Christopher Dodd Asks GOP YouTube Debate Question
By bluegal Sunday Nov 25, 2007 8:01pmFinally, a presidential candidate has seized the opportunity presented by the CNN/YouTube debates and posted a question of his colleagues. Remember when techPresident blogger David All urged his Republican colleagues to inject a question into the Democratic debate? Well, it looks like the creative minds at Chris Dodd's campaign--which has already distinguished itself with a string of web innovations--were paying attention.

um, er.... hmmm.... 9-11! 9-11! 9-11!
That's just outstanding - and I love how he phrases it. There's no snark or cynicism; just an honest question. One I bet the bedwetters on the right don't have the guts to answer.
So did this question get on the air and if so, is there a clip of the response ?
I'd like to see the responses if the question was even brought up.
very good
I am consistently impressed by Chris Dodd. It's a shame that he's a third tier candidate.
It's salient and to the point... solid, non partisan... put it in the debate and watch heads explode. Good times for the whole family.
Here's a web innovation for you
My Friends, my brothers & sisters, I implore you…..
Check out this YouTube link:

If this doesn’t scare the living crap out of you then
nothing will.
Pass this around to ALL you know while there is still
time left to act.

Good question, but they'll never ask it.
Chris Dodd has the integrity to be our next President... from standing up against the FISA bill to being mindfully aware of the abuses that the Nazi's took with civil liberties through his father's work at the Nuremburg trials. Mr. Dodd brings some valuable tools to this race. I wish him well.
This is a great idea. It could actually bring back the debate tradition of candidates staking out their positions and actually answering the questions of the other candidates. Digital Lincoln/Douglas.
Praise Dodd!
so far all the debates both Democrats and repugs have not been debates,
just pissing matches.
when are we going to have real debates with the candidates answering the
questions with what they will do and NOT with petulant childish rants against their opponents?
v 4 vendetta @ 8
wow! your right....just changed my shorts . knew it was coming but not the manner and how close we are. "the sheep look up" is here and now
dadams @ 12:
Not in my lifetime.
Dodd just scored points......why is he the only one so far to do this?
Assuming they put this question is even put up to the GOoPers, who wants to take bets on all but Ron Paul spending their response time talking about how much of an America-hating liberal Dodd is than answering anything substantive thing he asked?
As for presidential debates, perhaps the last real one was held in the 1960 race.
brobob @ 13:
Dear illogical nutballs (I'll assume there are actually two of you, not one pretending that he has a friend),
If Canada and Mexico would like to share in our monsterous trade and budget deficits, not to mention inject their much saner (their peasants are at least smart enough not to vote against their own self interest.....and a Canadian "right winger" is about like our Democrats) selves into our electoral processes further diluting the effects of brainwashed fundie zombies and terrified of brown people pants pissers, I say Viva la star spangled O Canada.
If you would like to psycho-obsess over an ACTUAL threat to US sovereignty, take a look at China, who is currently able to affect our behavior with (fortunately to this point hollow) threats to collapse our currency, and is in the process of buying up MASSIVE numbers of our businesses and other assets at a discount....they gave us low priced consumer goods, and they are getting back income producing assets

mudshark @ 15:
The politicians think youtube and the people who use it are dumb.
L.A. Confidential @ 18:
Jesus....Seems like that'd be right up their alley!
But seriously, I think YouTube is just too damned democratic fer the rest of 'em. Maybe not Kucinich, but, ya know, all the rest of 'em, Dem and GOP.
L.A. Confidential @ 18:
You need to be in "The Club" to be taken seriously by these politicians.
In the top 1%.
Thank you Senator Dodd!
Andy K @ 19:
Presidents still sign and push paper across the desk of the oval office. Real high tech stuff. I've yet to see a picture of Bush digitally signing a bill on the oval office desktop. With the "buds" leaning over his shoulder smiling.
"... five, six, seven"
Counting the seconds until Dodd is condemned as a traitorous terrorist sympathizer by one of the lunatic fringe.
*cough* Malkin *cough* Coulter *cough* Limbaugh
Damn, picked up something nasty over Thanksgiving.
*cough*
that's what we need, the entire Democartic Party asking questions for the GOP YouTube Debates and the entire GOP party asking questions for the DNC Debates. this way America can see once and for all who stands for what. the substance of the questions will be more telling then the bullshit answer either side can give!
Anonymouse @ 23:
You should have that treated right away...Limbaughngitis can be very hazardous to your well being and peace of mind
Dahgrostab'ph-r-i @ 25:
yes my uncle got crabs from listening to him
brobob @ 13:
if you think for one minute that the republicans would put up with this .....just go to a repug blog and check out their stance on immigration...illegal or LEGAL.
Everybody has to write CNN and request they out it on. CNN will not play it unless it's ratings boost or a money-maker.
CNN's default will be to ignore it because its politically controversial (which in itself is an indicator of how badly it is needed to be answered by the candidates).
We have unfortunately arrived at the point in the US of A where it is considered "lunatic fringe" to just do what the Constitution says. It was along hard, ugly, fall to get here, but here we are.
The only way to get the no-balls girlie-men at CNN to play it is to twist their arms and dangle the ratings carrot in front them, at the same time. The lack of cajones at CNN is legendary.
Because CNN is NOT predisposed to do the right thing.
mudshark @ 27:
See my preceding comments to the irrational nutbags.
One little plus to when the Chinese take over by the way........they shoot corrupt traitorous scumbags, so that should finish eradicating the GOP.

Goes right to the heart of my belief that the candidates should be asking the candidates questions; not the pundits.
too bad Dodd is running for pres this cycle. Any other cycle, he'd be a sure winner. Competition this time around is very stiff.
yogi-one @ 28:
I was with you until you mentioned "girlie men." The phrase reminds me of a commercial for Sean Hannity. Yuck. Try using a phrase that isn't as sexist.
V 4 Vendetta
Holly bejesus! Nightmares tonight.
Sometimes i think they should drop the charade, tell us who the next President is and save everyone a lot of time and money.
"What will you do to protect the Constitution?"--Chris Dodd
"We must ask our Fuhrer."--republican candidates
I think Edwards/Dodd would be unstoppab- wait, the floating news-heads on TV are talking about the color of Hillary's blouse! ZOMG!
Bill Norton @ 6:
I didn't know Dodd initially. But after the campaign started he distinguished himself from his colleagues. Man has some originality and thinks differently than other stereotypes. He should be watched. He can pull an upset.
Vitam Vas @ 17:
I believe they also bought a lot of the housing loans that are failing. They are literally buying the country.....
Dodd would/could make a very good Prez......I'm disenfranchised with Clinton,Obama is ok...Edwards is still ok..Dodd's is looking better all the time....Richardson is well...eh..Dennis Kucinich...is looking better every day...he hasn't lost any ground....Biden....he could/would make a very good Prez...no Hillary please!
It took me a while to choose a candidate, but about a month ago I chose Chris Dodd and, damn, I keep getting proof it was the right choice. Time for me to pony up some more dollars, and I don't care if he's a third tier candidate, I'm still hoping the others will implode, heh.
Either we save our Constitution, or we lose everything.
mudshark @ 39:
Hype-Jersey @ 31:
Pretty close with this. Hillary is my last choice as far as Dems go. Still lightyears ahead of any Repug though.
Biden however... I'm not impressed with him. He's pretty close to Hillary on my list.
Dodd and Kucinich both have big support from me, with Edwards and Obama below them.
Straight Shooter @ 40:
Never quit fighting. That's one thing we have to do - no matter what they tell us is "impossible" - we have to fight to the bitter end, because its damn well worth it.
My audio is down, what was his question?
Dodd Bless America
Bill Norton @ 6:
Actually, he doesn't HAVE to be. The more I see and hear him, the more I like him. Maybe if the media decided for us that he was first tier...
I think it's a great idea here that Dodd made that video here and that he might get to ask the Republicans a question here.
(I love Dodd, but could someone please get him to stop it with that "here" tick he has?)
YouTube would be the ideal forum, the perfect place to use as the center for all the presidential 'debates'.
But they should be formatted more along the lines of a 'Miss Universe' pageant.
You know, how they look in evening clothes, how they look in bathing suits, whether they can string a coherent sentence together, what they want to be when they grow up, how are they going to create world peace?
And, for a finale, they could strip bare-ass naked.
A little truth in the 'debates' couldn't hurt.
.
Dear Senator Dodd,
GREAT QUESTION!
How would you answer it, Senator?
What would YOU do?
What ARE you doing?
Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, ...
Or better yet, more promises for tomorrow?
Find me a person who promises to do things, tomorrow, and I'll show you a someone who can not keep their promise, TODAY!
You PROMISED, no, SWORE to defend and support the Constitution of the U.S.A.
Since when is warrant-less, legal?
Since when is torture, legal?
Since when is defrauding Congress, legal?
.
In the last debate, Dodd stated that he would national security ahead of human rights. And yet now he's trying to portray himself as a defender of the constitution and our personal liberties.
A bit hypocritical, no?
THIS question needs to be asked. See video: CNN/YouTube Republican Debate: Giuliani 9/11 Question Giuliani claims, "American foreign policy had nothing to do with the September 11th. September 11th happened because these people who hate us, hate us because of the freedoms that we have." see my question
But the "CNN political team" picks the videos and it doesn't look like much chance they willl pick this. Stll, we should try to raise hell and spread the link to this question around: http://representativepress.googlepages.com/CNNYouTube.html
Tell others to do the same. Contact CNN and tell tehm you want to see this question asked.
Every time I see him, I like Chris Dodd a little more!
Ermm...yawn...?
Vitam Vas @ 17:
Thank you for your response. You not only saved me the time necessary to yank out the last tuft of hair on my head, you made some very good points I wouldn't have thought of.
Whether it sinks in with these folks is a whole 'nuther matter. We can only hope.
There is not another candidate who comes close to having Dodd's integrity and commitment to the rule of law. I hope enough people get to hear what Sen. Dodd is saying.
iraqconcilable @ 3:
The debate's scheduled for tomorrow night but don't hold your breath waiting to hear this question asked. Questions from declared candidates, especially of the other party, aren't really consistent with the format.
That being said, I think Chris Dodd asking that question was politically pretty smart. No matter what happens he wins.
D'oohhhhh! The crack film crew had Mr. Dodd sitting in front of the "D" in his last name, thereby presenting him as "Christopher Odd." Can't get a break.
Piss on the GOP! (they should be used to it by now)
That was odd. He should have made a joke about how he couldn't get airtime answering questions so he thought he try asking one.
JJohnson @ 2:
Ron Paul would.
