Mike's Blog Round Up

hi kids, skippy the bush kangaroo here, with today's round up:

continuing with the economic questions i asked yesterday, are we headed for another great depression? how's your oil supplies? and, why the hell does mrs. skippy keep watching this guy's show?

thanks to the dems, who have less spine than mary poppins, there's no telling who could be in your bathroom now.

i didn't go to y2kos this year, so i missed out on the hate from the right and the whiny cajoling from the media (cue rogers and hammerstein). but to be honest, it doesn't sound like i missed out on much else.

and it's difficult to decide which is more interesting: judi v. jeri, mike v. sam or chris v. pz.

here's a riddle: how is new orleans like minneapolis? answer: aWol promised they'll both get rebuilt! come on, stop laughing! (speaking of obsolete bridges, pam links us to an interactive map detailing which ones are ready to collapse...)

with friends like this, who needs enemies? and more importantly, with cleavage like this, who needs a penis? and what about cap'n dyke?

that's it for today, kids! send your tips to skippybkroo at aol dot com, in blogtopia (and yes, i coined that phrase)!

The link to the interactive map didn't work for me. There was no interactive map on that page. Just an FYI :)

PoP - if you click on a state it will show you a summary of bridges and their conditions.

You posted these links to your own blog on at least one other thread here today. I think that pretty much defines the term "blog whore", and I wonder why you are still here.

OK, while I agree that the dems are spineless, saying they have less spine than Mary Poppins isn't fair. I mean who doesn't that describe?

Boosh at the Minneapolis bridge made it clear that is no timeline for rebuilding the bridge; he said it over and over again. Boosh has a problem with timelines. Essentially he said no 35W bridge for you.

BUT, why build a bridge here, when we can build one in Iraq over the moat of our grand palatial embassy.

I clicked on my state--Texas--the light blue makes it look like there's not much to worry about, except that there are over 49,000 bridges, of which over 7,000 are functionally obsolete. None of it is acceptable in any state.

This is a surprisingly good interview with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Man, this guy is different from Rummy...

Now there is telling it like it is. I'm just waiting for the day when we all will have our very own Bush Administration approved minders following us around just like those used by Rumsfeld's good buddy Saddam Hussein.

Skippy, it's "Rodgers and Hammerstein," not Rogers. And the Song 'San Francisco' isn't by them anyway, it's by Kahn and Kaper from the movie "San Francisco.".

No guts Congress. Blame it on the BlueDog democrats.Does anyone really believe they voted the consience.Bush and Sen. Lott played the fear card and won again. How many times has it worked?Let me count the ways.I'm a Red -White-and Blue American voter and anyone who voted for giving away our rights should be put out of office.Never mind their excuse "its only for six months'

the words "interactive map" will take you to an msnbc page w/the map. the word "pam" will take you to pam's house blend, but that blog takes a long time to load. but it will, eventually.

sorry for the mis-spelling, however, i wasn't referring to "san francisco" (???), i was referring to "the farmer and the cowboy should be friends" from oklahoma! which is actually referenced in the teddysanfran piece i linked to.

just curious, where the hell did you get "san francisco" in a piece talking about the y2kos convention in chicago? at least you could have corrected me with a reference to kander and ebb!!

there is a cold wind on the horizon. we dream of super heroes saving us from evil. we elect wolves in sheep's clothing. we pretend everything is fine. i almost can't sleep at night and most americans have sugar-coated dreams of "who wants to be americas biggest sellout." most think it is paranoia, or a mass confusion, but we have been taken for a ride and the tank is almost empty. the wolves will turn on us. they don't scare me, it's the "do nothing" and "trust them" americans i am afraid of. most people say they are not political and don't understand whats going on. the others act like i am the one who is over exaggerating and making shit up just to start drama. well i am not fucking crazy, and the only thing i have left in this world is my will for truth. i truly know how fucked up this country has gotten and i am not being delusional. things are going to get worse. they will continue to lie and no one will do anything about it. All i hear from the other side, "well where is the smoking gun in this." all i can say to them is please, for the sake of your children, open your eyes before it is too late, the smoking gun is all around us. the smoke is so thick only those who have the desire to feel around are piecing the puzzle together and the truth is really scary. our government has been taken over. our rights are almost gone. this country is on the wrong track and there is a wall in front of us that is being built faster than we can slow it down. i wish we had a super hero to save us. then again, i have lived in poverty most of my life and maybe those who pretend that i am crazy could use a dose of what i have had to struggle through. unfortunately the ones who caused this are among the wealthiest people in the world now. that makes them untouchable, they can buy their way out of any situation.

Ha! I am not impressed! I live in Pennsylvania and out of our 22, 291 bridges, 4,028 are functionally obsolete and 5,532 are structurally deficient, for a grand total percentage of 42.9%! Woo-hoo! I am the winner!

Seriously, I live in Allegheny County and about 320 bridges, in one county, are either obsolete or deficient. Of course, everyone who lives here knows that. The good news is that many of them are shorter bridges, not that high, and over large creeks or small rivers, so one would hopefully stand a decent chance of surviving the crash. Unfortunately, the rest are over one of our three main rivers, where one would not stand as good of a chance. I used to have to cross one on my commute with a light at the end, and I could literally feel the bridge shaking when trucks went past the other way as I waited. I would roll my window down every day under the theory that if it fell I might be able to get out of my open window fairly quickly. I always wondered what percentage of my tax money that is being spent eavesdropping on phone calls it would take to fix our bridges. Homeland security, indeed.

Even better, the Late Late Nite FDL post that follows has a YouTube Liza & Judy duet of "Chicago" also from her Live at the Palladium concert.

Thanks for linkup skippy. Wish you'd told us about the soul-crushing McCormick Place sooner.

Thanks for the link to website synthesizing the overwhelming Saudi Arabian financial backing as well are Saudi nationals training as foot soldiers for Al Qaeda. Every US voter must clearly understand that Saudi Arabia, not Iran or Iraq, is the main engine behind Al Qaeda! We cannot help but conclude that our own shakedown artists Cosa Nostra Famiglia Bush has provided the protection and cover that has kept our eyes off the mark.
