Thanks Josh Marshall!

Dang, I didn't get a link...hehe...Josh has always been very kind to me...He posted this about C&L back on 11/09/05:

One of the most inspiring things about the blog phenomenon is the sheer multiplicity of different forms created within the basic genre -- even within the relatively small niche of blogs devoted to politics. You've got a site like CrooksandLiars.com, for instance, which in addition to a lot of conventional text blogging, provides this amazing service of hosting more or less instantly available video snippets of most all the happenings on the day's political news shows that people on the web are talking about.

With the hustle and bustle of a normal day of blogging---I don't remember if I ever thanked him...Notice how many sites are doing what we are? It's kind of rewarding to see...

Yeah, when I saw that post up at TPM the other day at first I thought Josh was giving C&L a shout out.

Of course you're doing a great job, John. Your site is invaluable.

Oh, pulllleeeeeez! Regardless of what other sites might be trying to do, nobody, but NOBODY, does what you all do. Nobody. (and, thank you, BTW...)

And what Udon said... ;)

C&L is the BEST source for political media clips on the internets. Bar none. Your site rocks, John.

You and Norm Jenson at onegoodmove were the pioneers, as i recall. Anthropologists will someday blame both of you for killing off the written word, turning us all into functional illiterates and mindless zombies that subsist on YouTubes and RealMedia and Quicktime.

When we're all bowing to our Cockroach Kings and getting our nourishment from radio-transmitted tofu electrons, I'll be back to thank you for ending our former diets of Twinkies and Mountain Dew, John.

i should continue with a fresh Ginsbergian Howl, but I can't, as these are all the words I can remember.

I visit 8 sites, each normal day. This is either the first, or second one I go to. I mainly go here to learn about the key events, and get caught up on the news. The other main site is where I engage in discussions. I do not seem to have much luck getting established here. The other sites have a narrower focus and perspective (although they are exceptional within their area of focus). Regardless, this is where I come for my news, and I greatly appreciate the fine job the contributors do.

Kev, that was harsh, but I'm still laughing.

"…Notice how many sites are doing what we are?"

Other sites do this? I hadn't noticed.

I prefer this site to the raw, uncivilized youtubes. Besides, nobody twists the knife like C & L does.

There are only 3 web sites which I visit faithfully, every day, several times a day: TPM, C&L, and BBC.

When time is precious, you've got to utilize your resources wisely. :)

i thank the gods everyday for c&l.... even though i am an agnostic ;-)

C&L and TPM have helped me keep my sanity (more or less) over the last few years. Blessings.

Somebody had to say it. John and Norm set the bar so high on excellence that they forced us to blog smarter and damn, I hate having to leave my easychair. Even John's talented team makes some of us look like postal room clerks. But more enlightened and better entertained clerks, I have to admit.

Yeah I tell everyone that I suspect might be liberal about your site. C&L and Dkos are my first visited sites when I get on my computer(roll out of bed and into my luxury desk chair).

And TPM is always doing the best muckraking, I suspect Josh will dig up something that gets someone impeached someday.

Productconsumer's picture

oh and I just noticed you are getting 139,000 visits a day!... I am pumped when I get 200 a day. Do you ever think about getting a smooth sleek new Wordpress theme, and hitting the bigtime like Huffington?

bilhelm-X's picture

C&L is oxygen, otherwise I might have to kill people.

Back in the late 90s I used to get my news from CNN. Now I get my news from C&L.

John its true, your site is an invaluable resource for me. The site attracts a lot of folks with their heads screwed on properly. The bloggers here are consistently friendly and informative. Keep up the great work!

Yep, I agree with the previous posts... this site is definitely my number 1 go-to blog, where the important information of the day is exposed to light and sentient beings' rationale. Thanks for all the good you do in the Universe. Keep it up!

AMERICAblog takes my #1, but C&L is right up there with DU as well. Used to check CNN, but they suck. NYT is alright.

I have a daily routine of going to C&L,TPM,and Kos; sometimes Michael Moore,Democracy Now and Digby and Firedog.By the end of that time,I`m usually so pissed off or fried that I have to go on an hour walk while listening to okd Zappa albums on my CD player. Many times I`ll run across some deer which brings me back to temperate. Then 8`m ready for tomorrow.
Thanks John

I'm preferential to ThinkProgress, but I love C&L and TPM too!
