Mrs. Mary Mack, Mack, Mack

WaPo:

Mary Bono, who was married to late singer-turned-politician Sonny Bono and replaced him in Congress after his death, has married U.S. Rep. Connie Mack.[..]

Mack, a Republican representative from Florida, and Bono, R-Calif., had been dating for two years. Bono's chief of staff, Frank Cullen Jr., said Mack proposed in late August while the couple were on a camping trip in Arches National Park in Utah.

Since they're both members of the House, we will be forced to witness more makeout sessions on the House floor?

No comment, indeed.

Hey, that's great. Are they registered? Where can I send the flaming bag of poo?

Of course the Republicans can't conceive the meaning behind the phase "conflict of interests".

HAHAHAHA!!!

Great. Is Mary going to start squeezing out little republican rugrats?

Methinks Connie just needs a cover story.

I wonder if they'll go on a ski trip for their honeymoon...

No way! A Florida Republican would never hide in the closet.

Maybe I'm missing something here. While the marriage of two Representatives is newsworthy, why aren't we just congratulating them on their nuptials and moving on? Unless I'm woefully uninformed, I'm guessing we can find plenty of politicians who deserve the "flaming bag of poo" much more than these two. Just saying that if we're only throwing poo because they're Republicans then it seems a little childish.

HA! My 6yo came last week with the Miss Mary Mack Mack Mack poem to learn!

Not throwing it; having it delivered to their doorstep. Then, see, when they answer the door and try to put it out... oh never mind

Agreed. Between this and the baseball players on steroids, I'm almost sorry I clicked onto C&L today.

They make an attractive couple. If they DO start making out on the floor, maybe we will get a glimpse of what she has on under that blouse!

That's just cruel, Billy. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Now, are they allowed to maintain separate homes in their districts so that they can satisfy residence requirements for their individual districts?

Or is it a choice of his or her job?

This is the first story on this site that actually made me need to barf.

I don't know which half of this union is more upsetting to the stomach?

Mark Foley (R-Fla.): In an interview with E! Online, Foley swooned, "I've always been a big fan of 'Melrose Place.' I've followed Heather Locklear's career since 'Dynasty.' That's when I met her. You know Heather's going to be doing 'Spin City,' playing the mayor's political consultant. I can't wait for that."

OMG! He swooned?
That's, like, so totally GAY! (NTTAWWT)

How the hell did Sonny Bono become a Republican in the first place?????????

It used to be quasi-respectable, a long, long time ago.

Won't one of them have to retire? They have to choose a residence, yes? I'm guessing it would be her. She seems to be a nice person, but man she votes in lock step with the Repubs on EVERYTHING. Palm Springs is pretty liberal but it is also surrounded by military and lots of retired conservatives.

ingrid2r's picture

Since I live in her district, I hope this means she'll move to Florida. We should be so lucky...

My mother's makin' me marry Mary Mack
I'm goin' tae marry Mary tae' get married an' take care o' me
We'll all be makin' merry when I marry Mary Mack.

Was I the only one completely blown away that Sonny Bono's singing career was described as "successful".

Ah.....Arches....beautiful. Surprising though to find Republicans out in nature.....

halhiker's picture

Sonny became a Republican because he made a lot of money writing songs for Cher and being her foil.

Mary and Connie were both married (to other people) when they met. After commencing an affair, they decided to divorce their respective spouses and marry each other. I have to wonder how their religious right supporters can justify backing either one of these politicians.

That Connie chick looks like a dude to me.

"while the couple were on a camping trip"

Did nobody else catch this? They aren't married, but are on a camping trip together?!

There had better have been at least a couple chaperones... that or they'd better have got all "A"s in their abstinence-only class.
