Arianna responds To Huckabee's non-response to Murray Waas' Wayne Dumond story

Dan Abrahms covers this story. I watched Huckabee deny Murray's column on The TODAY Show the other day, but ABC news also carried the same charges that we ran here.
Murray Waas used something that our media lacks, shoe leather and that wonderful practice of investigative reporting that brought more light to Huckabee's monstrous antics in releasing the murderous rapist Wayne Dumond because of pressure from the right wing noise machine when he was Governor. Since our media is content with mostly asking Huckster "Jesus" questions, it's about time the real Mike was exposed.
The way that Mike Huckabee has handled the furor caused by the Huffington Post's coverage of his role in the release of Wayne Dumond, a serial rapist who went on to rape and kill at least one other woman, has been very revealing. And troubling.
Huckabee's response has been to fudge the truth, point the finger at everyone in sight, and -- that old standby -- blame the messenger.He also claimed "the Huffington Post just doesn't want to give the whole story of what was going on." Really? Our original story on the Dumond case was over 4,000 words long and offered what even the American Spectator deemed a "detailed, convincingly irrefutable" presentation of the evidence in which HuffPost "backs up every single word." I know Murray well and his reporting is impeccable, so we'll see how much follow up our media does on this story. I did see Meredith Vieira ask Huckabee about this story and he offered no facts in his defense...It's not surprising since there are none...Except of course---to blame Bill Clinton.

Topeka — U.S. Sen. Barack Obama won the Kansas Democratic Party email straw poll, party officials announced today.
Obama tallied 692 votes out of 1,904 votes cast for 36.3 percent. The poll was held this week and ended last night.
Second place went to U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton with 504 votes, or 26.5 percent. Former senator John Edwards had 355 votes or 18.6 percent.
Another republican caught lying. Does this really surprise anyone anymore?

Thanks for this posting. The blogs cannot let this story fade away. The MSM is pretty much ignoring it because they have decided that they want Huckabee to get the Republican nomination. Reading the letters from Dumond's victims who wrote to Huckabee pleading with him not to allow this monster to be paroled is heartbreaking. Mr. Niceguy Huckabee apparently doesn't care a lick about these poor women or any women but cares more about sticking it to Clinton. This story is sickening and cannot go away.
Huckebee has some issues when he is taken down by posters on REDSTATE.

Not that it will matter, but did anyone consider that possibility that if Gov. Huckabee actually wanted to pardon the guy, he would have? Or he would have granted the commutation to time served that Dumond requested in 1996? It was sitting on his desk when he became governor after Gov. Tucker -- who, by the way, commuted Dumond's sentence so that he was eligible for parole -- resigned.
He didn't grant a pardon. He didn't commute the sentence. This story has come up, it's been run through the ringer in Arkansas already. There really isn't anything there except a bunch of accusations.

I am not sure if I understand this story. Murray raped Clinton's distant cousin and is sent to jail and Mike Huckabee urged for him to be release. He rapes again therefore it is Clinton's fault?
I used to think Mike Huckabee wasn't a bad person (for a politican), maybe just a bit too religious, but he should not be allowed to hold public office after I have learned about this. Not only did he facilitate the rape and murder of an innocent girl, but he blamed another victim's distant cousin for partisan reasons.

Huckabee also believes in Biblical inerrancy which means that the Bible is totally without error. See how well that goes over in the general election. What is sick about this is that every candidate should know that they'll get caught if they constantly tell lies. And this candidate tells lies anyway.
This tells me that he'll keep on telling lies, as he probably can't even help himself. I've known a few habitual liars and it is very difficult for me to be around them. They couldn't stop lying and wouldn't even admit it when they were caught red handed. I don't believe that these people can even help or even tell when they are lying. I think they're brains mis-remember their past, and they come to believe that their new revisions are the gospel truth.
Mike Huckabee is demonstrating that he is probably one of these people.
If you see no problem with his dishonesty, then that is your prerogative.
But if is like those other folks I've known, then he is likely to be basing his daily decisions on a plastic and fluid, imaginary version of history.

Yeah, I was hoping Abrahms would have hammered on that. As ridiculous as it sounds, Bill Clinton was Huckabee's motive for advocating for the parole of Dumond. Clinton's relative was Dumond's victim, so the right-wing radio freaks were making him a cause celeb. There were a bunch of crack-pots running their mouths (and making up facts, like that Dumond had no priors) about how Dumond got screwed by Clinton unjustly. (You may recall a number of wacko rightwing stories - travelgate, whitewater, Ruby Ridge, Branch Davidians, etc. - this one came back to bite Huckabee in the ass.) Anyway, so as an effort to reach out to the lunatic right-wing, Huckabee tells them that he's going to give Dumond a fair shake.
Abrahms does a pretty good job explaining the leverage Huckabee employed (by the way, how many times do you get three people on the news talking about the same event saying, "yep, that presidential candidate is lying.")
One other thing he could have mentioned: Huckabee knew Dumond was a threat to the public. When he was paroled, it was on the condition that he leave the state!

If had either pardoned or commuted the sentence of Dumond his signature would have been on the paper. Pressuring the parole board was an attempt at plausible deniability which is unraveling quite fast. I'd sure like to ask Gov.
