Countdown's Worst Persons: Bachman, Beck and the Huckster

On Thursday's Countdown, Keith Olbermann awards the bronze award to Rep. Michelle Bachman for her Let them eat cake moment of boasting about so many Minnesotans working longer hours and at more than one job. The silver goes to Glenn Beck for taking his WATB rants about a botched hemorrhoid surgery and extending it to a slam against Universal Health Care and then to FDR for being the president that ushered in more social programs than the Republicans have been able to destroy (though Universal Health Care was not one of them, but hey, it's Beck, we don't need no stinkin' facts). And finally, the gold goes to Mike Huckabee, for continuing his "The Constitution should be amended to fit the word of God" to do the typically inane biblically-based bash against same-sex marriage.

It's nice to see somebody other than O'Reilly on the "Worst Persons" list.
Personally, I think they should retire his jersey. Just rename the segment "The Bill O'Reilly Worst Person in the World" and give the actual awards to other worthy recipients.

I saw Beck on some show this week and he said he was still so shaken from his hospital experience that he couldn't stand for the interview, he requested that he be interviewed sitting down. Mr. Drama!

I agree with Huckabee. Let's change the Constitution to fall in line with the laws of the Bible. Open your bibles to Leviticus. It is the book with all of the really cool laws in it.
We can make it a Constitutional amendment that whenever anyone's house gets mold in the bathrooms, that house should be burnt to the ground.
Another Constitutional amendment could be that no one should ever be allowed to eat shell fish.
Another good one would be anyone with a disease must carry a bell and shout "unclean" whenever anyone comes near them.
Of course the Constitution will have to be amended to make all of us observe the sabbath and keep it holy, but that one is going to be a little tough, because there is some dispute about when exactly the sabbath is. But I am sure that can be worked out.
It should also be unConstitutional to commit adultery, and women who do should be stoned.
Jack Cafferty said it best...if we as voters don't watch it we are going to end up with the same type of Pres. we have now.

This isn't quite fair. Huckabee's "thin edge of the wedge" argument has merit. Take religion for example. You start tolerating snake handling and speaking in tongues and before you know it, you've got human sacrifice and purple cyanide koolaid for kiddies. Far from separating church and state we need to amend the constitution to ban religion . So the Huckster is almost right.

i support a womens right to choose. but i also understand the point of view that the creation of life should not be greeted with its destruction. also 2000+ years of history and now 2 men can get married? all huckabee is really saying is that goes against the natural way things are....goes against evolution to promote same sex sex as marriage. He has a right to say that because it is the truth. It doesn't mean that gays can't be partners. or live openly with pride. i think huckabee respects the life of all people no matter what faith or non-faith. he sure talks like he does if you actually listen to him.

Mr. Huckabee has not always been so graceful. Speaking to a not-particularly religious crowd near Detroit on Monday, before the Michigan primary, he slipped into an argument to amend the Constitution to ban abortion and same-sex marriage, “so it’s in God’s standards, rather than try to change God’s standards.”
By Friday morning, Mr. Huckabee had backed away from his comments, saying in an interview with CNN that he understood the Constitution as a “secular document” and had described his support for those amendments “a little more awkwardly than I have in the past.”
What Mr. Huckabee said at Southern Baptist Convention pastor's meeting: "I didn't get into politics because I thought government had a better answer. I got into politics because I knew government didn't have the real answers, that the real answers lie in accepting Jesus Christ into our lives."
Has he also "backed away" from the above statement? He understands the U.S. Constitution is a "secular document". That doesn't say that his end goal is not to subvert it with his religious beliefs.

Bachman must think its okay for corporations to give their workers the shorter end of the stick. It only perpetuates the account of living wages not keeping up with the cost of living or what the rich already have. I hate it when we have to work hard and earn less for it! The big corporate tycoons are NOT working harder at the top!

i mean romney used to be a missionary in france for the lds church and his great grandpa had 12 wives so I am not so sure I believe him when he says he is against polygamy.
