McCain Loses To Everyone in Iowa...Including Democrats

Democrats.org:

One more example of the total disintegration of John McCain's presidential campaign:

McCain's support has collapsed in Iowa. His support among registered Republicans dropped from 14.4 percent in March to 1.8 percent in July-August.

And take a look at this:

UI political scientists note that McCain has been passed in popularity not only by former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., who earned 5.2 percent support, but also by a Democratic challenger, Obama, who is supported by 6.7 percent of Republicans.

Ouch.  When more than THREE TIMES the Republicans support Obama over you, that's gotta smart.

OBAMA-MANIA!!!!!

It must suck to sell out everything you believe in, suck up to complete assholes, even advocate torture to try to get an office, and then have people say, "meh, no thanks."

Maybe he should hire staff that doesn't suck.

Hahaha.....ahem...ok, we've covered that.

Its tragic that a man who lost the presidency in 2000 (lets face it, he wouldve won) because of rampant cheating is now going to lose the 2008 GOP nomination for trying to be just like the guys who cheated him out of the 2000 nomination.

What is wrong with me? Somewhere deep down inside I kinda feel sorry for him. Not a lot, but a little. He screwed himself over and has no one to blame for this but himself.

All true, he let Bush lie about him and then embraced him.
He has no idea what he is saying from day to day.
I feel sorry for him in a way, but he brought it on himself.

Patricia, I'm with you. I do feel a little sorrow for the man. What a dreadful way to end a career so late in life.
On the other hand, I don't call him McCrazy for nuthin'. He's batshit crazy.

But McCain has the support of Colon Bowell.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/08/09/powell-donates-to-mccain/

WASHINGTON (CNN) – CNN has learned the presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain received a check Wednesday from former Secretary of State Colin Powell, providing a symbolic boost to the Arizona Republican’s struggling White House bid.

McCain spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker confirmed the contribution, telling CNN, “The Senator appreciates the support of General Powell.” Powell’s office did not return calls seeking comment.

According to a review of Federal Election Commission records, Powell has not donated to any other candidate this year.

While the McCain campaign would not be more specific about the contribution, a source familiar with the matter said the check totaled $2,300, the maximum an individual can give to any one candidate in the primary season, hinting at a likely endorsement in the future.

Senator McCain, do the only thing you can to salvage your name from the septic tank; resign and come clean about how bad things have become in both Washington DC and in the Republican party. Tell the country they need to wake up and take back their government from the crooks who have stolen it before it is too late. Or sit back and watch as your legacy circles the bowl.

Andotech's picture

An endorsement by the ghost of Saddam Hussein would probably go further than an endorsement by Colon Bowell. Geez... that's the last thing a presidential candidate needs! What a party of tools.

And you think the republicans wouldn't relish voting against Audie Murphey if he was running and had a (D) by his name in 2008?

Dude, you don't know the republican party that well. This isn't a race to win the hearts and minds of the 40% of the population who consider themselves 'Republican', or to keep the 40% of the population that considers themself democratic - it is a race for the 20% of the population who actually ARE independent.

The people I know who "were" Republics now say they're either libertarian or independents. Not sure if any would ever vote for a Democrat, but it seems any R who supports this idiot-in-chief is screwed. And it sure looks like ALL the major candidates love them some Chimpy. They are doomed!

I think Powell just felt sorry for him and made that donation.

The person I do really feel sorry for is his wife. McCain probably has a big ego and he's going through the time of realizing he's getting old and trying to deny it. Things could be tense in the McCain household as this older man faces this demoralizing defeat. Cindy McCain is probably having to put up with a lot.

" Ouch. When more than THREE TIMES the Republicans support Obama over you, that’s gotta smart "

Not only does that Gotta smart, it is actually promising that there are some republicans that are beginging to show signs of using that education and formulating their own decisions.

Their not quite there yet, but it is a beginning.

As Huckabee recently became aware of. " If republicans don't start talking about health care, they won't get elected for a long time to come". Now he is just saying to "talk" about health care. Not actually do anything about it. So you see, its a first baby step for them. And they will fall. And Rush and coulter and Hannity can be there to pick them up and give them that "tough love".

Yeah, even if the bush ordered airstrikes on sanfrancisco, he would still get at least 40% of the vote. That is just the way it is in this partisan country. Before we can defeat it, we have to come to grips with that fact.

Things have changed a lot in our country when it comes to tollerance and acceptance. Sure there are pockets of backward leaning people but I think the majority have realized that women and black people aren't bad people. I think the majority have come to see that we all have value, regardless of our sex or race. At least I sure hope so.

McCain, you just haven't been able to get your message across.

'Bush is great, war is good, staying the course is the right thing to do, torture is fine, immigration is bad'. You need a better campaign staff, Jonh, to sell your message.

On the off chance that you don't win the republican nomination, and your message doesn't arouse the american voters to sweep you into the presidency, all may not be lost.

If someone named Jesus Martinez doesn't decide to run against you, you may be able to keep your Arizona senate seat. Otherwise, you'll have to depend on your old buddy George to give you a security guard job in Crawford, Texas.

There you'll be able to spend your waning days in the shade of a Mesquite, watching over the Bush outhouse, dreaming of what might have been if you had been born with brains instead of amoral greed (remember Keating?), and had been a bit more selective in your choice of 'friends', and less of a boot-licking toady.
