Resign? I sincerely doubt it.

I think you should work on your marketing. I am not very inclined to help you win a contest when you admit you put little time (and effort?) into your submission.

It was a different age, with a different sensibility then. Tricky Dick still had - however warped, however tenable - a sense of honour. The press still considered themselves watchdogs and real journalists. Congress still had oversight. The country - despite the war in Viet Nam - still have habeus corpus and civil rights. And the public were glued to the Watergate hearings then the way they're glued to Playstations and American Idol now.

No, Cheney isn't going to resign. Because there's nothing, absolutely nothing, not honour, not Congress, not public outrage, that will ever force him to.

Ava's an incredibly talented editor

This video shows exactly how dumbed-down we are as a nation.

Strip away the Bill of Rights and what are people talking about?
Eddie Murphy fathering a kid with a Spice Girl.

The Attorney General of the United States perjures himself and what do people feel outrage toward?
Paris Hilton's prison stint for DWI.

1/2 Trillion dollars spent, 3500+ dead in Iraq with nothing positive to show for our efforts except a dead dictator and his sons and what has the people enthralled?
Who's the next to go on American Idol.

The media is asleep at the wheel.
The public is asleep in front of the TV.
The youth of today is asleep in front of their PlayStations.

Honestly, until we wake up as a country, we are getting the treatment we deserve.

One thing is different; people now have to look hard to find the truth out there. MSM will not investigate this presidency as they did with Nixon and those few brave ones that do are fired and trivialised for their efforts.

The FBI just raided the house of a former US Attorney because they are serious about finding who leaked the information about the warrentless wiretapping program.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I haven't watched it yet and I'll rate it what it deserves. Kid or not doesn't matter to me, but you don't say, "Hi I just put almost no effort into something. Please YOU make the effort to give it the highest rating possible."

I'll go watch the video now and give it the highest rating it earned. :)

Well, just watched it and I guess I didn't get the point. It starts out with nixon talking about welcoming scrutiny. Then it cuts to Cheney talking about something unrelated. It's not congruent.

I don't have a youtube login and don't see creating one to rate this video.

Back then there was a shred of freedom left, today what Bush does is now all legal. America is screwed.

Bush will not do this because today everything he does was now made legal with the help of the Dems.

Frightening.

Absolutely correct. I get the sense (like CafeenMan @ 9 points out) that most people either believe they already "know who to hate" because they've been told, believe that whatever problems exist are too big for them to affect, or don't have any idea there's any kind of problem at all. This includes our poor-performing press and our weak-kneed Congress.

If you miss the point, then please never vote again. The irony is plain to see. One Dick had the the balls to do the honerable thing for the sake of Our Nation. The now Dick(and all of His Thugs) has the honor of pond scum.

I worked on the Committee to Impeach the President and spent many hours getting petitions signed.
You speak with strait mouse toungue regarding the different times and roles of the press back then.

However, for that microscopic Nixonian "honor" to finally rear its teeny head, he had to paint himself into the mother of all corners with bipartisan guns pointing at him from multiple positions.

And yes, Cheney probably thinks he was a pussy for finally resigning.

Dick Stalin, who will forever be remembered as a complete failure, is a lonely soul who has a cold, stern wife, a lesbian daughter and an uncontrollable urge to shoot his hunting partner. Any thoughts he has of ending it all are probably focused on escaping his miserable life, not just the vice presidency.

The 'naivete' questions about your video are founded. After all, you've only been alive for about as long as 'people' such as Dick Cheney have been able to draw breath, haul in piles of cash for himself and his cronies and take so many other's lives, breath and livelihoods away with the aid of his trusty pacemaker.

I didn't have the luxury of seeing any other contestant entries, but I do know that you always do the highest quality of work, Ava. Glad that you're on the side of the 'good guys'.

I gave this video 5 stars. It was my right as a contributing YouTube subscriber and viewer, and I hope that you'll win this contest.

These Republicans exploit their positions of power to advance their own positions in the market. This country is racing towards oligarchy.

Maybe in another time, her talent might be more appreciated too.
Maybe Ava would like to be a kid occasionally.

She's more mature, dedicated, and sophisticated than most Americans.

She gives me faith in humanity.

Watergate Summer will be happy to post a link to her video this week, all week...we love ANYTHING that reminds people of Nixon....and his demise...and Impeachment as an Option when facing Criminals In Power.

The "oligarchy" happened years ago. This country is now headed into a Christianista, facist theocracy (i.e. Moronica Goodling and her staffng the DoJ with Regent U. Christianistas and Jesusmongering facist) who wish to destroy our democracy.

I know that without the video. If all I had were the video it would show cheney being asked questions about gonzales and saying no, he wouldn't respect a congressional subpoena. Before that it showed nixon saying it was good he was being scrutinized. It doesn't show cheney being pond scum at all. It gives no frame of reference.

I already know cheney is a piece of shit's piece of shit. This video didn't show that.

Anyway, since you told me not to vote I'm going to vote republican just to help things get even more fucked up. :)

Let's see, Pat Tillman was killed by his own troops possibly intentionally and Cheney walks around without a care in the world. Something is wrong with this picture.

Wow,please don't scare me. The fact You and I both know they're pond scum, means the video didn't have to. I mean,do You need circles and arrows on every video pointing out, ummm like 'This sky is blue?'

The Busheviks seem determined to repeat every single mistake made by the Nixon Administration. It's like watching some Twilight Zone episode where somebody goes back in time and tries to change the past, only to end up repeating it.

Santayana nailed it.

No, but if this video is a contest entry then it should be judged on its merits - not what "everyone knows." That's really all I'm addressing.

PS. I was kidding about voting GOP. It could happen in my lifetime but not any time soon.

The 'frame of reference' is clear. Nixon lying and saying He cared that The Ameican people and Congress thought He was crook. Cheney is showing He doesn't give a fuck what the people or Congress think. It's right there to see. Unless You need those annoying popup bubbles telling You the obvious.

cafeen-OK I accept that. Nice reparte. Peace

If impeachment is brought forward, there will be a catastrophic & catalyzing event that will stop it. They're going to get their way and there's nothing us, the Dems, or ANYBODY can do about it. It's too damned late.

I guess I'm just a popup bubble kind of constituent. :D

Just tell me what I want to hear. I'll vote for that!

A couple of points O Mousey One:

1) People watched the Watergate Hearings because there was nothing else on television.

2) The press wasn't the reason that Nixon had to resign, despite what Bob Woodward would like you to think, it was Congress.

3) Nixon did not resign until the House committee approved articles of impeachment and it was clear that the House was going to vote to impeach. That was when congressional Republicans went to the White House and told Nixon to resign.

4) Read the Church Committee report if you want to know how Nixon violated people's constitutional rights. But he didn't brag about it like Bush does, so most people didn't know it at the time.

5) Nixon, for all his faults, was a far better President than George W. Bush. And Nixon was a scumbag.

Nixon actually accomplished some good to partially offset his bad. Bush has no redeeming value whatsoever.

For those who weren't alive or too young,Nixon did indeed accomplish much, and Yes,he was a scumbag. Our current cabal of criminals will do ANYTHING to stay in power.

Sorry folks our media is not asleep. All are wide awake and waiting for handouts.
Do you folks know why the CIA total funding is not made public ? Cause some of the money goes to reporters that are actual CIA agents--double dipping salaries-nice!
New York Times is a hot-bed for CIA Agents. This week, one reporter was a prior CIA agent --Yes Iraq is improving-- more B.S. :(
Nixon's deeds are chicken shit compared to Both Bushs and Clinton .

it's funny how nixon seems almost sweet in comparison to bush, cheney etal. nixon signed more progressive legislation (OSHA, clean air act) into law than clinton. ford pardoned nixon but he also pardoned a whole class of draft resistors. we have nothing to show for our suffering under bush and there is no path to national healing after this debacle. comparing cheney to nixon does not begin to acurately convey the depth of cheney's depravity.

that would be cause i'm out of town and only heard about the contest hours before i had to leave. i don't have editing programs on my laptop and only on my desktop. if you want to judge me because i was only able to spend a few hours then by all means do, but it doesn't change the amount of work i did put into it even if it was 3 hours of nonstop editing rather than having the time to stop and break. i just hope that the message of impeachment gets out there to folks and if winning the contest helps fund my documentary more and that is just an added bonus.

1) People watched the Watergate Hearings because there was nothing else on television.

… Umm. And there is NOW?? Ninety-seven channels of utter mindless shite still counts in my books as ‘nothing else on television’.

2) The press wasn’t the reason that Nixon had to resign, despite what Bob Woodward would like you to think, it was Congress.

… The press then still had a modicum of respectibility, with or without Bob Woodward. I grew up believing in St. Walter Cronkhite. Who have we got now even close to his calibre? As for Congress, we had one of those back then, too. The current batch is still working on legitimizing themselves, and while doing a few good things seems to be falling down on some rather bigguns - like continuing to allow Bush warrantless wiretaps, for instance - something that brought down Nixon.

3) Nixon did not resign until the House committee approved articles of impeachment and it was clear that the House was going to vote to impeach. That was when congressional Republicans went to the White House and told Nixon to resign.

… And I would dearly love to see history repeat itself once again here, too. Only this Congress, again, is falling down on the big points - like impeachment. The idea that it’s ‘too late’ just doesn’t hold water. It might not pass with the still too high numbers of Republicans in office, but the gesture would at least send out some shock waves and a clear message.

4) Read the Church Committee report if you want to know how Nixon violated people’s constitutional rights. But he didn’t brag about it like Bush does, so most people didn’t know it at the time.

… ‘Most people?’ Most people then were still moderately literate and read newspapers, of one kind or another. If it made the news, it was known. (As, logically, if it isn’t reported, it’s kinda hard to find out). And Nixon boasted as much to his own buddies and Bush does to his coterie of yes-men. Difference is then we had a John Dean. We don’t seem to have anyone in this White House with anything even approaching a conscience.

5) Nixon, for all his faults, was a far better President than George W. Bush. And Nixon was a scumbag.

… Agreed.

Did you catch the reference to Nixon in the latest DoJ e-mail dump?

Growing up as a kid I thought no other president could be worse than Tricky Dicky Nixon well.... Heres my Gomer Plyle impression "SURPISE, SUPRISE, SUPRISE !!!
Bush and his cohort takes the cake.....JCB

Both DICKS are aptly named! I suggest that, in the future, we avoid nominating or voting for anyone with that unfortunate name, as it appears to really indicate a lack of conscience/soul.

Bush is still the most criminal and obstuctive administration in history.
IMPEACHMENT IS A MUST!!

Clearly, America wanted this guy back when they elected Bush in 2004.
It's not as if there was no track record there.
America gets what it wants, what it deserves.

Dump dick? I fear it is already too late.

The cheney/bush administration has all its ducks in a row. They own the MSM, they own the SCOTUS, and just a few days ago, they got a good foothold on the Congress, converting several Democratic Party members of the House and the Senate (they already had the repukes).

Does the survival of democracy in this country have a chance?
