you kids today, with your pac-man videogames and dan fogelberg music!
It has just been recently reported that one of the giants of jazz, Oscar Petersen, has died at his home in Canada at the age of 82. The hope is that Crooks and Liars will present a musical tribute to this jazz legend later on in the day or evening.
There are some great Oscar Peterson bits on YouTube.
"Oscar Peterson is a mother fucking piano player!" Ray Charles, in Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues - Piano Blues (2003)
My cynical nature is looking at the soldier deaths in Iraq and wondering if the way we count soldier having died in combat has shifted again? I hope that the violence has slowed as much as people are saying, but having been consistently lied to for so long, you'll pardon me if I remain leery of all the happy talk.
I don't see how Fredo Gonzo can be beat in any catagory, unless it is write in votes for Cheney and Bush.
And . . . BELOIT, Wis. -- The 91st richest man in the U.S., a roofing company billionaire, has died after falling through his home garage's roof, local authorities said Friday.

And the wingnuts are rolling out that banner again, what's it say? MISSION ACCOMPL.....
Thought one: That weird "death music" always creeps me out.
Thought two: That weird 3/4 view of George and the flowers always creeps me out too.
Every week.
Shudder.

Wow. I did not know that Dan had passed away.
I think I'd like to die (leave this 3rd dimensional thing) on my birthday. My wife said, "why would you want to do that?"
I said, "because it would be funny".
Still waiting for some kind of recognition of the passing of jazz great Oscar Peterson on Crooks & Liars.
I guess it takes a while for anybody other than a USer to get the nod on this blog!
Let me say first of all that Crooks and Liars has provided me with great entertainment during the past year. There could be no better source of gafaws for a Canuck than C&L, for showing the complete demise of the USA as a dominant force in the world. It really was a joy to log into C&L every day. Thanks, so much!
The US is a complete failure. It doesn't matter weather the Democrats or the Republicans are leading. There's really nothing to choose between the two. You are the USA - and you're fu#&ed. Thank God for that!
All the best for '08!
Again, because it was deleted by C&L filters, the great Canadian jazz pianist Oscar Peterson had died. Is it because he isn't American that his death wasn't noted on this site? Or is it because John Amato doesn't understand Jazz?

IT SAYS MY POST IS REPEATED.
What a f&$king pain in the ass computers are!
Oh great!
So now they suddenly appear!
It's enough to make you denounce evolution when it's applied to the goddam internet!

You have to understand, you live in a 'Christian' nation, and a lot of the casualty reports depend on the meaning of the word 'died'. The Bush administration has told all military chaplains to investigate the religious affiliation and lifestyle of all military personnel, who, for whatever reason, may have ceased breathing. If they were good christians, they are to be marked on the casualty reports as 'temporarily deactivated', on the theory that once they get to heaven, they will continue their life for eternity, so you couldn't very well call them 'dead', could you?
L.A. Confidential @ 8:
We can all hope that the 90th richest man in the US, a sewer contractor, isn't inspecting his work when his fat wife takes a dump.

Yeah, Gonzo should win it hands down, especially if they poll the other lettuce pickers he works with, 'cause he's always sneaking off to take a crap and then snitching heads from the other guys so his box doesn't look so empty.
