Say it isn't so, McHenry!

mchenrygannon.jpg Is the conservative Congressman Patrick McHenry the latest to fall in a sordid sex scandal?

oh yeah

No. That picture. NO...I'm not even GOIN THERE. No. You can't make me. It's too easy.

i hadn't even read the article and i was thinking oo oo! another gay republican! then i was like - hey it could be prostitutes and diapers so read the article first...and voila!

do i got the gaydar or what?

Is anyone really surprised by this? Is anyone fooled? Has everyone noticed the gay looks, voices, body language, and behavior of a good many of these hard liners? I mean this is a real whips and chains crowd if ever I have seen one.

I am only surprised it is coming out (at long last). What a hoot. A disgusting hoot, yes.

I don't understand why these people simply can't jettison the hypocrisy and just enjoy coming out.

The Republican Party is a bottomless cup O' Scandals...

Accusations are nice and all but without solid evidence the gay outing is turning into the modern McCarthyism and that will make the liberals hypocrites.

Doug @ 6:

Is that because Republicans love and embrace homosexuality, while liberals stand for masculine heterosexual male white power?

I hate seeing him on C Span. I hope he goes down in a scandal

I hope he doesn't go down, he's cute.

This would hardly be a surprised. This reich-winger is so shrill, he actually makes DeLay seem reasonable.

Doug, your comparison to McCarthyism is so inaposite it's silly.

Republican Gaydar must be manufactured in China.

At the risk of being overly dramatic, we are at war to some degree for the survival of the world (I'm referring to global warming with the right wing refuses to acknowledge), and the survival of the country as a world leader. As such with the stakes, we need to use at least the legitimate weapons at our disposal, one of which being exposing the TRUTH about the party of "family values" (having acquired power on that issue) being full of gay men, greatly hated by their homophobic fundie base. They made this bed...now they can lie in it.

Another ReThug bites the dust because he won't be honest about his sexual identity.

Pretty soon, Congress will be full of Democrats, because I don't think they got all of the closted Thugs yet. Anyone talk to Orrin Hatch or Mitch McConnell, or are they scared that Larry Craig's going to start naming names if he can't get back in the Senate?

INOKIYAR....now! (It's NOT OK IF YOU"RE A RETHUG)

It will be interesting to see how this is covered in the media (if at all) and it will be interesting to compare statements made to those made during the Vitter and Craig events.

You know, the gay Republican hypocrite lifestyle is one thing to look into, but of much more consequence, and something that can be proven in criminally, is his shady financials, as reported by the link below the first at Pam's.

Liberal AND Proud @ 2:

no doubt... i would have pegged him as gay even before reading anything about him... ROTFLMAO.... "another one bites the dust" (sing it out and sing it proud)... maybe it's time for these freaks to deal with their issues and actually do something about dealing with homophobia in society instead of perpetuating it and getting themselves into so much hot water... i think we'd ALL be better of because of it...

Lindsey Graham is gay!! When will someone finally "out" that tool?

Eeee-yew! Eecchhh! I mean- again???

Doug @ 6:

Inaposite comparison. Sorry. Those doing the outing are not anti-gay. The only people who persecute gays are the Republicans.

He's got a purdy mouth.

Doug @ 6:

Say what ? I agree that accusation is sometimes different than fact, but where have you been ? ALl these scandals the past few years involving Republican congressmen and sex, whether it is going after young men (pages) or experienced gay men (been to the Minneapolis airport lately ? hmm ?), or even after women, these guys are repressed beyond belief.

I'll wait to see the facts roll in, but based on Craig and all the previous perverts, my guess is that this dude is as gay as the day is long.

McCarthyism ? Liberals hypocrits ? That is a LAUGH. It is the Repugnanticans that are grade-A prime hypocrits.

That gets laid? How depressing...

Gee, another faggy fascist... Old and middle-aged GOP white men are never gay, they're just queer, homo or fags. But now they're sort of reaping what they've sown politicially...

"Has everyone noticed the gay looks..."
"...[Gay] Perverts"

Lets keep the homophobic comments in check, ok?

Nothing wrong with being gay. Only with being gay and supporting hate of other gays.

Actually, republican gaydar stations are manned by Halliburton and KBR contractors which is why the system fails so miserably and costs so much.

Doug, I gotta give you credit. It is gotta be tough to be a defender of Gay Republican Hypocrites.

In a party that prides itself on hatred of gay people, a self hating gay politician is in a tough fix. I think this is why they overcompensate and endorse bills that actually make their own habits illegal.

I'm more shocked that a 12-year-old got elected to Congress.

Gay. . . straight. . . I am waaaaay more scared because they are REPUBLICANS than which side of the fence they are on.

Wow. Another one. These self loathing hypocrites are the same ones who helped push the odious DOMA act into law. Just sickening.

May he burn in a hell (of his own creation) forever.

Doug @ 6:

Accusations are nice and all but without solid evidence the gay outing is turning into the modern McCarthyism and that will make the liberals hypocrites.

Doug, you're right on.
It is a slippery slope.

The difference is they're the HYPOCRITES! THAT'S the "outing" that is taking place. ....NOT homosexuals.

Rusty Shackleford @ 31:

I'm more shocked that a 12-year-old got elected to Congress.

THAT is the best comment ever!! LOL

Pinchable cheeks

No not there.

Ever since he blocked the vote for DC residents I've been praying a truck would fall on that idiot. If he is investigated and found out, it may well be that he wishes a truck fell on him.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with being gay. Most people say some of my best friends are gay, but in my case it was my younger brother. The problem with being a closeted gay person who in a position of responsibility is that they tend to overcompensate to prove that they are not gay. That can do a lot of harm. Of course, we really don't know from the evidence presented that Patrick McHenry is gay.

I'm tellin' you all, being a REPUBLICAN is waaay worse than any gay person I've ever know. Republicans are SCARY!

I have to echo the notion that it's not the fact that these congressmen are gay, it's the hypocrisy. It's the level of vitriol with which Republicans have bashed gay men and women and tried as hard as they could to take away their human rights. My representative, Tammy Baldwin is a lesbian, and while she's not exactly vocal about it (whether she should or shouldn't be is a topic unto itself), she's not in the closet either. Most of America doesn't know this, and most of America doesn't care. That's because she's not out there trying to shoot herself, or anybody else, in the foot.

I detest McHenry as much as the next sane person - he's my least favorite congressman since the fall of the Hammer - and it has nothing to do with his sexuality, and everything to do with his smug, partisan rhetoric. Remember on Hardball when he claimed that the Dems were behind the Mark Foley scandal - his evidence being the lack of evidence proving that they were not behind the scandal? Or when Barney Frank bitch-slapped him on the House Floor?
That said...these ties seem awfully tenuous. Is there any real evidence that he is involved in any scandal?

I hate to go all juvenile on your time but why am I always attracted to closeted, self hating dough-boys?

To hell with this doughboy. What about me??? Let's talk about me. I'm out of jail and tired of doing good deeds for humanity. I want to PARTY!!! Anyone out there want to join me and Brit? She doesn't have to practice dancing and singing anymore, now that the MTV gig is over. She was sooooo cool and she sounded soooooo hot. Like ME!

Geez, will the non-gay Republicans please raise your hands?

How come no one is talking about Rep. McHenry (R-NC)??

So did Congressman Patrick McHenry get his Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle he so wanted for Christmas?

Didn't surprise me when I put the face to seeing him on C-SPAN crossing the T's and dotting the I's when it came to being a hack Republican.

You gotta due that to win friends in the party who will then look away from the gay issue.

Yellowbird @ 4:

Funny you say that...Rick Santorum always set my gaydar a buzzing!

I remember back when I used to cover him when he first was elected to the district I used to live in, he stopped by the county to chat with our commissioners. I won't say who I am, but I could tell there was something fishy about the guy, if you know what I mean. And yes, I am qualified to make that assessment.

I knew it. I knew it even before I clicked on the link to the story that a Republican had to be linked to another gay scandel. Its becoming pretty much common place these days.

dermo @ 41:

That said...these ties seem awfully tenuous. Is there any real evidence that he is involved in any scandal?

There was that murder-suicide in Florida Home Where 3 Died Owned By GOP Strategist. One local news site that still has the head-line Lovers' Quarrel May Have Sparked Murder-Suicide. I'd say that's a scandal give the anti-gay actives of one of the victims.

Did you see the more than a few of ties between McHenry and this mentioned at PHB in the link Untangling the latest GOP gay scandal with Mike Signorile? They appear more than tenuous IMO.

Proving, once again, what I've always thought. Republicans suck.

99.72 Gannons!!! ROTFLMBBAO

A question anybody who thinks they have an answer....
Why do these Republican closet cases go soooooo far to the other side in their public personas. Is it self-hatred? Does it make the sex that much kinkier? Seriously, I have no clue...Help me out here!

Like a young Mickey Rooney.

Another one?! What's up with that party? Even Imelda Marcos doesn't have that kind of closet space.

I can see him bound and enjoying Congresswoman Jean Schmidt beating him with a red and blue whip with white stars.

I can only look at the charming little impish grin -- so reminiscent of the Un-impeachable Alberto "call me smoothy" Gonzales. You just know he is the "catcher."

Did anyone in the White House record his hands? That can tell us so much about his character.

Straight Republicans of Integrity are what we call someone who does not have one of these; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indicted

many gays are willing to forgo their own souls for what the repug party gives them

low taxes even without a family

and no matter what the wingnuts say, gays cannot rise up in the ranks if they are out

so these guys stay closeted, spew anti gay rhetoric, sometimes even marry....just so that they can have a little more green lining their pockets

this is a sad fact

>> Well, the "R" after his name is a good clue. Any group of people who can fall lock-step with Karl Rove, is a group of people that Karl Rove has dirt on. The long-term agenda of the K-Street gang was just to fill seats with people "they could count on." I'm not trying to be flip about this. My theory here, and I bet I will be proved right, is that, at least with the Republican party, and the DLC (the core of the Dem power), the NeoCons have been promoting ONLY those people who are either in league with them, or are pretty much compromised and just care about being in office and never being late for a party (e.g., Mark Foley).

Doug @ 6:

Accusations are nice and all but without solid evidence the gay outing is turning into the modern McCarthyism and that will make the liberals hypocrites.

OK, Doug. Where are the accusations we've made that have proven wrong? I expect hundreds of links.

Like others above, I thought I just READ that he was gay-bashing-gay-Republican. I just assumed. I then re-read the C&L comment and it wasn't there. Wow. That's spooky. I think I'll faint if I find out there is a good Republican somewhere. I used to mention "McCain" as a token in my most reasonable; "not all Republicans are bad" speech -- but I really can't find any non-criminal use for even the Conservative movement. It all seems to be a scam to rip of the public and end the middle class -- masquerading as a philosophy.

I mean, I'd like to have "reasonable conversations", but, like a Posted above, I really can't see a middle ground between what is good for the Citizens of America, and Bat-crap crazy or crooked. There is nothing to debate. There is nothing I admire about Conservatives anymore. They seem to stand for Armageddon, beating up gays, and ending Democracy -- Oh, and guns (even I can't tell when I'm being sarcastic anymore). At least Liberty-for-Guns issue in contrast, does not scare me anymore. Sure, if the middle ground is arming teachers at Kindergartens -- I at least can find a middle ground there. My son's kindergarten teacher can carry Magnum, but they don't get bullets.

Oh, and I've stopped worrying about the small stuff like; Kudzu, people throwing Cigarettes out of cars, and dying of old age. There are just much more pressing problems in the world.

I don't have time to delve into this story, this morning, but it looks very very JUICY. I'll save it for another time in the day when I can do it justice. As a gay man myself, I don't have any problem with GOP homosexuality, but man-o-man, they get up to some twisted stuff. It must be the self-loathing.

Read post #'s 66, 70, 71, 72,74 and 75 for advice on how to "elevate" the political discourse.

We are in total agreement.

These kind of people give good gay people a bad name.

Such a handsome young lad, cant imagine why he's not married...

Okay, many of you claim to have absolute evidence that McHenry is gay. So who did he sleep with? I'm sure you don't have hearsay or are just relying on wishful thinking. It'll be a sad day that this man has his career destroyed because of baseless accusation or guilt by association. Jose Padilla was labeled a terrorist because the Bush regime needed a terrorist so he was tortured and imprisoned just because they needed a scapegoat for political advantage. Are the liberals going to take down a Republican for the same reasons the Republicans took down an innocent man? Do liberals need to sink to the same level as Republicans? It's absolutely pathetic that we can't take the higher ground and demand factual evidence rather than just tabloid rumors. Just because Larry Craig is gay doesn't mean every Republican accused of being gay is such. Try using reason before you become Republican. Rumors aren't fact, hold yourself to a higher standard. Yes, this isn't winning any popularity votes but I'm not waging a war on gay hypocrites like the Bush administration is waging a false war on terror. Criticize me as you will but I'll still hold to the American standard that someone is innocent until proven guilty.

Doug. No one made such a claim. Yes there were a number of posts stating 'oh yea he's gay' but no one claimed 'absolute evidence'. What has been linked is McHenry's relationship with gay men (no crime there) while at the same time supporting anti-homosexual legislation. And yes, that's not a crime either. But 'do as I say not as I do' behavior has never been seen as a virtue.

You don't accept what's posted in blogs. Well, blogs are held to same libel laws as any published content. If you have any proof what's has been said is a lie then I suggest you forward that information to McHenry. I'm certain he'd like to sue them on something he's been very quite about lately.

Pretty much what I'm saying -- do I have to say "hippocrit" all the time? I thought I was talking to Liberals and Progressives -- who tend to have the ability to read. I have no issue with the gayness -- none at all. I hope everyone comes out, so that nice ladies don't have to waste their lives wondering why they can't get their successful, attractive husbands attention. Also, so that we don't get all these people extorted to do the BCF's bidding.

The "handle" I use is kind of the same thing as why people dress up as ghouls and ghosts on Halloween -- I'm dispelling the principle emotions that I think are the root of our problem -- and of course, "Fear and Loathing" was taken. But thanks for taking the time to tell me what I say. I'm sure I need to repeat what 99% of everyone has already said, and I've said at least 10 times yesterday. Or just add the " /not that there is anything wrong with that" tag to all my comments. Sorry if you thought I was dumping on gays -- I thought criticizing this man as a "Self-loathing-gay-basher" was kind of obvious.

Listen to “a Guy”, he says “Just look at his picture. If he ain’t gay, I’ll eat my hat”. Do gay men all look alike Guy? You’re the one who sounds like a Republican.

>> Dude, I went to Art College. Not every Gay man shows up on Gaydar -- but like, Phil Gramm and THIS Guy, and of course, Jeff Gannon's head when Bush is around set the alarm bells a buzzing.
I'm a straight guy, but I've got pretty good gay-dar. The first time I worked at a community theater in Savannah Georgia (gayest place in the country -- bar none), I went to the bar and my entire acting group save two girls got dressed up as the Entertainment. My male director looked fabulous in sequins -- I was floored. Now McHenry looks gayer than anyone in my community theater.
Since I'm not setting my phasers on "kill" -- nobody gets harmed if my gay-dar detects a false positive.
Can we get the NeoCons to draft you? We could trade you for, I don't know, a slightly MORE fun NeoCon.

Ahhhh, a voice of reason and not revenge. How refreshing.

>> Said the guy with the Uzi about the spray the bar with sweet bullets of reason. Harmon, you've really added to the conversation -- but kind of in the way that the screaming crowd at a football game adds to a conversation you are trying to have on a cell phone.

Do you feel "McHorny?"

He's a pocket gay.

Boy, they would give this guy "A Hole Lotta Love" in prison.

Whole lotta love, brings to mind the reunion of Lead Zeppelin coming up soon. Sure wish i could go see them.

What, instead of the Spice Girls?

#45 (CLAYTON) ASKS WHY NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT PATRICK MCHENRY. YOU ARE. THE REAL MEDIA DOES NOT DO LIBEL. ALTHOUGH THEY COME CLOSE OFTEN. WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS GOSSIPING.

[Deleted. Insane rambling-Sitemonitor]

ITS UNFORTUNATE THAT GOSSIP HURTS. THERE IS A SAYING "WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND." GOSSIP IS A DEADLY SIN.

[Suzie q. I would love to leave this hilarious post of yours up, but it's in all caps, is off topic by some 30 or so years and it's to nutty to understand-Sitemonitor]

Interesting how people will question the views of others, when they haven't figured out how the cap key works yet.
