. in my area (central kentucky) there were more people my age (yes, the twenty-somethings..) out voting when i was than there were of any other age bracket.
i'm a big fan of the Daily Show, however, this specific piece was downright insulting. it even feels like CNN chose videos that undermined the younger voters to show to the candidates, when, truth be told, we're swiftly becoming one of the more politically motivated generations since Regan or Nixon.
*sigh* i've already been through this despair in June, i was hoping to skate through this month without it, saving my voting-related irritation for next year.
the funniest thing I've seen on TDS for a long time. Vulger? Tasteless? Do you not watch the show regularly? OF COURSE IT IS! I loved it. Keep 'em coming C&L.

straight shooter @ 3:
Really. If you seriously want to bring the youth to vote, then pass out free booze outside the polling locations.
Very funny!
Also, as an aside, John Edwards had post debate YouTube video to answer more questions. One of the first questions was the impeach question.
John Edwards answers more questions
...If the "20 something vote bloc" actually got off their ass to vote in Ohio, Kerry would be President today, Diebold notwithstanding..blogging talks, voting changes things...2008 election must be the top priority, not "impeach, indict, incite...

"we've got our kids so interested in beer commercials, you could put a nuclear stockpile in their backyards and they wouldn't even know what it looked like" - Jello Biafra
Rollo Tomassi @ 31:
Jello! Jello uber alles.
Damn, that was funny!
Sick liberals! I cannot wait till we can change the first Amendment to ban profanity...or anything sexual on TV!
Ha! They canceled filming this at Columbia after we refused to manufacture this kind of asshattery (heavy drinking, stupid games, etc.) for them. Kind of disheartening.
eh, I've really never been a fan of John Oliver, and this segment, to me, was pretty much the bottom of the barrel - I found it pointless and unfunny. But that's just me. I love the daily show, but not everything 'hits home' of course.
cetylovx @ 28:
This is very impressive on Mr. Edward's part, imo, even if the impeachment question never came up. Did any of the other Democratic candidates directly plug into the tubes like he did in this video?
I can't wait for September 17th when CNN and the repuglican idol candidates do the same thing. It'll be fun to count the underage male hookers dancing around in their hotel rooms.
Damn.
I meant: even if the impeachment question wasn't asked of the other candidates, their responses to more (unscreened) uestions would still be worth viewing.
Does anyone know the name of the original youtube video with the kids dancing and humping that the daily show anchors are spoofing in the end? I've been trying to find it with no luck. Thanks.
