Gordon Brown has reportedly been informed of US plans to launch limited air and special forces raids against Revolutionary Guard bases. And like his predecessor's stance on Iraq, he's ready to go along with them.

War, death, conflict, destruction, thugs, nukes, sheesh what a mess to have to exist in.

What needs to be done is to have the names of the dead GI's scrolled on the TV each night like they did during Vietnam, and published on the front of the newspaper. At least Stephanopolis is doing this.

I have to mention, I saw "Across the Universe" last night and besides for the fact that it was an amazing movie, it brought a lump in my throat and tears to my eyes to see the recreation of the Vietnam War protests, and to relive the pain and heartache of the era, realizing that so much is the same now. We hae allowed our leaders to deceive us once again, to lead our youth to slaughter but the voice of the discontent is silent nowin comparison. We are a wimper compared to a lion's roar. Sad. Indeed, heartbreaking.

We're in the shit. Big Time.

Shame on me... My first reaction to the Congresswoman's demise was to she whether she was a democrat or republican...

my mother-in-law just got back from Turkey.
she had a wonderful guide who shared his common Euro/Muslim/Eastern point of view regarding our current President/War/torture/etc. -
"How bad will it have to get before your country cries out and does something meaningful about this?!"
at least in Turkey the belief is our once great nation is most obsessed with celebrities, TV shows and our own general comfort.
sadly, it's true.

so depressing. But it needs to be seen.

I think the names of killed soldiers should be read and their pictures shown each day at the beginning of Congress and Senate sessions. They need to be reminded of these losses and questioning why we are at war. They voted for us to go to war, therefore they should be reminded of the consequences.

I am going to write my senators and congresspersons about this, but I'm not sure if that is the right route to go. Do any of you have any idea's? Should I be taking my cause to someone else?
Thanks!

I think it's a great idea........they should at least have to look at their names.

Jo Ann Davis was my district's representative. She was a tireless advocate of fascism and a stalwart enemy of the Constitution. Until illness finally overcame her, she never failed to cast a rubber stamp vote supporting or abetting the great evils of our times. Davis was a tireless panderer to rightwing religious extremeists and was greatly skilled at using patriotism as a pseudo-religion. She was always willing to wrap herself in the American flag while selling our country down the river to the benefit of her masters, Corporate America. In the finest traditions of her party, she was always able to place their interests first, above all other concerns. A faithful Republican to her last breath, she was always able to place party above country, ideology above reason, property rights above human rights and privilege above need. Now she is gone.

Good riddance.

The name that popped out at me was Ciara Durkin. Let's keep her name in the headlines. A single bullet to the head on a secure base is not a casualty of war, nor a friendly fire incident, but murder. She was murdered for uncovering some secrets and a full investigation must be conducted.

Yeah, this one has my attention as well. I just wish she had either told her family what was going on or maybe she left behind something they will find later. Kind of makes the US gov look a lot like the KGB, and I'm being nice by saying that sadly!

Thank you for putting this up each week. It's a great send off to my brothers in arms.
