Mike's Blog Round Up

Attytood: Right-wingers claim even the CIA is afraid to go out in Iraq without trigger-happy Blackwater at their back. But those same exact guys say the surge is working?

CorrenteWire: Yup. POTUS should hire OJ. Definitely.

Much That Is Hidden: Summing up the costs for the MoveOn debacle. Good thing MoveOn didn't ask the General's superior officer to do an ad--it might have had the headline, "ass-kissing little chickensh*t" which isn't as clever as "Be-Tray-Us".

Milk and Cookies: Monty Python vs. Tasered Student? Dang, it is about the "violence inherent in the system"...

Guest round up by Blue Gal, who still wonders about that woman at the Oprah/Obama thing and whether anyone had the heart to tell her about her shoes. Send tips to bluegalsblog AT gmail DOT com

Here is a great, brief explanation about the devaluation of the dollar, the lowering of interest rates and who's benefiting. Its a question from Ron Paul to Bernanke. Interesting stuff.

canadian dollar is equal to us dollar!
euro was at 1.40 yesterday.

No more international traveling for me til I'm super-rich!

Sorry to be off topic but I just took the time to jump in the time machine back to Jan 20, 2001 to read Dubya’s inaugural address. What a piece of work viewed through the lens of 2007. Some eye openers….

“And this is my solemn pledge: I will work to build a single nation of justice and opportunity.”

Where is is magical nation of which you spoke?

“Some seem to believe that our politics can afford to be petty because, in a time of peace, the stakes of our debates appear small.”

Now a classic Bushism “Some seem to believe…” Who are these people you so often speak of that are so fond of saying retarded things? And why do you insist on quoting them?

“Our national courage has been clear in times of depression and war, when defending common dangers defined our common good. Now we must choose if the example of our fathers and mothers will inspire us or condemn us. We must show courage in a time of blessing by confronting problems instead of passing them on to future generations”

Translation, get ready for some war making people, I got some bones to pick!

“Together, we will reclaim America’s schools, before ignorance and apathy claim more young lives.”

Wow. Ignorance and apathy could be the title of your biography.

“We will build our defenses beyond challenge, lest weakness invite challenge.

We will confront weapons of mass destruction, so that a new century is spared new horrors.”

We will, however, ignore any actual challenges presented to us in our daily briefings.

WMD. Did he really blow this horn 30 seconds into office? Thanks for a horror free new century too!

“Government has great responsibilities for public safety and public health, for civil rights and common schools. Yet compassion is the work of a nation, not just a government.”

Since I’ve never really been the responsible type, prepare for monumental failures in each of these areas.

“Many in our country do not know the pain of poverty, but we can listen to those who do.”

Odds are good that if you didn’t know one of these people to “listen” to, you are now one of them and someone can “listen” to you.

“America, at its best, is a place where personal responsibility is valued and expected.”

So by his own definition, America is now at it’s absolute worst. I thought so. Nice job!

“After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: “We know the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong. Do you not think an angel rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm?’”

Translation: It’s okay that I’m stupid and week, ’cause God is on my side.

Jefferson response to Page: “Are ye drinking again John”

“Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inauguration. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation’s grand story of courage and its simple dream of dignity.”

Dude? Jefferson would have been shiting himself with rage had he seen a unelected President seated by an illegal Supreme Court decision.

“This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.”

Lucifer was an angel.

I hear the Fla. student said, as he was finally hauled away, "Help. Help. I'm being repressed."

Actually Lucifer was a minor Roman sun god, hence the etymological meaning "light-bearer." He seems to be like the Dioscuri twins Castor and Pollux. Just like everything else in the Bible the use of his name is another example of its derivativeness.

Why is a political site linking to a blog that makes fun of people's shoes?

Seriously, doesn't Blue Gal have something better to do? At least those women were invoved and educating themselves. Who cares what shoes they wear to do it in?

More worrying about the secret police and less fashion police, please.

No I don't have anything better to do, actually. The women in question paid 2300 dollars EACH to see Oprah's backyard, not to get educated or involved. I know some community colleges where that would pay for a semester of real education, and some poor-people charities that could use the involvement. Self-involved is what these gals were. Just saying. -- BG

And I thought what he said was, "Come see the repression inherant in the system!"

So the Roman gods were real?

I know a lot of people here aren't fond of Biden, but if you missed the speech he is now giving on the floor of the senate, you have missed something important. Say what you will about the guy, he understands the middle east probably better than anyone in DC. This is the guy bush better listen to if he wants to have any success at all in the region. Biden has the road map if bush wants to get there.

You should check out the latest issue of Macleans magazine too -- the cover article is "How Bush Became the New Saddam."

I could link to www.macleans.ca to show you, but P-Nasty posted it first: http://perezhilton.com/?p=5854

Speaking of asskissing little chickenshits, this morning on MSNBC Contessa Brewer and Tim Russert were trying rip the MoveOn ad. Brewer should have watched KO's commentary last night, she could have learned something or two. Petraeus is now fair game as a loyal Bushie.

As real and as unreal as any others.

Some woman walked into Logan Airport with a black hooded sweater that had a circuit board, wiring and putty glued to the front it. Of course, she was promptly under duress with guns pointed at her face. "It was art", she claims.

Oh yeah, and she's an MIT student... figures... so smart that they have zero common sense.

I wonder if she got picked up by the fashion police? -BG

As a young man I remember sitting in a theater and laughing my ass off at Monty Python and the Holy Grail . Whoda thunk that over 30 years later we'd all be living it . And NOBODY can recite sarcasm, pathos and irony like the great Michael Palin .

Of course once King Arthur shakes Dennis a little he just gives up in frusteratation and Dennis is free to go back to his hovel for tea. He wasn't beaten with a mace then dragged to a dungeon.

How frusterating, frusteration.

And all those people who are intellectually weak by saying the U. of F. student deserved what he got , may you someday have a disagreement with a park ranger .

The Admiral's characterization of Petraeus dovetails nicely with the recent articles about how those around him have learned to manipulate Bush through flattery. Helps explain why Bush likes Petraeus so much...in addition to the fact that Petraeus tells him just what he wants to hear, of course.

Hey Blue Gal: Men who think intelligence is an aphrodisiac find me attractive.

That would be me> Yes indeedy!!! But I play for the other team, sadly. I liked your fashion week day scoop.

Thanks Edwin. That's okay, the other team has some cute ones and most of them have way better fashion sense than those Santa Barbara Oprah sycophants. Keep the faith, honey. - BG
