This Week with George Stephanopoulos marks the notable passings of 2007, including last week's assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.  The passings however, that must not ever be forgotten is this one:

That number should haunt Washington D.C. forever.

That's in Iraq and in Afghanistan.

Nearly three lives lost every day, and that's just on our side.

Which lie did they die for now? I can't keep up anymore.

Brought to you by the republicans:

Does this include the private contractor employees who've died?

At least the vote verification will be easy in this coming election. The ballots filled out by republicans will have bloody hand and fingerprints all over them.

Nobody in D.C. will be "haunted" by any of this. Bush himself says he doesn't lose any sleep over anything at all these days: what are a few dead GIs to him and his gang?

In order to be haunted, you'd have to have a conscience.

Unfortunately, it did not also state how many Americans have, as a result of being blown up, become maimed and crippled, blinded and brain damaged, and have lost limbs, and have become paralyzed. It also did not say how many Iraqis have been killed and seriously wounded and how many have died due to disease and illness and starvation and how many have become displaced from their homes and how many have become refugees from their own country. Apparently the last thing that corporate America wishes to do is take a look at the toll that its wars have taken upon the citizens of other countries.

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths, Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

^ but it won't.

Insanity runs in families, doesn't it.

Sorry Nicole, I guess I'm just not as ethnocentric as you. Washington should be haunted by all the deaths it has caused, especially those of the innocent brown people, not just it's own soldiers.

I'm surprised (/snark) that C&L isn't more on top of the Bhutto assassination. Even some of the MSM can't ignore that the Paki Governments' Official Conspiracy story is a bunch of bull.

It's also interesting that nobody save a few bloggers is willing to touch Bhutto's assertion that Osama has already been killed.

In that context, I bet she could have offered some valuable insight on the latest alleged Osama video.

We are lucky.

Go to the supermarket. Buy your foods.

Get past the snow and ice.

Think for a moment about our troops.

I agree.

WHY ALL THIS SUPPRESSION OF TRUTH?
WHY THE PROPAGATION OF MainStreamMyths?
WHO DOES IT BENIFIT?

What a waste. RIP. My condolences to their families.

George Bush stopped in at a bar & bought a round of drinks to celebrate his decision. He announced that he was going to invade Iraq and kill 1,000,000 Iraqis and one, big-chested blond. The guy at the bar asked him why he'd want to kill a blond. His reply was, "See, I knew nobody's care if I killed a million Iraqis." So I guess the other number that ought to haunt D.C. is the million Iraqis our adventure there have caused, both directly and indirectly.

"Brought to you by republicans"...

Well done!

Why are posters here not hungering for a third party?

Are things not bad enough?

Is there still hope for the Dems?

Too bad the only person who could change the US and move us away from this global government scheme has been made to look insane just like Ross Perot. I find it quite shameful that the majority of readers of this blog trash Ron Paul. I think it's pretty dispicable that anyone with progressive enough views to read this site regularly would side with FOX and other MSM agencies in bringing the Ron Paul campaign down. Why do you think he is having such a hard time getting media attention and press? He's trying to save us and his ideas won't help the big corporations (you know, the ones that have brought us into the mess our country is in today). It's almost a processed version of progressivism sponsored by Starbucks.

No. Nor does it include those who died in hospitals. Another Bush/Cheney dirty trick, counting only those who died on the ground.

What's with recognizing Falwell? The Christian Taliban leader who blamed Americans for 911? The hate mongering bigot who scapegoated and demonized gay Americans to enrich his coffers. The world is a much better place without that sinister fat bastard. I hope they buried him face down so he can see where he was going.

The In Memoriam I'm looking forward to:

January 2009 - The Bush Regime. The worst, most lawless, corrupt, deadly, destructive, disasterous Administration in US History. May Karma be with you.

nine months of corruption in her whomb and out pops 666!

"January 2009 - The Bush Regime. The worst, most lawless, corrupt, deadly, destructive, disasterous Administration in US History. May Karma be with you."

Well said. Pompous war criminals and domestic terrorists filled with intent.

I hope our nation can withstand one more year of destruction. I don't know how many times our constitution can be pissed, shit and spit on before it dissolves.

One more year until the next administration (either party) assumes all blame for everything.

Well said. People and progressives in this country should seriously think about supporting the Green Party candidate since the Democrats, going back to at least LBJ, have proven that are in no rush to bring this illegal and immoral occupation to an end.

Yeah, vote green. It really paid off in 2000.

Interestingly, the daily Coalition death rate (2.62) is higher during the current surge than the average for the entire invasion and occupation and the highest since the Iraqi 'vote for freedom'. Yeah, the GOP/MSM must be right? we are winning the battle - Whatever!

One of the YouTube commenters wrote this;"Omar Shaikh killed OBL? Where is body? I think so this is a slip of tongue. She meant to say Daniel Pearle not OBL. OmShk was allegedly involved in murder of Pearle."

I think he may be correct. I believe Ms. Bhutto would have used the word "killed" for Osama Bin Laden, not "murdered". Bin Laden was no friend of hers. Whereas, she would certainly have used the word "murdered" if she meant to say "Daniel Pearl".

In that context, I bet she could have offered some valuable insight on the latest alleged Osama video.

So did voting Democratic, huh??
