Via The Columbian:

State Rep. Richard Curtis, R-La Center, admitted to having sex with a man he met at an adult video store in Spokane last week, according to a police report released Tuesday afternoon.

The police report offers a far different version of events from the brief account Curtis gave Monday to The Columbian, one that seems likely to threaten Curtis' political future.

The police report contains an account of how Curtis allegedly donned women's clothing, red stockings and a black sequined lingerie top before engaging in a sex act at the store. He then continued to wear them throughout the night under his clothing, the report says. Read more...

I couldn't care less about a person's sexual preferences, but as Howie puts it, Curtis is a hypocrite of the highest order. Staying true to form, Washington Republicans have thrown him under the bus and he has resigned. You think he was a Rudy Giuliani supporter?

Thank gawd these moral values paragons are impeding my access to contraception and other goods and services related to sexuality and reproductive health.

That's a boatload of stuff which keeps them from getting into even more trouble. (Imagine if they didn't have that! They'd be sucking their way through polite society like out of control Roombas, hurling themselves at unsuspecting baskets and stuffing innocent shirt pockets with twenties and fifties when done.)

A wide stance on moral values is better than none at all when conducted from a toilet stall.

I wonder if people are finally figuring out how the Republicans operate. I mean, its pretty simple. If they tell the public they are straight, behind the scenes they are actually gay. If they say they will uphold the law, behind the scenes they are stealing and killing. If they say they they are putting forth legislation to protect the children from predators you can bet, behind the scenes they are the child predators. If they act or say they are strong on defense, you can bet that they were draft dodgers.

Damn, that was fast! The Washington State Legislature web site has already removed all information about Curtis less than 24 hours after his resignation: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/Results.aspx?District=18. Notice there is no listing for Representative Position #1. Now that's efficient government -- by Democrats who control every branch of the government in Washington State.

Curtis is truly a sad case and has no one to blame but himself. Both for living for years as a closeted hypocrite, then for the astoundingly stupid notion that he could make a detailed report to the police of fairly kinky and possibly illegal activity (paying a prostitute for sex), and think that it would NOT GET INTO THE NEWS! Not to mention wanting to have unprotected sex with a prostitute he picked up at an adult book store. Anyway... at this point I think the American Psychiatric Association should seriously consider including Conservative Republican Homophobe as a paraphilia (fetish) in the next edition of the the DSM.

I just hope his soon-to-be ex-wife tests negative for HIV and other STDs. Even if she knew about his secret life, she doesn't deserve to be put at risk like that.

Backwoods's picture

This is some sick shit. Don't mean to offend anyone here but I guess I'm a homophobe if homophobia is the other side of the coin with heterosexuality. My credentials: I did not grow marijuana (as I'd planned) for a living because I did not want to go to jail and end up becoming someone's "bitch" for ten years (I got internal hemorrhoids and I hate pain). I was slightly offended when a fellow worker I was introduced to, tickled my palm with his pinky as we shook hands, signaling to me that he was curious about the possibility that I might be gay. I squirmed endlessly watching "Kiss of the Spiderwoman". I worried that my son was gay, (he wasn't). You get the point. Truth is, I say live and let live, just don't try to kiss me mister.
But this is a major cognitive disconnect. Republicans= real men. Democrats=pussies. Yea, we exist in a patriarchy and I hate it but that's the meme. Men can't run shit with the system they have imposed on the human world for the last umpteen thousand years. But I doubt that the feminine would produce a better plan. But all these Republican men are fucking and sucking each other and there seems to be no end to it. what's going on? They don't go to war but they start em. Can you believe this same bunch censured Barney Frank for his homosexuality? And I think he is one tough hombre and am thankful for the people in his district who are enlightened enough to keep him in place. I just read an article in the Nation about Albert Shanker and about how if the left were less like pussies and more tough like Shanker, we lefties would still be in power. I don't know what to make of that. You got to be tough to make it in the world of lefties? More Demos fought in the wars and while they were doing that, the repugs were presumably discovering their "feminine side". and how to get a quickie by tapping your toe and extending your hand in a public bathroom.

Logan: Please stop using 'sexual preference' , that is a phrase invented by the right wing religionists to describe homosexual people and it implies that one has decided to be a gay person because that gay person PREFERS same sex encounters to hetero sex encounters and that such persons exercised a choice and decided to be gay. The correct non-judgmental term is 'sexual orientation.' Thanks.

It has become more and more obvious to me why the Republican party went after Clinton with so much wrath. He got his from the wrong gender.

And agree with JohnMichael @104. The people I know who are gay have never made any choice about their sexual orientation other than to make it public.

Blazing the trail for Larry??? The only thing more delusional than these closeted repubs who get caught with some dick in some orifice after villifying those of the same pursuasion are the log cabin types who aren't in the closet but still back the repub ticket come hell or high water... Why would I call them delusional if they don't hide their sexuality??? They are delusional if they EVER think the mainstream republicans in their so-called big tent mostly filled with various types of greed/power mongers and bigots will ever accept them as anything other than a money spigot....Otherwise they'll always be an embarassing doorstop to the real players in that sickass party.....And if that ain't a prime example of delusion, I don't know what is.....JD

here's an article of a contraversial study of 'tearoom sex'...

http://web.missouri.edu/~bondesonw/Laud.html

from the article:
"Humphreys' findings destroy many stereotypes. Fifty-four percent of his subjects were married and living with their wives, and superficial analysis would suggest that they were exemplary citizens who had exemplary marriages. Thirty-eight percent of Humphreys' subjects clearly were neither bisexual nor homosexual. They were men whose marriages were marked with tension; most of the 38 percent were Catholic or their wives were, and since the birth of their last child conjugal relations had been rare. Their alternative source of sex had to be quick, inexpensive, and impersonal. It could not entail any kind of involvement that would threaten their already shaky marriage and jeopardize their most important asset - their standing as father of their children. They wanted only some form of orgasm-producing action that was less lonely than masturbation and less involving than a love relationship. Of the other 62 percent of Humphreys' subjects, 24 percent were clearly bisexual, happily married, well educated, economically quite successful, and exemplary members of their community. Another 24 percent were single and were covert homosexuals. Only 14 percent of Humphreys' subjects corresponded to society's stereotype of homosexuality. That is, only 14 percent were members of the gay community and were interested in primarily homosexual relationships"

It's not just the many leaders of the Republican party in the closet I guarantee you many constituents are cut from the same cloth.
Clergy, educators, construction workers and Republicans of all shapes and sizes.
Quit being surprised.

It's the hypocrisy that keeps us all yapping about it.

Aren't there any heterosexual republicans? You would think there would be one or two out there somewhere?
Maybe thats why they are all against abortion - "nothing to worry about," since gay men can't reproduce together.

I'm not gay. I have never been gay.
But my penis is.

I've spanked it...
I've had my Priest lay his hands on it for healing...
I've coerced it to like women by dawning lingerie...
And by the time this young man got me to the hotel, my penis convinced my butt to go anlong with it...
It's a conspiracy, I tell ya...

Say it with me, people: "Republicans--nothing but a bunch of [deleted]!"

Mean Ol' Liberal's picture

One has to wonder what it is about the image sold by the GOP that attracts so many of these closeted clowns.

We all know the easy answers about how they preach against the "evils" of homosexuality, so that it looks all so nice and cozy for the closet dwellers. But then you think of the Log Cabins who SWEAR that they will change this party from the inside.

"Macho"? Is that the attraction? Cowboy foreign policy? "Pull yourself up by the (public money) bootstraps"? Militarism and fascist "tiers" of society? Being "better" people by birth?

There's gotta be more than just the God Hates F*gs thing that's pullin' them in like this.

Another "wide stance" Republican.

I am beginning to think that most male Republicans are in the "closet." There is about one revelation a week.
