Democrats are to blame for continuing to go against their constituencies. Even if they lose, they don't care about standing up for principles, or being on record as having stood up for those principles.

At least 75% are Lieberman Democrats that are in bed with the enemy and sleeping very soundly, I might add.

Bankruptcy Bill, Net Neutrality and Continued funding of the Iraq War, anyone?

That picture of Giuliani 100% dead on. A Giuliani presidency=police state.

The initial reaction is to consider the murder of millions of people horrible.

But hey, until you've tried it..................?

How does it feel, George?

Preacher Boob's picture

If Giuliani tries Kristallnatcht in New York, he's gonna be renditioned to Tel Aviv by being dragged along the ocean floor by a chain tied to a slow boat.

That's the NeoConZionist's version of Waterboarding.

If Edwards wants back on the front burner then he only needs to get his hair cut again.

Dumping a few buckets of blood mixed with baby parts on the front door stoops of the clinics would probably be effective.

It's a paradox, all the clowns in the world seem to be employed by the MSM, yet all the MSM seeks for news is coverage of clowns.

That has lead to the obvious conclusion, they find each other fascinating, and cover each other as 'News'.

From the Guiliani article commentary:

"FREEDOM IS ABOUT AUTHORITY"

So, in other words, to Guiliani freedom means that his "subjects" must submit willingly, totally and without question to those in power. That is not freedom in anyone's book I'm sure. What happens to those that will speak out or stand up those in power Mr. Guiliani? Waterboarding? Firing squad or what? I guess at some point I will find out because I for one do not intend to live under Guiliani's dictatorship. I would rather be dead than to live under Kim Jong Guiliani's boot. If your looking for a fight Mr. Guiliani your views are good way to start one.

Whiskey Fire: From the perspective of our lazy, script-loving press, Edwards is No Fun

Nice! That piece is dead-on. Competency isn't exciting, screwups are. That's why we have a press full of Brittany Spears girly parts, rather than the press watching Pakistan before things blew up, or ferreting out Republican corruption sooner.

Yet they still babble on about "ZOMG did you, like, totally see that look that Hillary gave Obama?! Like, he is so totally going to rag on her!" while in the meantime Edwards is doing the hard work, and playing by the rules. Day in, day out. But isn't that the kind of president we need? Especially now?

Hopefully some of the 80,000 Iowans that get to decide the fate of the entire free world for the next 8 years are maybe just a LITTLE above twittering schoolgirls. Or maybe not...

Preacher Boob's picture

Trying to analyze 'Conservatives' leads to many paradoxes.

If you ask 'Why', you run into the conundrum of 'Nature or Nurture'.

Today, 'Nature' means genes, and conservative's genes have experienced a very slow, sometimes non-existent, rate of evolution. This explains their lack of ability to speak coherently, to comprehend any degree of complexity, and to associate compatibly with any other than their own kind, which severely limits their social and psychological mobility.

With respect to 'Nurture', well 99.9% of conservatives are born of conservative parents, the other .1% experienced brain damage at or near birth. So since the parental capabilities are stunted, so are the offspring.

Stunted trees produce shriveled acorns which produce stunted trees which................

That's the most precise explanation of conservatives modern science can provide.

Preacher Boob's picture

If Edwards starts running low on campaign funds, he could start holding up WalMarts, that would not only get him some money, but get him some press, which would lead to more contributions, which would lead to more money, etc.

That's what I'd recommend, if I were Obama's or Hillary's campaign manager.

Preacher Boob's picture

What a base canard is Rove's claim that 'Democrats are responsible for Bush'.

To insinuate that any democrat would sink so low as to stick his dick in that creature that bore Bush is beyond despicable, it's positively rovian.

"We wouldn't have invaded Iraq, we would have saved New Orleans, we would have staffed FEMA," said Rove. "It's all the Democrats' fault."

Heh heh. Some "leadership" and it figures. People like Rove will always blame everyone else for their own failures. On the other hand, maybe Rove has finally learned that even he can not spin any issue hard enough to make the Bush Administration look good anymore. Rove's "It wasn't us, it was them" blame game is a pethetic. Even the most uninformed people have seen this screwed up, incompetent and criminal Administration enough times to know where the blames lay.

Re: The Left Coaster: Admittance to the Other Reality

Awarding incompetence in corporate culture is just part of the "power CEO" mythos that evolved in the 80's. Several corporate boards hired CEOs, in hopes that they would bring their company better profits by completely gutting and restructuring the entire company. They tried to follow Iacocca's example with Chrysler, but the main reason why it worked with him is because Chrysler was on the brink of extinction when he stepped in.

So corporations blow millions to hire a "sports hero" CEO, not unlike a certain team will spend millions to hire a specific baseball/football/basketball player who has no loyalty to the team except for the huge contract. And just like the overpaid athlete, the power CEO might make a few "good plays" here and there, but for the most part, he does almost nothing to actually improve the company for that huge salary.

In the ten years, the average lifespan of a CEO was 18-months, and in that time period they often got payed somewhere around $100 million. Before the 80's, your average CEO stayed much, much longer, as he tended to either have founded the company, inherited the position, or clawed his way to the top from mailroom clerk. And therefore, he also had somewhat of a loyalty about the company and actually gave a shit about the state of his corporation, unlike today's CEOs.

It doesn't take an MBA degree to see that the "power CEO" is a bad business model.

From the Ali Eteraz article on Giuliani's depiction as a fascist by conservatives:

. . . its [sic] interesting that paleoconservatives feel this strongly against Rudy. The fact that Glen Greenwald, a major progressive voice, is writing in the same publication is indicative of the fact that the real divide when it comes to electing a president isn’t about left v. right as much as it is about liberty versus authority.

Regulars here know that I have long advocated an alliance of progressives and libertarians against authoritarians.

Good to see that more people are recognizing this. :)

The story about the PP contractor was disgusting! If they want to protest, fine. Protesting in front of the guys house is extreme but as long as they aren't breaking any laws, although it's vile, fine. But holding up pictures of dead babies right in the face of the children living in that neighborhood is so evil that even Satan him/herself finds repulsive. I so wish I had the money to send people to Denver and do what they did at Matthew Shepard's funeral where the God Hates Fags lunatics were terrorizing Matthew's family and friends: people dressed up like angels and covered the GHF signs with extremely large wings that were attached to their backs. It was so beautiful. I remembered that I cried when I saw that image. No one said a word to the Bill O'Reilly supporting loons either.

Edwards is so phony is insane. He said he was going to tell his AG to look into Oil companies on CNN. Well, first of all Congress already did that and found nothing and second its all supply and demand anyway. This guy talks about Socialism but was he saying this in 04? There is no way a guy who made as much money as him believes in what he says..

Wow, the Republicans in congress said that the oil companies are A-OK? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. Well heck if it's good enough for Mr. Inhofe it MUST be true. I mean, it's not like the oil companies would lie or bribe people, right?

Also what kind of American are you (or are you)? Being good in business is a sin? Or trying to help others once you make money is bad? That's kind of a sad little perspective there.

What was John Edwars saying in 2004? Well, see there's this thing called the internet... let's take a look at 2003!

Today, under George W. Bush, there are two Americas, not one: One America that does the work, another America that reaps the reward. One America that pays the taxes, another America that gets the tax breaks. One America that will do anything to leave its children a better life, another America that never has to do a thing because its children are already set for life. One America -- middle-class America - whose needs Washington has long forgotten, another America - narrow-interest America - whose every wish is Washington's command. One America that is struggling to get by, another America that can buy anything it wants, even a Congress and a President.

2004 is a make-or-break election because we need to create one America again. And that is the one thing George Bush will never do. Dividing us into two Americas - one privileged, the other burdened - has been his agenda all along.

[...]

Under my plan, every American will have the chance to be an owner - to buy a home, save for college, or put money aside for a secure retirement. The ownership society should look like American society, not George Bush's secret society.

We'll give struggling families a chance to realize the American dream, with a $5,000 tax credit toward the down payment on their first home. There is no better way to build a strong, secure nest egg, and get ahead for the long haul than owning a home.

I want to make college affordable with my College for Everyone plan. For those young people who are willing to work 10 hours a week and can get into a university-you'll go tuition free for the first year.

We need to reward family. We can start by offering a family leave newborn child tax credit of up to $2,500.

When the time comes for Americans to retire, I want to help families who can't afford to put money away now by giving them a helping hand, a match of up to $1 for every $1 they save.

-- Speech in Des Moines, Iowa, "Two Americas" Dec 29, 2003

Of course, he's been involved with supporting working unions his entire life. Does that count as "phony socialism"?

One America puts up the money for the companies, big ideas, expansion, with all the risk. The other america bitches because they did not go to college, had kids they could not afford and do not take care of themselves and expect the other American to pay for it!
