No wonder the Dollar is tanking.

What, no music thread tonight?

The news today. Boring. Tonights video. Priceless!

You have to wonder, if Romney got 67%, who came in 2nd. If the Dems do campaign there, will anyone pay attention?

Anyone watch Maher tonight, gave hella shout outs to all three Dems; GOP fears the shit of Obama(nailed Tony Snow with that zinger)...Edwards was the most uncovered by the media, and most liberal voice....and that people shouldn't have Hillary hate(although...in my personal opinion that discounts the 300 milion Americans B-C-B-C arguement). Good show for no writers.

I'm so glad you put this as a link....it's priceless.... much more valuable than the "coins" depicted.

THANKS!!!!

too long! the joke was stretched too thin

I'd laugh but the truth is just too real

We do know that the repugs think Bush's approval ratings will be up to 45% by the time he leaves office. I don't use drugs but, you gotta wonder what these guys are on. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I dont know....but the Marines raising the flag on top the towers is funny.

How about the 1 cent coin? With a picture of grandma on the front and her raided social security fund on the back.

Or what about the rare one hundred thousand dollar Iraq war coin. The number 100,000 on the front signifying the number on lives lost and bodies crippled due to the Bush/Cheney war. On the back a prison cell where Bush and Cheney should sit and rot till their dying days because of the Iraq war and numerous other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Finally the rarest coin of all. The one trillion dollar coin. Only two made, one for each trillion Bush has added to the national debt since squandering Clinton's budget surpluss. On the front a picture of a pround American eagle soaring high above the clounds before the Bush years. On the back a picture of the eagle flat on its back with legs in the air signifying what will happen to this nation once China America on the debt they are holding thanks to the Bush years.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty weird how we were told that "impeachment was off the table" because it would galvanize the GOP. Then, in the same breath, the Party wants to put Hillary, the biggest lightning rod in DC, in the race to the White House.

Why does personal ambition always put Constitutional mandates at the back of the bus?

Bush: U.S. should have acted on Auschwitz

JERUSALEM - A teary-eyed President Bush stopped in front of an aerial photo of Auschwitz on Friday at Israel's Holocaust memorial and said the U.S. should have sent bombers to prevent the extermination of Jews there.
..
Bush twice had tears in his eyes during an hour-long tour of the museum, said Shalev, who guided Bush through the exhibits.

Upon viewing an aerial shot of Auschwitz, taken during the war by U.S. forces, he said Bush called the decision not to bomb it "complex." He then called over Rice to discuss President Franklin D. Roosevelt's decision, clearly pondering the options before rendering an opinion of his own, Shalev said.

Shalev quoted Bush as asking Rice, "Why didn't Roosevelt bomb it?" He said Rice and Bush discussed the matter further and then the president delivered his verdict.
..

CROCODILE TEARS !!!

Prescott Bush's investment in the Silesian American Coal Company -- where the slave-laborers from Auschwitz were literally worked to death -- netted him $1.5 million dollars (that's 1951 dollars) that he used to launch his political career, and by extension, the political careers of his son GHW and grandsons GW and Jeb.

Ruthless,
When tinpot took office, the national debt was 5.6 trillion bucks. Today it is 9.2 trillion and if projections are correct, by this time next year, when tinpot finally takes a hike, it will be over 9.7 trillion smackollas. That’s better than a 4 trillion dollar rise, so you better mint a few more of those dead duck coins (yes, I think a Peking duck hanging in the new Wallmart deli, where neo-libs find they must shop, would be more apropos of the fix we are all going to be in). Of, course, we might save a few bucks by getting rid of these criminals now via impeachment. Have you signed Wexler’s petition yet? Have you asked the blogs you read to get behind a massive signup? Patriotism has never been so easy!

And if you want to see the difference between repubs and dem overspending habits, take a look at this bar graph.

http://www.lafn.org/politics/gvdc/Natl_Debt_Chart.html

And because you can’t lock the brakes on this without a slide into depression, it is likely the debt will increase to over 11 trillion in the next 2-3 years. This means that tinpot will have the dubious honor of in only eight years doubling a debt that took 224 to build up! Way to go, shithead!

No friend of the Left
Ron Paul, libertarianism, and the freedom to starve to death
By SHERRY WOLF
International Socialist Review

Ron Paul’s positions

A cursory look at Paul’s positions, beyond his opposition to the war and the Patriot Act, would make any leftist cringe.

Put simply, he is a racist. Not the cross-burning, hood-wearing kind to be sure, but the flat-Earth-society brand that imagines a colorblind world where 500 years of colonial history and slavery are dismissed out of hand and institutional racism and policies under capitalism are imagined away. As his campaign Web site reads:

The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims. Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence—not skin color, gender, or ethnicity.

Paul was more blunt writing in his independent political newsletter distributed to thousands of supporters in 1992. Citing statistics from a study that year produced by the National Center on Incarceration and Alternatives, Paul concluded: “Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.” Reporting on gang crime in Los Angeles, Paul commented: “If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be.”

Though he rants about his commitment to the Constitution, he introduced an amendment altering the Fourteenth Amendment guaranteeing citizenship to anyone born in the United States, saying in a 2006 article:

Birthright citizenship, originating in the 14th amendment, has become a serious cultural and economic dilemma for our nation…. We must end the perverse incentives that encourage immigrants to come here illegally, including the anchor baby incentive.

Here we come up against the limits of libertarianism—Paul wants a strong state to secure the borders, but he wants all social welfare expenditures eliminated for those within them.

Paul is quite vocal these days about his rank opposition to abortion—“life begins at conception,” he argues. He promotes a “states’ rights” position on abortion—that decades-old hobgoblin of civil rights opponents. And he has long opposed sexual harassment legislation, writing in his 1988 book Freedom Under Siege (available online), “Why don’t they quit once the so-called harassment starts?” In keeping with his small-government worldview, he goes on to argue against the government’s right “to tell an airline it must hire unattractive women if it does not want to.”...In that same book, written as the AIDS crisis was laying waste to the American gay male population and prompting the rise of activist groups demanding research and drugs, Paul attacked AIDS sufferers as “victims of their own lifestyle.” And in a statement that gives a glimpse of the ruling-class tyranny of individualism, he asserts that AIDS victims demanding rushed drug trials were impinging on “the rights of insurance company owners.”....

The polls show that Edward has a better chance of beating any of the Republican, and has the best chance of all the Democrats. I think this is interesting as most of the media have turn a blind eye to Edwards. Very little coverage, and very heavy handed in trying to choose your next candidate.

Some trivia figures for y'all.. over in England, the bookies at Ladbrokes are currently giving the odds:

Hillary Clinton 2.25
Barack Obama 3.00
John McCain 5.00
Rudolph Giuliani 9.00

(For those not mathematically inclined, that's the payout, e.g. 225 dollars on a winning 100 dollar bet for Hillary)

I'd trust these numbers over the US media opinion any day :)

I'm afraid you'll have to multiply that number by at least three now (100,000)

Inocent victims on 9/11 -3000

First responders since - 1000 and counting

American Soldiers in Iraq/ Afghanistan - approaching 5000

Soldiers of other nationalities - approaching 1000

Innocent men, women and children - 300 + thousand and counting

Like Chimpy would have said it (if he cared): That's a lot of people.

David Frum is not even a "conservative."

Most of these "neoconservatives" cannot be "new conservatives" since most, if not all of them, are former liberals and former Trotskyites. These neocons are so far from being conservatives it makes me want to vomit.

The neocons are militarists who believe the strong should devour the weak and that if one cannot defend or fend for thyself, too bad; die or be conquered. There may be some overlap in thought with American nationalists, but when deconstructed, the neocons are actually neofascists who make sophistry-based arguments. David Frum would not know a real fight if he saw one. These neocons have soft hands and do not even know how to change a light bulb and do not even do their own shopping. I am sure none of them are ever out in public with the folks they want to do their fighting. These people are ingrates and poor excuses for human beings. People like Frum need to go back to Canada and take Charles Krauthammer with him.

The International Socialist Review is a great publication and I urge everyone to read it by picking it up at Borders or Barnes & Noble, or, by going to the follow site: http://www.isreview.org/

The International Socialist Review has more honest coverage and real analysis than you will receive from any of the major newspapers or magazines in the United States. The International Socialist Review is a great read and will tell you the truth without the spin and will scrape the b.s. off the top end of the brown nuts running America's Imperial Empire around the globe.

By the way, I am a proud "Secular Progressive," or "Secular Humanist," and not afraid to admit it. Unlike the "Christians" in America, I oppose militarism, sexism, chauvinism, wars of aggression, torture, hatred of gays and lesbians, legalizing the taking away the full rights of gays and lesbians, the death penalty, freedom of choice for women to have over their bodies without intrusion from males who want to dominate a woman's body the way military's want to dominate the oppressed in other lands. A woman's right to choose is to prevent male domination more than it has to do with "abortion rights." But, if a woman is raped or a man wants nothing to do with her and refuses to be involved with her the night after, why should a woman be forced to have the kid? It is okay for men to sleep around and never be held accountable because men "do not get pregnant," yet think they can dictate to women on what they ought to do. Men sleep around and around yet can go without being caught because pregnancy is not something the male species ever has to be concerned with. Men are cowards for the most part in the game of sleeping around and hypocrites always blaming the women they sleep around with when she does get "pregnant."

Read what the country where I was born has become: a two-and-a half-year old kid left to walk alone through a checkpoint for a heart operation without his parents? Israel denied his parents' access when the consensus is that this kid is going to die? He has two holes in his heart and should have had this operation in September. At the last moment these barbarians allowed an uncle of the parents to walk the toddler across? A baby?

But they took her older brother instead and separated them. No wonder my mother despises the Zionists. I apologize for this outburst, but I am really upset by this. This is barbaric. Are we allowed to talk about such things in America? I know there is free speech, free press, and freedom of religion. But, it seems, as all of this is rigged, as if we are living in a Twilight zone, where "evil becomes the byproduct of good; and good becomes the byproduct of evil." And despite the "religious nature" of America these days, there has been a replacement, of which, evil becomes good, and, good becomes evil.

I do not think such discussion is allowed in the United States. God forbid, the "oppressed" ever become the "oppressors." Such things are pure "fantasy." (Wink, wink).

Ron Paul's story just got more complicated. You know how people kept saying that the ghost writer was fired, so we should stop complaining. Well, according to his CNN interview, he never saw those story, and he still to this day of finding out who those ghost writers were. So how do you fire a person you can't track down over something that you don't know about? You don't. The "firings" never happened.

The other problem? Jean McIver is listed as the subscription manager, so surely she of all people should have kept Ron Paul informed of the content, especially if she found the material objectionable. Was Jean ever fired for not letting Ron in on what went on? Nope. In fact, she has since been promoted, to Texas Field Coordinator.

Sunday Perspectives: The staggering body count in Iraq
Generations have been decimated; who will be left to rebuild the nation?
Sunday, October 15, 2006
By Barbara Bodine
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

We will never know the full civilian toll of the Iraq War. Two years ago a Johns Hopkins University public health study concluded that something like 100,000 civilians had been killed in the first 18 months of the Iraq War, more than half of them women and children and most as a result of coalition action....The science was valid but arcane; our presidential campaign was in full swing. The numbers contradicted our notion of how we conduct war and contravened the post-Vietnam aversion to "body counts." The report was dismissed. Commentators now cite the 100,000 figure as accepted fact....

What the Johns Hopkins numbers suggest is that the human infrastructure of Iraq is being systematically destroyed. This is a population decimated by eight years of grotesque war with Iran, a brief but bloody run-in with the world during Desert Storm, and an assault on its own Kurdish and Shiite populations. It is a nation that was left staggered under 10 years of sanctions while being bled by a kleptocracy. Generations of young men have been repeatedly purged, which continues. Add the flight of the middle class and the technocrats, and the question becomes -- who will be left to rebuild Iraq?

Israel denied his parents' access when the consensus is that this kid is going to die? He has two holes in his heart and should have had this operation in September. At the last moment these barbarians allowed an uncle of the parents to walk the toddler across? A baby?

If these stories were coming out of South Africa 20 years ago and it was whites doing this to blacks, the uproar and outrage from Americans would be deafening. The American media would be screaming for their necks. Where is American Jewry on this? This is unforgivable. Just. Unforgivable. This is what the Zionist charities did to my mother in WWII. Left her to die in the French countryside after my grandparents died in the Resistance. Because she was too young to be of any use in Palestine, they left her in a field. But they took her older brother instead and separated them. No wonder my mother despises the Zionists. I apologize for this outburst, but I am really upset by this. This is barbaric. And anyone who can excuse this is equally so.

Mr. Quadruple-X,

Eighty percent (80%) of the Israeli population are mainly badly educated Russian and Polish immigrants who moved there because the USA paid them to make aliyah. Their hero is ex-nightclub bouncer from Monrovia: Avigdor Lieberman. Think gangster pig. Ever hear of Avraham Burg? From The Forward here:

The son of Yosef Burg, a National Religious Party founder who participated in the creation of the state alongside David Ben-Gurion, Avraham Burg was one of the few soldiers to publicly oppose the first Lebanon War. He became one of the most powerful members of the Labor Party, serving for 10 years as chairman of the Jewish Agency and as speaker of the Knesset from 1999 to 2003.

What did he say:

“Burg is in the line of the great leaders of Zionism,” said Yoram Hazony, who founded the Shalem Center, a right-leaning research institute in Jerusalem. “For him to come out against the Law of Return, to abandon Herzl and to compare Israeli laws to Hitler’s laws, it’s like the pope announcing that he has already converted to Judaism.”

He calls Israel spiritually dead. He moved to France three years ago then wrote a book called "Defeating Hitler." His book maintains that Israel has become what it complains about in Hitler. Take a look at this.

The problem, Mr. XXXX, is that most Americans buy the romanticized story of what happened in WWII as told by Jewish historians who are not even called on the rug six million figure that was reduced by three million in 1990 after the Soviet archives were found, and a lot of it is embellished. WWII was the worse world war in history, but we have blinders on when it comes to telling the truth of all sides in that war. Norman Finklestein is right about it -- and his parents were Holocaust survivors, like my mother -- but look what Dershowitz did to him without a peep from American academia . . . sure a few from DePaul objected, but the cowed intelligentsia in this country only have morals for history not present reality.

Happy Trails!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the Lancet gave this figure:
1,165,204

The number is shocking and sobering.
It is at least 10 times greater than most estimates cited in the US media, yet it is based on a scientific study of violent Iraqi deaths caused by the U.S.-led invasion of March 2003.
That study, published in prestigious medical journal The Lancet, estimated that over 600,000 Iraqis had been killed as a result of the invasion as of July 2006. Iraqis have continued to be killed since then. The graphic above provides a rough daily update of this number based on a rate of increase derived from the Iraq Body Count. (See the complete explanation.)
The estimate that over a million Iraqis have died received independent confirmation from a prestigious British polling agency in September 2007. Opinion Research Business estimated that 1.2 million Iraqis have been killed violently since the US invasion.

Great. Passports will soon be needed if you want to cross state lines after May 2008 unless your state doesn't seek a waiver.

Walter Cronkite did not always "oppose" war. As a matter of fact, it was not until late in the Vietnam war, that Walter Cronkite began to oppose the U.S. mission there. Walter Cronkite has a very inconsistent past on war and peace issues. I am not saying Cronkite is an evil or bad guy, but, I am not willing to allow anyone to make the claim that he (Cronkite) was a non-stop opponent to the Vietnam war or other American interventions in the world.

One other thing:

Walter Cronkite is part of the same establishment that brings about war. As a matter of fact those writing Cronkite's paycheck were part of the military-industrial complex---that being Westinghouse. Westinghouse is a defense manufacturer and owns CBS. Again, Cronkite took money from a war making employer and it was not until the entire nation in large numbers opposed the war in Vietnam that "the most trusted man in America," also joined in the opposition to the unpopular war.

Now, if America had not been in a “stalemate” would Walter Cronkite have uttered such words?

No thank you. We kicked them out. Bad enough we allowed Celine Dion back!

In case nobody knew the slighting that Edwards has faced the entire campaign, now along comes more mind games.

Conventional wisdom (or as bloggers like to say, CW) says that negative attention is bad. But Clinton’s negatives went way up in Wonkosphere and she won New Hampshire. Huckabee’s negatives went way up and he’s going to win South Carolina. No, negative attention is only bad if it leads to no attention. It’s no attention that is death. Case in point, John Edwards 2008. Despite coming in second in Iowa within the relevant timespan, Edwards liberal buzz share (blue line) has consistently gone down, day after day, in all of 2008. Likewise, conservative bloggers have also turned away. Now Edwards is below the critical 10% buzz share line. With all the fanblogs out there, if you can’t hit 10% not even your fans are interested. I can’t get the Tom Petty song “Free Fallin’” out of my head…

We are all creatures of habit and are making the same mistake in blaming either Republicans or Democrats for the fiancial mess we are seeing evolve before our very eyes. The truth is that both parties are to blame. Our chaotic and falling markets as well as increased inflation that we are witnessing is being caused by both politicians as well as the central bank known as the Federal Reserve. If politicians want to have a perpetual war for perpetual peace and if those same politicians want to keep adding pork to ever expanding budgets, just where do you think all of this money is comig from?
It's printed out of thin air with nothing to back it as we have been off the gold standard for many years.
Now those same politicians looking to remain in office or get into office are offering to now talk about what to do about the financial mess they got us into, and in their minds, the best thing to do is to create more monoploy money out of thin air and give everyone a $500 tax rebate. Does that make sese.....NO! Why? Because once those funds are spent on buying "more things" we haven't generated any new jobs with it while only continuing to add to an already out of control deficit. This is why gold and silver are going through the roof.
If you continue to print more and more money out of thin air with nothing of value to back it, it becomes worth less and less. The past $500 tax rebate did absolutley nothing to create new jobs which this country desparately needs. Job creation is what creates wealth. Not the printing of more money that is given away to the masses.
Politicians are wonderful at making us feel all warm and fuzzy when an economic calamity is upon us. But they are only adding to the problem just as another fix is given to a drug addict. It might make you feel better for a little while, but when the high is gone, your right back into the withdrawal stage requiring yet another fix. In this case a financial bail out. Don't be fooled by these games because of we go down this road again, it will make 1929 look like a walk in the park and I doubt any of you reading this could even imagine just how bad thigs could get with todays debt levels. What we should be demanding of our elected officials is a long term fix by undoing the Federal Reserve and going back to a proven, solid and eduring financial system backed by real money. Gold and silver. But until we as a people yell holy hell loud enough so that Washington gets the message, othing will everchange and we all will continue to be slaves to the debt masters.

Lobbying for libraries may be the most important function of ALA, and the Midwinter ALA Washington Office Update Session (Sat., Jan. 12, 8–10 a.m.) brings the troops up to speed for the coming year's efforts. Featured in Philly is Bassem Youssef, the highest-ranking Arab American agent employed by the FBI. He will share his experience with the agency's counterterrorism surveillance activities, including the use of National Security Letters. Tom Susman, a partner at Ropes & Gray LLP, will discuss the effect of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) on libraries. You're right, but it's not gonna happen - at least not in our lifetimes. The folks who hold all the wealth, the owners of the banks who own the Federal Reserve (Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Warburgs, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Bros., and all their buddies, etc.) will not be allowing any such thing to happen any time soon. They are not unhappy at all that the rest of us are losing our homes, losing our jobs and soon will be unable to feed our families. No, the Fed is pretty happy with the way things are going and they don't want anyone messing up their plans. When JFK tried to interfere, they killed him. Any political leader who suggests we disband the Fed and its stranglehold on the economy will meet the same fate.

THIS WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!

Are you mad as hell over the economy? Would you like to put a face on your dart board so you can take out those economic frustrations? BEST. SHIT. IN THE WORLD.

brilliant, hilarious, scathing - thanks John and Blue Herald

One issue which has been raised: Why is the President now in Jan 2008 making an issue of an incident which mirror "other incidents" in Dec 2007; why wasn't something said earlier; why make a public display of videos/audio now. Larisa has this link which may shed some light on the GOP-WH approach to the Iranian speed boat issue.

One thing that's changed since Dec07 is the Iran NIE: The President no longer can point to the "mushroom cloud"-analogy; the NIE stating there had been no nuclear weapons program in Iran since 2003 was released after the Dec incidents with Iran. Most likely, because the NIE removes the nuclear-excuse to attack Iran, the President and others are fishing for another pretext.

The NIE update was at the end of Nov07 and discussed at the beginning of Dec07; it looks as though the issues of the Iranians speedboats in Dec07 was not given much attention because the GOP-WH was unclear how to respond to the public reaction to the NIE; and failed to transition quickly to the "new non-nuclear threat of speedboats."

Let's get back to the Fax which Larisa has. Understandably, the Fax was written in Sept 2005, almost 2.5 years ago. Recall, in 05 Rove was still rightly or wrongly publicly asserting the GOP the next year in Nov06 would expand GOP control; the CIA tape was supposedly just being destroyed; and we're still two years after the Iranians had shut down the nuclear weapons program, but two years after the Iraq invasion. By 05, Rove and others were very confident they could paint every issue as, "The GOP is right; and all issues can be framed to undermine the DNC-liberal strengths."

In 2008, the strength of the DNC-liberals is their ability to independently think. What better way to undermine that than to get them to spend time on a phony story, and get them to defend the Iranian's position in re the fabricated tape-audio.

Since the revelations in the NIE, it would appear -- in light of the ROve memo of 2005 -- that there would be a group or steering committee to strategize options to maintain the momentum to attack Iran, regardless the Congressional threat of impeachment or allegations of war crimes in attacking Iran. Rather, it should be presumed all the legal problems facing the Bush Administration -- Iraq WMD, and no imminent threat; prisoner abuse; violations of the laws of war -- would be lessons learned in how to package the next pretext for war with Iran. The goal isn't to exhaust all options; but to in appearance only, "show" the US is addressing all the legal issues and use this to present to Congress: "We've listened, and here are the 'facts'; if you oppose us, then you're contradicting yourselves."

GOP Exploiting Media Bias

Look at Para2 of the Smith Memoranda to Rove: They're talking about framing the immigration issues in the context of three factors, which appear to continue to exist today: Media bias, animosity toward the President, and the REpublican Base.

Indeed, if you want to get a sense of the media's decision to avoid covering the President, consider this interview IM, NYT obtained where Morgan asks if there are forbidden topics and Denton responds with the "Bush Administration":

Morgan (5:05:09 p.m.): are there forbidden topics? things you hate or are sick of?

Denton (5:05:30 p.m.): bashing of people who don’t deserve it

Denton (5:05:34 p.m.): anything too predictable

Denton (5:06:11 p.m.): e.g. bashing big corporations, Bush administration, Tony Snow

Note Para4, last sentence: "Liberals can easily and accurately be painted as opposing enforcement.") "Accurately" is an assertion -- the issue in re Iran: "How are the valid arguments against attacking Iran going to be used to undermine the DNC-liberal support for prudence."

Let's consider the memo in the context of Iran:
- What does the President, on the issue of Iranian military, hope to appeal to when it comes to public interests?
- What results does the public want to see; and how can the public be shaped to demand results that are consistent with [a] undermining the DNC; and [b] supporting the GOP interests?
- Which issues need to be presented first to undermine the major DNC-liberal opposition; and which GOP-supported legislation would then the DNC be inclined to support, sponsor, or appear to have no option but to endorse?

The goal with Iranian speedboat-response isn't to solve a problem, but to present the issue as one the DNC-liberals will take position on; then be confronted with language in legislation that would force the DNC-liberals to contradict themselves.

The issue isn't the speedboats, but how the incident will be framed in the coming months to attack the DNC-liberal strengths: Oversight, independent analysis, and reasonable doubt about the GOP-WH leadership, plans, and assertions. The goal is to raise frivolous doubts about the DNC-liberal reasonable doubt, and dissuade growing momentum supporting the DNC challenge to the current GOP control of the White House, and the DNC's ineffectual challenges to the GOP minority status in the Senate.

What the GOP appears to be doing is exactly the opposite of what would be expected once the NIE on Iran was disclosed: Rather than withdrawing forces and lowering tensions, the GOP appears to be accelerating timelines, asking for increased pressure, and mobilizing to accelerate Congressional attention on Iran despite the NIE which would warrant the oppose: More time, less tension, less threats, and no concern with Iranian military threats.

Para2 of the letter suggests the themes the DNC-liberals are likely to be confronted with i this effort to railraod the DNC is supporting military action against Iran: Media treason against real threats; unjust contempt for the President who only wants to keep Americans safe and secure, with access to cheap oil; and address the feelings of inferiority in the GOP since the 2006 defeat.

Going Forward

The key in monitoring the President's statements on Iran's speedboats is watching what budget and legislative decisions are attached to this wagon. Now is the time to lay the groundwork to ask whether these future proposals are correctly linked with real problems, or merely new excuses to continue what was never justified: Increased military tensions in contravention to the principles the President called on the Palestinians, Arabs, and Israelis this week to embrace.

Now is the time for the DNC to pre-empt the GOP on Iran; and call the GOP on the apparent bluff: Why, given the President's inaction in Dec07 should the DNC -- as appears likely -- be railroaded into supporting a "fast track to legislation" without a serious review of the Iran NIE in the context of the "GOP motivation to shift from nuclear weapons to speedboats."

Since 2003, there's been relatively little legislative action to rally Congress against Iran; rather, its largely been the US President -- on an unquestioned assertion that Iran was a threat -- that the US must take military action. Suddenly, in 2007, that nuclear risk fell off the radar, yet it appears the GOP is hoping to press the DNC to support expanded Presidential power to confront Iran over speedboats.

- Why was this legislation not provided earlier?

- Was there a reason that, given the post-2001 era, we're only waiting now?

- Why should we believe the GOP pressure on the DNC in re Iran is linked with the 2001 AUMF in re 9-11 or Iraq?

A lower threat from "only speedboats" isn't consistent with the sparse legislative action since 2001 in re Iran. We have more time, not less time, to deal with mere speedboats. The only speedboats associated with mushrooms might be the ones the DEA is using near Columbia. Far, far away from Iran. So much for the GOP-led enforcement efforts. We need a DNC President to find out what's been really going on since 2001 to clean up this President's mess.

Three Generations Of Bushes Arrive In Texas

Naw, Israel pwned him is all.
Bush went there to talk about Palestine, the Israelis derailed that by playing videos of the Holocaust (the ever useful battering ram that it is) and blaming the US for not running to their help faster than it did. Bush , being the low IQ idiot that he is, got teary and took responsibility for all of us for not invading quicker and was effectively side tracked by the whole issue and more than likely promised even more of our tax dollars to Israel.

And then he left without even doing what he claims he went there for.

That's not really an argument. You are sick of the name. If she changed her last name would you be okay with her as President? Unfortunately, it's juvenile.

As she asked herself, judge her on her merits, not her name.

Actually I am alluding to the fact that in a country of 300 million two families should not have sole responsibility for nearly three generations. Thanks though.
