Looks like sombedy is tired of constantly being blamed for all the problems in Iraq:

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi lawmakers said on Saturday that Washington should take responsibility for the turmoil in Iraq and stop blaming Baghdad, Iran and Syria. Frustrated by criticism from the United States over their slow progress towards political goals meant to foster national reconciliation, Iraqi leaders said Washington would be better served by examining its own progress in the unpopular war.

"The Americans always try to pretend the responsibility for cleaning up this mess isn't theirs and tend to shift blame onto Iraq, Iran and Syria for everything that goes wrong," said veteran Kurdish lawmaker Mahmoud Othman.

Take that William the Bloody!

I think this statement actually qualifies as a benchmark for success! At least one of the governments involved in this mess has a clear grasp of the situation.

We tried to liberate Iraq's oil fields for BIG OIL and so Halliburton could get no bid government contracts and this is the thanks we get? Ingrates. Let's pull the troops now to show our disgust at their not being grateful for the millions of innocent Iraqis killed, maimed and relocated as a result of the chickenhawk lead invasion and occupation of their country. How dare them not step up to the plate quick enough to clean up the mess we made in their country.

If I was an Iraqi, I would devote my life to destroying everything that gave rise to Bush and Cheney.

Our troops are literally hostages to Washington egos and money. Like the Iraqis, they are victims of a completely broken system.

Betrayus sez, another decade if not several, of this shit. In that case I hope for mass desertions of our soldiers. It could happen.

Really, this is entirely too fucked up and everyone needs to do all they can to stop it.

I'm so sick of this Bush administration blaming the Iraqi government on all this mess. Falafel Bill blamed it all on the Iraqi government about a week ago.

Damn it; what about Bremer disbanding the Iraqi army, putting a huge number of men out on the streets with no jobs, no income, no way to feed their families. How many of them became insurgents or joined Al-Qaeda?

That damned Falafel Bill earlier this week strongly condemned Brian De Palma and his new film "Redacted," stating that if just one Muslim man saw the film and joined the insurgency or Al-Qaeda to kill Americans, then De Palma's film is terribly wrong. So I sent BillO an email, asking him what about Bush's "Bring 'em On" statement. How many more terrorists were created because of Bush's blabbering mouth?

For that matter, none of this mess would be here had not Bush and his minions gone to war in the first place!

It's just us being the Ugly Americans again. Grown men are gonna resent being treated like children eventually. We treat them like ungrateful children, not people whose lives have been turned upside down because we changed their entire way of life. We did invaded them you know.

We are asking them to make an artificial government work. It is a strange government indeed too. Can anyone out there explain how it really works? All we know is that people vote, so we call it a democracy but do we really know what they get for their vote. Does anyone know what the President and two Vice Presidents of Iraq really do?

Now we are arming the militias of the Sunni Sheiks and giving them power. No one elects the Sheiks. How are they gonna fit into this strange democracy. No one elects the Shiites Clerics but they have their own militias, and probably have more power than Maliki.

We call them a sovereign country, but how many sovereign countries don't have command and control over their own army?

It is the neocons' fault that they did not account for the Iraqis being unable to live together in peace prior to invading.

Sorry, but the Iraqis have to accept responsibility for not being able to agree among themselves how to live together in peace. Bush and the neocons deserve the blame for many, many things. However, the Iraqis not being able to live together peacefully is not one of them.

Isn't it amazing that around 550 BC a Greek politician named Aristagoras jovially pointed out "War fever was an intoxication to which democracies appeared peculiarly prone." Nuttin much has changed.

NoBuddy's picture

It seems to me that Dick Cheney, in defending George H. W. Bush's managing of the 1st Iraq war, articulated the reasons why not occupying Iraq was a good idea. If for some reason you haven't seen the video, you should. So, between that, and Colin Powell's admonition to the President that if he "breaks" Iraq, he "owns" it, President Bush was fully aware of the implications of occupying Iraq. We do "own" the problems that occurred since the occupation. Problem is, that when Americans bought into this war (not this American) they were told that the war would cost $20 Billion, last 6 months and that Americans would be greeted as "liberators". So, Americans were not merely lied to regarding the reasons for war (the faulty WMD claim, the faulty implication of complicity in 911), but Americans were deliberately lied to regarding the outcome of an occupation of Iraq, since Cheney knew the true consequences and said so.

So, since Cheney indicated the outcome of such an occupation in defending George H. W. Bush's decision to not occupy Iraq during the 1st Gulf war, it is clear that the U. S. was aware of the consequences of invasion. Therefore, it is absurd, except to our government regulated (FCC) corporate media and corporate owned politicians, to say that the U.S. has no responsibility for the turmoil in Iraq following the occupation.

Dear Iraqi People:

Please be advised that your country is and will forever be a colony of the US. The current and future administration is never going to leave because of the need to control your oil and to have a base of attack against Iran and Syria. As long as young men and women continue to join the military voluntarily and their families continue to believe that their deaths are for a noble cause, the current and future US administrations will have plenty of bodies to sacrifice to keep you and the entire Middle East in turmoil forever. Sadly. the majority of Americans are too busy or too ignorant to realize the incredible chess game that the Neocons and their enablers are playing against the rest of the world. Pretty soon-checkmate-and no amount of blogging or protesting will make a difference.

The problem is we are at the top of the pecking order or the food chain. We can pretty much invade and run roughshod over anyone we want and not be held accountable to anyone. Some people say God. But unless God strikes this administration down they have free reign.

It's really a scary thought. We are really the king of the mountain. How cool is that?

Ahh, but everyone needs food even us big guys at the top of the pecking order. And our food is oil. Us being a consumer nation is also a weakness.

If those middle eastern countries were smart they would band together and threaten to cut us off at the knees. How un-American of me to think this way but this arrogant attitude that we must be at the top of the food chain which is the brain child of neo-con idealism, has to end.

C'mon world bring it on.

For five years I've been labeled as an anti-war "extremist" merely for being honest, rational, skeptical and, it turns out, right about everything. Even now, right wing Republicans and their corporate media friends, with their lies and corruption exposed and their lying due to continue, continue to treat me and the majority as the extreme position, and never referred to their own faulty posturing as pro war extremism? How can these people continue to look each other in the face when they maintain this posture. I'm simply ashamed to know them.

After all we've done for them. You'd think we invaded their country, occupied it for four years, dismantled their govt and army, allowed their infrastructure to be destroyed, decimated their civilian population, opened the pandoras box of sectarian violence, and for that they want us to take responsiblity? I dont think so.

couldn't agree more, we bomb their country to shreds in an unjust action and then tell them to bear up to the responsibility of cleaning it up. to the repubs, their argument hinges on sadam harboring wmd's, since proven false, it harbors on iraq being a safe haven for terroriists, it wasn't or at least not to its current entent prior to our invasion. so what argument are they using now, ..oh yes, free dem people and give dem people democracy. why don't you people grow a brain or are you really as stupid as you make out to be.

The Democrats and Republicans responsible for giving the "cakewalk in Iraq" zealots will all be singing the "blame the Iraqi's" tune. The zealots knew there would be chaos and destruction in Iraq, they have done everything in their power to insure that, lied, sent in too few trips, only protected the oil refineries when they went in, allowing looting of museums and weapons caches, chased Jay Garner out, understaffed teams that came into Iraq, tortured the Iraqi people, dismantled their army which we know created more chaos, killed many innocents and have basically created an enviroment where genocide can take place.

All the while blaming the Iraqi's for all of this incompetence and immoral war.

The Bush administration have committed crimes against humanity.
