The fair and balanced network couldn't do a segment on Oprah supporting Obama without somehow smearing Bill Clinton and as a result, smearing Hillary as well.

Smith: Now for once, forget about Oprah. What America wants to know is---who Gennifer Flowers is going to vote for. Huh. President Clinton's one time...well...friend...claiming she'd consider voting for Hillary Clinton, surprisingly enough. Flowers, who works as a lounge singer in Las Vegas, says she likes to support her gender in the election. Hillary's camp so far is not commenting on that endorsement. I have no idea why that was in the newscast (laughter) but it was. Fair and balanced, a new face...

WTF? America is holding their collective breaths waiting to see who Flowers is going to vote for? See any bias there? Even Sheppard Smith seemed embarrassed to read that trash. Let's ask Roger Ailes why Gennifer Flowers, an already discredited figure was incorporated into a slickly produced segment directly following their wonder boy guest commentator, Chris Wallace? The fair part is to ask how OW's endorsement might have an impact on the Democratic primary and Hillary's chances in general. The balanced part is to smear Bill and in the process try to weaken Hillary. Shameful.

first, oh what a happy day.

Is Sherri Shepherd Sheppard Smith in drag?

..... it figgers the one actual legitimate newscaster gets stuck pushing vile crap like that. At least the man questioned the stupidity of the report. Reason #3675 why I am ecstatic I canceled my TV viewing at home.

Oprah fell for bush's phony "charm" and everyone in her viewing audience could see she preferred him to Gore. Like it or not, it was a huge boost for the idiot son of an a**hole.

Then she went and gave extra special time to Arnie the Groper on her show, ostensibly because she and Maria are friends.

Now she thinks Obama is just what this country needs.

'Nuff said.

Does it really matter what Faux Noise reports since anyone who watches them to get "unbiased" information is not likely to vote for either Hillary or Obama.
As for being reminded about Jennifer Flowers kinda makes one wish for the good ole days when the only thing we had to worry about our President was his active libido instead of the village idiots blood lust Crusade.

What a fucking cesspool.

pinkobait @ 6:

What a fucking cesspool.

Hey Pinky, keep your opinion about Faux more civil.

I think the fact that FuxNooz stuck Shepard down in Katrina ravaged New Orleans
has 'did' a little something to him.

What he said was, "Fair and balanced, a new face on the Republican side..."

It would seem he was suggesting that they would make up for talking about the Democrats by talking about Republicans for a bit, but of course you can take it any way you like. Interesting how you cut the quote off at that point though. Hmm.

I've never watched this idiot, but my daughter calls him 'sheep-hearder' smith..lol. Selling tickets and spewing murdocks dictatorship is FOX.

bobswire @ 7:

pinkobait @ 6:

Hey Pinky, keep your opinion about Faux more civil.

That darn diddly-dang Fox News is burning my briskets.

Shephard Smith is okay. His "J-Lo Blowjob" moment always makes me laugh (thank you, Youtube!). I think his experience in Katrina showed him Fox was pretty much full of shit and now he's just running out his contract.

Gee I know why it was in the "news" cast, because your a bunch of hacks.

If that's what America wants to know then America is trailer trash.

This shit is waaaay important. I wonder who Guilani's ex wives are voting for. Sheesh.

So now it comes to this, we are tying to ask ourselves just who the media/big corporations favor? That is easy, follow the money. Not just the campain money, but follow their salaries, follow what think tanks they are/were apart of. (Yes journalist, and even a few "new media" types are/were apart of think tanks (look @ wiki ;) ). Then it should give leave little doubt as to who the media is really favoring for the primaries. One last question why do you think the GOP field is so weak (except McCain who gets little support)?

bobswire @ 7:

pinkobait @ 6:

Hey Pinky, keep your opinion about Faux more civil.

More civil than that is possible? Without lying? How?

the fact that this is what fox news is talking about is a fine example of just how bad things have been for the repube party. certainly they do not want to talk about irag, iran, destroyed evidence, nie reports, the troubles of lame repube candidates, faltering economy, oil prices etc. etc.

Fox is another reason why the Bill walks around with that big smirk on his face. ...Shepard is just keeping the Clenis(tm) legacy alive, baby.
I'm sure after 2009, FuxNews will avoid the topic of Dubya like the plague.

I like Shephard Smith. He is the most honest reporter on Faux news. I agree with the others, and think Smith and Geraldo's Katrina coverage had an impact and those two now feel guilty reporting trash.

Up Next on Fox: Is Bill Clinton's infidelity destroying America? Dick Morris and Newt Gingrich will be here to discuss it with Bill O'Reilly. And then later... A fair and balanced discussion about what a hero Rudy Gulianni is. Stay tuned.

Shepard Smith is the only "fair and balanced" anchor at Fox! If all the anchors were like him Fox "News" might really be what it claims but he (and possibly Julie Bandaras) are the only two non-rightwing people working in front of the cameras..Although it has been confirmed that eighty percent of donations made by Fox "News" employees go to Democrats.

your country is so strange, what has this flowers woman got to do with anything now?

Mike the Canuck @ 23:

She's just our version of Margaret Trudeaux, that's all. :-)

Hillary bashing is Fox's soma to distract from Hoovernomics

yes

I think in the near future Shappard Smith will be gone from FOX, on his own. He's getting more and more openly against their thrashy ways.

No X.

I've always liked Shepard Smith... I hope he moves to an actual news agency instead of the fucxs network.

Yeah FOX is scum alright but aparently they did their corporate job of getting some 'progressives' away from the idea of supporting a progressive canidate and getting behind Hillary instead in a reflex response. I'd say they get a B+ in propaganda on the story. Hell maybe even an A-. They sure suck at news but they know propaganda well.

I hate to spoil your Fox-bashing party, but Huffington Post ran this story for days.

I realize HuffPo isn't a nightly "news"cast, just saying that they didn't pull it out of their ass.

Aw man , you ruined EVERYTHING !

I do find it funny that they hate Clinton so much yet Murdoch has held fund raisers for Hilary. They're just trying to maintain the illusion that Hilary might ruin a good racket.

I have no idea why that was in the newscast (laughter) but it was. -- Sheppard Smith

**************************************************

If FOX News is bringing Gennifer Flowers -- a name that I can honestly say I haven't heard in years -- then to my way of thinking, it only shows how very threatened they are feeling on behalf of the GOP presidential candidates as well as how desperate they are to find some way of derailing the Clinton campaign by fair means or foul. Mind you, I'm not standing up for Hillary because I want her to win the nomination -- far from it, because I quite frankly don't -- but bringing up Gennifer Flowers (who's working as a lounge singer, for cryin' out loud!) is sinking to an all-new depth even for FOX. They're not just scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one -- they're digging into every seam and crevice in the hopes of finding something, anything, that they might be able to use to discredit her. Hell, if they really wanted to make that sort of attack even remotely effective, they should have gone for broke and talked to Monica Lewinsky since more people are familiar with her name. Talk about lame...!

If Sheppard Smith can't understand why the newscast brought up Gennifer Flowers -- and for the record, I can't either -- then it only serves to prove that Smith is nothing more than a mindless talking head and not a bona fide journalist (then again, based on what I've heard, a bona fide journalist worth his or her salt wouldn't be caught dead at FOX and would almost certainly be persona non grata anyway). I think a bona fide journalist would have at least read over the copy before being asked to present it and would have asked why that item was there instead of simply reading it off like a mindless drone.

Fox Noise seems to have grabbed Tweety's old copy from Friday's installment of his Hillary Trashing Show. It was in a CNN crawl too. Why it appeared anywhere is beyond me. I know it's to trash Hillary but come on! It's freakin 2007. YAWN

WAH? But progressives and dems could never be fooled the way that repubs are, we are mentally above that.

I'm wondering who Jeff Gannon is voting for myself.

Last I read, Monica Lewinsky has refused any media attention regarding the Clintons, I think I read that. I'm sure Lewinsky has had about a life's worth of that kind of attention. On the other hand, shameless right wing shills can never get enough.

Next, Fox interviews Sox, the white house cat and finds that H. Clinton was cold to him. The next week they'll show Sox stating that he found her too emotional and too likely to 'pet' him, with a wink of the broadscaster's eye.

Also, Shephard is a talking head, not a journalist. He reads what others print and put before him. He's a showman who stumps his wares for the highest dollar. I'm sure he can't afford to leave Fox, what with living paycheck to paycheck in his three decker tenement apartment in brooklyn. Poor thing, living on the edge like the rest of us, how can we expect him to sacrifice for principle?

it's getting so bad that even they can't stand it anymore

wow. America really gives a shit who gennifer flowers is going to voting for? its a modern day A Current Affair episode thats supposed to be news. how did this happen?

Uhm, NO! He renewed.

"Fox News Channel lead anchor Shepard Smith has signed a new deal that will pay him between $7 million and $8 million per year for a little more than three years, the New York Time reports."

Money talks...

Wow, so... if you castrate a continence, it CAN grow back... I'll be darned!

Well, I'm sure that FOX executives have a special procedure to take care of such undesirable effects. Good luck to poor Shep on the recovery from his upcoming lobotomy -- not that he'll remember anything anyway...

Republicans are terrified of Hillary Clinton.

Maybe FOX can sponsor a released rapist to run in place of their collection of whores.

Kyle @ 33:

I do find it funny that they hate Clinton so much yet Murdoch has held fund raisers for Hilary. They're just trying to maintain the illusion that Hilary might ruin a good racket.

BINGO!!!!

They set hillary to be the frontrunner, then they tear her down for the repug candidate, a la al gore.

I hope one of the highest priorities of the next president is to restore the FCC to integrity.

Actaully, this pretty much sums up Sheppard Smith's attitude towards EVERYTHING.

could it be that the clintons are disingenuous as a team, as arianna pointed out when hil ran for senator from ny?? might THAT be it eh?

or hillary's hypocritical voting record?

or her tepid support for john kerry?

or her war votes and the associated equivocations?

The FCC is under Congress' control, not the Executive. The Executive role, TMK, is limited to nominating commissioners.

CoIntelPro @ 53 "could it be that the clintons are disingenuous as a team"

Could it be that she is running for office as the first woman in US history with a real chance to win it?

Blaming H. Clinton for having to wear a hair shirt to impress a nation of patriarchal throwbacks, to the degree you do, is an extension of that prejudice.

CoIntelPro @ 46 "They set hillary to be the frontrunner"

Clinton IS IN FACT the frontrunner. That's not FOX's doing -- that's the general power of her last name, her husband's continual HUGE level of support, her gender, and fear of the national security argument by the electorate.

An enormous number of people will vote for H. Clinton because she talks tough, and therefore won't be as easily dinged for being 'too sane' (=Democratic).

And, FOX won't admit it, but their own secret polls show that H. Clinton has surprisingly strong support from Republicans (most likely BECAUSE she has such an offensive edge).

Good for shep. He broke the program. Not that it helps much but it is interesting.

Break it down.

Watch the sound- animation- overall emotion of the first part "dems".

When he speaks up he breaks the flow to the next part... (not that it matters)

Watch the second animation intro. It feels good. Emotionally.

cOOL stuff. And that graceful clock...........

direct example of 1984- showing the 'other' with heavy emotional fanfare.
showing the 'goodperson' with release.

Woof.

It was in the newscast because the audience must not be exposed to actual facts could effect them.

Hate to burst your bubble...but last time I checked, there's still a considerable difference between a politically-oriented blog and an organization which at least pitches itself as a legitimate news organization (even though it's not one) and especially one which touts itself (however dubiously) as being "fair and balanced". In any event, regardless of who's running it, it's a crap story which amounts to nothing more than mental junk food and which is better suited to the pages of Us Magazine or the National Enquirer than anything. Anyone stupid enough to allow their own voting decision to be influenced by the question of who Gennifer Flowers is voting for -- regardless of the nature of her association to Clinton -- ought to have their head examined.

Shep, if more and more often you're thinking WTF maybe you should be looking for another JOB at a station that is not the hate filled vomit fest that is FOX.

Wow,I would change my name to gennifer flowers for 7- 8 million.

The Republican party is terrified of Hillary Clinton.

America wants to know who Andrea Mackris is voting for!

Speakin' about wonderin'...

Wasn't old Shemp Smith, there, outed around the time he was in hysterics during Katrina by someone who spent an evening singing show tunes with him in a g-bar?

Not hating; just America wantin' to know...

i think what bluestocking is saying is that huffpo has the same garbage and if we attack fox for it then we're gagging on maggots and swallowing , well other maggots.
huffpo is indeed fluffpo a lot but unlike fox it does have real content in addition to the bs.
most recently huffpo is all over the 'huckabee hearts brutal rapist story'.
to me huffpo is like time or newsweek, some good content some crap.
that's why i scan there, read, follow leads and come here to c&l to see what their crew and the commenters have to say about it...IT meaning the news, not britney's underpants.

sorry Bluestocking, I meant Original Cynic at post #31

This all results from the failure to prosecute Murdoch for buying US media while a noncitizen. And then his "network" has the nerve to go on all the time about illegal aliens.

One of the points I was trying to make is the fact that HuffPo doesn't bother with the pretense of being "fair and balanced" the way FOX does. They're a politically-oriented blog and not a news organization as such -- therefore, while they should consider themselves ethically obligated to report stories which are at least factually based (and not simply because to do otherwise invites accusations of libel), they are at least marginally more at liberty than a soi-disant news organization like FOX News to put their own subjective spin on the story. Strictly speaking, HuffPo is a source of opinion and editorial commentary rather than news -- FOX essentially is as well, of course, but touts itself as a legitimate news organization and so therefore should (even though it doesn't) consider itself more beholden to the ethics of the journalistic profession by at least mustering some effort to avoid an overt political stance instead of only pretending to do so. I agree that it's at least somewhat hypocritical to attack FOX for running the story and not attack HuffPo for doing the same thing, even though equating a self-professed legitimate news organization to a political blog is to some extent comparing apples and pears (if not quite apples and oranges)...but that's why I stand by what I said before to the effect that this is a crap story to begin with which more properly belongs in the pages of a tawdry sensationalist gossip rag than on either FOX or HuffPo.
