Colbert had been doing voiceover work for years before the Report. I'm sure it's a big honour, though it comes as no surprise.
I bet it still bugs Bill O'Reilly to be satirized (and bested on his own show) by somebody who played Philip K. Sebben on Harvey Birdman. May he keep up the good work.
"someone with glasses isn't successful because they haven't successfully beat myopia"...
As someone whom has worn glasses (with a brief stint wearing contact lenses) most of his life , I appreciated hearing this put into words. I'd prefer not having to rely on such a crutch, but I've come to accept them as a part of me, although this has reminded me of instances where I found myself being denigrated for them (mostly as a youth in school but also in relationships where the other party believed I needed to disguise this aspect of myself they found personally embarrassing).
It is interesting to me to be reminded of something (I had believed) I'd learned to accept and given almost no thought to others' perceptions of in this matter, but have now found myself being revisited by long-forgotten memories with such a simple comment (and no, surgery is NOT a consideration of mine). I wear them out of need and that's just a part of who I am (I've even learned to find women with glasses to be sexy, which only goes to prove how I've had to overcome my own learned biases in this respect).
Thanks for this post and thank you Stephen for pointing out yet another aspect of subtle hypocrisy in this world. ;-)

Wait, there are still people over the age of 13 who still revile people who wear glasses? I mean, I know that some of the really thick opaque-looking lenses can be unnerving but... damn I'm out of touch. Thanks for sharing though Klunk.
I love Stephen. I also highly recommend that you go out and buy the October issue of Vanity Fair--there is a wonderful article about him in it and the full page picture of him is exquisite--I'm 58 and if I had a son I would have loved to have had one like either Stephen or John Stewart. I love their humor.

I still wish the Simpsons would have Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury on like he requested.
I, for one, salute our new insect overlords. All hail ants!
