FOXNews Sunday: Playing to the base...

What a strange alternate reality FOXNewsheads live in. When Juan Williams calls out the Republican presidential contenders' rhetoric for playing to the base, Chris Wallace scoffs. He just can't believe that any criticism of Republicans can't go double for Democrats.

School yard antics. I saw this. the exchange didn't even have words it was so cerebral.

AbbeyHoffmansGhost's picture

If I were Juan Williams I would reach across the aisle to Wallace and Hume to bring a greater understanding to the discussion. It would be called Jonsered.

d-man's picture

Just a bunch of fun-loving guys here, eh? Weird...

Curtilingus's picture

I think it was wrong for Williams to laugh along with them. He made the very widely understood and accepted point that many republiecans do not support the war. Wallace and Hume laughed it off as a joke, and so did Juan.

Bit NOLA's picture

I'd like to see Mike Wallace grill his idiot boy like all the other fools he nailed on 60 Minutes.

After a career of exposing frauds, he could finally teach his son the point of it all. What a disappointment Chris must be to Dad.

Marge's picture

Oh well, Fox News the epitomy of lying, scumbum can't hold on to a job anyplace else bunch.

Juan W W's picture

Juan is a wimp. Or else he wouldn't have a job there.

Republicons have a good tactic. They laugh and scoff when cornered. That's why Tony Snow has done well. He just scoffs and patronizes the reporters. A certain percentage of people (the percentage they are talking to) see that and sympathize with those poor Republicans who have to put up with dummies.

Curtilingus's picture

Like Steve Colbert said "All they have are their facts!"

William Wallace's picture

Why does anybody still watch the GOP propaganda outlet called Faux News? Is it the same reaction a moth has to a flame?

Curtilingus's picture

Thanks william you helped me figure out my problem.
I'm a moth.

I'm the only hope in 2008! The rest of the Repugs are really C*cksucking Conservatives. They claim to stand for family values while they secretly blow other men in public stalls.

Limpbaugh even takes trips to Aruba to rape young boys. F*cker Carlson is as queer as a 3-dollar bill. Hannity and Julieony are both cross-dressers. Except for me, the entire Republican Party is full of closeted homosexuals and perverts.

Ron Paul in 2008!

This is just a wild guess on my part, but I suspect #12 was not really posted by Ron Paul.

Where on earth did Wallace get the idea that democratic leaders are pandering to the democratic base?! The democratic base wants us out of Iraq. The democratic base wants Bush and Cheney impeached. Would somebody please point out to me where our democratic leadership is capitulating to its base by getting us out of Iraq and starting impeachment proceedings against Bush and Cheney?! Wallace and those blabbering heads at Fox are mindlessly stuck in their own frigin' rhetoric.

PopeTodd's picture

Disingenuous piece of shit.

Mike must regret not being home enough to knock some sense into the moron.
Bit NOLA is right, I'd even pay per view to watch that head knocking.

I actually think Juan Williams is a decent voice of reason on Fox news. Certainly better than that outer space-looking alien Alan Colmes.

When Rupert turned The Sun into a tabloid rag in 1969 there was method to his madness. It’s the same madness that he used along with Roger Aisles in creating Fox News.

It’s not difficult to get people to read about the Angel/Alien monkey boy ravaging stale donuts during full-moons on the streets of Chicago. It’s more difficult to find the journalists that will write about that monkey boy – whether he exists or not.

Likewise, it’s not difficult to get people to listen to patriotic US vs Them rhetoric which makes them both feel good about themselves and fearful of the enemy - whether that enemy exists or not. It’s more difficult to find journalists that will spew that rhetoric.
Whether those journalists believe the talking points spew is irrelevant. They searched long and hard to find the handful that will get onboard. And spew they do. That spew is making many wealthy.

The perceived Democrat/Liberal/Secular Progressive/blah blah blah crap is just as believable to me as the monkey boy. It’s made up, but they do know their audience. Debating these “journalists” about their talking points is about as effective as debating them about the monkey boy. Nobody wins.

what's really offensive is the condescending frat boy looks hume and wallace exchange when william's makes his point about opposition to the war not being solely a position held by democrats.

Moon's picture

Isn't it amazing? Chris Wallace's Dad exposed the type of hackary practiced at FOX. Is this what happens to the brats that really don't have to work to get these jobs. Just look at Tucker Carlson and Dan Abrams....same old, same old. Putting politics aside, you have real bright fathers with dim bulb kids.

The propaganda machine rolls onward. When training a dog to sit, repeat the command over and over, the dog soon understands and obeys.

Kristol, the neo-cons, and the corporate media are marketing the new-and-improved "al-Qaeda in Iraq"-flavored KoolAid to Amerika. Wonder who's willing to drink that swill?

Juan Williams is Fox's token voice-of-reason rope-a-dope. Today, he managed to get in a point about the original purpose for the Iraq Invasion: WMD, bringing democracy, etc. Then Kristol bulldozed over him with that revisionist tripe: "we're there to fight al-Qaeda".

I had to keep changing channels every minute or the bile would build up and choke me.

MargeAggedon's picture

It must be fun to live in the repug world. The invisible sky daddy "forgives" all the evil shit you do in private and when you're caught in public just point to the next guy and say "They did it too."
And that's all it takes. Poof.
No, nothing the repugs ever do or say is wrong.
It's just the horrible "libul" bias of life that keeps screwing them up.
I mean, imagine expecting them to accept responsibility for their actions/words. Really. How unamerican.

speaking of "base" is chris wallace so base that he doesn't realize what a tool of the bush admin and their disastrous policy he is. he is the perfect example of media whore. he's sold out any moral fortitude that he possessed and he must have had given his lineage, he's sold it all out for the 15 minutes of fame. sad.

Juan - is another FND - but sometimes he does pull one out.....

Wallice - I'm surprised that tool hasn't been disowned by his father yet!

Not only this barb - but at the debate - he made it very clear to me (I wasn't convinced before - but now I am) and to the Dem front runners why they shouldn't be in a Fox debate -
http://rawstory.com//news/2007/Fox_host_accuses_Paul_of_taking_0906.html

"Fox host accuses Paul of taking 'marching orders from al Qaeda"

That's not journalisim.......That's cronyism!

Ex-Canuck's picture

Faux News shithead wallace is an embarrassment to his father Mike Wallace, who is a true journalist.

The son, along with hume, suck cheney/bush dick for breakfast and have given the words propaganda and pandering new meaning.

Regarding Chris Wallace : As for that apple falling far from the tree , one must think it didn't fall at all but was blown off during a tornado .

mhj555's picture

Good thing ol Chris Wallace got a job based on his father's reputation, becasue he sure didn't get the gig becasue of his talent.

Asshats the both of them.

wagonjak's picture

I saw this exchange, and all Juan did was call out Wallace for saying the Dem "base" supported pulling out of Iraq. Williams pointed out that the 70% of Americans who want out of Iraq are hardly just the Dem base. Chris and Hume both got a good "what a stupid remark" chuckle out of this.

What a bunch of clueless, witless Fox news pundits!

Cat Atomic's picture

Wow- how condescending. They were about 2 inches from saying, "you real funny, boy", and patting Williams on the head.

iraqconcilable's picture

Saw the clip of Wallace at the Fox debate and Ron Paul's response kicked that moronic smirk right off his face . Of all the Repug candidates, at least Paul knows ( or admits) that this war is in reality an illegal invasion .

Kiss my ass Chris Wallace. You smug little puke. As you play to the Fucked News base

John Samsonite's picture

yes, this exchange was unique, but ONLY in it's blatantness. this technique is exactly what they do, day in, day out. i think it's important to fully realize, however, that Juan Williams and Mara Liasson knowingly and willingly play the liberal straight man for the Fox News douchebags.

just in case anyone found themselves swallowing the "they have two liberals on every week" tripe.

I have trouble finding a word for describing my feelings toward these people ( Fox ) - Despise isn't strong enough. I guess it has evolved from annoyance to an authentic hatred toward them.

Newton Minnow's picture

Is it too much to ask Wan Williams to actually wipe the shit eating grins off their faces by bringing some facts to the table?

Last month's poll of Iowa republicans would have been quite sufficient:

"When asked, 'Do you favor a withdrawal of all United States military from Iraq within the next six months?' the GOP rank and file responded in the following manner:

Yes 51%
No 39%
Undecided 10%"

http://news.aol.com/elections-blog/2007/08/24/iowa-republicans-want-out-...

He must know this, or else why make the comment? So why not use it? Or would that cost him his seat at the table?

The vast majority of Americans want to end the war very soon. They have no representation in Congress, and certainly not in the candidates running for president in the Democratic primary. The exception is Dennis Kucinich, who is universally dismissed as being "unelectable" simply because he shares the opinion of most voters.

A truly independent news media would raise Kucinich and Ron Paul as popular candidates, based on their very popular opinions. Instead we get Fred Thompson and Hilary Clinton, who both agree with the Fox corporate platform.

How much does Faux News they pay Juan Williams, Alan Colmes, Mora Liasson and the rest of the "house liberals" to whore themselves daily?

People think that Wallace is the exception at Faux. No, he "the rule," hook, line and sinker.
