Coffee, tea or torture? U.S. Company Jeppersen Dataplan is being sued for arranging logistical support for CIA torture flights but our freedom-loving government of course wants the suit dismissed because the documents are "classified."
Media conglomeration often creates unmanageable companies says Oligopoly Watch. Thus big media companies often end up fracturing into smaller pieces whether they want to or not. Works for me.
A solar power tower is a wondrous thing indeed. Acres of photovoltaics and mirrors reflect sunlight to a solar reflector at the the top of a giant obelisk, creating steam from piped-in water thus powering the turbines.
The V.A. is overwhelmed. Claims can take months, sometimes years, to process. During that time, the veteran gets no medical help. Since 90% of claims are accepted, let's provisionally accept claims and get vets the help they need fast.
HeadZup has the inside scoop on why Trent Lott is resigning. (And don't let the door hit you on the way out, Trent.)

Thank you so much for the linkage to my V.A. post! Can we get some real support for those who serve, please? Not just mealy-mouthed platitudes and yellow ribbons on SUVs? (Oops - my bad - that might require, ya know, paying some taxes or something equally unjust and abhorrent.)
Power tower? = Tower of Power!

We'll find out soon enough.
Reich-wingers are a having a hissy fit because they define this, as torture, yet, using their ever perverse "logic" this would be no different than water boarding...there is no permanent damage, you cannot die from this, it's only temporary, etc., etc.,

We live in a sick sick world.

NEWS FLASH, TRENT: We already knew you didn't like Black People.
What would really be news is if we learned you really were snuggling up to a Rent Boy here in DC, whispering "Dixie" in his ear and getting your rocks off.
We also learned your first name is actually CHESTER, you're ugly and no one really liked you in the Senate, anyway. ROFL
Doncha love it!?
Justice Thomas to the Supreme Court:
'STFU!'
I think, for once, he's speaking for the whole country.
(Except for the CrazyChristianEvangelicalFundamentalistZionistRapturistCult)
If Lott digs back into his genealogy, I'll be he'll find he's as black as anyone.
For sure, his heart is.

We need some new 'classifications' for our government documents.
Besides 'Eyes Only', 'Ultra', 'Top Secret', 'Secret', and 'Classified', we should add:
'Dumb', 'Dumber', 'Dumbest', 'Really, Really, Stupid', and, finally, 'Bush Special Stupidest'.
The next Iraq war funding bill should include the provision that the VA be increased proportionately to the increase in the number of troops in harm's way, retroactive to the beginning of the Iraq fiasco, and that appropriated funds must be first spent to increase the VA, before funding for additional combat.
In other words, let's plan and provide for fixing our troops, before we blow them apart.
Globalization Business Quiz
PAUL SOLMAN: So a shorter supply chain is simpler, more flexible. And the more transportation costs rise with the price of energy, the cheaper it will be compared to importing from great distances. We saw evidence at the machine tool show.
MIKE WELLER: That machine there is probably $35,000, $40,000 just to get it to port from Taiwan.
PAUL SOLMAN: But it was here, so you could argue that if machine tools like this one are still being shipped from Taiwan to Milwaukee, the cost gap sure hasn't closed yet. But, next booth over, this machine tool, which cost just $5,000 to make it to Milwaukee. How come?
MACHINE MANUFACTURER SPOKESMAN: The machine is made in our factory in southern California.
So, if you were a U.S. Business person. Would you buy the Machine from Mighty USA In Taiwan or the One Produced in Southern California?
All the evil plans are classified for a reason, they are criminal.
A solar power tower does indeed sound like a wondrous thing, and to take full advantage of it, we should make the top of it, the 'focal point', one of Cheney's 'Undisclosed Locations'.
China barred 3rd Navy visit to Hong Kong
AP - 20 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - The Chinese rejection of U.S. ship visits into Hong Kong is broader than initially reported, the Pentagon said Friday, revealing for the first time that a third incident had occurred last week.
They hate us for our freedoms right?

Where is the fake reich-wing outrage against their communist BFF?
I would like to call your attention to a number of solar projects in the Mojave desert of California and Nevada, that are currently or soon will be, producing electricity on a large comemercial scale. Here is the link: ">

They barred them from stopping there the first two times, I am not sure why the third would be a surprise. How many foreign military ships do we let dock in our cities?

Why shouldnt the Corporations making record profits
from this "war" fund the entire frikken system?
Its a crazy system .... tax dollars fund the military
the soldiers fight and GE and KBR rake in the money ... its nuts when you think about it.
Solar is the way to go. But let's decentralize it out of the hands of huge corporations. Solar panels on every housetop.
Years ago, I saw a solar battery charger refueling an electric car in a national park. Why not EVERY car?
Solar Power Tower is the tip of the iceberg:
www.trecers.net
The deserts absorb 700 times as much solar power as we currently consume on Earth from all other energy sources including coal, nuclear, oil, natural gas, and hydro-power.
Installing a network of Concentrated Solar Arrays onto 1/700th of the world's desert footprint and connecting them through a High Tension Global Grid, though a monumental and global undertaking would REPLACE our Energy Crisis with a permanent solution. And did I mention that a friendly by-product of the technology is Desalinization? Did I mention this technology does not preclude Wind Islands, Wave or Geothermal localized production since the Grid is 2-way?
The big-boy Oilagarchy doesn't want Americans to know there's an end to energy-monopoly within reach right now, in fact, for the cost of the Iraq War, we could already be enjoying our Green Energy Revolution today!
Thanks for highlighting issues at the V.A.
What in hell is 'Politics in the Zeros'?
Is that code for the poll numbers Dodd was racking up?
Or Giuliani's odds of surviving the next scandal revelation, where he put all of his ex-wives and mistresses on permanent NYC salaried assignments at $500K/year, as 'Central Park Bird Watchers', under a 'Do Not Discuss , or even mention the word 'Giuliani', ever, ever again' agreement?

COOOOOL stuff. I was coming in here to comment on the solar tower too. As long as there is oil, they don't want us to know about it!!! In fact, firemen might be at my door, this very instant, to take me away for being un-American (for even just looking at this). ;)
Check out another way to a) conserve enrgy b) reduce greenhouse gases, and c) add lots more green to our cities.

We've got to get moving on things other than increasing Exxon-Mobile fortunes.
Is anyone else having difficulty getting that page on the solar power tower to load? I've tried several times today and have given up repeatedly as I see my browser loading well over a thousand items. I searched for more information on the topic at other sites, but I'd like to see that page in case it's got anything that other sites are missing. If anyone has an idea of how to get the page to load or has any other good resources on the topic, please share. Thank you.
