Stewart: So it's an election with no Democrats, in one of the whitest states in the union, where rich candidates pay $35 for your votes. Or, as Republicans call it, their vision for the future.

As usual, JS calls it perfectly!
And Bill Maher said on Larry King Live that Mormons not only go to heaven if they are good, but they get their own planet!
"Don't you think Jesus would have won?
lol owned!
Mid West and Southern Repubs identify with Huckabee because he is a recovered LARD ASS.
NOT because he is preachy.
Nobody likes that anymore.
[Deleted. Still peddling an NWO conspiracy theory.]
I spent a weekend in central Iowa once. Seemed like the longest freakin' month of my life.
"I’ll give a prize if . . . "
Proof positive that some drink the Kool-aid, and others eat the crystals right out of the foil pouch.
And where are all the journalists' missing 'nads? Jon Stewart may make us laugh, but he also tells it like it is.
I have to ask this question because I just don't know the answer. Do Democrats have one of these silly straw polls or is it just Republicans? God I hope the answer is no, dems don't do these silly things.

Jesus will come back to fix things, but in the meantime the reich-wing will act as His vanguards.
The repugs put the mean back into meantime.
pissed off patricia @ 9:
"Straw Poll" sounds like something from the teevee show Hee Haw so I'm guessing that it's only for rural repugs.
The snowman speaks. Will Mitt listen?

Hmmmm, wasn't it the VOTERS that had to pay the 35 bucks?
pissed off patricia @ 9:
Both parties do this. I remember back in the 1988 election, there was a huge whoop-de-doo about the results of the Iowa straw poll in selecting a Democrat candidate, and Hart was in the lead until he caught in a sex scandal.
Blue Buddha @ 20:
...or maybe it was the Iowa poll that was big after the scandal, because the lead was a toss-up at that point. Hey... it was 20 years ago, and I was teen then.
I'd druther have a hay than straw anyday:

I'm the straw that stirs the poll.
Paying for votes is nothing new to American Politics - if it wasn't beer, it was money
MadMoll @ 24:
What about the pot in every chicken?
What I find very sad and discouraging is that most Republicans watching that interview would accept Huckabee's assessment that it was 150 degrees in Iowa that day. Mind you, a fifth grader would call him crazy, but the Republican kool-aid drinkers will still support and trust this man for president.
I think the white man has fucked up the world long enough. Yes, I'm a white dude, but when you look back in history on how many civilizations we have destroyed, how many people we've slaughtered through greed and killed through disease and how we've raped the planet and other humans for the almighty dollar and our egos it's time for a change. The white man is the scourge of the Earth. The American Indians (the ones that are still left) should be mad as hell for how we pilliaged this land. And then we go and fuck up other people's countries. If we aren't fucking them over, we're either telling them what to do or strategizing with some other people to fuck them over. And if you look back at these egomaniacs. It's the white man. The white Anglo-Saxon gene. We don't need another 9/11 we need another AIDS scare to wipe out the Republican fudge packing party. That's the scourge of this society.
our* vision for the future.
Not to be a stooge here but one word misquoted can change the entire meaning, although in this case it didn't.

Good analysis as always, but great zinger at the end!
Geez... between the actual events and the people reporting them, the jokes just write themselves, i bet.
The Republican vision of the future is a police state without that gd piece of paper.
Comment censorship ftl. The NWO is true and the censorship above is proof that the money crooks and liars receives from the Hillary Clitnon's campaign is compromising this website.
Who won, they guy who could kiss a pig on the lips with a straight face?
I haven't heard if the pig was straight or not.
When people used to say they would do something when pigs fly, did they finally have to do it during the swine flu epidemic?
Umm well yes John, I agree, Jesus would have won with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread...Probably would have won by merely turning a single glass of water to wine... But really, I don't think Jesus, knowing what we think he knows or knew... would have or want to have anything to do with that phony popularity contest for criminally ambitous morons supported by willing dupes.....JD
