We hate to say we told you so, but....we told you so: Those terrorist "dry runs" at airports that bumped a slew of bad news for President Bush off the front page and scared a lot of summer vacationers in the process, were, as CNN itself confessed in a different report, "bogus":
(CNN reporter Brian) TODD: In fact, a U.S. government official familiar with the investigation now says there were valid explanations for all four incidents in that bulletin and no charges will be brought in any of these cases. (on camera): TSA officials first told us the incident with Sara Weiss got put on that bulletin because of a systems error. But they also say they were right to put all these incidents on that alert because whenever they find suspicious objects, they have to run them to ground and tell law enforcement officials to look out for items like that. Here is a history lesson for you Terrorism Zhar. It was the REPUBLICANS who let their guard down and caused 9/11. After the 2000 election Cheney was supposed to put together a terrorism task force but didn't. After several warnings from George Tenet about "activity" from Al-Qaida both Rice and Cheney ignored Tenet's requests to meet regarding his concerns. Cheney was more interested in engaging in secret talks with his friends in the energy business and undoing Clinton's environmental reforms. Rice was more concerned about Bush's missile defense plan and feeding her ego. And the neo-cons in the administration were more interested in making the US a supreme superpower. It was also Newt Ginrich and company who thwarted Clinton's attempts to capture bin Laden since they were more interested in going after Clinton himself.
The Bush Administration also completely dropped the ball on continuing mid-east talks for peace after the election.
The terrorists don't have to come here to attack us now since they are having a field day attacking our troops in Iraq. So your claim the REPUBLICANS are protecting us is bogus. We've lost more American citizens fighting the war on terrorism then we lost in 9/11 and in the process wreaked havouc in a country that was no threat to us whatsoever.
Also the little war YOUR REPUBLICAN president started has boosted terrorist ranks by the thousands. Now there are more terrorist training camps set up in the outskirts of Iraq and the borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan then before the war even started. You are the ones embolding the enemy.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. This is not about the credibility of the Bushies. It's about the evidence.
All the "evidence" proposed for 9/11 fakery has been debunked thoroughly by actual field experts. Remote-control planes, pre-planted explosives, lasers from space, nukes in the basement, missiles cloaked with holographic planes, all objectively rubbish.
If the Bush administration did have anything to do with 9/11, it was either because they deliberately ignored warnings, or they had agents provocateur trick real extremists into sacrificing themselves. Both of which are quite possible.
But just because something is possible does not mean it must have happened that way! You still need evidence.
You can't decry evolution deniers for their lack of scientific veracity, yet make up your own theories without real supporting evidence. Evidence is at the heart of science. And if liberalism claims to stand for the benefit of all humanity (as opposed to just the benefit of the corporate elite) then scientific thinking has to be one of its pillars.

Is it just me, or is the whole "one way ticket" thing just about the stupidest indicator of a possible terrorist that has ever been devised? I know that all the authorities out there continue to deny that they use that as an indicator, but I have to disagree. I've traveled on one way tickets twice in the past couple of years, and have been searched from head to toe both times, along with my wife, and my two year old twins. As have my parents, also on a one way ticket, and my in-laws, again on one way tickets.
What I truly can't figure out is why on earth someone would think that someone looking to do something would be a one way ticket? Do they think it's cheaper? I thought these idiots were supposed to be well funded? And if they do think it's cheaper than they haven't priced one way travel recently. Do they think that the person planning something is worried about making credit card payments after they do whatever? That's about the logic that I'd expect. Actually, thinking along those lines, why don't they strip search everyone who buys a first class ticket? I mean, who wants to pay the credit card bill for those things? They must be planning something.....

Let's face it, all US news channels have to fill the space between the ads and they fill it with 'news'. With the news management of politics and business there is no 'news' on Saturday morning (especially in the summer) so they have to dream up some trash to fill the gap. The 'news' they fill the time between the ads when politics and business are managing their output is no better than this. Watch and listen if you must but be sceptical.

What's really bad is if you are a satellite customer in one of those areas (which DirecTV assures me is only 6% of the country) who can't get locals through the dish, you are pretty much stuck with cable news, which sucks. When I switch to the antenna, suddenly the news gets higher in quality. Network news apparently doesn't compete with cable news for viewers because they're two completely different products.
