I just totally don't understand what it is these people stand for anymore. There was a time when I got it. I understood the ideals and values they were working toward and why they cherished them so. But now, it seems, in their quest to destroy all that is liberal and progressive and all that has respresented so much of America in the past 30 to 40 years, that they've lost sight of that which they once espoused. What are the values of Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh that people taking this poll so admire? The name-calling? The disdain for facts? The general attitude that all that is not them is evil?
But the thing is, I know exactly what it is. These people are not symbols of a great and rewarding values system. They are entertainers, simply beneficiaries of celebrity. They care nothing more about the Republican Party and conservatism than making money off of it. I don't think understand the respect I would have for them and their political positions if they actually bothered to take them seriously.
But they don't. All one has to do is examine their disdain for informed debate and the mountainous pile of instances in which their facts have incorrect - there are entire books written about this stuff - to see why I disrespect them so.

I just went to CNN.com and could find nothing. They rushed through the story the way they do when its something they don't really want to say. Example...When those pallets of money "went missing" in Iraq, I only saw the picture of the money once. The pic was more powerful ie lets not show it. Hopefully someone here can get the story up.

I was bored one Sunday and in flipping through the channels I saw that Faux Noise program, 'The half hour news hour' and so I watched. Oh my was that show bad; even the studio audience wouldn't laugh at the hate-laced stupidity. I did like the 2-3 minutes of unbridled hateful ranting provided at the end by Mr Irrelevant, Dennis Miller.
We really need to allow a portion of this country to secede so the right wing lunatics can go make their utopia. Pay the cost for those who want to move there and for those who want to leave. Let the right wing crazies go full on with their vision, let them experience first hand the total horror that ensues. Let them do it in some small part of this country before they win and make it happen in every part of this country. The scary part about the right wing hatemongers is that they will never give up; they are our Taliban.
