Democracy for thee, but not for me

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) shared these words of wisdom the other day about the importance of the will of the people.

"In a matter of weeks, we're going to have a major breakthrough in Baghdad on items of political reconciliation -- the benchmarks -- because the Iraqi people are putting pressure on their politicians. That's the best pressure that could be applied where people vote is have the people themselves, frustrated with their own elected representatives, having their say."

Hmm, a frustrated electorate is demanding change from their elected representatives, who should be more respondsive to public pressure. As Swopa noted, this sounds kind of familiar.

2008 maybe sooner our voices will be heard!

We need a major breakthrough right here at home. We need Sen Graham and others to look behind them. There are frustrated people here at home and we are screaming at them. Why don't they feel the pressure?

We showed you folks back in '06 Mister "we'll clean your clock"

Isn't it a sign of weakness in an elected official to bend to the will of the electorate? Oh, wait. Sorry- I was just channelling my inner-Boosh.

Sen. Graham is a rubber stamp moron, so who cares what he says?

Well it sure as hell isn't happening here at home.

Honestly Patricia, do you think these clowns give a shit what you think? The dems that got voted in in 06 haven't done a damn thing to change this war, and they are going to rubber stamp the $50Bn supplemental that chimpy is proposing. There is no voice of the people, just the voice of the endless war machine, burning dollars and chewing up our sons and daughters.

I'm waiting for them to vote in another pay raise for doing such a great job.

Let's have a "look see" in Lindsey Graham's closet of horrors, shall we? He's been pretty vocal which in Reptard terms translates into "I'm guilty" these days.

Lindsey Graham = Sycophantic Bush Propagandist

Oust this charlatan from office. The people deserve better - much, much better!

Americans have become so stupid that it's too far gone to change. Too many uninformed droans who simply don't care to hear the truth about their government.
These neocons have bamboozled the masses in to willingly giving up their rights and line their own pockets with taxpayers money.
I personally thought people were finally getting it when all the dems were elected but I can see now that the changing of the guard really just consisted of a different letter behing their names. This war will continue until a new president is elected, and most likely not right after that occurs.
As long as the voters are fed a big bowl of God fearing terrorism, expect little change from these self serving bums.

Blah, blah, democracy, blah, blah, freedom, blah, blah, the people, blah, blah, blah ...

STFU, you redneck blowhard.

Graham and Iraq need to get a room.
I think some of these Congressmen forgot who they're working for.

They are working for that 1% that thinks trickle down economics are working out just fine for them.
In the mean time the 99% that are subserviant to the 1% are seeing higher prices and smaller raises bog down their life style into purchase only what is neccesary.
And yet only 35% show up to vote.

By week's end, we'll be hearing about how we need to fight the Good Fight in Iran, too. This is the full-court press leading up to "Patriot" Day.

Time we start acting like the insurgents we are constantly compared to?

Drop Bush off in downtown Anwar with not platoon, no body amour and no hat. Let’s see what “The People” have to say.
Hell, drop him off in my town and let's see what the people have to say.

thanks for your concern!!!!!

This is a quote from Post Mortem America: Bush's Year of Triumph and the Hard Way Ahead by Chris Floyd from yesterdays blog roundup.
"Thus the Administration's own spokesmen are now saying openly, in plain English, what they once only insinuated beneath layers of legal jargon: that the president of the United States does not have to obey the law of the land. He does not have to obey acts passed by Congress. He is free to act arbitrarily, to do anything whatsoever that he claims is necessary to "defend national security," in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. There is literally nothing anyone can do – not Congress, not the courts – to stop him."
That pretty well says it all right there. America is a police state and it doesn't matter who you try to elect. If Bush and Cheney decide to, they'll stay on forever. I'm sure that by next year that war in Iran will be going very badly and hey don't you know it, we need to postpone the election. Short of armed insurrection which I don't believe anyone has the stomach for, you're stuck. The masses are too busy with American Idol and the latest train wreck celebrity to give a damn about politics. So long as they're being paid and have all the latest toys, what do they care that they are being manipulated. I hope to God that I'm wrong, but look at all the abuses that this regime has perpetrated and tell me that anyone cares enough to actually do anything. The Democrats are too cowed to even begin to fight the regime. The Republicans are too busy getting rich to want to fight the regime and the people are still getting screwed. A few brave souls are yelling from the wilderness but they're being called nuts by the media and marginalized before being forgotten entirely. Buckle up folks it's going to be a long rough ride ahead.

Hey Lindsey, remember those words in 2008, when you lose another 10 seats in the senate and 40 plus in the house....asshole.

Yo Lindsey, do us all a favor & go back to Baghdad without any military escort and buy some more fucking rugs for $5, you pathetic asshat.

Oooh...big news today. Bloated gasbag, "b" tv actor Fred Thompson to announce candidacy for President.

The Union is saved!

Best and brightest. What a freakin' joke.

senator lindsey graham is a bush turd smokin toad in my humble opinion.

Graham seems to be saying that our goal of turning Iraq into a democracy is working, because the people are making their voices heard through their elected representatives.

That's odd. Because the one thing all Iraqis (Shia, Sunnis, Kurds, secular) have agreed on from the beginning is that the United States should leave Iraq. I guess that wish wasn't part of Iraq's transformation into a democracy, because it conflicted with Bush's agenda.

These repuglican blowhards have no idea what America or being an American is about. They are all gung ho about reducing rights to "protect America", but when some self hating closeted homosexual like "god is on my side, I'm not gay, I was entrapped, joking, reaching for the toilet paper" Paul Craig pleads guilty, he is all happy and giggly that he lives in a liberal, progressive state where the law allows him to possibly withdraw his guilty plea.

Do as I say, not as I do typical Repug nonsense.

All these ass backward, cousin humping, closet homosexual, rights hating (except when they themselves get arrested...then it's OOOH...I'm innnocent! I'm INNOCENT!) low lifes need to go back to the backwater, race baiting, wife cheating, bathroom sex seeking, pale white boy humping world that they came from.

Is this that same Lindsey Graham who took a casual stroll through a market in Baghdad with John McCain? Bought five rugs if I remember correctly. Yeah, he has a lotta credibility.

I suspect we're gonna hear a lot of this "Success is just over the horizon if you just give us more time" kinda stuff from the Bushies. Remember, Nixon had a secret plan to get us outta Vietnam in 1968. We never saw that plan.

I agree with his statement.

Now 'apply directly where it hurts' - to borrow from ActiveOn.

this will happen elsewhere, but not with this shit-for-brains administration.

he does not listen. if your in his admin and disagree, you get the boot out the door.

bush is a total dipwad.

Is he following "don't ask, don't tell" policy??? A gay man like Lindsey should come out of the closet. He'd be a lot more of a man if he admitted his sexual orientation rather than living a lie WITH his Mother, no less. Lindsey, grow up and get a boy friend, you'll be a lot happier.

These guys NEVER let up with the bulls***.
