I love both our Naomi's. Please see if you can get Naomi Klein on FDL. Her message is incredibly timely and incredibly important as we try to correct our course in this country.

I don't believe Naomi Wolf wants to do this herself when she says,

"The time for weeping has to stop; the time for confronting must begin."

Human history is a big recycle bin and the foundation of both freedom and oppression is the bayonet. Both hinge on the point in time when the people decide to make their decision as to which they will live under. As history has shown.

I don't think the kind of marching at the front of the pack type of leader people need has been born yet who can get us out of this mess.

I hear you.

But I think it's much more than that. The corporate media has sucked the life and passion out of Americans. It lies. It distracts. It's cynical. And it is incredibly powerful. Until Americans take control of their media (with a lot of help from the internet) -- things are not going to change.

Any potential leaders for this movement out of fascism are inevitably silenced by the corporate media. It's a catch 22 situation, really.

I just hope enough people "see the light" with the alternative media available. It's out there. But Americans need to find it en masse.

I'm a psychology grad student, too. Here's what their goal is: to create a state of complete openness to imprinting, to turn whole populations into hatchlings that they then imprint with a world more to their liking.

The goal is to shock us collectively into a condition similar to that suffered by rape victims: tonic immobility, "scared stiff." Then they ram through the Patriot Act overnight. After the first shock wears off, if the patient starts thinking independently again, prepare for round two.

I call on students and practitioners of psychology to atone for this abuse of our science. I'm looking at you, APA!

I have Naomi Klein's book and will buy Naomi Wolf's book as well. Klein and Wolf are two of America's great public intellectuals of our time, even if the former is Canadien. We can all adopt Ms. Klein as a true American patriot truth teller. The same goes for Ms. Wolf as well. I enjoy their work very much.

I also suggest the new book written by Joseph Cirincione titled, “Bomb Scare: The History, Theory and Future of Nuclear Weapons” The Hardcover, List Price is: $27.50. It has 224 Pages, and published through Columbia University Press, January 2007.

Yes, I'd rather buy books than spend money at the mall on clothes made in sweatshops or at fast food and other chain restaurants. So, criticize me all you want but I do not go to movies or to the mall or to restaurants. I do not drink or gamble. I prefer home cooked meals and a good book to read. Thanks so much. I only shop around for books and perhaps a CD or two from time to time.

I still suggest the books that urged you all to read above. You can always ask your local library to get a copy as well. I have done so numerous times. Thanks.

In the spirit of this book I'd like to point something out.

The CIA/NSA/DIA have refused to say how many extraordinary renditions have been committed (I use the word committed because it is criminal behavior).
BUT they have acknowledged over a hundred deaths as a result of "enhanced" interrogation techniques.

Let's get that into perspective.

If the number of deaths is merely a small percentage, perhaps weak hearts or other physical ailments unrecognized at the time, then we have renditioned THOUSANDS.

On the other hand if we haven't renditioned thousands, then we have killed a significant number of the detainees we have "interrogated".

Either way it is extremely alarming and should be brought to the attention of the US public.

And more to the point, either way you look at it it is an international crime.

Naomi's book is great. I loved when she was on Colbert's show and Stephanie Miller's show

I've read the book and I think it's something every citizen of the U.S.A should read. She of course is preaching to the choir here; I've been seeing this shift for the past 3-4 decades if not longer. It kinda all started with the "drug war" that gave the state too many unconstitutional powers.

This fascist shift in the U.S must be stopped. And the citizens are the only ones who can stop it.

We need to go back to the Constitution as the rule of law. All lawmakers swear an oath to uphold the Constitution. They do not swear an oath to any one person. They do not swear an oath to protect me or anyone else. Their oath is straightforward and almost every single one of them has broken their oath

They really are a matched pair and I consider it a bellwether as to how far along things have gotten to when someone like Ms. Wolf, whose main prior focus in her work has been feminism, feels compelled to write a book like this.

Just read this extract from Ms. Klein's "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism" entitled The Erasing of Iraq and what is incredibly chilling about is her description of how the President of the college I attended, (a school where only the Classics of Western Civilization are studied, and nothing else), John Agresto oversaw the complete dismantling of the Iraqi educational system.

This is the Neo-Cons in action, in that the college that Agresto ran in the US was the the incubation chamber for Leo Strauss and his Neo-Con acolytes and disciples. In fact Strauss spent the last years of his life and died on one of their college campuses, and here's a picture of one of Strauss's students getting her just reward, just like George Tenent did, for a job well done. And yes, that really is her real name.

My fear is that what Agresto did to Iraqi schools as outlined in the The Erasing of Iraq article is going to be the blueprint for the final dismantling of the American educational system.

The government heard the 9/11 plans from the hijackers' own mouths before 9/11.

No steel-framed high-rise building had ever collapsed due to fire before 9/11.

The neocons who now run the U.S. government lamented, before 9/11, that they could not institute their plans for global domination without a "new Pearl Harbor".
