Simply Disturbing
The wisest course would have been for President Bush to use his nuclear weapons to slaughter Iraqis until they complied with his demands, or until they were all dead. Then there would be little risk or expense and no American army would be left exposed...read on

In a word Philip Atkinson is what the English call a "nutter".
There's still time . . . there are people where I work who think we should nuke Iraq on the way out . . . . they have that mad look in their eyes.
What in the hell makes these people like this? How can they be so evil? did they really spawn from the same America that i did?
He obviously doesn't understand the situation because if he did he would see that the evil dictator was propped up by the United States and that no WMD's were found. Honestly I think George W. Bush would have looked a lot worse killing every Iraqi only to find out there are no WMD's, maybe that is what he is going for. President Bush: At least he didn't nuke Iraq.
Bill O'Lielee @ 2:
Yes, these are the same mental midgets that argue the point that if the US leaves Iraq, genocide will occur.
Apparently they think genocide is only acceptable if carried out via nuclear obliteration and not sectarian strife.
Why does anyone still listen to these blood thirsty mental defectives?
-GSD
Hail Chimpster!
This poster forgot one important item about Caesar - Rome was not a democracy. He also left out a third option - if the leader of the United States promotes a program or law, fairly and honestly, implements the program, finds out it didn't work, he could say to the people, "Hey, we tried, but this didn't work out the way we envisioned. I made a mistake. Let's try something else or fix what we've got." Something George Bush hasn't tried and wouldn't even know how to admit to a mistake.
These nuts think that because we have nuclear weapons just sitting there taking up space, we might as well use them.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Our greatest threats come within not from without. They have airplanes, we have nuclear weapons. We need to stop and disarm the Christofascist jihadists within our own borders first.
Bill O'Lielee @ 2:
And I expect that Darth Cheney is one of them.
And President-for-Life Bush. Yes, that's just what we need. Wackos that make Jack D. Ripper look sane cultivating the winger crowd and coming out to openly push bare-faced fascism and genocide. Well, at least they're not trying to disguise it anymore. Ya think O'Reilly's going to go all sanctimonious about hate speech on the internets over this one?
except for that whole nuclear winter thing...
What a frigin' Kook! He needs on of these!
GSD @ 5:
I started to get in a work inappropriate confrontation with a consultant who kept saying, "I don't care" when I mentioned that we have killed a million Iraqis.
Delia @ 8:
My namesake, Mr. OhLieLee, has a special room reserved for him in the eternal magma room.
They should probably rename the site to "Authoritarians 'R' Us".
Wow another day and a life is repug stupidville.
Syring is another asshole worth mentioning.
These people are clearly Insane and Dangerous - why are they sill roaming the streets and not in the rubber rooms of some mental institutions? No, really. I'm serious.
Evidently, he slept through the part where Caesar was slaughtered by the Senators and Rome descended into a social political free for all between the survivors. Additionally, he fails to explain why Caesar slaughtered Gaul. Money. Greed. Terrific motives which are quickly forgotten when the other side pushed back and the slaughter became justified. I wonder if he understands that most human beings simply want to live quiet lives and enjoy their culture, lifestyle, and families. They only become enemies when attacked. The situation in the middle east has been brewing for thousands of years. The issue of whoever started the fight is moot.
It's called the Authoritarian Personality. It is obviously a psychological disorder where probably these people feel extremely...EXTREMELY insecure. To put it in a liberal's words: The men have a very very small penis and low self esteem and the women wish they had a penis but even if they did it would end up being small...thus more insecure, homophobic, xenophobic...and the list goes on. I'm afraid they may be with us to stay....Damn.
A right wing authoritarian laid bare for all to see.
Can you say scary?
Surely this is some kinda joke. An Onion editorial or something.
I'd hate to think anyone would seriously consider such a course of action.
It's a spoof site. They want bush to get what cesar got.
They have to go back to the Roman Empire???Slaughter all of Gaul?Use Nukes to quell the Iraqi's....this is more than simply disturbing.....it's insane!
Ruthless People @ 7:
I don't think you have to say Christofascist. History will show that Christian is the default fascism.
Larry @ 20:
I sincerely hope you are right about this....
Geesh....
rcg @ 3:
this is the compassionate conservative reichwingnut neocons at their best.
ALL A BUNCH OF BASTARDS.
No way!!! What happened to rational thought??? WTF???!!!
I think one realizes that a certain segment of the American population is totally friggin nuts. The ones who generally advocate such violence, yelling the loudest and the most vulgar are the same ones who you will find are nothing but wimps. That's this wingnut digby with the blog.
We would be one step closer to peace on earth if we could just nuke the neocons.
wow i love the bill maher add!
I like shrub being the "victim of Democracy", kinda quaint.
Rob Riggle from Iraq on the DAILY SHOW!
It seems this guy is a certified nut. If you have a look at his bio, it condemns him utterly:
I mean, all the Freudian traumatic childhood stuff is there. And I missed the part where he explained his qualifications to us (sorry, I forgot, Universities are too PC).
Unfortunately, he is an Australian (although originally British), which makes me rather embarrassed. I have always known we have our share of far-right nutters, but I didn't realise that some were quite so far gone.
sorry about the extended link (must close tags!)
See!
This is why we have to work together and kick ass next year to elect Democrats, no matter who gets nominated.
These nuts are this/close to the button now, and the next Repub president will be even more beholden to them.
Junker @ 31:
Funny how so many of these whack-o's are Brits or Canadians.
We must look like easy picking for a lunatic wanting to get ahead in the war mongering game.
wingnuts.
Geez.
Had this moron actually made an effort to learn the history of the Roman empire he'd discovered that it...Ahh...didn't end so well. What an effin fool.
OK...lets say these nutcases do nuke Iraq......what do you think will happen next....peace? doubt it.
the connies want to control a woman's pregnancy but think nothing of killing millions "over there"
Ceasar, beware the ides of september:) Genral Betrayus is
reportinghere. ;)Its just fancy psycho babble...ignorant and destructive.
What's even more fucked up is that there are people that read it and agree...lurkers in this very place.
And we're the haters? Haters are the ones that quietly agree with this garbage.
Surely, Mr. ATkinson is for withdrawal, I'm thinking, before the nuke throwing starts?
What scares me is why are these nut-jobs running around trying to clean up their own poop.
The "nuke Iran and declare marshall law" theory suddenly has a little a little more teeth.
I wouldn't put anything past this administration.
Unfortunately, these Family Security loons are for real, and according to one of the posters on Digby, they may be a front for something more sinister.
The Center for Security Policy, a rightwing neocon think tank filled with all the usual suspects.
link didn't work. try again
"no American army would be left exposed"
Except, perhaps, to massive amounts of radiation. Oh, those innocent Iraqis we were looking to free? Ha! Ha! You're so funny, caring about them!
Not surprising that some of the people most clamoring for US global imperialism are not from the US. People that insecure that they want to subjugate themselves to the biggest bully on the block... it just has to exacerbate their psychoses that they're from "wimpy" countries.
After reading this post by Digby, does anyone doubt that the wingnuts in the White House, with such ardent and insane backers and advisers, are on the brink of declaring MARTIAL LAW, and ditching our democracy???
Immediately after getting re-elected in 2004, Bush and his wingnuts pals set in motion their plans for seizing permanent power, with Alberto Gonzales doing what he's been doing at the Justice Department an important part.
But let's not forget the secret warrantless wiretapping of U.S. citizens, U.S. spy satellites training their spy cameras on U.S. soil, large amounts of taxpayer money going around the nation to police departments and DHS centers to buy their loyalty, the building of $385 million worth of secret detention centers due for completion by the end of this year, DHS setting up a TIPS program from which to pay informers who spy on and turn in other citizens, pastors being recruited into "Clergy Response Teams" to mobilize in case of martial law, Bush executive orders stating he'll "consult" with Congress and the Supreme Court "if" he declares martial law following a national emergency (and solely based on his judgment), the overturning of the 1878 Posse Comitas Act and suspension of the habeas corpus right of suspected "enemy combatants" (based solely on Bush arbitrarily deciding who or who isn't an "enemy combatant).
Bush-declared MARTIAL LAW looms, my friends, my fellow patriotic American citizens.
And to hell with Bush being Caesar.
This Philip Atkinson, the schoolyard smarm, cannot forget that Caeser didn't get his empire until his buddy Crassus lost his third of the Triumvirate defeated Roman legions at Carrhae--to an ancient Iraqi-Iranian army, then called the Parthian Empire.
I can see clearly you in my dreams, Philip Atkinson, making plastic model airplanes and eating boogers, up in your room, watching your lessers on the street below.
Mark above has already noted that this Atkinson guy is not only a friggin jack ass, but he also doesn't know his Roman History all that well. He seems to have forgotten that Julius Caesar does not equal Octavian/Augustus Caesar (I guess this moron doesn't even have HBO!). And yes, Octavian was eventually able to defeat his enemies, gain control of the entire empire and usher in the so-called Pax Romana. Nonetheless the Roman Empire was inherently unstable and remained at relative peace for 200 years more because of luck (the great pandemics didn't show up until approximately the 3rd century) than anything else. And during these "peaceful" years, Rome enjoyed Caligula (whose ghost now resides in the White House), Nero, civil war in 69, another civil war in 96, and then, after approximately nine decades of good luck, gradual decline. During the Third Century, Rome was in hell, and once it emerged, for this, the system that "saved" the empire was even more authoritarian. I guess that sounds like a jolly good time, especially if you are a friggin, right-wing jack ass. Why are these people so incredibly stupid?
If these were Democrats saying this ten years ago...
I wonder if Atkinson (the author of the piece) realizes that Pakistan has nukes? What does he think Pakistan would do (let alone any other country who would consider us a global threat) if we nuked Iraq?
I can only hope there are more rational and thinking people in power in America than people who have completely deluded themselves, like Atkinson.
What is really disturbing is all the good citizens who are OK with torture and think bombing the Middle East to gravel is an attractive option.
"...unt aftavud vee get zee jooz."
Yessss, of course; nuking the middle east and going batshit crazy on the rest of the world will resolve all of democracy's domestic shortcomings. Waaall, I just don't understand why they'd feel the need to scrub their archives.
Does this guy have an HO-scale zeppelin field/rally viewing stand in his basement by any chance?
This is PROOF that reich-wingers are indeed terrorists.
All I can say to these radical right-wing extremists and terrorists is:
Try it and see how short your life-span becomes.
This nut job who wrote this thinks the military would fight to keep him in power for life? Please. At the rate Bush is abusing the military he will be lucky if the military doesn't remove HIM from power before 2009.
Truthiness. That's what is is folks. How will historians in the future even have a CLUE what the truth is right now in 1984, er 2007.
yeah..... nuke the middle east..
blowup & irradiate all the oil.....
world chaos....
cats 'n dogs living together...
throw in a dash of christian identity.....
sounds like Quentin Tarrentino's new project
John Amato...
I thought you were kidding or exaggerating for effect... Jeebus H Khrist! He actually said that shit!
"The wisest course would have been for President Bush to use his nuclear weapons to slaughter Iraqis until they complied with his demands, or until they were all dead. Then there would be little risk or expense and no American army would be left exposed. But if he did this, his cowardly electorate would have instantly ended his term of office, if not his freedom or his life."
Cowardly electorate???? How about sane human beings!
I don't think I've heard a batshit crazy rant like this since Curtis Le May and on the bombing in Vietnam!
rcg @ 3:
I don't know. I wish I knew, but I honestly don't.
It is these types who make me question Socrates idea that all humans strive for good and iti is only a lack of education that holds them back.
For though I wish it to be true, how can one educate such as this?
His words betray his people, his nation, and indeed - his faith. This article stands very much against *every* advance society has made since humans started using fire.
I won't say more because I'm not sure I can hold my anger in check.
Democracy is not the ideal. Consensus is the ideal. What has this administration done to build consensus? ZERO.
The military swears an oath to defend the constitution, not some strategically shaved prosimian in a suit.
If Bush did make a completely blatant (as opposed to the current slightly less blatant) grab for dictatorial power, it would be the duty of the military to immediately detain him and hand him over to Congress for trial.
'Simple' as that.
Is this person really proposing the genocide of everyone in Iraq?
Why is it so hard for these people to understand that waving a nuke in someone's face doesn't work...
The scary part is that George Bush and his minions have been acting like he is president for life. He's still sucking up power like he doesn't realize that it will all go to someone else in 2008.
Scariest thing is James Woolsly is on the board of directors. Former Head of the CIA Woolsly. National Radio host Laura Ingram. Gee can't imagine why there are so many conspiracy theories. Maybe it's because of all the G-Damned conspiracies.
Julius Ceasar did not slaughter all the gauls he played them against each other all the time. This person knows nothing about history. I'm no christian but what kinda christian thinks Rome was something to yearn for. Besides that Julius Ceasar was more than likely not hated like Bush.
You know we should really start stock piling weopons and ammo at this point. It is very frustrating to know this kind of news and not know what to do. Write your elected officials what a joke. The democrates have been consistantly disappointing.
I meet people almost everyday that are hardcore conservatives and they do not even know it. Imagine if there was no internet... anyway. One last thing check out
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/features/century_of_the_self_...
They are available on google video.
This is why these nut-balls/neocons need to be put out of power
and never allowed to have it. Fascist authoritarians.
...
thats gotta be fake...no way!
rcg @ 15:
how soon we forget ! reagan had them released from the sanitariems in the 80s to save a buck!
The only drawback I can see to democracy is that its current form in the U.S. allows people to vote when they can seriously espouse ideas like nuclear war and genocide. Sorry, my liberal acceptance of other positions doesn't extend to would-be mass murderers.
This is so adolecently Conservative think tank juvenile goo-losh.
Fry these two items atated;
Their Framework #1
The inadequacy of Democracy, rule by the majority, is undeniable – for it demands adopting ideas because they are popular, rather than because they are wise.
So a idea tht is "popular" can in no way be "Wise" as well?
-(Its wise as long as only a Republican decides it is)?
'So let Mark Foley decide if Pedaphilia is a crime, he is republican?
Framework#2
When faced with the possible threat that the Iraqis might be amassing terrible weapons that could be used to slay millions of citizens of Western Civilization, President Bush took the only action prudence demanded and the electorate allowed: he conquered Iraq with an army.
"I know where the WMD's are, they are North-South-east-West of Tirkrit", Don Rumsfeld.
-Bush took the "only" action "prudence" demanded?
-There has never been a single military scenario, nor a single political plan, but very many options to deal with every issue of action on other Governments.
- Now Bush chose one option he may call prudent by his judgment. But the American people were led to believe the President had much sounder judgment and he would utilize it. We find it not to be the case. And difference with the Prsidents judgment was muted in the media when addressing the fallicy of Bush's course prior invasion.
Now all the Nuke'em carping. Not sure if it is worth addressing. Ask yourself why the big Oil Co's were brought in prior to the invasion? Do these reckless conservative that seek the rapture really believ Bush was invading Iraq for anything other than oil? What good would conquering a country wealthy in oil with nuke if the nukes will prevent you from exploiting those oil reserves.
I can see it at the pumps- regular, ethenol, premium, unleaded and no-radiation. Another free market choice for the consumer...........
"If President Bush copied Julius Caesar by ordering his army to empty Iraq of Arabs and repopulate the country with Americans, he would achieve immediate results: popularity with his military; enrichment of America by converting an Arabian Iraq into an American Iraq (therefore turning it from a liability to an asset); and boost American prestiege while terrifying American enemies."
I'm ready! The Sunshine Retirement Community right outside of Samarra is the perfect place to lay back by the pool with a Mojito and scare the hell out of the staff. My prestige is getting a boost already!
I just watched Nuremberg last night on Television. Brian Cox played Hermann Goring. This Phillip Atkinson makes Goring look like a piker.
Don't rule a Bush dictatorship out! If convenient catastrophic and catalyzing events happen next year, the election may be delayed. Just wait and see.
Are you making a hopeful prediction? Don't think the repubs are brave enough to match up with the Dem candidates? Come on, some of them like Cheney had to really fight for those 5 deferments. Now that is tough...........
Whoa. My family feels more secure already.
“If President Bush copied Julius Caesar by ordering his army to empty Iraq of Arabs and repopulate the country with Americans, he would achieve immediate results: popularity with his military; enrichment of America by converting an Arabian Iraq into an American Iraq (therefore turning it from a liability to an asset); and boost American prestiege while terrifying American enemies.”
Er... I'm not sure that this will win the hearts and minds of any other Middle Eastern Country...
"President George W. Bush is the 43rd President of the United States. He was sworn in for a second term on January 20, 2005 after being chosen by the majority of citizens in America to be president."
If your going to try and write a 'professional' paper it might help to at least try to learn the difference between a majority and plurality. In 2004, about 60% of the eligible people voted. Of the ones that did, Bush barely got a majority of them with 51%. That means about one third of eligible voters voted for W.
Atkinson refuses to learn from history. We are all acutely aware of how things turned out for old Julius. And for Rome. One was murdered by his own colleagues. The other died the slow but inexorable death that becomes all empires. So much for post graduate education.
Psychopath Ten to one he considers himself a Christian too.
I guess the neocon/wingnut/Repugnant clusterfuck is still trying to get a handle on this new-fangled democracy thing.
YEAH...YEAH......THAT'S THE TICKET!............completely, certifiably insane.but ten again look who we're talkng about.............they are nuts.
Caligula.
j swift @ 78:
Of course he does. He explicitly invokes Bush's "duty to his God" - nobody except a self-serving Religiofascist (see righties? We can do it too) uses language like that.
Keep in mind - I DO consider myself a Christian. In the "Jesus died for our sins, was a kind and caring and humane individual who would do anything to help people, deserving or not" vein. Not the "Well I'm better than you because I have religion" vein.
*sigh* I'll hold off - I'll start ranting if I get going.
Suffice to say - if push comes to shove, I believe folks of this man's totalitarian stripe are in for a rude awakening. I know *VERY* few folks with a military background who'd go for this kind of thing. Heck - if they heard this guy mutter something like this, I know my uncle in particular would be uhm... well lets just say I suspect the argument would be short.
In fact, as bizarre as this sounds - let em try it. Seriously.
In the (in)famous words of Bush himself - bring 'em on.
They try to take our country and we'll show them who the real Americans are.
Terry Jones, I feel, provides a better analogy between Bush and Caesar with his Julius Caesar had Gaul; Bush just has gall.
In other words, it wasn't an army that Julius Caesar massacred, but a whole population including women, children, old and sick, which, I suppose, is one thing that George W Bush and Julius Caesar do have in common: pretending civilians are armed insurgents.
They all went to the same school (home school?) it seems. On their website an exclusive article by the Editors is headed "Is Any (sic) of the Presidential Candidates Perfect?" Hmm. Is any of the editors conversant with grammar?
A perfect 10 on the Stupidity Scale.
notice the intelligence coupled with the amorality. to this person, it's all a game. there's no humanity involved, just chess pieces. it's simply us or them, no room for empathy -that's for weaklings.
the irony is that the person who wrote this is a physical coward, untested, a pampered momma's boy. never dealt with a shattered casualty of combat. never put his own rump on the line. theoretical warrior. chicken hawk.
I am an educator; and after reading this article and its website, I feel as though I am responsible.
There are simply too many people in the United States who can't engage in mutual perspective taking. This is the highest level of social awareness according to clinical psychologist R. Selman at Harvard. It is the level of cognitive development that is necessary for people to participate in and sustain the interpersonal relations of democratic life. Yet, there is a large percentage of the population who can't relate their perspective to the perspective of others, as in the case of this poor, under-developed individual who doesn't understand the world he lives in and how his ultimate solution would result in his own quick demise.
Social awareness is something that can be developed in most every child and so this problem can be solved fairly easily through a simple restructuring of the curriculum in our public education system. The public, however, needs to insist, as it has done in the past, that in addition to academic and vocational interests, public schools should function to develop youth's personal and social interests. This is key.
Educational policy is responsive to the storylines that float through the mass media. Neoliberals and social conservatives used storylines of poorly functioning schools and parents desire for accountability to institute NCLB that aims to crank out a generation of future workers who can read, write and do math.
You must realize that these policies of standardization and curriculum accountability are pretty much entrenched in the school system at the state level and that they are here to stay. What we can do is balance these policies with different curriculum structures.
But because educational policy is partly driven by the field of public opinion, do your part and clamor for an educational system that engages youth in their development as talented, social beings. Contribute to the public discourse and demand schools that attend to the personal and social interests of youth.
We educators can then push through liberal democratic curriculum policies to balance out the conservative, neoliberal policies of the Bush administration.
The Oracle @ 48:
I started to forward digby's post to every remotely sane person i know with an introduction that read much like the Oracle's. Then I was struck dumb with deja vu. If people don't want to believe such a thing is possible, they will damn well deny it regardless of any evidence. Iraq proved that.
The ran the trial balloon in 2004 positing a scenario in which elections would be "postponed" in the event of a terrorist attack. They were merely musing, right? The nation suffered a failure of imagination at the time, unable to believe that "our government would lie to us to get us into war," as a beloved cousin told me.
I hope things have changed and we will rise against this tide, but if American Idol is on, or if a starlet shows her yoni at a roller derby match, we're sunk. We'll be as distracted as pubescent males at a nip slip.
I'm sure glad Jose Padilla is finally safely behind bars. Why, he could have killed a whole bunch of people, donchaknow.
Having read it a few times, I'm becoming convinced it's the group The Yes-Men.
jesus. no risk? has this freak ever heard of fallout before?
The fact that Family Security Matters are 'busily scrubbing articles all over the place 'must be an indictation that these people must at least be marginally aware of just how insane they are...
Wow! Where are O'Reilly, Hannity and the other so-called liberal mainstream media vilifying this dickhead? Oh, that's right, he's not exposing corruption and fascism and the Bush Crime Family as bad things........
We don't need to worry about foreign terrorists. We have more than enough homegrown ones who think that might makes their "right"right and that only they know the "real truth". Is dictatorship the natural successor to democracy in their book? I only wish that we had enlightened leaders rather than the swamp dwellers in charge now. What is the ultimate goal of these swamp dwellers? It must be to be rich, powerful, and in command of a devastated world full of blind worker ants. I can't even comprehend how disturbed these people really are.
What is the puny penis of a Peruvian Prince compared
to the colossal balls of a Roman gladiator? Rape the
goddess of liberty, castrate the American Eagle but
keep W as dictator hell no never. :-)
That is the neocon action plan all summed up. The neocons don't like democracy. Nor does the Trilateral Commission, one of whose purposes was to "...curb the excesses of democracy..".
The writer, Phillip Whatsisname, reveals the mind and thinking of the sociopath.
I would not be surprised to see Bush and company concoct some excuse to declare martial law between now and the next election. If they think they are going to lose, or if they think that a Democratic candidate who is beyond their control is going to win the nomination, they are going to look at the remaining period of this regime as their last chance for a good time to come to realize the neocon dream.
It would be a very stupid move, but these are people foolish to the point of delusion. They would then have to learn the hard way the lesson they are currently refusing to learn in Iraq and the lesson they have apparently forgotten from Vietnam: that the full might of a heavily militarized police state cannot defeat a broadly supported guerilla insurrection. I don't think the American people would be the sheep they expect them to be.
Why stop with Iraq? I mean there are dissenters right here in the states. Population sterilization begins at home.
This, The Authoritarians, is a must read:
http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey/
It is by Bob altemeyer, PhD. He is the researcher whose work was cited in Conservatives Without Conscience. If you want to understand what the authoritarian and totalitarian personalities are all about.
It's a 261 page pdf, which summarizes 40 years of research. I could not stop turning the pages once I got started; read it over 2 days. This is an essential bit of reading for anyone who considers it important to know the mind of the committed enemies of democracy and liberty.
Atkinson is a complete and thorough going nutcase, potentially dangerous -- but as long as he remains in Australia, I'll not worry about him. Sad and pathetic, really.
Was his juvenile plea for a slaughter-orgy actually posted on that web site or did someone merely link to it in error? If the former, it means that familysecuritymatters.org supports the dismantling of everything Americans have always claimed to hold dear. If the latter, I wonder if an apology will be posted?
These people suggest the solution for Iraq would be the same way Caesar did to Gaul, which they pretend applies to today's context. They suggest Iraq be depopulated and replaced with Americans.
Gitmo's real purpose is to contain people like these so that they never touch a human being.
i know many of have voiced leaving the us, i know many of us write on blogs that "we're outta here" and i know there are some who have followed through and actually left. it's come to the point where perhaps it is time to leave. this place is crazy rife with one-toothed wonders living in trailer parks and the hills across america, it's filled with pseudo intellectuals who would nuke 'em all and sort them out later, as long as they are dead they pose no threat to our good troops or the american people, and finally, there are those who would pose as the true patriots, the defenders of the right america, the minutemen who defend our borders from those who would steal our jobs and soak up our social services, who cross the border to spawn their children so they will be entitled to all the social wealth that america has to offer.
let's nuke the rest of the world that won't march in lock step with us. we've come a long ways baby. it's time to get off this train. this is not the america i was brought up in, or perhaps this ugly america was there all along and we were just too naive to see it for what it really was. in truth, i think it was the latter and it only needed a psychopath in the white house to release it.
This crank is even crazier than all the other crazies in this so-called administration & among its supporters. Turn that rock back over.
Is anybody really going to continue to claim that it's inappropriate to compare these people to the nazis?
It's now getting to the point where there is really no pretense. They are now calling for genocide. Openly.
This clown is just a crank, and does not represent any organization or pilitical group beyond himself. I have yet to encounter anyone from either the right or left who would endorse this madness.
I'm certainly not fond of the Neo-Cons, but trying to apply this guys paint to them is just plain unreasonable.
seriously...is this a spoof? theres no way it's legit...
Here's Mr Atkinson's views on fatness:
http://www.ourcivilisation.com/diet/myth.htm
A powerful, nuanced piece of work from our self-described social outcast/the only sane observer of humanity.
mudshark @ 21:
HeyheyHEY! Enough with the anti-Italian hatred!
Don't forget, my people brought you the orgy, the vomitorium, & fascism!
And we killed Jesus!
Are they fucking kidding?
Its not that democracy is bad, its that they let people with an IQ of 42 vote.
WTF? If these people can't stand democracy, what do they fucking want?!?
How old is Philip Atkinson? Twelve?
"This rage at President Bush is an inevitable result of the system of government demanded by the people, which is Democracy."
If, for a moment we pretend this is a sentence it implies every President has faced rage since Washington.
"When faced with the possible threat that the Iraqis might be amassing terrible weapons that could be used to slay millions of citizens of Western Civilization, President Bush took the only action prudence demanded and the electorate allowed: he conquered Iraq with an army."
Invaded, yes. Conquored, no.
"The wisest course would have been for President Bush to use his nuclear weapons to slaughter Iraqis until they complied with his demands, or until they were all dead."
Very wise...
"The simple truth that modern weapons now mean a nation must practice genocide or commit suicide."
Yes, all the other kids are doing it!
"President Bush cannot do what is necessary for the survival of Americans. He cannot use the nation's powerful weapons."
That explains the lack of armored Humvies.
"Democracy is clearly an enemy of not just truth, but duty and justice, which makes it the worst form of government."
Perhaps this guy would have prefered living in Saudi Arabia?
"However, President Bush has a valuable historical example that he could choose to follow...Caesar pacified Gaul by mass slaughter; he then used his successful army to crush all political opposition at home and establish himself as permanent ruler of ancient Rome..."
Why didn't he use Hitler's invasion of Poland example? I wonder.
Ok, but how would the gardners and the fruit pickers get there from South America?
"He could then follow Caesar's example and use his newfound popularity with the military to wield military power to become the first permanent president of America, and end the civil chaos caused by the continually squabbling Congress and the out-of-control Supreme Court.
President Bush can fail in his duty to himself, his country, and his God, by becoming “ex-president” Bush or he can become “President-for-Life” Bush: the conqueror of Iraq, who brings sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court. Then who would be able to stop Bush from emulating Augustus Caesar and becoming ruler of the world? For only an America united under one ruler has the power to save humanity from the threat of a new Dark Age wrought by terrorists armed with nuclear weapons."
Oh, i see. He is not twelve. He is certifiably insane.
That's some seriously insane shit! I hope the author of that is safely in a rubber room now!
Wow, that is one of the scariest things I've ever read. EVER.
The best way is to emulate Rome and conquer the world via mass slaughter?
Wow.
This is a joke right? These people are seriously fucked up......
They put my mother in a mental institution for less.
[Deleted. This is not the "What Would Ron Do" thread]
There are actually a lot of Republicans who think just like this guy. Drop the atom bomb on those brownies in Iraq. That'll give em what's coming to them.
But then ask them why we can't leave Iraq, and they say chaos will ensue. Huh?
Amazingly twisted logic.
Why stop there? Thars a whole lotta libruls dessycratin' Murika in them thar blue states. Heh heh
It seems to me that this article is not serious-it must be some sort of perverted satire, parody, or something. Anyone else get this impression? It just can't be serious.
I went to the FSM website and read the original posting and then I went today and it had been deleted from their cache. This is serious stuff, it reads like Jonathan Swift, but these folks don't do satire (I guess it is because they do farce so well!) The Board of Directors of FSM is a high powered list. If another disaster happens how far away from martial law is the US, particularly with this kind of thinking counselling the White House?
Good God! I initially thought the quote was some kind of snark, but my jaw dropped when I clicked on the link and read the article. These people are off-the-deep-end INSANE!
Okay, I am going to be devil's advocate, here. At least this guy is admitting what war is about, and for that, he should be commended. Bush and the Neocons couch their conquest in terms of spreading democracy and freedom. Bush is just quixotic enough for me to think that on some level he might even believe it. The way wars have always been fought, with rare exceptions, has always contained at least an element of genocide. When one's enemy tries to kill you, the standard behavior is to reach for the biggest weapon available. If we are going to be over there killing a million men, women, and children over the next fifteen years, I don't see what the difference is if we do it in half a second except for that it will take less time and be less painful for everyone. Note that I am not advocating either staying there for ten years or nuking them. I am just saying that we can't buy into the idea that what we are doing now is any better than nuking them, except maybe in terms of our world standing in public opinion, which is not good. Personally, I think nuking them is far superior to killing them by degrees, but of course then we would have radioactive gasoline, so that will never happen in as long as the half-life would be for that radiation.
Hello all:
I found a great new website that shows how to respond to those rightwingers who seem to know it all check out.
www.howtotalkback.com
Nuke em eh...Till they glow in the dark on our way out ehh....
Riiiighhtt... insane in the membrane...INSANE IN THE BRAIN!!!!
Blaed upthread nailed why... All about that nuke winter thing... Fallout has no politics... It goes where the wind carries it......JD
Where are all the right wing trolls? Don't tell me even they were disturbed by Atkinson's psychopathic rant.
The wisest course would have been for President Bush to use his nuclear weapons to slaughter Iraqis until they complied with his demands, or until they were all dead. Then there would be little risk or expense and no American army would be left exposed. But if he did this, his cowardly electorate would have instantly ended his term of office, if not his freedom or his life.
I have a sad sneaking suspicion that this paragraph reveals a frightening truth. If Cheney and Bush had the support of their electorate they would indeed commit nuclear genocide.
Oh yes nuking. That will solve terrorism and the rest of the world's low feelings toward us.
Why the hell did they put the country's biggest idiot next to The Button? :-(
You'd think these religious wackos would have a little more respect for what they themselves claim to be the fucking Garden of Eden. Hey yeah lets drop a nuclear bomb on the supposed birth place of man.
Brilliant idea.
Check out the web site of Philip Atkinson:
http://www.ourcivilisation.com/
It seems to be the Internet equivalent of a lunatic scribbling all over the walls of his cell. And there's *lots* of scribbling on that site. The guy has also posted the text from reams of books and articles. As one review of his web site states "the reader is presented with a somewhat diverse range of English writers and one that has no apparent common unifying thread" (http://www.intute.ac.uk/artsandhumanities/cgi-bin/fullrecord.pl?handle=h...).
Also, here's an interesting e-mail exchange between Atkinson and a philosophy professor:
http://www.spookyhill.net/2006/03/29/further-to-mr-atkinsons-enquiries/
And an e-mail exchange between Atkinson and a blogger:
http://gonzomuckraker.blogspot.com/2007/08/conversations-on-genocide.html
I wonder if Philip Atkinson's quotes will feature in al-Qaeda's equivalent of the "Why We Fight" propaganda films?
