If FOX News is bringing Gennifer Flowers -- a name that I can honestly say I haven't heard in years -- then to my way of thinking, it only shows how very threatened they are feeling on behalf of the GOP presidential candidates as well as how desperate they are to find some way of derailing the Clinton campaign by fair means or foul. Mind you, I'm not standing up for Hillary because I want her to win the nomination -- far from it, because I quite frankly don't -- but bringing up Gennifer Flowers (who's working as a lounge singer, for cryin' out loud!) is sinking to an all-new depth even for FOX. They're not just scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one -- they're digging into every seam and crevice in the hopes of finding something, anything, that they might be able to use to discredit her. Hell, if they really wanted to make that sort of attack even remotely effective, they should have gone for broke and talked to Monica Lewinsky since more people are familiar with her name. Talk about lame...!

If Sheppard Smith can't understand why the newscast brought up Gennifer Flowers -- and for the record, I can't either -- then it only serves to prove that Smith is nothing more than a mindless talking head and not a bona fide journalist (then again, based on what I've heard, a bona fide journalist worth his or her salt wouldn't be caught dead at FOX and would almost certainly be persona non grata anyway). I think a bona fide journalist would have at least read over the copy before being asked to present it and would have asked why that item was there instead of simply reading it off like a mindless drone.

Fox Noise seems to have grabbed Tweety's old copy from Friday's installment of his Hillary Trashing Show. It was in a CNN crawl too. Why it appeared anywhere is beyond me. I know it's to trash Hillary but come on! It's freakin 2007. YAWN

Clinton IS IN FACT the frontrunner. That's not FOX's doing -- that's the general power of her last name, her husband's continual HUGE level of support, her gender, and fear of the national security argument by the electorate.

An enormous number of people will vote for H. Clinton because she talks tough, and therefore won't be as easily dinged for being 'too sane' (=Democratic).

And, FOX won't admit it, but their own secret polls show that H. Clinton has surprisingly strong support from Republicans (most likely BECAUSE she has such an offensive edge).

In any event, regardless of who's running it, it's a crap story which amounts to nothing more than mental junk food and which is better suited to the pages of Us Magazine or the National Enquirer than anything. Anyone stupid enough to allow their own voting decision to be influenced by the question of who Gennifer Flowers is voting for -- regardless of the nature of her association to Clinton -- ought to have their head examined.

One of the points I was trying to make is the fact that HuffPo doesn't bother with the pretense of being "fair and balanced" the way FOX does. They're a politically-oriented blog and not a news organization as such -- therefore, while they should consider themselves ethically obligated to report stories which are at least factually based (and not simply because to do otherwise invites accusations of libel), they are at least marginally more at liberty than a soi-disant news organization like FOX News to put their own subjective spin on the story. Strictly speaking, HuffPo is a source of opinion and editorial commentary rather than news -- FOX essentially is as well, of course, but touts itself as a legitimate news organization and so therefore should (even though it doesn't) consider itself more beholden to the ethics of the journalistic profession by at least mustering some effort to avoid an overt political stance instead of only pretending to do so. I agree that it's at least somewhat hypocritical to attack FOX for running the story and not attack HuffPo for doing the same thing, even though equating a self-professed legitimate news organization to a political blog is to some extent comparing apples and pears (if not quite apples and oranges)...but that's why I stand by what I said before to the effect that this is a crap story to begin with which more properly belongs in the pages of a tawdry sensationalist gossip rag than on either FOX or HuffPo.

Last I read, Monica Lewinsky has refused any media attention regarding the Clintons, I think I read that. I'm sure Lewinsky has had about a life's worth of that kind of attention. On the other hand, shameless right wing shills can never get enough.

Next, Fox interviews Sox, the white house cat and finds that H. Clinton was cold to him. The next week they'll show Sox stating that he found her too emotional and too likely to 'pet' him, with a wink of the broadscaster's eye.

Also, Shephard is a talking head, not a journalist. He reads what others print and put before him. He's a showman who stumps his wares for the highest dollar. I'm sure he can't afford to leave Fox, what with living paycheck to paycheck in his three decker tenement apartment in brooklyn. Poor thing, living on the edge like the rest of us, how can we expect him to sacrifice for principle?
