Issues? What are those?

I got ya issue for ya, right heah!!

Great video! John, you have talented friends. I liked it all but I loved the approval message at the end.

I never realized there were so many Mitts to choose from. They are like buses, if you don't like this one another one will be by in 15 minutes.

Mitt Romney’s wallet is democrats’ best friend. Go Mitt, tear McCain a new one.

Talcott's picture

Why would anyone want to throw away their vote for that asshat?

This is one of those deals with Romney where if you keep doing things the same way and expecting different results, you just might be an idiot. If he doesn't win Mich. how much longer is he willing to throw his own good money after bad? Seems he will be making himself look rather foolish.

Forget Mitt, Alan Keyes needs a win. Let Obama thump him again.

There is no Dem primary to speak of. The DNC pulled all of the delegates. Either Dems vote for Hillary, Kucinich or Gravel (the only 3 names on the ballot and if you write a name in your vote doesn't count by state law) in a meaningless primary or they take advantage of the state's open primary (There are no registered democrats or registered republicans. Anyone can vote for either party's primary) and vote in the GOP one.

Matt explains it pretty well.

Given that there's no Democratic primary in Michigan and Michigan has an open primary, Kos offers the devilish suggestions that Democrats and Democrat-friendly independents should turn out and vote for Mitt Romney, who seems like a much easier general election opponent in November.

I'll only note that there's no reason one need be so cynical about it. I would much rather live under President Clinton or President Obama than under President Romney, but I'd take President Romney over President McCain or President Huckabee. Romney's a pathetic liar and he's running on a shitty agenda, but in a pinch you can say that the man has a track-record of managerial competence that Huckabee and McCain distinctly lack. Meanwhile, Romney appears not to quite have either McCain's zeal for war or Huckabee's zeal for not knowing what he's talking about. So there's really no downside to going and casting a ballot for Romney.

Basically, in Michigan you can vote in the GOP primary, waste your vote in a meaningless Democratic primary, or not vote at all.

What's at stake: Thirty Republican delegates and zero Democratic delegates. Because the state broke the rules of both major political parties to move up its primary date, it will be stripped of half its GOP delegates and all of its Democratic delegates.

Justabill,

Why not vote against the War by voting for Dr. Paul?

I realize the 'party' higher ups have dictated their strategy to the weakminded, so they

hacktacular games with election process.

I find that certain people, intending to game the system by supporting WarMonger's like

"global jihad" Romney pathetic.

Here is someone whom realizes that the War/Occupation/Genocide is the MOST important

issue.

http://www.feralscholar.org/blog/index.php/2008/01/04/my-ron-paul-rant/

This morning, between getting ready for work and cooking breakfast, I dashed off a quick piece for Counterpunch, floating the idea that the anitwar movement — that has once again been sidelined by the Democratic Party and the media — could cross over during the Presidential primaries and vote as Republicans… casting a Republican primary vote for Ron Paul.

CP ran the piece, typos and all, and my email box has summarily filled up.

Damn.

Once I weed out the deeply weird stuff, like one that claimed Ron Paul is a closet communist in the pay of Jewish bankers, the rest either applauded my suggestion, or reviled it in ways that I had predicted in the rant, and a few wanted to “correct” me on my allusion to Ron Paul as a “passive racist.” Several did not seem to get the tactical gist of my proposal.

I take responsbility for any and all lack of clarity; and I’ll try to correct that now.

Let me start with the suggestion of “passive racism.” This is an offense for which about 90 percent of white people are guilty… hey, we live in a white supremacist society. It’s in the air. I won’t engage in extensive polemical arguments about the difference between white supremacy (a system that is reflected in the minds of the peope in that system). Every liberal who ever said we can’t leave Iraq because without the Americans there the place would descend into chaos… is a passive racist. This is a white supremacist assumption.

My main point was that the biggest social catastrophe for Black and Brown folk in the US today is the criminal justice system and the American gulag that goes with it.

I like Flip Romney more than Flop Romney.

Republicans have been gaming the system for years. If you want to win elections, you get in the game. The reason for voting for Romney is not because getting him nominated ensures a soft landing if the Dems lose. The reason for voting for Romney is to ensure he and his money stay in the race longer, beating up on the frontrunners, and preventing the Repubs from coalescing around McCain or Huckabee. No frontrunner helps the Dems in the long run.

umm, #14 i guess you still haven't heard that Ron Paul is a racist bigot. he published a series of newsletters, with his name on them for decades that promoted racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia and anti-government paranoia. while Ron Paul does make some good points, like that the government should follow the constitution, he's still anti-choice, gun-loving, and wants to return to the 19th century foriegn policy of isolationism.

anyways, I hope all michigan democrats vote for mitt, just for the sick pleasure i will derive from watching this hypocritical batch of republican candidates fight it out, only to watch Obama or Hillary decimate them in the general election. that'll be fun :)

Radically Moderate's picture

Typically I cross over to Repug in the primaries to vote against their candidates. Declaring a party in order to vote is a dumb way to run a democracy, but if the powers that be want it that way lets f&%k with those powers that be..............make "their" style of democracy work for YOU!

My thoughts exactly! The sooner this sneaky prick is out of the race, the safer our Democracy will be. If Mittens gets the nomination, I'm sure that in a nod to his benefactors, THE BUSH FAMILY, he will name their other son, Jeb, as his VP running mate...and that would be like cool water toosed on the faces of a parched, wingnut base!

Get Romney out now, Michigan, otherwise, we may regret it later!

If you actually believe that it would be better to live under President I-WANT-TO-DOUBLE-THE-SIZE-OF-GAUNTANAMO Romney, then both you and this Matt character are as big a fools as Markos over at Kos! Romney's a dangerous man, don't underestimate in hopes of avoiding a McCain or Huckabee vs Clinton or Obama strategy! Please don't gamble with my country and democracy because of some pinheaded idea!

A+ Win from the guy I've never heard of.

christian's picture

How sad to see the big blogs follow that idiot Markos's foolish plot.
Especially since the gate-keepers of DK repeat the mantra "We Elect Democrats Only."
Now that phony Kos fancies himself the Rove for corporatist dems, and how pathetic to watch the blind sheep bray the same thing: "It's fun!" "They did it to us!" "We have to be scumbags too!"
And how does this look across the media? Like dirty pool. Sorry, Kos is still a Republican.
And if you morons end up getting Romney into power, we'll remember.

christian's picture

And given Markos abysmal history of predictions ("Hillary is dead in the water"), putting faith in his sports-fantasy-CIA-dirty tricks fantasy is about as smart as voting Republican.

Well it seems as if you are ignorant.

http://www.nolanchart.com/article1134.html
Austin NAACP President Nelson Linder, who has known Ron Paul for 20 years, unequivocally dismissed charges that the Congressman was a racist in light of recent smear attempts, and said the reason for him being attacked was that he was a threat to the establishment.

Anyone here a Democrat from Michigan, other than me?

I appreciate the idea, but #26 has it mostly right (apart from the rhetoric) - just because unethical Republicans do that sort of stuff, doesn't justify those of us who value integrity in engaging in the same practice. I'm mad as hell about the way my voice has been silenced in the primary, but I will not stoop to the sorts of practices I criticize others for doing.

Am I wrong? I predict very little line-crossing today, actually.
