Does Condi Email? CREW Wants To Know.

CREW:

Earlier this year, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice discussed technology and e-mails with CNBC's Maria Bartiromo. Rice indicated that the State Department has changed its policy regarding e-mail and blackberrys:

QUESTION: So do you not take your blackberry when you go to China?

SECRETARY RICE: The truth of the matter is I don't have one. But I used to, but I don't now.

QUESTION: Is that because of security reasons?

SECRETARY RICE: Well, they don't let me play with almost anything technological now, Maria. Funny, but it seems they all want to do it for me. And it's too bad because, you know, I love the internet, I love e-mail and --

Who are "they"? What is the policy? And, why and when did the policy change? Given the major scandals surrounding the Bush administration involving e-mails, CREW wants to know. Last week, CREW filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request "seeking documents stating the Department of State's policies governing the Secretary of State's methods of communicating via e-mail with audiences both internal and external to the U.S. government."

She does make it sound like she isn't even allowed to email it herself, and that she misses email itself. Its as if she is implying there a private third party who messages on her behalf?

L.A. Confidential's picture

She doesn't have time for e-mail or internet. Her lackeys handle all that for her. Most of them don't even watch TeeVee. They don't have time they are to busy trying to conquer everything.

We also want to know the real reason why Bush chose Condoleeza Rice to be his National Security Advisor.

Maybe because Ms. Rice led Chevron's public policy committee overseeing "political issues"?.

Ms. Rice resigned from Chevron’s board on Jan. 16, 2001

--> During Rice's tenure, Chevron was paying out kickbacks for the millions profiteered through the Iraq Oil For Food program coming clean today to settle the probe.

Not to forget the massive transfer of wealth to the top 1% and control of resources and economics to these top 1%. Which has always been the agenda of this administration.

Our blackberry's aren't going to save us. Unless they start making models with a fazer for self protection.

Hey cut the crap folks. Condi is evil yes, but lay off the underhanded racism. We are supposed to be about diversity and equality, your comments sound like rightwing nutjobs trying to make theleft look bad, or at least as bad as they are!

Attack the actions, attack the policies, but don't stoop to personal attacks at a person's race, sex or preference. It demeans your point, and just shows your ignorance. Case in point: pantsuits, haircut, but is he black enough?. Bet you can name all three that the right attacked with these smears.

As to the email issue, I would bet the whitehouse is afraid of a papertrail now that they are finding out that they can't easily rewrite history as it is being written.

Well, strictly speaking, the Supreme Court isn't actually part of the administration. Barring something unforeseen, we'll still have "Coke Can Clarence" to deal with after the Bushies are a memory of a nightmare.

Also, Colin Powell is no longer part of this administration and he has at least one foot off the reservation. I don't think he's too happy about what the Bushies made him do as Secretary of State.

As Condoleezza Rice prepares to host the Middle East summit in Annapolis this week, her State Department has issued an updated historical timeline of American efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The timeline is a fascinating document both for what it reveals and what it leaves out. The rise of Hamas and its election victories are mentioned nowhere. That might just be because President Bush's hands-off policy of malign neglect is in part responsible for it.

For the details, see:
"On Eve of Summit, State Dept Rewrites Middle East History."

Bob, I would be very surprised if these "underhanded racists" weren't just trolls out to make the liberal blogs look as bad as their conservative counterparts.

As to the issue of "no electronics," I wonder whether this relates to this administration's congenital fear of transparency - that subconsciously or not, they realize that much of what they've done is so unethical, so immoral that it could land them all in very, very hot water.

Funny, how those so focused on destroying our privacy are so obsessed with their own.

Oh without a doubt. There are actually companies that offer this service for a fee now. "Hire a troll".

Then there is just the plain old troll who wants people to think the center and then left are racists and anti social people by spamming left blogs and stuff.

It's truly a sick game. Like Gates said back in the early 90's. "Anyone can publish" with Strat Me Up playing in the background on the big TeeVee promotional blitz for Win 95.

Interesting that in the same week we have the story about how authorities can and do track people without a warrant by tracking their cell phones and Condi says she no longer carries her Blackberry. Maybe she's tired of being tracked, too. I guess if you don't want to be tracked, you have to leave your cell phone at home, disconnect Onstar, check your vehicle daily for tracking devices, and who knows what else?

John Barringer's picture

Left&Left @ 28:

Bob@15 I am sick of fake elitist like you trying to wash out the truth because you're scared and have pathological demons. As a black man, I'm ashamed that Thomas replaced Thurgood Marshall, and that this totally unqualified woman is the highest profiled African American in the world. Please don't tell me that Colin isn't a yes man. This thinking is very prevalent in progressive black households.

Being a black man doesn't really afford you an excuse for holding these people to a standard so profoundly narrow as to be based solely on the degree of their negritude. Thurgood Marshall, like me, was a Baltimorean. Am I to base my critique of him on that particular shared accident of birth?

Rice Thomas and Powell are far more than just "representatives of their race". So are you. So am I. We need to get past this stuff if we're to have any sort of future.

Tom's picture

These people simply hate the truth and transparency. They tell us all the time that if we had nothing to hide, why be afraid of the search? Well, the shoe is on the other foot, isn't it? Why on earth should they hide and lie to their employers (Us)? maybe they do have something to hide, huh?
