Digg Bans Brave New Films

YouTube requires an age check to access this video...but all of it was aired on FOX News.
Apparently, after discussion with the Digg editors, Brave New Films was reinstated after promising not to post inappropriate content from FOX News again. (There's just too many jokes to make there) And in a circular bit of logic, a Digg posting by Brave New Films on the banning is now getting Diggs.
But here's where you have to tighten that tin foil just a bit: in a convenient bit of timing, Digg has recently entered into a partnership with FOX parent company News Corp to offer WSJ content. And News Corp has been wooing Digg for the last year to outright acquire the site. Coincidence?

I've been done with Digg for a long time now. I even refuse to click on "digg this" links. 90% of the time I go to Digg, I digg down every comment I see.
It's just the worst. It's not the formula, it's the audience - infantile, uninformed, and witless. I can take any two of those but put all three together and there's pretty much nothing to do except flame people. And their new threaded mode doesn't even make that rewarding enough to bother.

Interesting hypothesis. But when analysing the human psyche, I come to the conclusion that it's a hell of a lot harder (no pun intended) to turn humanity OFF of porn than to turn them ON to Faux News.
And I most certainly doubt that Murdock has ever done anything altruistic in his entire, overlong existance.

I failed to see the irony. Does Nicole know what the word means? An example of irony would be submitted an article implying that the site digg is bad (censorship, selling its soul to fox, etc.) underneath a 'digg this' tag.
Then there's the whole "circular bit of logic" comment... is she just not finishing her sentences and thoughts? Are the regular readers able to fill in all the unspoken thoughts that would make this post make sense?

I just want to be clear to all my fellow moonbats out there that I think Clinton would make a good President however not as good as Kucinich, Biden, Dodd, Richardson or even Gravel, Edwards or Obama. She would make a better President than anyone we've had since JFK or Carter, she'd be far better than her husband and he was not bad compared to Reagan or Bush. Yet Kucinich would be so much better.
Problem is she will lose to Guiliani (far worse than Bush, yet probably the least toxic of the bunch, Ron Paul excepted of course) and none of the others except perhaps Gravel will lose to Guiliani. We have an opportunity here in America to have someone like Kucinich who will beat Guiliani if given a chance and who will make America great again.
Clinton has a lot of skeletons in her closet that will come out after the primaries that will make her lose to Guiliani, unfortunately the sheeple, i.e., mainstream America, don't care about Republican wrong doing, lack of character or integrity, they expect and accept that, remember they're sheeple, however the sheeple expect the Dems to be squeaky clean and competent so we need to give them someone squeaky clean and competent like Kucinich, Biden, Richardson or Dobbs to win.

My WW2 generation father, who died three years ago, insisted that Fox was the only network worth watching. He convinced many family members of this. Here's the weird(er) part: He thought Playboy Magazine was disgustingly pornographic, and used it as an example to illustrate how he thought our societal character was being morally destroyed by liberals.
I'm no prude, but those shots should NOT be on TV. I have a 12-year old daughter, and it is SO DIFFICULT to teach her appropriate ways to behave in public when imagery like this is flashing before our children's eyes. We don't watch TV at all in my home, but it doesn't seem to matter, as these images are influencing so much around us, that it influences even those children who come from families who limit exposure to these ideas/values/images.
i think i get it. they have some amazing marketeers on the conservative side. how do you appeal to middle america, kiss, keep it simple stupid. sound bites filled with fight them there so ...yadda yadda yadda. or remember 911 and what they did to us, and wmd's and sadam needed to fall. freedom for Iraq. that's how you appeal to middle america. dummy it up. above all don't make them have to think.
now for fox, what sells, sex sells. we all know that. advertisers sure know that. it permeates every market in one form or another. it's just that fox recognizes it and has giving the marching orders to its troops, "if you want to continue working here at Fox, find a way to inject sex into your broadcast." and like good little soldiers, they follow orders. it's easy for those with no moral fiber.

Are you implying that when kids are exposed to these images that your job as a parent becomes more difficult and therefore these images have no place on TV?
I mean, your daughter is going to grow up and see the world on her own eventually. Why not prepare her for what's out there instead of shielding her from it? It's the same thing with drugs and violence. Why are people so afraid of being exposed to it? I mean, if your convictions are so strong and you have a strong belief system and good character, should you really be afraid of the impact said exposure could have on you and your behavior?
Also, look at middle America and the teen pregnancy rates. They're sky rocketing compared to other countries where "sex" is discussed out in the open and nudity isn't taboo like it is in the U.S.. It's definitely something to think about.
There's an old saw about the difference between progressives and conservatives. Progressives read banned materials in the privacy of their own homes. Conservatives form censorship committees, and read them as a group.
Am I crazy by thinking that this isn't really that big a deal? I mean "sex sells" and conservatives might be some of the most sexually confused folk in the country. I mean, from a marketing stand point, this is brilliant; and it plays right into the demographic's hands... explicitly showing soft porn while condemning it at the same time. Conservatives hate sex but still have some of the most screwed up sex scandals.
Gee, you'd think with all the Foleys, Craigs, Haggerts, etc., there would be more eye candy for guys like me on that channel.
This whole incident is very funny.
But let's not get out of hand about why Fox News shows material meant to sexually manipulate viewers--this is the same exact practice that much of cable engages in, and because cable does not use the public airwaves and is regulated at the local level there is no censorship (or "content standards" or whatever) whatsoever in effect. They can show anything they want on cable TV.
And the fact that Digg is censoring? Well given their track record of censorship I have a hard time finding this very surprising.
Digg is a lawyer-dominated propaganda factory.
I wasn't surprised when I noticed that Crooks and Liars has a "Digg This" button on every post. :)

Those images, which you apparently think are a good idea for our kids to grow up with, and not just view by choice as adults as a way for advertisers to promote their products to large numbers of potential buyers, do not provide any meaningful information about sex. They are clearly intended to sexually excite viewers. Are you implying, Cheney, that it's a good idea for our society to be constantly bombarded with sexually exciting images on TV? And that by doing so, our citizens will become more informed about sex, sex will be more out in the open, according to you, and our teen pregnancy rate will drop? Think about it. Your right to view sexually exciting images throughout the day and night on our airwaves should not be treated as if it's providing you with any meaningful information about sex. Now take that information and integrate it into your thinking about whether or not it's a good idea for our children to be viewing sexually exciting images on TV, which is what I was addressing.
