Mike's Blog Round Up
SteveAudio here again with some tunes to begin your week:
Jesus is Just Alright With Me. . . It seems that Christianity is dead. Or maybe Right-wing Fundamentalism. Or is it the hammer lock the latter has had on the Republican Party for so many years. And by the way, aren't Christians supposed to be good stewards, instead of blowing everything up and killing people?
I remember you, you're the one that made my dreams come true. . . The current Right-wing position vis-a-vis the crop of Presidential wannabees is that they need another Reagan. Because he was so, you know, big and tough and strong and the Daddy some of them never had.
Lies, lies, I can't believe a word you say; Lies, lies, I'm gonna make you sad someday. . . Rudy Giuliani seems desperate, pathological, and mean. Traits suitable for a mob enforcer, or Blackwater mercenary, but for President? Eh, not so much.
Just runnin scared each place we go, So afraid that he might show. . . As a special Halloween treat, some tool at the RNC came up with a "Scariest Democrat" contest. Now there's a good use of html coding talent. Too bad they left the correct answer off the list.
That music you hear means we're playing our break song. If we didn't get to your favorite, we'll try tomorrow. Send any bloggy tips to steveaudio at earthlink dot net, with Blog Round Up as the title.
So long, we're here all week, and try the shrimp, it's great.

Beware, reich-wingers are mounting yet another [fake] outrage hissy fit against the "hollywood left" because the of new GI Joe movie: Paramount has confirmed that in the movie, the name G.I. Joe will become an acronym for "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity". I did a quick blog search and the reich-wingers are already blowing up on this "important issue".
"It seems that Christianity is dead. Or maybe Right-wing Fundamentalism. Or is it the hammer lock the latter has had on the Republican Party for so many years. And by the way, aren’t Christians supposed to be good stewards, instead of blowing everything up and killing people?"
I heard this when the Moral Majority crumbled, but then the Christian Coalition became stronger than the Moral Majority ever was.
I heard this when the Christian Coalition took a nose dive, but then Focus on the Family, the American Family Association and others became more powerful than the Christian Coalition ever was.
Now the military, the judiciary, and other departments have been openly Christian fundamentalizing.
Anyone really believe religious-right Christianism in government is dead?

Hows something like that morph into a Stuffed Republican Suit?
"Anyone really believe religious-right Christianism in government is dead?"
Naw, there are still Xtian Right groups out there like the Dominionists and others who are militant, are determined to create a militant corp of Xtian Right youth and who would make the US a theocracy. All the while the somewhat less extremist fundies like Haggard (persona nongrata) and Dobson still wield a lot of propaganda power through their media infrastructure.
Do we hear anything from the moderate Xtains? Not much, the atheists and some secular writers and film makers in this country seem to be the only ones pointing out the dangers of fundie extremism.
The fundie has a right to free speech and to practice their religion. We just need to watch them, and smack them on the nose with a newspaper when every they stick it in our personal lives and try to makeover this country into a Xtian version of Iran.

I used to think that republicans were misinformed, short-sighted, perhaps just plain wrong. But I was mistaken. They're just really, really stupid! The damned G.I. Joe movie isn't gonna be about the one gi joe guy from the 50's. It's a live action 80's cartoon! These are the same morons who get mad about a liberal arts college.
It just shows that you can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being.
Fundies....LOL.....Jesus would spit on them.......and they have the audacity to call themselves Christians...........now I'm not condemning all religous folks......just the ones who try to ram it down my throat and think that they know better.....just because they call themselves Christian .
hi rocketmom....
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Follow the $.
I always understood that GI Joe came from Bill Mauldin's WWII era comic strip Willy and Joe in the Stars and Stripes newspaper. At least that's why soldiers were commonly called Joe during that period.
I can't find any images online, but Willy and Joe always looked rumpled, unshaven, exhausted and cynical about their officers. Several times the brass tried to kill the strip as undermining troop morale, but soldiers's outcries always brought it back.

I think I'm going to make me a bracelet with that acronym and wear it to church on Sunday.
I just love throwing a wrench into the system.
Just this once I'll be siding with the repugs - I, too, think Hillary is the "Scariest Democrat". My reasons are just a little different..
ysbaddaden @ 14:
I don't understand Hollywood... making a movie about a para-military branch of the U.S. military that specifically attacks and disfuses terrorist activity... all of a sudden that's too much in today's world.
Hell, as long as Snake-Eyes and Stormshadow duke it out for one scene, I'm there.
Looks like the dems have their own scariest republican contest.

Lieberman isn't the scariest Democrat; he's an Independent, so he's disqualified.
Christianity is not dead it is shedding False Christians.
People like Jim Wallis are it's future.
Scariest Democrat?..hmmmmmmmmmm?The Turn coat Zell Miller?.....but for me personally it would have to be Diane Feinstein.......I've lost all faith in her...time for her to go!
but even she doesn't come close to all the repub candidates...
I just want to throw out a big "Nice!" for quoting a Knickerbockers song.
