Uh how is that Project for a new american century going? What happened to 'the hunt' for the Nine Eleven 'conspirator' Osama Ban Laden? What about the US Military Grade Anthrax 'Terrorist'? Oh! Is Iraq a 'Democracy' yet? Did you find any nookular WMD? Oh!
The truth is there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Protesting, Voting in Rigged Elections, What a mess.
but, on the other hand... what the hell is the U.S. going to do about those bases and that embassy? can anyone foresee the U.S. maintaining that embassy peaceably? I mean, before.. say, 2050?...

If that embassy was built by the same shady contractors as the ones who built other infrastructure in Iraq, then it will disintegrate in less than ten years... and that's assuming no one will bomb it in that time span.

Today's assignment is: Follow/discover how Al Queda communicates on the internet - we're going to need the same subterfuge!!

Yes, there is something really, really wrong with what 'we' are doing from the Free Left Blogistan perspective, but....
The 'plan' is working just fine for those who pull the Cheney/Bush sockpuppet strings as you can see here:
Read the wording of the legislation. It was a non-binding "sense of the senate" bill that didn't even mention moveon.org or the ad. Its Republican framing that calls this a condemnation of moveon.org.
I want the majority to start pushing its agenda in congress. Sure, they can put up the occassional withdrawl bill, but I'd like to see bills on health care, wilderness preservation, alternative fuels, etc. - you know, the rest of our agenda that is supported by 80% of the population.
So the two events just sort of happened together by chance? That's kind of like the coincidence that we must "free" countries that just happen to have a lot of oil. And, to me, the non-binding nature of it just kind of rubs in the ineffectual, dare I say defeatocrat, nature of the Democrats we elected. I mean, they can't even make a dog and pony show like this binding. I agree with the rest of your post, though. The Republicans have their flashpoint issues, like gays, and the Democrats have ours, like our criminally negligent Representatives who let the Republicans grab our ears and go at it.
Is he really? I mean, I agree with his political sentiments on the whole, but when is the last time you laughed out loud at a TMW strip? The format is always the same: an overlong wheezy multi-panel oration on the subject of interest, with an anemic punchline at the end. Not funny!

Sorry to disagree. It's hilarious. You're looking in the wrong place, I might suggest, it's not in the "punchline", the humor is in the dead-on satire of those running this country, it's pitch-perfect in taking these fools exactly as they are with only a slight tweak upward toward the absurd. The humor is also in the timing, strange as that may sound for a cartoon. It's the "huh? and "oh did you say something?"
Anyway, I laugh out loud all the time, to answer your question. And I rarely do at what passes for humor elsewhere.

hw, I think you've got too much starch in your shorts. I can't wait for Tom Tomorrow cartoons to come out. It's the combination of the obvious, and an understated wit that impresses me. If you think that's easy to do, try it yourself. I generally always laugh and send them to my friends. This one is great!!!
I used to enjoy reading "Our Modern World". Now, when I click on the cartoon I get nothing. Or rather, everthing else but. Is there a direct link to the cartoon without having to spend half an hour clicking on dozens of pages to uncover it?

Weird. My click takes me right to it. And no, not a Salon member.

Sometimes my browser will go to the cartoon but the immediately forward me to the Homepage. Click your "Back" arrow once to reload the cartoon page.
I love TMW, I personally would love to see a pic of Sparky Penguin strangling that grouchy little bastard Mallard Filmore, the cartoon version (well, more cartoony) of Rush Limbaugh. But when it comes to fall on your ass funny, my favorite is 'get fuzzy'.

Yep, things are just fine for certain 'folks'.
Absolutely brilliant.

Some of America's most notorious traitors walk the halls of the US Congress and Senate.
