Fox & Friends: Keith Olbermann Runs MSNBC!

You know you're doing something right when FOXNews attacks you and apparently, Keith Olbermann's recent ratings boom has them scared to death. Keith makes a point of raking FOXNews and their talking heads over the coals for their lies, propaganda and shoddy "journalism," and now they're going after him personally.The nutty gang on Fox & Friends were positively shocked this morning at a recent interview Olbermann gave to Men's Journal in which the interviewer quotes an unnamed MSNBC executive as saying that due to his ratings boom, Keith Olbermann is now running the network.
It's safe to assume it was a figure of speech, but the Fox morning crew, in an attempt to create a faux scandal, twisted the story around to give the impression that Keith actually runs the news departments for both NBC and MSNBC -- and that Countdown is an partisan, opinion show, not a news show therefore, it's unethical for him to run a news department. Why, you ask, is this so? Because FOX has people like Sean Hannity on their network who also does an opinion show, but he's never been a part of their real "news" programs. I hate to break it to them, but it doesn't matter who's mouth it comes out of, nobody considers anything aired on FOXNews to be real news.

i would like to add that it is quite an accomplishment for his ratings to go up. the entire system is rigged. take my situation for example. i have the dish network wich i believe accounts for about 30% of the market. if i want to even watch msnbc i have to buy the most expensive packege to even recieve the channel. in contrast cnn comes with their most basic dish packege and fox comes with the next one up. if i want to see keith, i have to buy 250 channels of crap i'll never watch just to get a news channel i enjoy (some of the times). anyone else noticed this? its not the case with the other providers. all the others, comcast, direct tv etc just give you all the news networks off the bat

What's scary is that they have a pretty good sized audience who actually play along with and repeat the fake outrage of the day. A "Ring" Of Truth To The Kieth Olbermann Assertion
I feel like I have found a piece to a complicated puzzle. It all makes sense. Chris Matthews have been acting like a pure idiot lately, and this story fits into why it may be happening.
Don't get me wrong; Matthews did not suddenly become a jerk. His title as "jerk" has been with him for a long time now. There is no one in TV more arrogant then Matthews. As much as he hates Hillary Clinton, I dislike his style. He belongs next to the likes of Russ Limbaugh. However, just when you thought a person could get no worse, Matthews toped that.
Matthews has went from extremely unpredictable to clinically obsessed since he started covering the 2008 campaign season. Before Olbermann, Matthews was the top dog at MSNBC. Recently I often wondered if Matthews was trying to purposefully make MSNBC fail by being an exaggeration of who Olbermann is. In other words, is Matthews bashing Clinton to point out Olbermann comments on Bill O'Reilly in the same way? It makes sense to me.
The above being said, will it take a rocket scientist to figure out they must get rid of Matthews before he trashes what is left of MSNBC? Only time will tell.

Wow! I live in a really, really rural part of America so I don't get cable, hell I don't have TV at all. The only reason I've got Internet is because I'm line-of-sight to a mountain with a wireless tower 15 miles away. That said these clips really freak me out and those numbers are amazing. I have many relatives that only watch Fox Noise. They think Orally is a great journalist. I guess being a former host of Inside Edition qualifies you as a journalist. I programmed Fox Noise in the parental controls on my cable. No one will ever watch that channel at my house!!

If Fox "News" has a viewer base that is 10 times greater than MSNBC, it would mean that KO has roughly 2,8 times higher turnout for his potential viewers, than O'Reilly has, and would most likely, given equal television station coverage, beat him easily.
As I recall, O'Reilly used to have 9 times the viewers once upon a time as well.

I will never look at Keith Olbermann the same way since he participated in MSNBC's little charade that passed itself off as a debate. War profiteer General Electric, parent company of MSNBC, did not want Kucinich to be heard, since he has been steadfast in calling for an immediate end to the war, which would mean billions in lost revenue for GE.
Now, I understand that Keith does not want to bite the hand that feeds him. Understandable. But I will no longer look at him as an unbiased newsman again, because he's not. Hypocrite comes to mind. Yes, I know that GE lets him rave on and on about the war, but that's just talk. Kucinich has the power to take action, which is a different story.

Err...I like Keith a lot, but I like him because he's biased towards my side, when most of the news is slanted the other way. If you thought he was an "unbiased newsman" before then you're almost as bad as the people who think Bill O'Reilly is.

Keith and those associated with his programming are the sole elements of NBC/MSNBC that are not doing propaganda, are the sole representatives of Big Media whom I find trustworthy.
Now this is funny, Fox News accusing someone else of giving opinions and not news. I wonder what Hannity, O'Reilly, et al are thinking.
If Keith were running NSNBC news he would be actually called the EDITOR and as such would not Count Down be an Editorial presentation.

You, or whoever wrote that special comment, should DEFINITELY send it direct (or as directly as possible given the prevalence of shields famous people usually have i.e. assistants and the like) to Keith Olbermann. Not too sure what it would accomplish, he probably won't even see it, let alone acknowledge it publicly on his show if he does (because he probably can't), but it would at least let HIM know that his fans aren't going to just sit back and ignore that shit because we're fans of his and he tells the truth all other times than that time (by omission). Anyway, still a Keith fan, just a Keith fan that is a little disappointed in him right now, but at the same time I understand it. In Keith's case, it is a tad bit more forgivable. Think about it, what could he have really done to change what happened to Kucinich (who by the way is my dream candidate)? Nothing really. The decision was made, a court ruled Kucinich should be able to participate, NBC/MSNBC decided to appeal the ruling which means no Kucinich due to the speed of the grinding of the gears of justice. I guess what I'm saying is maybe KO was just "picking his battles" so to speak. He says all kinds of things (all of them true) on the air, and exposes the lies of our president and vice president etc etc on NATIONAL television 5 nights a week. All of the revelations he makes are inconvenient for GE just as Kucinich being able to spout his anti-war, "government-run health care," peace, love, dope talk (read: TRUTH, COMMON FUCKING SENSE, and COMPASSION FOR OTHERS) at the debates would have been, and yet the let KO keep doing it and PAY HIM FOR IT. There are other ways they could make money with that news slot, i.e. giving it to Bill Kristol like the NYT did...I'm disappointed in KO to be sure, but it could be worse...
Olbermann rules MSNBC he doesn't run it.

Everyone keeps saying KO should respond to the Kucinich thing. That's moronic. He can't. Like it or not, he does work for MSNBC and he's not going to attack them, whether by personal choice or by executive order.
KO enjoys a lot of editorial freedom from his bosses. By letting this go, he's perserving that. He can't champion all our battles, folks.

The Morning People on Fox News are so bad that you can really only watch for a minute or two before moving on. Their combined IQs and my shoe size come out about an 8 1/2. However, they do spout the Fox line nicely, and I am sure they work cheap. The rest of the 'talent' on Fox is equally bad. They will fade away as their constituency unwraps themselves from their flags and comes back to the real world. And that is happening rapidly.

I'm pissed at Olbermann too, for not condemning GE/NBC for kicking Kucinich out of the debate. I don't want to believe that he's as much a hypocrite as O'Reilly. But maybe he is.

I hate to tell you this but there are some idiots who actually think Faux Noise is real news. Unfortunately I know with a lot of them here in the state of Okie-homa and Texas. Its a sad thing to try to tell them differently too. They raise their voices and get upset. Its like telling a child there is no Santa.
Wow, didn't know that protecting the environment, human rights, the innocent, freedom of speech and religion, not invading sovereign nations based on lies like Hitler, disagreeing with invasion and murder of innocents, not agreeing with torture, wanting to know what you eat and what your kids play with, holding giant corporate villains responsible for greed crimes, not judging people because they don't believe your damaging fairy tales, hating people because they aren't you, wanting a government by the people instead of a corporation, made you anti American?
