Countdown's Worst Persons: Hucky, BillO and Soulless McConnell

So many choices, so little time...On Friday's Countdown, Keith Olbermann awards the bronze to Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee for flip-flopping on his faith-based "we're better than that" stance on illegal immigration to advocating mass deportation of undocumented workers in 120 days, nevermind the logistics required to do so. The silver prize goes to the perennial Bill O'Reilly, for turning a story of a shooting into proof positive of a illegal immigration problem with sanctuary cities.
And the well-deserved gold goes to Senator Mitch McConnell who--perhaps unwittingly--expressed the callousness for which the Republican party (and everyone else who enables the troops to stay in Iraq) feels about the troops they claim to support. Keith said it best:
Senator, you need to resign. And then you need to go look for a soul so you can get it implanted in your body.

Gotta love the Worst Person awards where Keith stops joking and really means it, and boy did Keith mean it last night. They rank up there with the Special Comments IMO.
John, you and Keith Olbermann missed a good one on FOX News the other day. They were basically telling their audience that praising your children when they do well on anything is bad. We should be ignoring smart kids like they don't exist, because that's healthy for them.

Huckabee Wanted to Isolate AIDS Patients

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could "pose a dangerous public health risk."
As a candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in 1992, Huckabee answered 229 questions submitted to him by The Associated Press. Besides a quarantine, Huckabee suggested that Hollywood celebrities fund AIDS research from their own pockets, rather than federal health agencies.
"If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague," Huckabee wrote.
"It is difficult to understand the public policy towards AIDS. It is the first time in the history of civilization in which the carriers of a genuine plague have not been isolated from the general population, and in which this deadly disease for which there is no cure is being treated as a civil rights issue instead of the true health crisis it represents."
The AP submitted the questionnaire to both candidates; only Huckabee responded. Incumbent Sen. Dale Bumpers won his four term; Huckabee was elected lieutenant governor the next year and became governor in 1996.

Actually, that might just be a good idea... this may be apocryphal, but I had parents like that and I grew up to be a liberal, it may take a generation, but it might just work!
Huckabee said that?!?! Maybe I need to reconsider his as a viable Presidential candidate... Round 'em up and ship 'em out! I love it more than anything I've seen in the form of so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform from our Senators... Actually, I don't think it will be necessary to round 'em up to get the illegal aliens to leave the country... If the USA simply cracked down on employers who hire illegals; outlawed public assistance and free medical care for illegals; secured the border; and stepped up enforcement along the border and in the interior of the country most of these illegals would self-deport...

Definitely agree with you on cracking down on employers. Combine enforcement with a real raise in the minimum wage, and immigration problems disappear. Unfortunately, not only do corporations enjoy practical immunity from the law, they also simply love their cheap labor pool. Right now, immigration is exactly where they want it.

However I've known far better adjusted folks than myself with politics little different that grew up in very caring and loving atmospheres... so I can't really imagine why praising your kid for doing the right thing is 'bad'. Sounds like a load of shit to me.

O'Reilly may as well have a sign saying: "Keith Olbermann owns me. I am his and the reality-based community's laughingstock for as long as I am allowed to be a raving loony dumbass on air".
An all-volunteer military doesn't elminate the duty to responsibly and wisely use their willingness to serve and risk everything, it multiplies that duty a million-fold. Their act of volunteering doesn't render them expendable, it renders them precious beyond value.
I find it rare that I would disagree with Keith Olberman. But this is one of those time. Mitch McConnel shouldn't resign, he should instead eat shit, die and go to hell.
