Randi Rhodes Rocks.
A great many C&L commenters have mentioned Randi Rhodes' speech to the 50th Anniversary party of "PEACE ACTION of Michigan" on November 11, 2007. It's 37 minutes long and worth every single minute. Thanks commenters and thanks very much, Randi.

If you're not familiar with HR1955, Home Grown Terrorist Bill (I think that means us!) created by Liberal Democrat Jane Harmon. Unbelievable!
[refers to deleted post]
Is that what happened? I thought that someone else made that up, ran with it, and that Randi had nothing to with it (I mean, other than getting drunk and doing herself some damage). Do you have any info that verifies what you are saying?

I heard Randi say that she fell down and that the story circulating was pure bunk. I never heard Randi say it was Repthugs and I listen to her nearly every day. I used to hang out at her forum but became persona non gratis because I was too aggressive with "alternate theories".
I'm eyeball deep in grading, but I thought I'd take a few moments to swing by and say "hi" to everyone. And tell you that you should go vote for "Mr. Splashy Pants". You know you want to... ;)
Via Treehugger.com
Yeah, but who could possibly harpoon a whale named Mr. Splashy Pants? They might try, but then they'd start laughing and lose their grip.
You can vote here.
Randi
it
AWESOME!!!!
she needs her own nationally syndicated show. She was the sole-source of truth immediately after 9/11. from then to now, the archives of her shows have been an expose of actual truth that the media WON'T tell you about. She knows about the thefts of the 2000 and 2004 elections and is not afraid to talk about it on the air. She knows how the oil and defense contractors set up the plan to for the invasion of Iraq way before 9/11. She is not afraid to tell the truth and
I think C&L should have a weekly 5 minute soundbite on their site for the information she brings out. On calibre but more forceful than Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!
I'd love to listen to her, but I'm too busy trying to piece together what happened this morning when I woke up with a bump on my head on the sidewalk, covered in Huckabee 2008 bumperstickers.
Well, for whatever mistakes she's made in her personal life, her points in this speech so far are right on target.
Palooka = troll.
Please stay on message. Randi is absolutely correct in this speech and is one of the best political talk radio hosts today. She DOES know her facts and welcomes the challenge so go ahead and call into her show and debate her openly.
Randi Rocks.
Randi's Lawyer erroneously came to a false conclusion that Randi was attack in New York, and apologized for that false report, then FOX news knew that it was false, reported it on air that she was attack. The police confirm that Randi never reported a mugging.
I am going to have to believe the authority that was there in New York at the time of the incident. I'll believe the authority anywhere over FOXnews report in a heart beat.
I think we believe that journalist should have accredited qualification of being a journalist on news station reporting news. This rumor of Randi Attack is one reason why this is so. Thanks for bringing this up.
beliEve, for christ's sake.

Exactly what I heard, too. I was just trying to draw that moron out and then slap him down. I think I am happier that the SM just deleted his crap.
And yes, Randi rocks. Always has her facts straight, reference material apparently right in front of her and cites her sources. Most of all, she says, "DON'T believe me. Go find out for YOURSELF". Now THAT rocks.
Great speech from very thoughtful women. I just added this video on John Locker.com, so more people can enjoy it.
we have to impeach to restore our crediblity in the world and show we are still a nation of laws and not of men
Completely off-topic and I apologize, but I hope C&L post the video....I was watching Wolf interview Huckabee about the Wayne DuMond issue. Can anyone guess who's name he brought up multiple times. I'll give you hint, his first name is Bill and last name is Clinton.
She is on my radio to and from work. It gives me something to think about while I am driving besides the traffic. Randi is awesome.
[refers to deleted post]
Ok: can you not? We have already got past the false reporting that Randi had nothing to do with.
I didn't realize that Randi has big boob, I guess I was more focus on what she says, instead of what FOXnews report. I have had heard that FOXnews have a bevy of big booby newscaster. Now I know why the news banners screen flash near the area of cleavage and boobs. Apparently rightwingers get all of their news update near the cleavage shot.
I listen to Randi every day on my stream of Air America. 3pm to 6pm mon-friday. If I did not have Randi and Democracy Now I would be depressed from what I get on my local talk radio (all right wing Republican propaganda).
She is a C-Span junkie and she does her homework.
Thanks for putting up the speech.
The media needs more of Randi and less of Fox News nonsense.
I can't get it to play!!!! Ah Randi, the voice of reason......
"I wrote a two sentence e-mail to the company that I was mugged."
Her words.
Not trying to troll. But honestly, Randi Rhodes lost my attention on that one. Mistakes like that make it difficult for legitimate people to call themselves "liberal".
rhandi rhodes does not rock. She is very similar to many conservative talk show hosts that we all hate. I remember hearing an interview she did with Nader a long time ago and it was appalling. Her goal in the interview was to talk louder than him and cut him off over and over to prevent any serious discussion. Sound familiar?
Palooka @ 19:
You still haven't posted anything backing up your claims and THAT'S a fact. Your post got deleted because the SM didn't want to look at it for a variety of reasons that I could make an educated guess at, not because it illuminated some great truth.
And I am not calling you a troll, but just because you post here all the time doesn't automatically make you a non-troll. Trolls post inflammatory comments for the purpose of disrupting or hijacking threads, starting fights, posting misinformation or just to get attention. That's one definition, anyway. But they can post a lot and still be trolls.
Greg @ 15:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ Some more breaking news... I love this shit. :o)
bloc @ 22:
Correct. She is making serious bank now. Cha ching.
She has a great face for radio.
bloc @ 22:
Yeah, I agree: when she gets into that mode I want to scream, but mostly because I think she can be better than that. She does it to her callers, too, even the ones she agrees with.
Pobody's nerfect.
Harley @ 25:
How do you know? And besides, in all likelihood she would make a much better living whoring for the right wing, but she doesn't choose to go that way.
And I am going to ahead and guess that you have a face made for anonymous blogging.
bloc @ 22:
I'll have to agree with you. Randi has some very good points and is a very smart woman. But she is the progressive version of Sean Hannity. Although I do have to say, I loved the one on one she did with the "Church Lady", can't remember her name.
Randi has sharp wits, and probably one of my favorite on Air America. I love the others on that show as well, one big family. But this I would say, that Randi is air America more so than Al Frankin. I do love Al, but I think Randi has given her all to the show. However, Randi has been the closest to the way I feel on these issues. She also has a military background and that really help to foster her opinion of warfare issues in Iraq.
bloc @ 22:
So? Whats your point? Randi is an advocate. She is not presenting herself as a journalist. If she was pissed because she thought Nader was responsible for Bush getting elected, she can make that clear in an interview.
Bonkers @ 27:
Guess who got the big fat contract after Franklin left?
The same adversters for her show are the same advertisers for Limpbaugh, Hannity, etc, etc.
Java Coffee, Make your own will, etc, etc.
If she gave a crap she would not be taking coins from them.
You need a white hat and a black hat to really make both sides rich.
bloc @ 22:
She was rude to Nader . . . and she is a human being . . . I give her a 95 with a little room for improvement.
Randi Rhodes sometimes does go over the top on her radio talk shows. But she is still a fighter and does not put up with crap from anyone. However, a tip for her, she should tone down the loud voice when on TV because it does look like she is trying to simply talk over evreyone.
I am used to her way of talking and love her, but many others don't.
Just my 2 cents.
How much money she makes is important because why? Do you think that to be a Democratic party member that you need to be poor or something?
RR is the ONLY broadcaster that tells the whole story. I listen to her fairly often and I always come away with facts that I've never heard anywhere else.
When I hear something that's almost unbelievable on her show, I'll investigate it, she's always right on with her info.
It makes me feel helpless to hear her talk about facts that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and FOX should be reporting but simply don't.
bloc @ 22:
Indeed, she definitely does not "rock." I remember that "interview" (more like an ambush, actually), and I recall that, before that, she'd spent her first couple of days on Air America whining that she hadn't been promoted by the network as much as Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo.
In any case, we'll see how much Randi "rocks" when she supports the next war-mongering Democratic Party nominee for President (as she did with "reporting for duty" John Kerry in 2004), because we "can't afford" to let the Republican get elected.
Rachel Maddox is an expert on air interviews. Always has a peachy smile when biting back lunacy from the host or zany guest. Randi could learn some of Rachel style.
Harley @ 31:
A dash of speculation, a smidge of insinuation, some blabber about advertisers who really just advertise to as large an audience as they can find, and finally some vague statement about good and evil. Whatever, man. Just say you don't dig on her show or her message or something; I'd respect that.
See...now I just love Randi even more. It's not fair I tells ya. Way to go babe!! You knocked it out of the park!!
WR @ 35:
That's well said. I have said as much. Yet her detractors want to talk about style over substance. I don't get it; I thought us "libs" lived in a fact-based reality and preferred it that way?
Thank you for posting the video, I love Randi Rhodes. She's a very compelling person who knows her stuff and backs it up with proof. She talked about giving the speech on her radio show the day after she gave it and I've been waiting to see it since. sooo THANKS!
I generally find her to be annoying....but that was pretty good.
V V
That's right democrats need to be more progressive and stop telling other democrats that we need to choose the status quo.
Dennis Kucinich 2008!
Let's show those other democrats what a progressive looks like and what we stand for, were not afraid!!
OK, I watched the vid.... 37 minutes and I wasn't bored or put off by her delievery or any of that stuff... Frankly I agree with the leadin totally. Ms. Rhodes, definitely ROCKS! And that speech spelled out just about everything I'm concerned or worried about and why we all should be alarmed at the state of this nation today... Fucking right on Randi!!!! JD
All done then, Harley? Or do you want to say something nasty about Randi's ass?
Palooka:
“I wrote a two sentence e-mail to the company that I was mugged.”
Her words.
Not trying to troll. But honestly, Randi Rhodes lost my attention on that one. Mistakes like that make it difficult for legitimate people to call themselves “liberal”.
Fine. I will take that at face value for now (glad that you aren't trolling, either). But did it occur to you that if this is true she may have been lying about being mugged because is embarassing to tell your employer that you won't be in for work because you got falling down drunk? I see nothing in your statement where Randi says it was (egad, I feel childish just typing it) republicans. It was another AAR host that ran with some crazy story about Randi's "mugging".
I think it is unfortunate that you won't listen to her anymore, and what's more are likely telling others to follow suit, based on this one issue.
*note: I think it is ill-advised to lie to your employer about something like this, but I am not Randi's dad so I am not going to waste time pontificating on "what I would do".
Bonkers @ 26:
Is that what you would say in response to piss-poor behaviour by Rush or O'Reilly?
Just sayin'!
Shawnmeat @ 46:
Pretty much. They drive me crazy with their poor behavior. But what is really terrible in their penchant for lying and outright scummery of so many flavors I can't name them all right now. I DON'T think they want to do better than that. Can they do better? Criminy, sure, yeah, whatever: somewhere in their shriveled hearts they might have the potential for telling the truth, but I am not counting on it.
Would I be more harsh with them? Oh gee, ya got me. I chose a side and it isn't theirs. I don't like them. At ALL. They are both schoolyard bullies that need a good smack in the mouth as much as anything else.
I think it is unfortunate that you won’t listen to her anymore, and what’s more are likely telling others to follow suit, based on this one issue.
The ladies on The View make a good point from time to time, but I still leave the room whenever it's on because of whats-her-face spouting nonsense.
Maybe I'm just cynical, but I have zero tolerance for nonsense. Politics aren't always _serious business_, but misinformation discredits not only yourself, but any movement one is associated with.
Is that what you would say in response to piss-poor behaviour by Rush or O’Reilly?
Rush and O'Reilly get paid to be douche bags.
I wish _I_ could get paid to be a douche bag. I've been doing it for free all these years.
Shawnmeat @ 46:
Rash and O'Lielly do nothing BUT lie day after day - no comparison. So she lied to her employer - hasn't everyone taken a 'mental health' day calling in to say they are sick? Big deal.
bloc @ 22:
Wow, you heard that interview (or maybe a clip of it) but you really didn't listen to it (or hear all of it) she was not interviewing him, she had him on the show to tell him to drop out of the presidential race, that "we could not afford him" was what she had him on the show to talk about. she was 100% right, he is not a real candidate, he does nothing for his party in the off season, he has never tried to groom a candidate for the House or Senate, he only runs for president so Ralph Nader will feel good about Ralph Nader. I like some of his ideas, but in this case Randi was right on the money.
and I suggest the next time you hear Randi Rhodes you listen as well.
I live in Houston. In the fourth largest city in the country, we can't get Air America on AM radio.
So on a recent trip to Austin, one of the things I was looking forward to was AA.
That was the first time I heard RR. I was appalled! I thought earlier poster's comparisons to Hannity, Limbaugh etc were apt. I say that now as I am listening to the speech and heartily agreeing with every word.
Sorry if RR fans find this offensive. I had heard of RR for years and was looking forward to hearing her. I have no problem with sitemonitors here deleting sidetracking trolls - what I had a problem with RR was her treatment of progressives who didn't hew to the exact line she did. She was abusive and talked bad about em after she had cut em off.
It's her show - I don't have to listen to it again. I won't. That crap makes me just as mad (or madder) when it comes from a liberal as when it comes from a wingnut.
Newt Gingrich articulated his phoney "Contract with America" and ushered in the Republican Revolution which has now taken our Republic to the precipice of extinction. Randi has written a new "Contract with America" which has revitalized the vision of all who have died defending our way of life. Every Democrat should run on these well articulated principles.
UnEasyOne @ 51:
God, you sound like a complete moron. You heard her once, and you pass judgment like this? Are you insane?
I've been listening to her since her first day on AA, and to compare her with any of those hate-mongers you mentioned suggests that you must be one of them.
Refreshing as standing under a waterfall in the desert. Thanks, C&L.
As for this "Randi's better!" "Rachel!" crapola, please remember that you aren't talking about different shades of the same person - enjoy them BOTH for what each brings to the table. (And don't forget Stephanie Miller!)
Might make a good TV show while the strike goes on..."Battling Radio Babes!" Show a little skin and even Fox will run clips. Over and over and over...
Maybe this would be a good time for the Networks to offer time to all the candidates they can find. Give them a half hour each - the ratings that each get might be more accurate than polls.
Silly me, what am I thinking? Networks doing a non-profit motivated service for the people? What wor;d am **I** living in?
Chris? Oh, Chris?
Shut up.
Signed,
A highly intelligent, reasoned, well-read, common-sensical liberal/progressive who sees nuance and gradation and who doesn't reflexively and myopically compartmentalize everything into tidy little boxes.
Palooka @ 48:
Hah! I can respect your standards for talk radio and news discourse. I feel the same way sometimes.
Don't get me started on The View. Is that lady who thinks the world is flat still on? I like the others ok, no strong feelings one way or the other, but that one would make me leave the room, too (if I even watched that show).
Take 'er easy!
Your fellow douche,
Bonkers
Chris @ 53:
Ladies and gentlemen of SomeVillage, USA, we have found your babbling idiot. Please collect him at the security desk.
Thank you for visiting C&L World. Try the snowcones!
Bonkers @ 58:
Honestly you can just boot out all the babbling idiots...I don't even thing their village wants them back. How do you think they got here in the first place?
Chris @ 53:
And to Chris...what does it mean to you to be a conservative?
To me it means being so scared shitless that you are willing to give up every right you have, as long as I get to keep my gun (except after the Bush Crime Family gets all your other rights, their coming for your gun next) and it means not using any type of critical thinking, not to mention logic or reason. it means rooting for other people children to go and die for a cause you say you support, but you'll manager to have a pre-existing condition or other bullshit reason you can't go and fight. So I guess what I'm trying to say is being a conservative equals being the coward of the country.
and congratulations for fitting the bill so exactly.
Chris @ 61:
oh, so that's what it means to be a conservo-bot...good job!
Oh. My. Beautifully articulated. Randi truly does rock.
Chris! CHRIS!
We're "attacking" because you're a moron! A parrot!
And, no, we're not hugging! And our knees don't jerk -- that's a reich-wing reflex!
Are you really that stupid? Do you always stereotype and generalize so easily? How dense are you?
And ... I told you to shut up, remember? C'mon, learn to follow directions. Learn to quit while you're still behind.
OK, thanks for listening, and keep on visiting C&L. Just don't post anything until you've gotten a clue.
bloc @ 22:
You mis-spelled "Goddess of Talk Radio."
I didn't hear this particular program, but I've heard her talk about Nader a couple of times on the air, and her comments were right on target. if Nader wants to develop the Green Party into a significant agent for change, he could insist that they develop grass roots support, by running good candidates for city councils and state legislatures. Instead, he wasn't even willing to take out a Green Party membership.
http://polaris.gseis.ucla.edu/pagre/conservatism.html spells out recent American politics.
Q: What is conservatism?
A: Conservatism is the domination of society by an aristocracy.
Q: What is wrong with conservatism?
A: Conservatism is incompatible with democracy, prosperity, and civilization in general. It is a destructive system of inequality and prejudice that is founded on deception and has no place in the modern world.
That speech was wonderful! Thanks bluegal! And thanks Randi!
Every member of Congress, the entire judicial branch, every civil servant and everyone in uniform should be compelled to watch this. this should be shown in every school room in the country, from about 8th grade through college. This should have been covered on every news channel.
Has Keith Olberman seen this?
I once told my wife:
Honey . . . we have to talk . . . I'm in love with another woman . . . it's Randi Rhodes !
Lollimom @ 53:
Thanks for illustrating my point so explicitly.
I don't need any more than that short comment to know that I am uninterested in further discourse with you.
It didn't take more than fifteen minutes to see the way she treated her callers. That isn't the first time I've been called a moron by a dittohead like yourself. I gave her an hour - that was more than enough for me.
Back in the 60s, when I was arguing for tolerance of different ideas with rednecks and Maoists, I got the same response. I wear it with pride.
The way I read it, Randi had so much of the daylights knocked out of her that she really was in a shaky state, which accounted for the barely-effable emergency email that contained her knee-jerk assumption, which was that she was mugged.
That the media chose to take off and run with it as if it was confirmed evidence and not worth waiting on a few days for validity... It isn't good.
Catherine Rome @ 65:
I think the "Conservatives Without Conscience" book brings forth so many subdivisions, mutations and infections within the broad "conservative" sphere that to boil down Conservatism to "the domination of society by an aristocracy" is to limit the senses of conservatism.
Conservatives of years past weren't neocons. The ideals of conservatism have been hijacked by a lucrative faction of determined institutions that want to skew the true complexities of the population. If you used to be somebody who was kind of down on welfare, but didn't believe in total abandonment of a city after a hurricane disaster, there's no one speaking for you anymore. But it doesn't define conservatism because conservatism has numerous branches and histories, some more sensible than others.
Nice speech by Randi but it is meaningless. The American public went to polls and elected George Bush to lead our nation; not once but twice. That's the bottom line.
No, mrogi, the venal and corrupt Republican Party, with help from the Supreme Court in 2000 and rigged voting machines and other shenanigans in Ohio and elsewhere in 2004, stole both elections for Bush. It's that simple -- and that tragic and treasonous.
.
Please note:
That was Congressman John Conyers just to the left of center, sitting with his back to the camera.
Notice, he only applauds to his Health Care Bill.
However the coward he be, at least he sat through it all, NO?
.
mrogi @ 72:
L I A R!
2000 he was selected, not elected.
2006 Ohio stole and disenfranchised votes and the State should have revoked it's Electoral Collage votes due to FRAUD.
.
UnEasyOne @ 69:
So, what did she say in this speech that was sooooooo... CRAZY anyway?
Back your hate up with some facts, otherwise people WILL get the impression that you ARE one of "THEM".
Chris @ 60:
Chris,
When is warrantless, legal?
When is torture, legal?
When is invading a nation that never attacked us nor posed ANY threat to our National Security, legal?
When is lying about it to a Joint Session of Congress, legal?
I could go on... but it ends with the same question:
What does it mean to BE an American?
... Chris...?
.
Thanks Randi and thanks for posting this.
Max-1 @ 76:
Please learn to read. In my first statement (which I notice you didn't quote) I said that I was listening to the speech and had agreed with every word to that point. I later made it clear that my problem with RR was that she treated even progressives who called her show but didn't share her exact opinion, shabbily - cutting them off and talking bad about them when they could no longer respond.
I never mentioned hate at all - or dislike of anything but the unfair tactics - it reminds me too much of wingnut radio. I simply said that I wasn't gonna listen to her show anymore.
Gah! People like you are no better than those you claim to despise. You use and justify exactly the same tactics.
Here is some news for you. True progressives understand that others may not share their exact opinion - and are still progressives. The far right and the far left (Nazis and Communists) share one thing exactly. They tolerate no dissent and liberals are the first to go up against the wall for execution.
I have to agree with bloc and Bonkers about Ms. Rhodes. I began listening to her early on as Air America began, and became quickly disenchanted. After the first few of months, I simply could not stomach her. She truly is the other side of the same coin as Limbaugh/Hannitty, etc. Not just in style, but in substance. She consistently took facts out of context, twisting them too fit her ideology. She plays fast and loose with the truth often presenting conjecture and opinion as fact. Just because I tend to agree with her POV doesn't mean that I will drink her Kool-Aid. She is passionate but that doesn't excuse her tactics. I don't mind someone spouting their opinion, but there are enough reasons to despise Bush and Company, I did need someone to basically make stuff up to support their position, something which Ms. Rhodes did too frequently for me.
moderate indy @ 81:
Read comment #79 from beginning to end. Apparently that position makes you a moron, a hater, crazy and one of "THEM!"
I think you"ll get a good laugh.
Nice speech by Randi but it is meaningless. The American public went to polls and elected George Bush to lead our nation; not once but twice. That’s the bottom line.
Your statement is meaningless. Even if the two elections hadn't been stolen (which at least the first one was) - this doesn't mean in any way that the president is off criticism, even impeachment. Remember Nixon? He led a criminal government and was bound to be impeached - notwithstanding the fact that he'd just been reelected by one of the biggest margins in American history.
Would you have said in 1973 to 74: "Congress's stance is meaningless"...?
1. Her "attack" is such old news.
2. Criticizing her show because it advertises Java coffee means what? Is Java coffee supporting some terrorist groups?
3. Al leaves and she gets the big contract. Al had the big contract because he had the name. Air America went bankrupt. New owner Mark Green hired radio people (Randi, Thom, and Ed) at the "market" rate. Who really knows and who cares what they make. I know I've been listening to Randi since 2000 (streaming on my dial-up modem). She was in Florida working for Clear Channel ,and I assume not making what she makes now. She has been consistent with her views and opinions.
4. She insulted Ralph Nader. Thank goodness. Like me she said she admired his positions, but questioned if he was serious about making a difference. She told him he should help the Green Party get elected from the ground up-get some in US Congress first and then into the presidency. And...
5. Where are the comments about her speech? Did anyone bother to "listen" to it? She spoke about what we liberals BELIEVE in. Someone has to because the dems in Congress aren't doing it.
6. Randi is smart and accurate with her facts. She wants you to research what she says. Compare that with Sean Hannity or most of the MSM and I'd say we are fortunate to have her. She's worth every penny she's getting.
I keep this speech on my mySpace page and post it as a bulletin every week or so. It is truly perfect writing. It sums it all up in 37 minutes. She is a national treasure. Our tough progressive/liberal conscience.
randi is very intelligent and well informed politically. but she's rude, arrogant and self-absorbed. AND, she knows fuck all about music. she thinks she's some kind of expert and it's embarrassing. She once compared Soundgarden to Slaughter. I rest my case.
Chris @ 80:
Chris, I hate to burst your bubble, but you may want to refer to Marbury vs. Madison to help you clear up that misconception that the Executive gets to decide what is or is not legal with no oversight from the Judicial branch of our government.
We all know people like you are in love with the concept of the unitary executive which allows your beloved stooge of a President to seize the maximum amount of power with the minimum amount of restraints, but that is simply un-Democratic and an intermediary step towards a totalitarian state.
Paladin @ 36:
yes, because we all know a warmongering Democrat is way worse than an incompetent, thrice married/divorced/cheating little hitler, a baptist minister who thinks the Earth is 6,000 yrs old and didn't know anything about the NIE, a Mormon who flipflops but looks "pretty" on tv, a grumpy 80 yr old televangelist hugger, or an actor who just sits there taking up space.
yes, waaaay worse.
Any Dem, '08!!!
Mike @ 85:
Amen brother.
Micheal@84 Yeah and you keep your pathetic case permanently rested mother fucker. Randi spoke up to this piece of shit adminstration when it was unpopular. Now everyone is coming out of the woodwork to protest - well fuck them and you! That woman has bigger balls than anyone in the MSM.
The truth speaks for itself. Old rheotoric? Perhaps, but Americans are so stupid and naive, their heads must be banged against the truth many times over until their brain is centered and the fog is removed and they are able to put 2 and 2 together.
Randy Rhodes might be a little extreme but our government is not working, so the alternative is Randy Rhodes.
the "interview" as you call it was on her first broadcast on the first day that Air America was on the air. . She never asked Mr. Nadir a question She was very much a left version of o"reilly & limbaugh. Film footage seen later showed a very smug randi in the chair that day. i never listed to her program again. it is trash. i have seen her interview on other shows and have heard this and other speeches and have been impressed.
But her treatment of Mr. Nadir was rude, self serving, disrespectful and just wrong in all its absence of logic. (if you remember she is one of those that Blame Mr. Nadir for the loss of the election) He was never given the opportunity to speak. it was senseless and unforgiveable.
If anyone was self absorbed and egotistical in that first Air America interview, it was that pompous jerk, Nader. Randi only asked that old fool of the merits of his running for President and was he helping Bush (a legitimate question many were asking) he got all upset and tried to control the interview. Randi check his "Presidential" ass. Yeah it got nasty, so what. Democrats truly need to be willing to get dirty in this atmosphere. It surely could have helped Kerry. Nader's tired ass comes out of the jungle every four years with that bullshit Messiah talk fucking up elections and helping Republicans.
Greg @ 28:
Disagree with both of you. Randi definitely does rock. She is nothing like Vannity. She uses facts to back up her commentary and is willing to speak against the Dem leadership in Congress when they do the wrong thing. When does Hannity ever challenge repugs?
I heard the interview with Nader and I really could care less if she manhandled him or not. He's proven he was never interested in building a real third party and only shows up every four years to run for president. He deserved the treatment he got from Randi.
Max-1 @ 74:
In 2000, Al Gore conceded defeat.
In 2004, John Kerry conceded defeat.
When the leaders of your own gattdam party publicly admit George Bush kicked their ass in both presidential elections; why beat a dead horse? Game - Set - Match.
Advantage George W. Bush.
Randi Rhodes is much better in a public speaking forum than she is hosting radio. Her radio show is impossible to tolerate for more than 5 minutes. The speech is excellent.

While both conteders that you mention conceded defeat, the only person who ever admitted to having their ass kicked by George W. Bush is Ann Richards. John Kerry and Al Gore did not get their asses kicked, but they both rolled over; which is unacceptable. If you were paying attention to the types of forums where Randi Rhodes is speaking, you would know that there is a large gap between the type of leadership that is acceptable to beltway establishments and the type of leadership that is acceptable to voters. These forums are a formal rejection of the leadership failures that brought about those concessions. These types of forums are a call for renewed leadership that represents voters to DC, instead of representing DC to voters.
thank you randi for saying that which should not even have to be said. the real question now is why harry reid or nancy pelosi have not said the same thing loudly, clearly, forcefully and repeatedly. Why haven't they. They stand off to the side cowering hoping to not upset the powers that be. Perhaps some would take issue with that and support them and their stance whatever that is. but i'm just giving a perception here of what I see and perhaps what others as well might see.
special thanks to randi. after listening to her for a few years, i believe in her sincerity and i also believe she has more huevos than most men, at least more than those in the congress.
