New Vote Vets Ad: The Real Phony Is Rush Limbaugh
Another powerful ad from Vote Vets, and they really let Limbaugh have it. Rush can't help himself as he continues his attacks on our troops and veterans, accusing Ohio Democrat and Iraq veteran Paul Hackett of joining the military to pad his resume. Think Progress has more on a letter that's circulating around Capitol Hill urging members to condemn Rush and have also issued a challenge to lawmakers to give him the same treatment they did Move On.
We can't run this ad without reminding Rush about Jon Soltz's challenge:
Via The Huffington Post:
My challenge to you, then, is to have me on the show and say all of this again, right to the face of someone who served in Iraq. I'll come on any day, any time. Not only will I once again explain why your comments were so wrong, but I will completely school you on why your refusal to seek a way out of Iraq is only aiding al Qaeda and crippling American security.
Ball's in your court. Read more...
The more pressure put on Limbaugh the better. I would pay to watch Soltz (and Congress) take him down, but we all know el Rushbo would never have the guts and will continue to dodge him. Contact your representatives in the House and Senate and let them know you want them to condemn Rush's disgusting and un-American statements about our troops and veterans.

Rush is on the EIB network. I believe it stands for Excrement in Broadcasting. Could I be mistaken?
well, all rush and his minions will continue to say is, that he was taken out of context...however, if you listen to the show where he tried to defend himself, he also attacked murtha and beauchamp as being phony
and now, sorry to go ot, but lufa boy is at it again.
despite his protestations of being taken out of context, he insists on continuing to do the same to others, and is again attacking boulder hs, first by replaying the out of context quotes by the health educators, and by calling the hs students "dopey" for staging a protest against the pledge (when will someone inform lufa boy that the pledge is a socialist prayer)
big tuff lufa boy....has no prob attacking kids, but screams like a little bitch when attacked by adults

Oh, Oh...Fox News analyst (and regular O'Reilly contributor) Col. David Hunt's latest column on the Fox website (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298203,00.html) is headlined - "Top Military Officials are a Disgrace to Those They Lead," and begins with the sentence - "Our generals are betraying our soldiers … again." Come on...how different is "General Betray-us" vs. "Our generals are betraying our soldiers?" Throw in, "Top miitary officials are a DISGRACE," and that should make Col. Hunt a full-blown traitor, right? Let's place a few calls to John Cornyn's office and see if we can get a resolution condemning this, or at least an addendum to the Move On condemnation resolution.
Can someone tell me - what happens when senate or congress condemns some ad or someone? Is it just embarrassing? Can someone explain?
Rush Limbaugh should be immediately terminated from Armed Forces radio. I can't believe his rank stupidity is broadcast to our soldiers!
i can't believe the military listens to this homosexual drug addict.
Alex @ 4:
nothing happens...it just makes great fodder for the in the beltway talk shows and wingnut radio
The repugnacans continue to worship drug addicts and convicted felons. A person can't sink low enough to shame the pretend patriots. When you say you're a conservative, sex tour taking, viagra swilling, oxycotin addicted, bloated, draft dodging, rush limpballs is what you support.
VIDEO-New Vote Vets Ad: The Real Phony Is Rush Limbaugh
Another powerful ad from Vote Vets, and they really let Limbaugh have it. Rush can't help himself as he continues his attacks on our troops and veterans, accusing Ohio Democrat and Iraq veteran Paul Hackett of joining the military to pad his resume.
hey, my friends cousin is on that ad..(dats what I'm talkin bout)
BTW...
Here is an interesting concept..... Rush enjoys access to Armed Forces NEtwork where the republican sound machine spews tons of "Talking Points" through this mouth piece.
Perhaps we can Ban Rush from AFN,
No Mouthpiece, no talking points,
The question is who gets to replace his spot??
Off-topic....
...but not entirely.
Here's a recent interview on CBS with Michael J. Fox, a man Rush atacked for acting a desease. How loathesome!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ6_5OCRxTE&eurl=
Drug Addict. Sex Pervert. Avoided serving his country in Nam.
That's 100% of all you need to know about Rush.
Sex Pervert. Drug addict. Coward.
Get it?
Alex @ 4:
It's the same thing that happens whenever Dem Congress critters do something about Bush: they sound out a nasty email.
Paul Hackett's shit has more honor than this guy.
Lush Limpballs, the white owl king. He would run from a cap gun. When real men joined the military, Rush joined the phonies club and went looking for anal cysts. I don't believe he ever had one. The only thing he does have is a cowards heart.
Did you hear that Rush, you're a coward straight forward and that can't be taken out of context. Rush Limbaugh, the king of cowards.
If I ever see you coward boy, I'm going to whip your ass like the sissy you are and always will be so look out fat boy. Don't make any mistakes because I can out run you and everyone will get to see you screaming for help like the coward you are. You're going to be seen whimpering on You-Tube.
Challenging Limbaugh to have a guest on his show is futile. Limbaugh, and the rest of his brethren (O'Reilly, Malkin, Boortz, Hannity, et all), operate their divisive, hate mongering programs by limiting as much information and dissenting opinion as possible. It would cause all of their lemmings to look to high bridges if their gods were ever exposed as the phonies they are. What they should ask the cowardly chickenhawk Limbaughs of the radio world first is to open their shows to another point-of-view. They can't even tackle opposing points of view, and they dare to smear troops risking their lives in this ill conceived, illegal, immoral occupation?
None of this will change anything.
Rush, his fellow PNAC-loving pundits and their fans are immune to reason.
My friend was sent to Iraq at the beginning of the war and came home about 13 months later. He wasn't injured in the war but he died last year of a medical condition. If he were still alive he would have gone to visit Rush and explained what being a guardsman/soldier in Iraq is all about . My friend turned 50 yrs old while he was serving in Iraq and he was no phony.
I am at the verge of losing my "peacenik" status over rush limpballs latest insanity. My son has served his country honorably over 24 years and is a Master Sergeant in Special Forces. Is that a**hole calling my only son a "phony soldier"? If so, I would join Mr. Soltz at limpballs studio. Only I wouldn't do any talking. I would be there to shove that fuggin cigar down his filthy throat because I can give an educated guess as to what else has been down that throat.
Imus got fired. Why are o'lielly and limpballs allowed to still spew their venom over the public airwaves?
Congress has no place in this or the moveon.org situation. This is free speech, no matter how repugnant or reprehensible it may be. I support Rush Limbaugh's right to be an utter Moron and think it serves to contrast the differences between him, his listeners and those belonging to the Human Race.
Just got this email from cnn
"Newt Gingrich will not run for president in 2008, his spokesman tells CNN."
Whew!
Rush Limbaugh -- bilious, bloviating, a corpulent, drug-addled pedophile -- should be roasted on a spit. The guy is an inflamed cyst on the backside of humanity.
And to think that people actually listen to his syphilitic ravings.
Rush fans have already settled on the false claim that Rush only called one person a phony soldier, because he had turned out not to be a soldier. They will not even listen to the original clip, even if they heard it live the first time. People will believe what they want (or need) to believe.
There should be a new categorization of GOoPer mental illness: "Excessive White Matter Syndrome." While handy for slamming the all-whitey GOP lineup, the malady has basis in fact:
“Pathological liars can’t always tell truth from falsehood and contradict themselves in an interview. They are manipulative and they admit they prey on people. They are very brazen in terms of their manner, but very cool when talking about this.”
Aside from having histories of conning others or using aliases, the habitual liars also admitted to malingering, or telling falsehoods to obtain sickness benefits, Raine said.
After they were categorized, the researchers used Magnetic Resonance Imaging to explore structural brain differences between the groups. The liars had significantly more “white matter” and slightly less “gray matter” than those they were measured against, Raine said.
http://www.usc.edu/uscnews/stories/11655.html
Might explain why GOoPers can't see shades of gray, they actually have less of it!
So, will this excellent ad actually be seen by Americans on their tellyvisions? Network, cable??
I hope it will.
It's hard to fathom self-described "patriots" still seeing Limbaugh as a remotely credible person.
gonna have to make a donation.........
WASTE, OF, TIME.
pissed off patricia @ 19:
As if he WOULDNT have been the easiest RepubliNazi pinata to smach to pieces??
the man is a walking double standard.
So why isn't the Congress rushing to condemn Limpd*ck the way they did MoveOn.org?
YES... ANOTHER BIG FAT ASS SLOB! RUSH, WHAT A typical american... a big fat slob! we used to pants these kinds of wimps at summer camp. maybe he should head back to the pharmacy and get a refill, and hope he has an overdose! what a big baby, pain pills! what really upsets me, is this guy has been on the air for years? all the dumbed down americans listen to his crap day after day? "wow" i guess it's the KARMA of this land? hold on to you shirt, cuz, i think we are if for a real drop in the abyss????????? hate to see it go this way!
pissed off patricia @ 16:
RIP to your friend, and condolences to you, POP.
Let's see if Hannity will distance himself from Limbaugh's comments. We all know he won't. He's extremely quick to play that game with Liberals and Democrats, but just let Coulter or Limbaugh to make some assinine comment such as this one and he finds some way to cover for them, and it's usually with more lies and spin. Those bastards have no decency. None.
Well, the AP has just messed this up royally with a completely false story that lets the obese chickenhawk off the hook entirely.
They finally decide to cover the story and they get it 100% wrong. Amazing.
"All the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting"
– George Orwell
Rush is a piece of crap. If he ever dared to call me (a USMC vet) a phony to my face because I oppose the war (and Rush of course wouldn't; he enjoys hiding behind his microphone too much) I would kick the living shit outta him and tear him a brand-new "hole" to keep his pilonidal cyst company! For those who don't know, that is what kept Rush out of Vietnam, not student deferments... he would have had to have been a good student, (or heck a student period), to have gotten one of those.
Better to have military service "padding" your resume than blubber padding your frame.
How long will it take the Senate to vote on a resolution to condemn this ad?
[Deleted. Flamebait-Sitemonitor]
Personally I don't want Congress to waste any more time condemning ridiculous shit like this, maybe they should spend more time figuring out how to end this war, or at least they should spend some time trying to put a halt to this march to war with Iran.
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi never should have let those bills condemning MoveOn come to the floor, but they are both gutless and deeply disappointing.
Comedian is really a funny guy, not when he tries to be funny but when he sticks his foot in his mouth, this is orally's deal, their comedy is a term called "unconscious self mutilation", they cannot help it and makes them mad when they are quoted.
Imus is into political satire like orally and comedian, only the rnc, fox, dubya and the deferred are not behind Imus.
I think that General Batiste said it best on Olbermann the other night: (paraphrasing) that 70% of this country is against the war, the military is made up of Americans and their views are mirroring the opinions of the population at large...
Meaning, that if our military is also a reflection of the American populace and their opinion about this war, then at least 70% of our American fighting men and women are also against the war that they are being asked to fight... It all fits -- low morale, low enrollment into the armed forces, shifting NAVAL personelle to fight ON THE GROUND in Iraq as Army combatants... and it seems that the only people that don't understand this are the ilk of Rush Limbaugh and Joe Lieberman...
Who actually listens to Rush anyway?
[Deleted. Flamebait-Sitemonitor]
Cunning-Linguist @ 39:
according to his ratings, somewhere between 10 to 20 million listeners per day
ignoring him is not an option...it never was
"""I think that General Batiste said it best on Olbermann ""
[Deleted. Flamebait-Sitemonitor]
So wait, it's wrong for the R's to introduce a resolution to condemn the Moveon.org ad but ok for the D's to condemn Rush's comments? If the issue is freedom of speech and Congress wasting time condemning the exercise of that right, then let Rush say whatever stupid comment he wants and just stop listening.
Trying to draw Congress into this when we are still at war, still don't have health care, still don't have any resolution to domestic spying or gitmo or anything substantive at all is simply a waste.
I thought the difference when the D's got in power was that they would address real issues that matter to Americans. I guess the joke was on us.
david burke @ 28:

so it's you!
you are the one who picked on rush and rove and made them into what they are today. thanks. thanks a lot.
Poopy @ 40:
nice straw man argument
most who join the military do so for economic purposes, not political
as for webb's son, since you dont know him personally, you have no idea why he joined up, but being from a military family may have had something to do with it, and you definitely dont know his views on the iraq war
now run back to redstate or whatever wingnut blog you are from, before i give a call to the senator, and he uses the patriot act to hunt you down and beat the everloving tar out of you
I know this won't make me popular but the Congress has no business whatsoever condeming any newspaper ad or wingnut radio talk show host. "Congress shall pass no law ... " should mean Congress should pass no law. The reason I'm so upset at this particular effort is that liberals general agree with the concept of free speach while the right-wingers who voted to condem moveon are closet totalitiarians with no such moral conflict to ponder. I'm going to come down on the side of freedom of speach and ask the congress to start minding their own business as opposed to acting like the goddamn thought police ...
Raincntry @ 43:
you are so right...lets just bend over while the wingnut fucks give it to us in the ass again
or have you already forgotten that it was kerry, trying to take the high road, and not responding to the swift boat ads, that helped to defeat his candidacy
sometimes you have to get down in the mud
and the fact is, with the chimp still in charge, no legislation is going to get past his veto pen, so why even bother
so lets have fun until the 08 election and have all out cage matches
I don't want our government to codemn Rush Limbaugh! I'd really like them all to condemn themselves for having never read the Constitution of the United States.
uncle joe mccarthy @ 41:
Sorry, but those are Rush's weekly ratings, and are made up quite a bit of one guy who listens every day (who would thus be counted as "5")
Did anyone doubt a Republican would use 'fuzzy math' to fudge the numbers?
Evlevo @ 49:
doh....sorry, i mistated
still, he should not be ignored
Rush, oh his talent is on loan from Gaad. I wasn't aware that God gave out conservative demagoguery talent though.
oh, i should add that arbitron has come up with a new way to gauge ratings, which could spell doom for rush, when it is proven how many of his listeners lie about how often they truly do listen to him
http://tinyurl.com/389n8e
MacDuff @ 46:
Lay on MacDuff. It was wrong against MoveOn and it's wrong against MorOn.
yeah, rush's talent is "on loan from god". somebody should point out that GOD DOESN'T EXIST.
Rush is all over but for the sniveling ... like that pathetic document we used to hear about sometimes ... what was it called ... oh yeah ... the "Bush" doctrine ... there should be a rule that you need to have a brain before you can have a doctrine!
Get the message! www.TheRepublicanMessage.com ... "If the RNC had a message I reckon they would have registered the dot com." -Fred Thompson

Gurney Halleck?
The AP screwed this story up royally.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070929/ap_on_el_pr/democrats_limbaugh;_ylt=...
I should expand on that. The AP is saying that "according to the transcript" the "phony soldiers" comment came after a discussion of Jesse MacBeth. That is an utter lie. Not even the "revised" transcript (which Rush edited to make himself look slightly better) shows that.
Doesn't bill o'really claim to be have seen combat?
uncle joe mccarthy @ 47:
Are your suggesting Hillary and ghouliani mud-wrestle?
For these blowhards, when they say "taken out of context" I believe it means it was a thought taken out of the unreal context of their big heads and ushered into the public arena where the thought collided with truth and reality. Taken out of Rush World and brought into the Real World where the sky is blue. If we all reside in Rush World, it's all right!
i'm with mcduff and fiver at #53
this fire can be fought without fire. it just needs exposure to the light again and again. too often people drop the one ball when a new one is thrown--juggle and keep on every one every time for as long as it takes.
people like jon stoltz and paul rieckhoff have a great opportunity to take this to the military people currently serving. i'm sure they are already paying attn but who knows how much their info is filtered.
keep it up paul and jon. show phonies like rush, rove, cheney, george, billo, hannity etc. the determination of a real soldier. a real patriot...not someone who wears stars on his p.j. s and salutes george w. bush.
[Shut up-Sitemonitor]
What I want to know is, why they couldn't find a more appropriate image of Rush Cheeseburger to put in the commercial. There ought to be plenty of images of Rush sitting on his fat ass, blowing saliva all over his microphone as he lies through his teeth... Why give him a 'beauty shot', a 'hero shot' as they say in the ad biz? I mean they take a shot at him sure, but then they show him standing there all tall and strong and noble looking with a big old flag draped over his shoulder... it winds up almost being an ad *for* Rush as well as one against him! I want to see an image that shows him as the bloated, lying, cowardly, hypocritical drug addict and sex tourist that he IS. Don't tell the truth with WORDS and then lie with IMAGES, they're just working against themselves that way!
Jenny, McDuff, and fiver are correct in taking the high road of 2 wrongs don't make a right, and it shows the left can be as wacked out as a power drunk republican after a week long "I'm not Gay" reeducation session.
Thats why I suggest hitting Limbaugh in his government sponsored listening demographics.
Ban him from Armed Forces Network .
Cut and dried, doable, and lets the soldiers know that somebody in the system understands what the lout and the talking points are about.
here is a sample schedule of of an AFN network in Europe.
http://www.afneurope.net/Wuerzburg/programming.asp
Thats your tax dollars providing his show to the troops...
Much more easier to deal with him this way on an "employer level" then censoring freedom of speech resolutions.
Call your congress person..
oh yeah, gurney was a heck of a teacher once you got pass the wine stain

[...] Staff wrote an interesting post today on New Vote Vets Ad: The Real Phony Is Rush LimbaughHere’s a quick [...]
rush didn't serve because he had a pimple on his ass. not a "phony" pimple but a real one.
Chickenshit Dems are NOT going to stand up to mean old Rushie. I have had it with contacting my representatives. It's like shouting down a fucking well. Screw the bunch of them.
Next Rushbone will go with, "he supports the Republican troops".
You know that is probably his next move.........
But we all know Rushbo as the talk radio man that is in touch with US Military. Thats why he is on Armed forces radio in Iraq. ( sorry, sarcasm ).
Rush has broadcasted on the radio in Iraq and spoke hostile and poorly of the Iraqi people. That helped the troops as much as the vietnam absentee president called world wide (with troops in harms way, "To bring it on".
Our President(commander guy'n chief) urged for the opposition (enemy) to attack our military. In essence this is how I interpret the President's bragadocious comments.
Rushbo is a neo con loudmouth that wants everyone else to fight what ever war he pompously agrees with the Decider guy on. Rushbo could not even concieve placing himself on daily patrols in bagdad.
Odds are Rushbo would have been killed and gotten others killed in vietnam with his whiney babbling on.
and yes, classicaly he raps himself in the US Flag and claims his patriotism is more than a fallon soldier.
There is no way to know if the Rush caller was really military and possibly just another deferment waiting to happen..................
It is very typical of the GOP to have them speak so ignorant of the military because they never served. They were chicken. And when one of those chicken shits calls an Iraq veteran names pertaining to their service in a meat-grinder war it would make anyone Dem, GOP-lite, and Indie mad as hell. Frankly someone should drag his fat butt over to Iraq and buy some of those 5 for $5 rugs, w/o benefit of the cavalry standing by.
Does McCain think Rush should be thrown out of the country too?
type 4 @ 6:
You say homosexual like it's a bad thing. Maybe the "type 5" unit won't have this same deficiency.

I apologize for taking up so much space here, but I decided I'd share the letter I faxed today to my Congressmen, Rep. Sam Graves (R - MO 6th District) and Sen. Kit Bond.
Not that I'm holding my breath that they'd actually do anything reasonable and responsible, but ...
Feel free to forge.
RE: Expect Condemnation of Rush Limbaugh’s Slanderous “Phony Soldiers” Remarks
Dear Rep. Graves:
On September 26, 2007 Rush Limbaugh impugned the patriotism of American troops when he characterized Iraq War veterans as “phony soldiers.”
Last month seven soldiers from the US Army 82nd Airborne Division wrote an op-ed piece in “The New York Times” questioning our continued war efforts. But also stating, and I quote, “We need not talk about morale, as committed soldiers we will see this mission through.” Since publication of that article, two of those soldiers have died in action in Baghdad. As clearly demonstrated, soldiers may – and have every right to – question the war, but it does not mean they are less committed to their mission.
Rush Limbaugh’s personal attack on our men and women in uniform is reprehensible. It minimizes the sacrifice our troops and their families are making, and has no place in the public discourse. Rush Limbaugh owes our military and their families an apology for his hateful comments that minimize their service to our country.
Given these facts, I now fully expect you to join all Republicans, who were so quick to display your outrage towards MoveOn.org, in similarly holding Rush Limbaugh to the same standard and condemn his hatemongering, bilious agitprop that he daily spews.
To use Sen. Lieberman’s sentiments, it would therefore only be consistent and logical for Republicans to now denounce Rush Limbaugh in no uncertain terms for his vile attack on our brave troops – they deserve no less. Republicans must make a choice today: either embrace the character assassination tactics Rush Limbaugh has leveled against our soldiers in their fight against al Qaeda, or denounce it as disgraceful.
Since, as our sage parents all taught us, “You can’t have it both ways” – I eagerly await your joining in condemnation of Rush Limbaugh’s vile attacks. After all, I’m from the “Show Me” state, too – and I will be watching.
Respectfully,
fiver @ 56:
Couldn't agree more, MacDuff. These people need to be opposed by us, not the government. If the government continues to get involved, they will be after us next time around when we go after them for something stupid they will undoubtedly do. And an excellent comment fiver! Loved the MorOn and way to call it like it is!
Rush, the same guy who had a deferment from Viet Nam because he had boils on his butt? What a fuckin' coward.
Would it do any good if a whole slew of soldiers contacted Rushs stations repudiating his comments, and while they're at it, contact the sponsors too.
type 4 - i can’t believe the military listens to this homosexual drug addict.
I know this was dealt with by Edwin earlier but it still makes me feel queasy.
Anyone who himself admitted that he avoided the draft for a pilonidal cyst on his nasty chickenhawk a$$ has no right to call anyone a "phony soldier."
All this crap is at the level of a feud between Trump and Rosie.
Stick to the real issues here.
My challenge to you, then, is to have me on the show and say all of this again, right to the face of someone who served in Iraq. I’ll come on any day, any time. Not only will I once again explain why your comments were so wrong, but I will completely school you on why your refusal to seek a way out of Iraq is only aiding al Qaeda and crippling American security.
Rushbo couldn't care less about al Qaeda or American security. His biography would suggest personal interests limited to prescription drugs, expensive wine, cigars and little boys.
"Ball’s in your court."
Well, maybe.
If Soltz and Limbaugh were on the same court, there'd only be one set of balls.
uncle joe mccarthy @ 2:
No it was out of context. at least I have the courtesy of listening to the things i disagree with.
search for "Jesse MacBeth" and see what the context was.
oh, here is the phony soldier speaking himself.
http://sweetness-light.com/archive/macbeth-im-proud-of-my-battle-buddies
i know that having to actually read both sides of a story is beneath most pinheads, but it's better to be right... it's no fun to have the truth mess u your tirades, but it is the truth, nonetheless
No, he was talking about Jesse Macbeth, a phony who was convicted of impersonating a soldier.
Listen to the whole thing, folks:
http://homepage.mac.com/mkoldys/iblog/C168863457/E20070928194023/index.html
I don't think there was no attack on troops, just a remark about one particular phony..
justabill @ 84:
Even a real phony soldier who was kicked out of boot camp after 44 days but who claimed he served in Iraq and saw atrocities when he never served anywhere and never saw anything?
You would think that the liberal trash would be more interested in the fact that a guy lied about being somewhere and seeing something rather than attacking the person who pointed out that he was a liar.
It shows where a person's true agenda and true loyalties are...
I am speaking on behalf of my daughter who is in Iraq right now (third time), who is a liberal democrat, who opposes the war, yet does her job regardless of hardships and hazards, who has earned two bronze stars and seven distinguished service citations for her performance. "Phoney soldier" indeed.
Since 9/11, my daughter has missed every family milestone - every holiday, every birth, and every death. I call it “Family Interrupted.” With each passing year, there is always the empty place at the family dinner table. I watch the evening news and note the losses of other families, hoping my daughter’s name will never appear on a casualty list. "Phoney soldier" indeed.
I think you can well understand my rage over this remark.
About that Jingo Limbo comment, it offends me to the point of wanting to hunt him down like a dog and [deleted - reluctantly, and with sympathy. But C&L doesn't condone violence. - site monitor].
