Rudy Giuliani has a firefighter problem. Following up on earlier criticism, a group of 9/11 family members and firefighters met on Monday at Dartmouth College to launch a campaign against the former New York City mayor and current Republican presidential candidate for what they deem to be massive failures before, during and after the attacks of 9/11.
But at least one member of the FDNY continues to offer his support to the former mayor -- and may be getting paid for it.
John R. Orlando, who serves with Engine 216 in Brooklyn, New York, has been cited prominently as a Giuliani supporter. Last June, in a New York Times article detailing the mixed reviews Giuliani has among the city's 11,000-membered firefighting force, Orlando said he regularly saw Giuliani at fires despite suggestions otherwise. I used to think Rudy was like Bush-Light. But now I realize that I was wrong. Rudy is like Bush on STEROIDS> (e.g. Bomb Iran retoric). What a shmuck for such transparent pandering with the very folks who do there jobs and don't ask for glamour and glory (e.g. firefighters).
Rudy is not ready for the primetime of the Presidency and he's hoping to hoodwink enough of the populace into thinking he is. Yes, merely look at the cynical election strategy his campaign has put forth: essentially dismissing Iowa and New Hampshire (frontrunner states) and placing more emphasis on larger states (CA, NY, FL) that have later primaries. Sorry, Rudy, if you were really electable (and cared for that matter) you'd campaign seriously in every state holding a primary in hopes of winning it. You want to 'slide' into the nomination, and the presidency, by a backdoor method. Clearly you want to represent some of the people, and not all of the people. Sounds like W: a divider and not a uniter, non-pareil. We don't need more of the same (and worse) such as you Rudy. W has done enough to this country. Time for a change and it's not a Republican.
Pay for praise - yes, sounds like a Rudy move. What else does the asshole have to run on besides one bad September day? But even that is imploding on him, so he needs to take drastic measures.
Why not pay a firefighter to praise him, he pays his wife to f*ck him. (It's just a habit, from before they were married).

Rudy's lead is volatile to say the least. But the pack behind him is such a bunch of losers. Rudy might still win the GOP nomination because there is no one else who is better and willing to run.
One thing is cetain - Rudy's 9/11 mistakes and the Kerik story are not going to go away.

Having lived in New York City through the entire Rudy reign, two things happened. Those with little hope gained none, and those with money did very well. Sounds similar to the man he lusts to be GW Bush. Crime was worse under Rudy. as for fire fighters... I live in Brooklyn, in Red Hook. Our firefighters where some of the first on the scene, and most died that day. Mr Orlando should remember Daniel Suhr, from his engine company who died on that day.
Rudy is a coward. He empowers those that would trample him, he beats down the little man to make himself seem bigger, and he is a pathological liar. not a great combo for the so called leader of the free world.
I hope the Fire fighters keep up the heat (pun intended) lets keep Rotten Rudy and his mob friends out of the White House.

No wonder he did not protect Americans before 9-11.

Rudy is such a sore in the sides of NYC Firefighters that he DOES have to PAY one so he can get some praise.
This guy, who is on Rudy's payroll, will be pranced out at every chance to exonerate the "worlds" mayor.

Rudy can't get through a sentence without 9/11 in it. That is SAD. When someone has to use a tragedy to promote himself, that's pathetic.
Rudy did nothing heroic on those days. The only thing he did was remain calm. He did not calm the city. It was the citizens of the city that did that. I know, I was there. We comforted each other. He said nothing to us that help us as a whole. Rudy was in it for himself. And now he is using this tragedy as a stepping stone. He should be ashamed. But like all republicans he doesn't have that trait within him.
Speak out, heroes of 9/11. Don't let your voices be squelched by a MOUSE.
