I was thinking the same thing.

I loved Dennis' reference to the pack of cards. Like the elite hierarchy in our country are nothing more than empty suits pretending to more power over us than they really have.

Dennis is the only Candidate who deserves and needs to be President for our future..

I can not .. and will not vote for any other.

Maybe we can amend that after Dennis becomes president. Get this man in the White House and I guarantee you that Elizabeth will be the new Princess Dianna, doing charity work all across the globe. What could be better for American than that?

Jenny'O's picture

first and i tell every one i know to vote for my boy den.

Jenny'O's picture

dang! EIGHT?
well while i'm back, i also tell them why dennis is the man and that it is critically important to get to the primaries and vote for the K-man.

rduke's picture

He is the only candidate that actually "GETS IT"...

He gets the Future...
He gets the role of Technology...
He gets Democracy...
He gets the Environment..
He gets the Horror of War...
He gets the Military Industrial Media Complex...
He gets the Medical Industry...

How anyone can consider a different candidate... obviously exposes how they themselves DONT GET IT...

Dennis Kucinich for President 08!

Blue Buddha's picture

Wow... if that nutcase Jason Werner is the only candidate vying for his seat, Kucinich will never lose his Congressional seat.

Dahgrostab'ph-r-i's picture

Wow, Kurcinich sure looks like a World Leader when he speaks, can't hardly say that about any of the other candidates...they all kind of look like their running for class president instead of American President.

cant she move to a neighboring district and run for congress?

You know something? that is so true. Kucinich talks like an adult. The rest of the candidates talk as if they are speaking to children...maybe middle schoolers!

Apples's picture

Dennis Kucinich is just great. The way he's portrayed by our media is pathetic. They try to make him out to be some kind of extremist.

If you took all the cuurent candidates back to the 1970's, all the Dems but Kucinich would be Republicans, and the Republicans would be ostracized, fascist loons.

enigma4ever's picture

Denis rocks...he does GET IT as someone wisely said above...and he is miles ahead in this thinking....and well, he is married to one beautiful first lady , she is so articulate and educated...and together they would be amazing...WHY does the media NOT get it ????

Thing Fish's picture

Just a personal recollection from 2 years back.

I brought up the usefulness of blogs to a chairman for Young Democrats a few years back. His response was derision. His view was blogs did nothing while his boss in the party help bring down Enron.

JeffColsOH's picture

I admire Rep. Kucinich so much. I wish he was my Rep..(Thank God Deborah Pryce is quitting!) I hate how he's dismissed by the media as crazy. Editorials in the Dispatch and the Plain Dealer have been very unfair to him. BTW, there's not a chance in Hell of a Republican winning Kucinich's seat.

Manila Ryce's picture

uncle joe mccarthy @ 13:

ie, the best candidate, but cannot win

Actually, I disagree. From the Republicans I've talked to, the Democratic candidates they seem to respect most are Gravel and Kucinich. Needless to say they hate Hillary, but they identify with Kucinich's sincerity. They don't agree with him, but they at least respect him (in the same way many Dems respect Ron Paul). Old school conservatives like Buchanan have said nicer things about him that some prominent so-called liberals have. Lets also not forget that the Republican base in middle America probably has the most to gain from Kucinich's policies of canceling NAFTA, the WTO, and not-for-profit healthcare. The main obstacle keeping Dennis from gaining the presidency seems to really be a lack of Democratic support.

tyree's picture

d-man's picture

OK, of course I am a Kucinich supporter because of his ideas; seriously the country and the world NEED him to win. But...HOW...how did he do it? How did he marry such a lovely woman? He's an inspiration to all goofy looking guys...

He's just the only candidate I can vote for, as so many have said in these comments.

If Hillary is the nominee, I could care less whether she or the Republican wins in November -- it's just more of the same scary shit.

Go Dennis!

paranoia's picture

People say that Dennis can't win forget that he can't get media coverage because he is the only candidate that can take down the corporate media down. He is the only one that can do that. He is the only one that can empower the people to decide their own fate.

If you look at Venezuela and how the corporate media tried to take down Hugo, and how those that were kick out of the palace all fled to Miami, then you would know what is at stake and why Hugo donated oil for the poor that were without heat in the winter. Even our brothers south of us know what happen if you let the corporation take over the country.

Dennis is the only one that has any intention to take down the war machine and the corporates that feed off of it. This vote is so important, that we are not only riding on the war machine but also failing our environments in global warming. This threat to our climates is only going to create more fear and chaos, and Dennis is the only candidate capable of not letting Bush fear mongering antics to undermine his rational thinking.

paranoia's picture

If Hillary becomes a candidate then I would urge Dennis Kucinich to run as a independent. I would go as far as endorsing Dennis over Al Gore.

I'll bet they also said that he coulndn't win his current seat in Congress as well.

Proud American's picture

We should not give hand our vote to a candidate just because s/he is electability, we must hand our precious vote for a candidate who genuinely deserving. We the people have that power. Million dollar campaign contributions is only a vehicle to pay for a high priced media air time. That does not mean anything with substance. It only means more exposure to a puppet candidates owned and employed by the slave takers, BIG corp.

We the people are at the other end of the spectrum of balance between the employer and employee. The CORPORATION has the money but WE have the VOTES. Corporation cannot vote, people CAN.

So for those like mind people who want peace, security, healthcare, a civil society that is governed by laws and not by kings and harmony among a diversity,,,,,,,,,,,then you must vote your conscience. Use your mind. Used all your sense to help determine the right President that will lead us out of the mess BUSH/Cheney put us in.

AS FOR ME....................Congressman Dennis Kucinich........I believe is our best hope for the people and our Nation. HE HAS MY VOTE.......

He understand his people. He understand the Constitution. He never forgot where he came from and who he is. He will not sellout his people or his nation. He believe that he can accomplish greater things through PEACE. He has been RIGHT all along about IRAQ. And he has remained consistent with his principles. He is much much more than what we have seen lately from other candidates who have sold themselves to corporate interest.

Our way of life is at RISK and who better know that than Dennis Kucinich. That is why many at the TOP tier and their supporter find him a Threat. There is not ONE thing WRONG they can say about Dennis Kucinich. BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN RIGHT ALL ALONG. HIS VOTING RECORDS speak loud and CLEAR.

Don't hate him because he is short and right. Love him because he is ONE of US, He is OUR VOICE and OUR HOPE. And what a winner.....a PEACE PRESIDENT with a beautiful future FIRST LADY.

That and send him some money for Gods sake! He needs it.

Blogs and the internet do have power. Look what it has done for Ron Paul. Too bad Dennis Kucinich supporters haven't done quite the same for him.

I wish the blogs would also use thier power for other things. Like planning protests. Strike911.org definately could have used help last month. If every blog joined together to protest every illegal thing this admin has done, and continues to do, they would have to take notice. Instead of that post about wearing bracelets don't you think a planned protest would have a bigger impact?

Wouldn't MoveOn.org be better off advertising a protest that everyone can take part in?

Or is this all a theater to keep everyone calling each other names to divide and conquer?

Kucinich supporters are passionate... with out getting paid for it..

Because lord knows he does not have the money or machinery to hire up shills to spout the rhetoric....

The same cannot be said for the rest of the front runners...

It is my belief that a Kucinich nomination would erase alot of apathy...it would motivate the youth..and disenchanted that have not voted for years... and because of that is why we are where we are in government.

If we were to nominate Kucinich he would win by the largest margin ever in election history....

A presidential candidate discusses the power of blogs and it stymies you to think it would appear on one? The issues you raise result from the opinions of posters on the threads and not C&L who by and large just give them the topics and material for discussion. The nutjobs you refer to can at least spell conspiracy, leading me to believe that perhaps they've read a little more and might just know their sh#t a little better. You say their desire for Utopia will lead us into chaos, tyranny, and violence but if you would look around you'd see those things already. The two candidates that you knock are the ones most likely to reverse the trend.

No, if if you look into it these jerks are telling people that the govenrment is poisening immunizations and that Aids victums shouldn't take their medications in addition to the crap about 9/11. A lot of "good liberals" have been sold a bill of goods by the radical right. If you actually believe that Dick Cheney can shape-shift into a blood-drinking lizzard or that George Bush hails Satan at Bohemian Grove there is not a lot I can do for you. If you want a Government which concerns itself with jobs, healthcare, education and enviornmental protection ... Well the answer is clear. Orwell's novel was about the dagers of television and Communism. He wasn't looking into the future and predicting Bush. And these aren't straw-men they are out there. And frankly, if a symathetic Democrat can find this crap a Repug can most certainly find these things and exploit them. The facts are out there: Korea and Vietnam cost ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE more lives that Iraq and afganistan have. Cast your vote as you see fit by all means ... All I am asking is that you look at where your information is comming from. Source documents are particularly useful in light of the fact that internet bloggers have a propencity to pull facts out their nose. These are lies, they have to stop and I'm sorry that a poor speller has to be the one to break it to you ...

Dr. Fed Up's picture

One point you people miss, in all of your idealistic trappings, is that reguardless of the reality of the situation, the majority of this country lives in LaLaLand. Kucinich could well be the savior of the universe, but there isn't a chance in hell he will be elected because this country is inhabited by a majority of idiots. Your media is owned, the courts are owned, the police are owned, your politicians are owned, and the bulk of the population is owned - by corrupt bastards, bought politicians, the MIC. One dissenting voice oppressing a tornado of lunacy and avarice isn't likely to get far - and I've expended my mortality trying. But Good Luck to anyone who takes on the challenge - you'll need it! Personally, I've had my fill of the lot of the lies, the collusion, and the bastards.

My beef is that he’s simply not radical enough. For example, he dismisses even the possibility that our government had something to do with 9/11, he clings to the fallacy that religion is to blame for the instability in Iraq, and thinks that corporate candidates like the Clintons are good for America because of their extensive experience in screwing us over.

I know you're just asking the question ... There is a popular Daily Show routine about that ....

The rest of the non-liberal candidates follow suit by reiterating their support for the terrorist state of Israel ...

Talk about pulling facts out of your nose. Your rants are more incoherent than the imaginary bloggers you deride. Please take your own advice and post some sources of the lunacy you claim is commonplace. You seem to be the one using radical right-wing talking points, like O'Reilly painting all liberals as anti-Semites for a comment or two he picked off of MoveOn. RPM-45 Says: The facts are out there: Korea and Vietnam cost ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE more lives that Iraq and afganistan have.

Well... you open up such a can of worms, that to address them all would take up far more time then I am willing to give atm to someone such as you. *hint* you should re-read Eric Blair a few more times..

However I will simply address your most coherent point, even though it is placed in such an incoherent way in your babbling comment.

Korea was a far different conflict and involved totally different strategies... First off all it was symmetric warfare, with pretty defined battle fronts...and tactics such as human waves, and so forth... all in all depending on who you believe around 2 million died in total...

Vietnam was a bit more similar to what is going on in Iraq, as it was mostly asymmetrical warfare, and booby traps... However there was also a "front" so to speak and a general target for B-52 bombers for over a decade spanning 3 countries...

Death totals for that war range as high as 3-4 million...

Certainly war is a horrid thing...

However to say that they were worse by orders of magnitude then Iraq shows how shallowly you pay attention to information in general...

There are estimations that we have by this military action been the cause of over 1 million dead Iraqis...and this is not over yet.

You also fail to take into account the first Iraq war... which took out 500,000 easy... then over the 12 years of sanctions and bombings... there was another million... half of which were children... Bringing the total if you have been paying attention to well over 2 million ...and climbing to 3 and beyond as this is going to drag out for many more years...if not until the end of our civilization.

You do not have to be bombed... or shot to be a war casualty...

Ok I think I have given you enough of my time... and taken enough of yours.. You have an awful lot to study...

If you think Hillary Clinton doesn't have many supporters in Oregon, you're right.

"Obama won a straw poll Saturday taken among attendees of the Democrats' biennial retreat at the Sunriver resort. He picked up 49 votes, just edging out Edwards, who finished with 47 votes. Clinton came in third, with 36 votes out of about 175 votes cast. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson followed with 12 votes and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich had 10.
...

Though it is a small sample size, straw polls like the one at Sunriver can be a telling test of a candidate's strength among the party's base, those who will volunteer to knock on doors, work the phones and donate money."

The democrats need to realize they are going to get anyone they want elected president. They need to select the person who will bring about change. Not the person that in an average year would get elected.

Sad to say, Hillary does not stir any winds of change, she is conformity personalized. Kusinich would be interesting. Obama and Edwards would probably be very good as well.

Very true. What so many Democrats seem to forget when stating that Hillary is the "lesser of two evils" is that she isn't running against Bush. She's tried to make it seem that way though since he's the only person that can make her look progressive by comparison. Even the Republicans know they're going to lose no matter who they nominate. We basically have been given a free pass to pick whomever we want without any opposition from the other party. Let's nominate an actual liberal this time. We haven't done that in a few decades and it shows. I'm unapologetically pro-Kucinich.

This guy is right on target with every single issue and that is his problem with this disgusting media.

They have a lot of money invested in the Bush likes and people whom are willing to dilly dalley with corporate America and make deals to get what they want are exactly the ones they are going to spot light and force you into thinking that is the one you want. They go further by playing with the cameras and inventing crowds that do not exist and those that really do get attention from huge amounts of people, they only show you their face. It's the camera games folks.

You may all rest assured that the ones that do will get all of the amenities, corporate America has to offer and they are going to screw the hell out of the people of this country, just like Bush has done.

When you get so deeply involved with these corporate thugs, there is very little else you can do but get deeper and deeper, until they distroy you as they have done to Bush and all the republicans and worse yet, you take the entire country down with you and we all really have to see this for exactly what it is.

I have followed this mess so closley from the 2000, election, to this illegal war and on through the 2004 election as I watched them out right steal the election from Senator Kerry and yes he made mistakes, but not enough for American people not to vote for him in massive numbers, that were outright stolen and this sick media has continued to force feed us this notion that Bush won. Bull shit the man has never won anything in his life.

If we do not get rid of this scum that pose as American media and these trumped up polls they play with and spew to the public, without any questions of how and where the numbers are coming from is just sick.

For the record Congressman Kuccinich won a REAL poll just last week on KGO Radio , by a wopping 300%, out of about 50 callers, he got 36 people to say they were for him.

Now this is a poll that reflects real people (democrats), not made up of republicans who are not going to vote for our candidates anyhow, but are the only people who listen and watch that slime on national TV anyhow and are privey to the run through polls they take and feed to us anyhow and these national poll takers that used to work in the interest of this country have also been corporatized in the event you have not figured it out.

I am really tired of American people taking so long to realize that they are being taken again and really scared we are going to lose another electon because of it.

Wake up people and see what is happening to us again, before it is too late and don't lose faith in the candidate of your choice because of anything you here in the media.

This is a time that we all have to mass together in huge numbers all across this country and take over these polling precents to make sure that they do not scew this election up. They still have not gotten rid of these voting machines and they are not going to for the reason we all should no by now and I know they use them to steal votes because I worked with them in additon to the great Greg Palace and other's that have the smoking gun.

With all due respect, I think it's more than just a smattering. Any post on C&L relating to Kucinich lately has received an overwhelmingly positive reception (with the exception of one or two republican nutjobs). C&L is a huge blog, and a fairly good gauge for how the left feels about certain issues. The comments in this post alone ought to be evidence enough to counter those saying Dennis doesn't stand a chance. As usual, the blogosphere is ahead of the curve, but the mainstream will eventually catch up.

C&L IS a huge blog, but unfortunately, most Americans don't read blogs. I used to participate here more often, but now only drop in occasionally. The reason being that I see many of the same people at various blogs, including my own (when I updated it regularly.) For this reason, C&L is not a good barometer of overall public opinion. It attracts precisely the people who WOULD vote for Kucinich. Due to this bent I began to also attend a weekly "Liberal" group, and all they can talk about is Hillary - and these are GSU and Emory Professors and Teachers here in Atlanta, so go figure. Then you have the Electoral College to worry about. Not meaning to sound pessimistic, but realistic. And sometime reality is extremely dissapointing, ergo the past 7 long ass years...

Best quote from Dennis from the online newshour:

So my plan, which is Medicare for all, where you recognize that the money is already there to provide the care that's needed for people, plus vision care, dental care, mental health care, prescription drugs, and long-term care.

See, what's happened is the Democratic Party, we're forgetting who we're supposed to be. We're supposed to be the party of the people. We've become the party of the insurance companies. We've become the party of the oil companies. We've become the party of the arms merchants. And somebody has to stand up and say, "Hey, where are the Democrats? Where are the real Democrats?" And I'm a real Democrat running for president.

True, but the money is also in ratings. There's a saying that the rich man will sell you the rope to hang himself if he things he can make a buck out of it. If there is a large demand for Kucinich coverage, the corporate media will cave and go for the ratings. This is essentially what happened with Ron Paul. It may be harder, but it can happen with Dennis as well. As liberals, doubt is our strength and weakness. It's doubt that gives us a rational edge over conservatives, but it's also doubt that keeps us from fully supporting an underdog. We can do this if we want it.

I love Dennis Kucinich; however, there's not a chance that he will become President Kucinich, unfortunately. I am a student of metaphysics and see that Dennis is the "real deal" - he's far too evolved spiritually though to connect with mainstream america which has become dummed down and totally devoid of personal spirituality. What he says is truth; absolute truth. However, we've gone so far down into the dark abyss of smoke & mirrors that we will have to move out of the darkness and into the light by small increments. Dennis Kucinich is already calibrating at a much higher vibration so there is still a disconnect involved between him and the average american. He does "get" it all - and on every level. Some of us "get it all" as well which is why he impresses us greatly.

Bush has taken this country so far away from it's democratic focus and into fascism that it will take a genius and a "miracle worker" to even stop our downward spiral and begin to right this sinking ship. This means that it will have to be what is called a "middle man" to bridge the gap between the depth to which we've already sunk and a rise into positivity once again. This individual must be functioning on a less elevated spiritual level than Dennis in order to do so.

I think that barring any more decline in this country once Bush has gone into exile or prison via his international tribunal at the Hague, our next prez will make the ground fertile for a Kucinich Presidency in '12. Obviously, the next one will find it almost impossible to move forward after this much horrendous damage - all he/she will be able to do will be to sift through the still yet to be disclosed evidence of corruption by the Bush Crime Cabal on a daily basis. This next prez will be embroiled in ongoing investigations of all types - in every department of this government. He/she will have all they can do to remain afloat.

And before that it was AIPAC money which is primarily a code for "Jew run the world OMG!"

I see through you ...

Ha, so you're really going to spout the cowardly argument that being anti-Zionist is akin to being anti-Semitic? Are you from Little Green Footballs? You see what you want to see my friend, but it certainly isn't through any code. Who is the conspiracy theorist here? Please provide some real evidence. You've embarrassed yourself quite thoroughly.

To be fair, a lot of anti-Israel talk smacks of a different shade of anti-Semitism. When I heard individuals prattling on about "the Zionists" or "the terrorist state of Israel," I get a little worried.

Jewish families began to return to what their Scripture dubs the holiest of holy lands as early as back in the 1400s. Why? Because they were being systematically picked off, or outright expelled, in or from other nations. And always for paranoid, scapegoat-related reasons. Over 40,000 Jews did settle into Palestine in the early 1900s - because of similar anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic laws. Right or wrong, Palestine was ordered to 'make room' for these Jews because they literally had nowhere else to go where they could live in what could be seen as a modicum of safety. Of course, by 1922 they still only comprised about 10% of the overall population of this tiny, tiny piece of land.

Still, the inevitable Arab revolts occurred. Protesting (everything from throwing rocks to blowing up buses) went on and anti-Semitism in Europe and the Middle East peaked with World War II and the Holocaust, which goes without saying. To call this the straw that broke the camel's back would be an understatement. Jewish individuals were being killed or dehumanised everywhere, and even U.N. mandates ordering a peaceful, shared resolution to the conflicts in Palestine over the long history of Jewish migration were met with flat-out rejections by Arabs and Arab organisations. Meanwhile, Jews attempting to escape persecution would head to the Israeli state because they knew that they'd at least be among friends there.

And then, after the Holocaust, Palestine--with the help of a handful of Middle Eastern states including Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt--decided to flat-out eradicate the Jews in their lands. They failed, though the Gaza Strip and other areas were now under the control of nations such as Egypt. Fearing total extinction of the Jewish people, the U.N. admitted them into the United Nations as a member. Unfortunately, there was a very conservative and protectionist movement in Israel thanks to survivors of the Holocaust trying to gain access and the incessant attacks by their neighbours. You've seen how the U.S. reacted to being attacked on 9/11, right? Well, imagine facing terrorism daily. I'm not saying that it is right or wrong, but necessity forced Israel to adopt a militaristic attitude.

Which isn't to say that there hasn't been endless attempted peace talks on the part of Israeli officials or U.N. officials; far from it. But every attempt is flat-out rejected by Palestinians, and usually for religious reasons as much as anger over their loss of land due to the aforementioned, centuries-long influx of Jewish immigrants. And while I have certainly, and loudly, objected to specific actions of the Israeli government in the past (specifically the recent past) I'm also aware that in Palestine, there is an unrealistic and dangerous desire to remove all "Zionists" from the planet. I also know that Hamas is considered a terrorist group for good reasons. Moreover, the Israeli government has repeatedly offered no-questions-asked citizenship to any Arabs who are searching for sanctuary - and believe me, there are many Israeli Arabs. Thus, calling Israel a "terrorist state" is a massive and ignorant oversimplification.

One question I like to pose to people who disagree with the U.N. officially declaring Israel a nation (remember, there were already craploads of Jews living there - mostly from escaping their own, unique experiences of prejudice) is this: How would you have solved this massive problem? What would you have done after staring down acts of genocide borne from anti-tolerant ideas which have gripped most of the Middle East and Europe? Would you have done nothing? Would you have told Zionists retreating to Palestine that, no, they were not allowed there? Where would you have put them, knowing that having them scattered throughout various other countries would mean their sure extinction? Frankly, I dislike the entire situation; it's an ugly one and an unpleasant one. Both sides have wronged, and currently Israel is very militaristic while Palestine is outright fanatical. A lot of what has happened has been unfortunate, but the past cannot be altered. Would you displace millions of Jews now simply out of some skewed notion of 'fairness to Palestinians?' Would you drive them out of their homes? Or will you acknowledge that in spite of your dislike of what has happened decades or centuries ago, what's done is done? Will you acknowledge that you don't have any better ideas? Will you admit that all you bring to the table is binary thinking and a generalised dislike of one group and stated support for another?

I apologise that this is so hideously off-topic. I simply wanted to throw another perspective out there.

Ok I think I have given you enough of my time... and taken enough of yours.. You have an awful lot to study...

Might as well point out the death per square mile. You can't even show picture of the carnage in the media, it's so bloody.
