Remember when comedian Rush Limbaugh mocked Michael J. Fox during the 2006 campaign? It seems he was at it again last night on FOXNews' Hannity & Colmes, where he not only denied attacking Graeme Frost, but went on to mock his voice -- Graeme has a paralyzed vocal cord.

Received my FOIA yesterday from the Selective Service System concerning :
Russ Hudson Limbaugh III, aka Rush -Selective Service Number; 23-16-51-18
Seems like Rusty has been making up facts about his deferments ie,
On 02-14-69 Rusty is given a High School Deferment. His Class graduates in May '69. Russ waits till November 23 1969 to inform the SSS of his change. Did he graduate late in Nov. from high school, or was he scared about telling the draft board about what he was really doing at the time, hiding out worried about being classified 1-A, ready for drafting? The draft was in full swing then,if you aren't not in school. you're gone!
The deferment he was given was a 2S, which differs from a 1S, A 2S is given for a "Registrant deferred because of activity in study", while a 1S is given for, "Student deferred by statue-(H) high school; (C) college.
Wonder what Russ was studying, according to the SSS, a 2S deferment isn't for college study, what and where you studying Rusty, for a year?
On Nov 24,1970 Rusty was given a 1Y- Registrant qualified for service only in time of war, or national emergency. In the "Remarks Column" it was noted that " We have found no record which provides the specific reason the registrant was found "Conditionally Acceptable For Service." ( my emphasis). Rusty road that, and the previous 2S questionable deferment, almost to the end of the Vietnam War, when on Feb 21,1972, he was given a 4-F rating.
Note; The 1-Y classification was abolished Dec 10,1971. Local Boards were subsequently instructed to reclassify all 1-Y registrants, by administrative action.
There are no records to be found on any board actions

I don't think he was mocking the kid's speaking voice. This is just the stock, right-wing radio host technique called "stating my opponent's argument in a whiny voice." It's a variation on the strawman. He does it because he never actually debates anyone--only strawmen which are just him speaking in a whiny voice. It's very effective with listeners who have an IQ of about 60.

Someone needs to stow away Rushelle Limbalkin's assertion that trotting kids out to put a face on an issue is reprehensible. We'll need them to speak out the next time the republicans do it.
I know a thing or two about a paralyzed vocal cord, and it involves a wee bit more than raspy voice. It's not as debilitating as some conditions, but it is also not something that heels and goes away. Most basic functions are affected. Besides speech, which itself can be very difficult - even painful - to do at times, it fundamentally affects eating and drinking (choking and coughing is common), sleeping (chronic dry mouth), and breathing (physical activity, especially anaerobic, is more difficult). The chronic dry mouth may lead to severe dental problems, especially if not discovered and treated early on. He will know he has it every day the rest of his life.
I'm not sure how puberty will affect his condition - obviously one holds the hope it mitigates it in Graeme Frost's situation, but I wouldn't bet on it. I could see this condition making life more difficult from the standpoint of a teen’s having an elevated degree of self-consciousness, although I have a feeling Graeme and his parents have this covered.
That is what Rush Limbaugh is mocking, but I'm sure the Frosts have been able to handle Rush's of the world so well because (1) a few Limbaugh’s and Mitch McConnell’s wanting to demonize them don’t compare to all they have already had thrown at them with the accident, and (2) they probably have more pity than anger at those who are either unable or unwilling to see beyond their own social fence and life situation.

Can't say I'm shocked. Rush mocked McCain's mild speech defect when McCain was giving Bush a run for his money in the 2000 race. I don't think he wanted to do it to a fellow Republican, but he was desperate to help Bush. I think you can smell his desperation in this case as well. (At least I hope that's what that stench is.)

It certainly fits what Rush Limbaugh did, and does on a regular basis. These reichwing propagandists are serious perverts. And so are the reichwing politicians that feed them, like Mitch McConnell.
What is difficult for the Limbaugh/ Coulter/ Malkin types is that they are furious that we might actually see the victims of their philosophical B.S. Anne is mad over the widows of 9/11. How dare they tell us that suffering is real. (Of course, I think Ann is a woman who has convinced herself that Jesus is her personal fire insurance policy and that she can ignore everything he directed us to be). Malkin - how dare we show the logical end to her rants - children will be damaged, will even die. And Rush - well if ever there is a damaged and broken man without any moral compunctions whatsoever - he fits the bill.
As a Christian - when I see Jesus on the cross - I think about all the victims of violence and neglect that have ever been and will ever be. It seems as if God is telling us - this is what it looks like when your need for control or power or religious correctness - finds its victim. It looks like a crucifixion. It's bloody and the crowd must disperse because they can't bear to see it.
What I can't figure out is how these clowns claim Christianity at all. Their philosophical base is much closer to the old Babylonian religion - where vengeance is good and victims deserve everything they get. Why aren't these people worshipping Molak. As I recall - now there's a god that demands the death of children. And all three of them fit that kind of violent and vindictive drive that the old Babylonian religion demanded from the faithful.
Of course, since he is on Armed Forces Network, he is part of the face America shows the world. Aren't we so proud? And we wonder why other countries give us the finger these days.

Several reasons, Sarah. It's embarrassing for the Dem signees, non of whom have neither matched nor contributed to the total. It raised nearly $5mm for the children of military personnel, and that doesn't fit in with the 'Rush hates children and the military' canard. We this IS America. Image definitely matters. If she was a real 'pol' her image consultants would be all over that, too, and she'd be seen doing "folksy" things, possibly in the deep south. Like picking pumpkins and posing for the camera in freshly purchased bluejeans and a $300 designer, carefully selected "poor person shirt". She would NEVER be allow to say, "daahling" (although it'd make my day -- I'd giggle. No, I can't help it.). Luckily she is still more human than robot, though. Thankfully. But she should probably hire a voice coach to dull the accent (just a little!), slow her speech and deepen her voice. She would come through MUCH better on the talk shows. I always thought she was miked poorly, but she just has a thin voice (like I do) and is easily talked over. Training can help. This would be well worth it, as she seems committed to be some sort of public figure. Oh, and it would help with the inevitable "unintentional condescension" people get from the Greek accent. First I saw her I never guess that was Greek, it reminded me of the fake (Brittish?) accent from Gilligan's Island. It still doesn't stop me from listening to what she has to say, but it probably does limit her audience overall.
Personally I find 90% of accents sexy or charming. Hers I'm neutral on. Maybe 1% annoy the piss out of me and I can't understand it. French being one (when speaking English). "bored Texas urban call-center monotone" being the other. Sorry guess that makes me a bad person, though I've been to France and am OK with the culture. But a good Welsh, Aussie, or Russian accent? Look out!
