But yesterday Bill-O gave us a gift by describing his ethical deficiencies, in his own words, far better than I ever could. From The Bill O'Pedia:

And Bill-O also managed to leave out the fact that his pal Al Franken (Stuart Smalley to Bill) has been on six USO tours. And rather than going to promote a new book, he brought along country singers, TV stars, cheerleaders and put on a three hour show.

Didn't Billo's ragging on the USO start in responce to their having turned down Dr. Laura's attempt to tour with them?
Al Franken also went to Iraq and Afghanistan several times with the USO. The last time he went they were subjected to mortar fire. On his show (to which he called in from the Middle East) he could not give his exact location - not even the country as directed by the military. I seem to remember that he said the show was interupted by the mortar file and having to evacuate. He had nothing but sympathy and praise for the men and women in uniform that had to be subjected to those conditions for months on end.
And don't forget the nest Senator from Minn.

I didn't know they were still around, what a great band. and to Bill'O-job who wants everyone to think he is Captain America - sorry Bill, a real American would not lie to his audience about what is happening in a war zone, for any reason! weather it's as critical as success and failure on the ground or as trivial as which "famous people" visit the troops.
Bill if your wet dream of a criminal administration didn't start a war of choice based on lies then no "famous people" would have to go to Iraq...and neither would our fine men and women in our great military.

Al Franken was there on numerous occations. He was there while there during heavy fighting and on one particular Christmas trip his act was temporarily postponed for a couple of hours due to a near by enemy bombing. He revealed on his radio show that he didn't tell his wife about that attack until after he had gotten home. The attack wouldn't stop him from making return trips.
Check out Youtube and search for USO Al Franken and you'll find plenty of clips that solders have posted from Al's show. Al comes out dressed as Saddam under arrest in chains and handcuffs. Marine guards drag "Saddam" forcibly out on stage. He then curses the audience out to their thundering cheers and gales of laughter.

Hah! I bought the Dixie Chicks post-censoring album for exactly that reason. Listened to it twice, put it away for good. Not a fan, though I respect their efforts. But my point was made: support for a group of real patriots exercising their right to free speech and simultaneously putting one up the nose of the average neocon douchebag.

Drowning Pool was amazingly able to recover after their original lead singer died. It's a pretty impressive comeback. Always liked them, good angry music.

I'm impressed. Never thought they'd ever make me feel that. It makes me ponder what would happen if BillO brought on a musician with opposing views who he thinks he can try and embarrass. I would pay good money to see someone like Frank Zappa (RIP) just destroy him. I saw an interview with him back in the 80's when Tipper Gore's version of the SS were attacking musicians they deemed inappropriate and he just layed waste to the lot of em. I can only imagine his smug ass getting verbally stomped. I'd really like to see him try and outwit Diamond Dave on any subject he desires, Iraq, Iran, the economy wtf ever he chooses. I guarantee he will be in for an unprecedented surprise. If you're only a casual fan or unfamiliar with who that is all I can say is he's like Rocks court jester. He has a clownish persona in music circles but to anyone who's ever really heard him do a serious interview you know he's not some dumb musician that will roll over when confronted with a subject he's not supposed to be familiar with. His persona aside he is unbelievably articulate and intelligent. BillO would be way out of his league but it would make for some great tv.
