Warning: this video has graphic war images.
Congratulations (and awe) to my pal Prime63, whose video above, "What I stand for in 30 seconds," was selected to be a top-ten finalist in the Lions for Lambs YouTube video contest.

Can anyone remember the name of the guy Jon Stewart interviewed and shut down with an argument comparing and contrasting lives "saved" due to anti-abortion attitudes VS. lives not saved due to war mentalities? It was something about promoting war, but being pro-life being contradictory. It was 1-2 years ago. I have been looking through a guest list and on the daily show's new video repository, but its a daunting task. Anyone?
That's a great video ...

If you believe in the message of this video, then there is only one candidate for you. His motto is "Strength through peace". He not only talks the talk, he walks the walk.
Elect Dennis Kucinich 08 - The only candidate that truly believes in peace.
Bush continues his crony love by honoring Henry Hide with a Medal of Freedom and protecting Blackwater. Why can Egypt have nuclear power, and not Iran? If we elect Hillary, we'll be no better than Argentina.
Holy shit from Blumenthal. Huckabee is an asshat. When I watch Janet Folger from "faith2action" I remember why I strongly support post-natal (like 40 years later) abortions.
George leaves 1 in 10 American schools behind.
Our medical students aren't being taught about the Geneva Code of health. The lead-filled toys keep on coming.
Way to go, TPM!
Look at this, I how corrupt can this government be?

Hey, who else is on here as fiver?
Bush Crime Family Home Videos.
I guess I have to go as fiver2! Do you not want some tool out there impersonating you with lame requests? ;)
Hey guys look what i just heard !
http://wor.ldne.ws/node/8596
"Rumsfeld flees France fearing arrest" ! Hurray !!
fiver2 @ 12:
Hardly a lame request. I'm not sure but I remember Jon playing a W clip after his stem cell veto with W saying that the veto reflected his view on the importance of life. Jon then played a W clip with Bush responding to a question about how many were killed in the Iraq war by saying something like "Oh, I don't know 30 or 40 thousand."
I also remember an opening comment Jon made about the "Snowflake Babies" each being unique... and white.
Is that close?

This is the best news I've heard in a long long time. Justice on the trail of the criminal.
Immunity, it's not just for telecoms anymore.
Blackwater guards granted "use immunity."
Immunity Deal Hampers Blackwater Inquiry
Isn't that special...
fiver @ 14:
It's an actual interview I am looking for, not just commentary on Bush. But I do remember those quotes. I'll have to check and see if they were related...

I finally got around to watching 30 Rock this season. The internet's great, the episodes I missed are on the NBC website. I guess I watched 4 or 5 episodes tonight. And it's still great!!!! I think I even noticed a couple of synchronicities to the Stephanie Miller show. ( goldwatermiller08.com )
But it kind've makes me miss Studio 60 (on the Sunset Strip) ... (and West Wing, of course)
How come a sensible message like this can be conveyed in 30 seconds - but nothing sensible has come out of George W Bush's mouth in his lifetime???
War is wrong - and when will these morons in power realise it???
I found what I was looking for here: Ramesh Ponnuru
Japan is leaving
Afghanistan.
I liked it
heh...
fiver2 @ 23:
Wow! Good find. I remembered that interview after seeing it again, but I couldn't have come up with that name if the Vice-President's life depended on it.
fiver @ 26:
I kept thinking it was D'souza. Ignorant me! Enjoy the clips, they are CLASSICS!
I bet cheney and shrub will not be attending any meetings in europe for a while!?!
Great video, nice work prime63.
fiver @ 26:
Thanks a lot. I had almost succeeded in expunging my mind of all memories of that vacuous whiny bitch. Almost as difficult as getting that Lee Greenwood propaganda song out of your head. Now it's going to take another two years to get back to that happy place. BTW, and I say this with all sincerity, Ramesh Ponnuru is a prime argument in favor of abortion on demand. If I would have known his mother was pregnant with him, I would have demanded one on the spot.
New form of government
:)
littlehorn @ 13:
Yes and noticed how awash the replies are with the typical American replies ...... looks like some there just want to dig an even deeper hole for the country and its people to slide into.
If voters could go back in time to when inspectors were finishing up in Iraq, and mere days away from advising the UN Security Council that Iraq had no WMDs, how many would do so and tell the Chickenhawk in Chief to keep his Codpiece in his pants?
We could have resolved Iraq's democratic situation multilaterally and peacefully, and shepherded the nation into the fold of secular, constitutional democracies had the war horny idiots not literally bombed the inspectors out of Iraq. As Hans Blitz said of the administration's loudest war pornographers -- Bush, Cheney, Condi, Rummy et al -- and the Iraq war hype, (paraphrasing) they can't be 100% sure there are WMDs and 0% sure of where they are. (Remember, Rummy said he knew, but couldn't show the double dip top secret intel with an extra cherry on top, that the WMDs were in Baghdad, in Tikrit, over here, over there, everywhere .... ).
Well if they don't want a replay happening in Iran, they best heed al Baradei's appearances last week and on the weekend declaring that Iran wasn't an immediate nuclear threat. I know we don't have the troops to go in, but my fear is that since the Republicult has nothing to run on, they'll cynically use this to drum up fear and votes in an election year precisely BECAUSE they have sweet fuck all.

Take 2:
Blackwater men 'given immunity'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7068600.stm
I was thinking today, even though Gonzales is gone, shouldn't the American Bar Association still be looking at disbarring him? Ought of sight, doesn't mean inactive.
Edwin @ 36:
I think that would be the State Bar in Texas; I'm not holding by breath.
The first half of it should have been titled "your tax dollars at work or how Dick Cheney makes money off you."
As for Blackwater, it's Erik Prince who needs to be investigated. Sure, the thugs are guilty too.
Accoording to Rumfeld's vision, Blackwater is how the future of war looks. You give out a no-bid, contract, grant all the mercenaries immunity, let them go kill civilians and rape as much as they want, then when the citizens protest, suddenly nobody knows anything and nobody can be held responsible.
Hey, world, how do you like the new America?
That was great! Nice work!
This bothers me: I was watching "Hardball" with Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan last night, and they kept referring to "the upcoming war with Iran" over and over. Is this the MSM selling it to us? I find it repugnant that it is being treated as a foregone conclusion.

Net Neutrality refers to a principle or a set of principles that would prevent Internet service providers from blocking or degrading certain kinds of traffic on their networks. The idea is that a large company like AT&T or Verizon could block or slow down IP packets carrying information that is being sent or received from a particular Web site or service. Recently cable operator Comcast has been accused of blocking BitTorrent traffic, but the company denies this.

Karma, Rummy... Ain't it a bitch!
BTW:
When these politicians started using the term “Islamofascism”, I thought that they were just joking. Nope, I looked, it’s no joke, they were deadly serious. Then, I thought that perhaps they were just uneducated, had not gone to college or had not read enough to have prevented such a faux paux of mixing these mutually exclusive terms.
Then it dawned on me that perhaps the Bhurka Manufacturing Industry (BMI), or perhaps the Association of Iranian Camel Jockeys (AICJ) or the United Rug Weavers ( Axis of Evil chapter) (URWAE) had grown to such strength that it has lobbied and taken over the world of Islam, fomenting the world wide spread of the Koran. Nope couldn’t find anything there, either. All I could find in my research was just your plain old, garden variety religious tyranny.
So, what was I left with?
A. Just plain Stupidity?
Or:
B. A glaring, serious Lack of Integrity?
I think it would very dangerous to assume A, for they may be many things, but, stupid is not one of them.
Which left me with B. Thank God, that was an easy one to verify. I just went over to Fox News and checked out Bill O and Sean and guess what?
Mission accomplished.

Clinton Rapid Response Team In Mid-Season Form
And congratulations, Mark...just remember those of us who knew you when! :-)
Chris Dodd came out yesterday and said he would oppose the nomination of Michael Mukasey for AG. In response to Mukasey's "theory" that the President could stand above Constitutional statutes he replied " This is about as basic as it gets. You must obey the law. Everyone must."
The good news is that this stand influenced others such as Joe Biden, John Edwards, and Bill Richardson to go public with their opposition also. Hopefully, Dodd's stand will convice even more that this jerk is little more than a Bushco syncophant with no respect for the rule of law, except as they determine it to be.
More info on Huffpo if you care to check it out. Way to go Sen. Dodd!
Dodd is a man of integrity. I wish he'd start getting some "traction" in the race for the nomination!
The measurement of what makes a country great....
....needs to be revisited.
If our former ally Saddam was brought to justice for the deaths of 49 Iraqis, I don't understand why Bush, Cheney, Republicans and Democrats in Congress, the Military Brass, and the Corporate State Controlled "News" Media should not be brought to the same justice? Anyone? Anyone?
