it's never ending..........sigh
I noticed something at the grocery store that may deserve wider attention. TV Guide magazine, a publication owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, says...
Fox News Is NOT News
A scan of the page (with some minor satirical modifications) is at the link above, along with some analysis of why Murdoch's own company would publish this.
Economics 101
$1.3 trillion in “asset-backed” commercial paper filtering through American markets. These are the notes that are connected to mortgage-backed securities (MBSs) that no one wants and which have NO MARKET VALUE. They are referred to as “toxic waste”.
This is good news:
"JENA, La. - A state appeals court Friday tossed out the aggravated battery conviction that could have sent a black teenager to prison for 15 years in last year's beating of a white classmate in the racially tense Louisiana town of Jena.
"Mychal Bell, who was 16 at the time of the December beating, should not have been tried as an adult on the battery charge, the state Third Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles ruled."
And the link above.
This is good news coming from Jena......I couldn't believe they were railroading those kids.....some of those folks there are nuts......That judge and the D.A. who convicted him have got to go.Who ever hung those ropes deserved a good beating....
Thanks, Mike,
for the links to The Field Negro and Angry Black Bitch, both wonderful eye opening blogs for this West Valley White Boy.
...and a white guy I know(my best friend's friend) got beat up here in Beloit, WI, suffering permanent brain damage. His attackers were black. His fault since he dared walk down the sidewalk at night. No charges. No national outrage. In the same neighborhood, a white family was attacked by a large group of black folks. On the families' own property. On Christmas. Grandma thrown from her own porch. Guess she had it coming. It made the local paper. No charges. No national outrage.
The outrage? That I dare bring it up. Obviously racist.
First Draft
This is a tragedy. No wonder chimpy can thrive. Racism is alive and well in the US. These young men shouldn't have been charged.
Horses Mouth
repugs are always saying the dems are anti-military, the fact is, they are anti-chimpy-bs-invasions.
Kevin Drum
We won't know either. Some pot-belly general stated (via chimpy), in the beginning of the invasion, that an Iraqi count isn't necessary. This is why I believe the count is more than we can ever know.
Princess Sparkle Pony's Photo Blog
What's funnier, the blog itself or those empty seats?
Mugsy's Rap Sheet
I agree 100%. Our finest aren't fighting for the US, they are fighting for big oil companies and Iraq.
AngryBlackBitch
chimpy's speech comes second only to his bs wired debates.
Marty @ 7:
So, this makes it ok for black students who got in a school yard fight to be charged with attempted murder for sending a white boy to the emergency room for 2 hours? The white kid was released that same afternoon and attended a school function the same day. You think that was attempted murder? If not, then isn't it obviously racially motivated since the white kids at the same school are allowed to hang nooses from a tree and get practically no punishment?
I can't help that WI didn't prosecute someone for a crime, but that has nothing to do with this case. Maybe they didn't know who the attackers were? Maybe that is something you should address with your law enforcement.
Here in the south where a black man is arrested and sent to jail every minute, many times for crimes a white man would never set foot in a jail cell for, things are a little different. Maybe you should move to Jena, La and tell me racism doesn't exist there.
Marty @ 7:
Do you somehow think that our justice system not working is something we aplaud? And in the specific cases you cited were there any suspects and enough evidence to make a charge or are you just pissed off that they were not caught? Your information is sketchy at best. No names dates or any other facts. Please elaborate.
Regarding the "Jena 6" item. First, Mychal Bell had a juvenile record which may have influenced the decision to try him as an adult.
Second, I don't care if someone shouts racial slurs at you, spits at you, etc., you don't have the right to knock them unconscious and then continue to stomp and kick them. I'm not familiar with Louisiana law, but if the white kid had insulted them and someone punched him from behind that might have been somewhat defensible under the "fighting words" Supreme Court ruling. But to continue to attack him when he's passed out on the ground is clearly aggravated assault and battery and possibly, due to the fact that it was six against one, attempted murder.
The fact that the victim wasn't seriously injured or hospitalized for an extended period doesn't mean that the attack wasn't serious. If I shoot someone and only manage to graze them, it doesn't mean I didn't attempt to murder them. Likewise, if you stomp on someone's unconscious body and they aren't hospitalized all night it doesn't meant that you didn't act without blatant disregard for their life.
Obviously the justice system down there is rife with corruption and racism, but just because these young men had to deal with it doesn't mean they had a right to act as they did. To act as they did is to act as a disgrace to the peaceful civil rights movement of the 1960s.
My favorite quote came from an old grizzled mountain man whose picture graced some gun magazine that belonged to my lifelong NRA member father-in -law: "Individuals I like, people I hate like hell."
Most fans of wilderness recreation secretly (or openly) share that sentiment. Love of wilderness is cause number one for many. The GOP is thus enemy #1 for many.
I make no insinuation about the justice system, or xiotes' opionions thereof. You want details? Search old Beloit Daily News articles. The stories died there. I know the folks involved.
I merely note that ignorance, intolorence, and cruelty are colorblind.
Liberal outrage is not.
I hate the same folks Chris Rock hates: Rednecks and Niggas.
So who is the racist? Ask any group of liberals.
The old mountain man.
what the hell xiotes, here's a couple links for ya. Ron Castro isn't the guy I know that suffered brain damage after HIS beating. You will have to search for the "Grandma thrown from her porch by the mob" link. I have to split.
I heard people here say the guy deserved it 'cause he shoulda known better.
Guess he missed the memo.
