McCain Loses To Everyone in Iowa...Including Democrats
One more example of the total disintegration of John McCain's presidential campaign:
McCain's support has collapsed in Iowa. His support among registered Republicans dropped from 14.4 percent in March to 1.8 percent in July-August.
And take a look at this:
UI political scientists note that McCain has been passed in popularity not only by former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., who earned 5.2 percent support, but also by a Democratic challenger, Obama, who is supported by 6.7 percent of Republicans.
Ouch. When more than THREE TIMES the Republicans support Obama over you, that's gotta smart.

OBAMA-MANIA!!!!!
It must suck to sell out everything you believe in, suck up to complete assholes, even advocate torture to try to get an office, and then have people say, "meh, no thanks."
Maybe he should hire staff that doesn't suck.
Hahaha.....ahem...ok, we've covered that.
Its tragic that a man who lost the presidency in 2000 (lets face it, he wouldve won) because of rampant cheating is now going to lose the 2008 GOP nomination for trying to be just like the guys who cheated him out of the 2000 nomination.
The straight-talk express has run out of gas.
What is wrong with me? Somewhere deep down inside I kinda feel sorry for him. Not a lot, but a little. He screwed himself over and has no one to blame for this but himself.
The RETHUGS have no idea the ass whooping their going to receive in 08'.
06' was PT. 1.
PT. 2 will be more ugly.
Those Obama numbers made me smile so hard I hurt my face.
I feel sorry for McCain. His answer about Cheney at the RepuGlican debate Sunday was like looking at the McCain of 8 years ago. I just feel sorry for him now.
Look for Shit-cain, I mean MCCAIN, to commit suicide within the next 3 months.
McCain could of been somebody had he not sold his soul for a piece of silver. Good riddance.
All true, he let Bush lie about him and then embraced him.
He has no idea what he is saying from day to day.
I feel sorry for him in a way, but he brought it on himself.
Be true to yourself no matter what happens, poor Johnny.
What is wrong with me? Somewhere deep down inside I kinda feel sorry for him. Not a lot, but a little. He screwed himself over and has no one to blame for this but himself.
Patricia, I'm with you. I do feel a little sorrow for the man. What a dreadful way to end a career so late in life.
On the other hand, I don't call him McCrazy for nuthin'. He's batshit crazy.
Aww, poor John McCain: sold his soul to the devil, and got *nothing* in return.
Tough shit.
1.8%????
one point eight percent?
i think crotch rot polls better than 1.8%
see ya mickey! although, i'd be a lot happier if romney-yawn wasn't pulling ahead, that is one slick mofo
hopefully the agents of intolerance throw the little guy a bone and give him some speaking gigs or something...
he bombed villages from 30,000 feet, and now he is bombing from ground level
Maybe Mitt can use McCain as a prop. And strap him to the roof of his car in a cage.
But McCain has the support of Colon Bowell.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/08/09/powell-donates-to-mccain/
Shit! What happened? Did he get caught offering a undercover black cop a blow job and $20?
get smart all that means is the repubs will relish voteing against obama in 08
Senator McCain, do the only thing you can to salvage your name from the septic tank; resign and come clean about how bad things have become in both Washington DC and in the Republican party. Tell the country they need to wake up and take back their government from the crooks who have stolen it before it is too late. Or sit back and watch as your legacy circles the bowl.
An endorsement by the ghost of Saddam Hussein would probably go further than an endorsement by Colon Bowell. Geez... that's the last thing a presidential candidate needs! What a party of tools.
McCain's wife will leave him and become Guliani's 5th wife after all this is over.
Smack_dab @ 20:
dude, waaaaay too late for that. had he not helped criminal-in-chief campaign in '04, then maybe, MAYBE, there would be something to salvage. had he not supported the worst foreign policy in america's history belligerently, then possibly.
but, now?
no effin' way.
tyree @ 19:
And you think the republicans wouldn't relish voting against Audie Murphey if he was running and had a (D) by his name in 2008?
Dude, you don't know the republican party that well. This isn't a race to win the hearts and minds of the 40% of the population who consider themselves 'Republican', or to keep the 40% of the population that considers themself democratic - it is a race for the 20% of the population who actually ARE independent.
tyree @ 19:
The people I know who "were" Republics now say they're either libertarian or independents. Not sure if any would ever vote for a Democrat, but it seems any R who supports this idiot-in-chief is screwed. And it sure looks like ALL the major candidates love them some Chimpy. They are doomed!
I think Powell just felt sorry for him and made that donation.
The person I do really feel sorry for is his wife. McCain probably has a big ego and he's going through the time of realizing he's getting old and trying to deny it. Things could be tense in the McCain household as this older man faces this demoralizing defeat. Cindy McCain is probably having to put up with a lot.
McCain shows up to the party in a ripped dress.
" Ouch. When more than THREE TIMES the Republicans support Obama over you, that’s gotta smart "
Not only does that Gotta smart, it is actually promising that there are some republicans that are beginging to show signs of using that education and formulating their own decisions.
Their not quite there yet, but it is a beginning.
As Huckabee recently became aware of. " If republicans don't start talking about health care, they won't get elected for a long time to come". Now he is just saying to "talk" about health care. Not actually do anything about it. So you see, its a first baby step for them. And they will fall. And Rush and coulter and Hannity can be there to pick them up and give them that "tough love".
casper46 @ 25:
Yeah, even if the bush ordered airstrikes on sanfrancisco, he would still get at least 40% of the vote. That is just the way it is in this partisan country. Before we can defeat it, we have to come to grips with that fact.
Seele^ @ 24:
first off i aint no dude!second the republicans are just itching to have a black man to vote against or a woman like hillery, neither ones going to bring in enough votes from democrats or red necks to win the presidency in 08!
Obviously McCain is pulling back so that he can spring forward, like an elastic, if you will.
-GSD
Cindy McCain in 2009 will be known as Cindy Guliani. Beware people of America, Rudy's divorce attorney needs more work!
Tyree still thinks the Republican base is 40%.......
Funny stuff.
-GSD
tyree @ 30:
"...republicans are just itching to have a black man to vote against or a woman like hillery" or a rich white guy like John Kerry! Are you starting to connect the dots with reguards to the republican party yet?
GSD @ 33:
Isn't is?
i mean 'isn't it?' If Bush ran again in 2008, what percentage of the population would vote for him? From what I have seen in my 30 years, it would be about 40%.
Rove is laughing. He's ruined McCain twice and both times McCain embraced Bush.
-GSD
1) It sounds McCain will be kicking the political bucket before Gravel... that has to hurt the old warrior bad.
2) I have this 'gut feeling' that if Republicans indeed prefer Obama to McCain, it is just as bad a sign for Obama as it is for McCain.
GSD @ 33:
laugh all you want but they aint going to elect a black man and even women wont back a woman for president , look at geraldinf farraro women fucked over her being vice president!
Those polling as identified as Republics are down in the low 30's.
Bush has taken a hammer to the base.
Wait till he starts pushing for more war in September.
Don't get me wrong, the Dems will buckle like plastic in the hot sun, but Bush will push those remaining to be moved off a cliff.
-GSD
I don't think Rove had anything to do with it this time. I think McCain's stand on immigration is what did him in with the Republicans.
tyree @ 39:
Tyree still thinks the US demographics are the same as 1950.
There's a change coming.
-GSD
pissed off patricia @ 41:
Which is Bush's stand.
-GSD
Sure, there are some men and women who would never vote for a female or a black man, but those are the oldsters and idiots of our country. I think they are out numbered today.
GSD @ 42:
I know, GSD. I don't know if McCain took that stand because he believes in it or because he was supporting bush. Either way, their party didn't like it.
GSD @ 42:
bet your ass theirs plenty will stay home before theyll vote for obama, and wtf you know about 1950, things aint changed that much they just want you to think they have!
pissed off patricia @ 44:
Yeah, Bush is the last gasp of the Old Confederacy. That is why they want to ruin America. If they can't have it, no one can.
Like a ten year old tipping a checker-board over as they start to lose.
-GSD
whoops about the mixup block quotes!
pissed off patricia @ 46:
Which goes back to my point about Rove destroying him twice.
-GSD
tyree @ 47:
bet your ass theirs plenty will stay home before theyll vote for obama, and wtf you know about 1950, things aint changed that much they just want you to think they have!
If the republicans stay home like you claim, that would make the democrats job easier in 2008, but these republicans will turn out their vote, but like i said, only 40% of voters are republicans.

GSD @ 50:
McCain destroyed himself. It wasn't Rove telling McCain and Bush to hold hands and smile for the camera in 2000.
[Deleted. Please restrict your comments to the topic and not other posters]
Things have changed a lot in our country when it comes to tollerance and acceptance. Sure there are pockets of backward leaning people but I think the majority have realized that women and black people aren't bad people. I think the majority have come to see that we all have value, regardless of our sex or race. At least I sure hope so.
Besides, didn't somebody call Bill Clinton the first black president? Lolz, you better start donating money to the GOP Tyree, because even in fundraising the republicans are falling behind!
GSD @ 52:
go on and delude yourself ,even if they would really win theyll rig the vote and the pundits will say obama lost because americans dont want a black man running america and the same goes for a woman!
whoops, my mistake site moderator. Hey, GOBAMA!
[Deleted. The flamewar is over, time to move on]
He's currently ahead of me by 1.8% and I'm not even running.
Now THAT'S some straight talking!
sorry thats sweat!sonny
Tyree, are you Republican now? Can I have my guys call you?
dennis @ 62:
yeah dennis you can have them tell me how great the stock market is , thanks
tyree @ 63:
How great it was, you mean?
americans havent changed all the old hates and dislikes are there just under the surface laws wont change that!
dennis @ 64:
sorry dennis i invested all my money in tires made in china , now they recalled all four!
Mccain needs to call it quits. Sucking up to the Rovians who played the dirty tricks in South Carolina on him in 2000
just kidding dennis about the tires i dont buy anything from communist china!
how long must a candidate remain in a campaign in order to receive matching funds? anyone?
at this rate i would feel it is a safe guess to say the McCain will drop out shortly after that date. oh wait, this is McCain, he will never quit. he is seeing progress in the tinyest of places. but one thing is for sure, he is strolling in the market place of the republican primary, with much less protection from above.
Now THAT'S funny.
McCain, you just haven't been able to get your message across.
'Bush is great, war is good, staying the course is the right thing to do, torture is fine, immigration is bad'. You need a better campaign staff, Jonh, to sell your message.
On the off chance that you don't win the republican nomination, and your message doesn't arouse the american voters to sweep you into the presidency, all may not be lost.
If someone named Jesus Martinez doesn't decide to run against you, you may be able to keep your Arizona senate seat. Otherwise, you'll have to depend on your old buddy George to give you a security guard job in Crawford, Texas.
There you'll be able to spend your waning days in the shade of a Mesquite, watching over the Bush outhouse, dreaming of what might have been if you had been born with brains instead of amoral greed (remember Keating?), and had been a bit more selective in your choice of 'friends', and less of a boot-licking toady.
McCain sold his soul to Boosh..what did he expect?People are on to him..even his own party.SEE YA...pindejo
tyree @ 68:
tyree, please, gimme the secret, i need it. i think the air i breath is assembled in china. maybe i was made in china, i need to talk to the folks...
McCain losing his ass? To nearly everyone including a democrat?.....Oh what a surprise... You could've pushed me over with a feather at that news.....JD
Samson- @ 73:
the secret! just dont buy anything that says china! works everytime!
if he plays it right, he can come back and win the nomination.
but playing it right means Iowa or bust. He has to pour everything he has into Iowa.
...and he wont do that. cuz hes not a courageous guy and hes not a risk taker.
so goodbye, john mccain!
pissed off patricia @ 44:
you may live to get old yourself ,if your lucky!
hill08 @ 76:
You are serious, and that makes me laugh.
This would be a good time to get McCain in a poker game.
He probably still has some Keating loot stashed, it'd be nice to clean him out.
Who gives a crap?
It's Iowa, with their illegitimate douche bag caucus system.
Seriously, most major candidates, of both parties, should boycott
those idiotic caucuses.
