Paul Krugman has a Blog!
By John Amato Saturday Sep 29, 2007 4:15pmWelcome into the blogoshere!
This piece is especially important....
Since the late 1970s the America I knew has unraveled. We’re no longer a middle-class society, in which the benefits of economic growth are widely shared: between 1979 and 2005 the real income of the median household rose only 13 percent, but the income of the richest 0.1% of Americans rose 296 percent...read on

So Paul. Hope you tackle one of the issues that even the supposed "progressive" blogosphere will not directly write about. The Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Many blogs have come under attack from trolls, many "progressive" blogs are terrified to directly confront and dig into this issue.
How many times do we need to hear that this is one of the "root causes" for the anger and hatred directed towards Israel and the US. Iranian President Ahmadinejad brought this up in his address at Columbia. There was not one mention (that I read or heard and I am a media junkie) in the MSM about this part of his address or in the "progressive" blogosphere.
Will you be brave enough to address this issue and provide a healthy and respectful place for people to talk about this critical issue?
"Trickle down" basically means "piss" on the working people and the poor.
Kathleen @ 2:
Insiders refer to it as "torrent up economics"
Krugman is saying in effect, it seems to me, that America has been on a path to fascism for about 30 years.
I see the path now heading down steeply.
And what amazes me is not the 30-percenters, but those 70-percenters who are smart enough to ask what's going on but who are too comfortable to do so.
So, what's the remedy for our predicament? A modern-day revolution?
See.
America is sliding off to Comunism.
Proletarians everywhere!
Rise up, revolt against the elite!
I love Krugman. But he has been blogging since September 2005. Glad you found him.
Whitehouse @ 6:
Actually we are sliding off-back to Rodeo, Football, and Nascar
Dog Patch USA
Kathleen,
The U.S. has been getting flashing red danger signals as to the broader fallout of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for 40 years.
VietVet8666 @ 10:
I know. So when will we get it and start dealing with this issue in a fair and balanced way? How many enemies do we want to create? Have you read Carters book "Palestine Peace:Not Apartheid"
It's not "trickle down". . . it's "trickle on"
most of the people in this country, and the world for that matter, just want to lead a reasonable existence. Unfortunately there are those who can't get enough. They are not happy with billions. They want everything that everyone else has as well ! They want us to have nothing.
Kathleen @ 11:
No -- thanks for the tip -- but I've lived in and observed the period, and for about 20 years have been anticipating the nuke going off in the U.S.
Undermining the complacent middle-class can only be a good thing. Nothing in this country will progress with a "middle-class". Spark the revolution, comrades!
Cultural Hegemony ...Yep, In just a few years we have been put here, it's been working on down toward us for years, but in the last 6 it has become dangerous to the point of mass failure of the society as a whole. The Corporate leaders are the heads of the State of Hegemony, they get more and more of the pie. They keep us all under control through the TV (most of which is owned by just a couple of people) We live in dangerous times, not because of Terrorist, but because of our Corporate Controlled Government.

you are so right on
Kathleen,
You are a voice in the wilderness.
Keep it up.
VietVet8666 @ 18:
Unfortunately So
props to Krugman for debunking juntanomics
Sigrid @ 7:
The more information we have, the more informed decisions we can make. The last stat I read had the far-right at 25%. Liberals only had a paltry 18% (my, how times have changed). So, moderates hold the key to reform. This is hardly earth-shattering news. But most moderates I know, are no longer aligning themselves with the right. They also tend to be individuals who will take time to read and base decisions on what they read. Today's Bloggers, fill the need to get the information to the citizens who will act on it. Now, if we can get a unified activist's front firmly established, change will happen. Regime change is only the beginning. The past 10 years have seen so many crimes committed, it will take years to reverse them, and bring the guilty to trial.
MacDaKnife @ 22:
First time I hear the term "regime change" applied to the U.S. but it fits perfectly . It's not just the Bushites that have to go but the entire neo-con ( Dems included, i.e. Lieberman) capitalism at all costs screw anyone who's not rich mentality that punishes the very people that foolishly put their faith in it .
how about a new "french revolution" ?
bush/cheney will get their way to war with iran even if THEY have to NUKE the USA.
Robert Reich wrote:
"During World War I, the income tax rate on the wealthiest rose to 77 percent, and during World War II it rose to more than 90 percent, and stayed there. In 1953, with the Cold War raging, Republican president Dwight Eisenhower refused to reduce it on the richest Americans. By 1980, the top rate was still up there, at 70 percent. Now the top rate is 38.6 percent, and it’s heading downward."
The middle class has been going downhill ever since. It's way past time to bring back the war tax. As long as we have combat troops fighting, all income over $500,000 should be taxed at 90%. Guess how few wars we would have then.
Paul Krugman has a Blog!
So what
Who cares other than Paul Krugman.
Id say "since 1980 when Regan was elected, the US has been deteriorating". The 70s were bad for fashion, but otherwise normal.
Sounds to me like Krugman is using his blog to sell his book.
I am a boomer. I was born in 1952. And I am no slouch when it comes to writing. The one thing Krugman has over me is opportunity. I didn't get to go to college because my conservative father felt females should be housewives and sent me to French cooking school instead. I was brilliant and talented and kicked to the curb so that some rich kid could fill the seat in college and could fill the slot of success in the society I wanted to join (I thought). Through the years I have built a life for myself, but I have never ceased to notice the millions of talented intelligent people thrown away so that the few, the rare, the rich, the white; could have this country in the palm of their hands.
As long as we are strapped with RELIGION they have an inroad to the sheep people. We are NOT the home of the brave and the land of the free. We are the home of the pissant sheeple who are afraid every time their "leaders" tell them it is "code orange". We are a society where ADULTS wear diapers for heaven's sake!
This country is not the nation I was raised to live in. That America, the one where the land was peopled with brave, free, hard working smart people, died. Yes it died when people dug into their CAREERS and let Ronald RayGuns take over the land. It DIED when people let the preachers run the show.
All anyone wanted to do is ENJOY their time off and watch TV, sports, or play.
Everyone thinks someone else will carry the load. There is always someone to do it.
Well they gave up on our country and handed it over to the FASCIST JACKELS and that is where we are today. We live in a shell of what USED TO BE America.
We live in a country that has us so hemmed in with rules and regulations, punishments and fines, we don't even know what they are and must hire a lawyer to tell us how to wade through the system anymore.
It stinks and it sounds like sour grapes, but I speak the truth. I will tell you for free what Krugman wants to SELL you.
There is no America anymore. We will not find our way to freedom until the unspoken event occurs.
And we all know what that is.
nothing like a rich guy championing for the poor
I have to wash my glasses.
I thought this said Paul Krugman Is a Borg.
